1.Clinical Characteristics of Apnea in Full-Term Infants: Compared to Late Preterm Infants

Objective:
Apnea in newborns is defined as a respiratory pause of 20 seconds or longer, or apnea accompanied by bradycardia or cyanosis. To date, research on neonatal apnea has focused on premature infants born within 34 weeks of gestation. The aim of this study is to present clinical significance of apnea in full-term infants compared with late premature infants born over 34 weeks of gestation.
Methods:
In a retrospective study, we reviewed medical records of neonates born over 34 weeks of gestation hospitalized for apnea and their mothers from November 2020 to May 2024. A total of 124 neonates were collected and divided into full-term infants (n=54) and late preterm infants (n=70) groups.
Results:
The mean gestational age of full-term and late preterm infants was 38 +5 weeks and 35 +2weeks, and the mean birth weight was 3.16 kg and 2.14 kg. Apnea was associated with diseases in 44.4% of full-term infants and 38.6% of late preterm infants. The rates of multiple births, small for gestational age, and cesarean section deliveries were significantly higher in late preterm infants.Apnea occurred significantly earlier and recovered faster in full-term infants. Neurologic disease was significantly more occurred in full-term infants (P=0.021). Especially, cerebral infarction and seizure were diagnosed only in full-term infants.
Conclusion
Apnea occurred earlier in full-term infants and severe neurologic diseases were significantly more found in full-term infants compared with late preterm infants. A close examination is needed in full-term infants with apnea.

6.Comparison of Eating Habits and Behaviors of Young Single-Person Households based on Food-Related Lifestyle

Background:
This study aimed to investigate the dietary habit problems related to lifestyle by analyzing health behaviors and dietary habits in Korean young adults.
Methods:
Adults aged 20≥ and ≥39 years single-person households who participated in the survey were included in the study. Subjects were classified into food related lifestyle. Subsequently, characteristics, health behaviors, dietary habits were analyzed.
Results:
The participants of the study were classified into five types: a ‘taste-type’, an ‘economy-type’, a ‘convenience-type’, a ‘health-type’, and a ‘safety-type’. As a result of comparing eating habits by food-related lifestyles, the ‘economy-type’ showed the highest dietary assessment with a score of 3.18, while the ‘safety-type’ ranked the lowest, a score of 2.54. The ‘economy-type’ scored highest they ate out less, cooked more, suggesting a need for nutritious cooking classes. The ‘health-type’, with more men and price-conscious individuals, sought healthier convenience options. The ‘taste-type’ preferred food delivery and dining out, needing balanced menus. In contrast, the ‘convenience-type’ overate, scoring low in habits, emphasizing the need for healthier menus and support. The ‘safety-type’ which has a high percentage of jobs in the service industry and high school graduates, showed the need for policy support for better diet.
Conclusions
Young single-person households have different dietary problems depending on their food-related lifestyle. Therefore, we recommended for the customized dietary education considering the characteristics of each type.
7.Ipsilateral hemichorea after striatal hemorrhage

Hemichorea after a striatal lesion of the ipsilateral side of the cerebral hemisphere is a very rare
condition. A 72-year-old female presented with right-sided bradykinesia and left-sided hemichorea
after a left striatal hemorrhage. In a shape analysis of the brain conducted via MRI, her damaged left
basal ganglia was severely contracted whereas her right dorsolateral putamen surface was deformed and
hypertrophied. Excessive compensation of the contralateral hemisphere may be a possible mechanism
of ipsilateral hemichorea in this case.
8.One-year antibody persistence and safety of a 4-dose schedule of MenACWY-CRM in healthy infants from South Korea

PURPOSE: Results from a post-marketing study to generate evidence on 1-year antibody persistence and safety following vaccination of infants from South Korea with the quadrivalent meningococcal conjugate vaccine MenACWY-CRM. MATERIALS AND METHODS: In this phase IV, open-label, multi-center study (NCT02446691), 128 infants received MenACWY-CRM at ages 2, 4, 6, and 12 months. One-year antibody persistence following the full vaccination course was evaluated (primary objective) for the four meningococcal serogroups (Men) by serum bactericidal activity assay using human or rabbit complement (hSBA/rSBA). Immune responses at 1-month post-vaccination and safety were also assessed. RESULTS: The percentage of children with hSBA titers ≥8 ranged between 94% (MenA) and 100% (MenY/W) 1-month post-vaccination, and from 39% (MenA) to 89% (MenY) 1-year post-vaccination. At least 99% and 92% of children had rSBA titers ≥8 and ≥128 against each meningococcal serogroup, 1-month post-vaccination. One-year post-vaccination, the percentage of children with rSBA titers ≥8 and ≥128 ranged from 54% (MenC) to 99% (MenA) and from 30% (MenC) to 98% (MenA). Geometric mean titers declined from 1-month to 1-year post-vaccination, when they varied between 6.8 (MenA) and 53.6 (MenW) by hSBA and between 17.2 (MenC) and 2,269.5 (MenA) by rSBA. At least one solicited and unsolicited adverse event was reported for 79% and 66% of children. Of 36 serious adverse events reported, none were vaccination-related. CONCLUSION: Antibody persistence (hSBA/rSBA titers ≥8) was determined in 39%–99% of children 1 year after a 4-dose MenACWY-CRM series during infancy, with an acceptable clinical safety profile.
