Based on the pathogenesis of erectile dysfunction (ED) from the meridian-zangfu relationship and the "brain-heart-kidney-essence chamber" axis, it proposes that dysfunction of the "brain-heart-kidney-essence chamber" axis is closely related to the occurrence of ED. Among these, brain-heart disharmony is the key pathogenic factor, kidney deficiency and essence depletion constitute an important basis, and essence chamber stasis is a critical mechanism. The treatment approach emphasizes harmonizing the brain and heart, regulating the mind, tonifying the kidney and replenishing qi, unblocking qi and blood to harmonize the essence chamber. The primary acupoints include Baihui (GV20)-Neiguan (PC6)-Shenmen (HT7), Taixi (KI3)-Guanyuan (CV4)-Sanyinjiao (SP6), and Zhongji (CV3)-Dahe (KI12)-Gongsun (SP4), with additional acupoints selected based on syndrome differentiation. This approach aims to restore the clarity of the brain and heart, replenish kidney qi, and unblock the essence chamber, thereby facilitating the restoration of normal functions of the brain, heart, kidney, and essence chamber, and alleviating ED symptoms and improving overall clinical efficacy.

Based on the"brain-heart-kidney-seminal chamber"axis theory to understand the pathogenesis of coronary heart disease(CHD)complicated with erectile dysfunction(ED),it is considered that the dysfunction of the"brain-heart-kidney-seminal chamber"axis is closely related to the occurrence of CHD complicated with ED,in which kidney deficiency is the initial factor;heart brain disorder, loss of consciousness is the key to the pathogenesis;the loss of seminal chamber is an important link in the pathogenesis.Under the guidance of the concept of"brain-heart-kidney-seminal chamber"axis,Cistanches Herba-Rehmannize Radix et Praeparata-Cuscutae Semen were used to invigorate the kidney and regulate the essence of the brain, heart, kidney and seminal chamber;Salviea Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma-Chuanxiong Rhizoma-Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus can reach the heart and brain, calm the heart and calm the mind;Cyathulae Radix-Scolopendra-Spatholobi Caulis can adjust and restore the seminal chamber, moistening the tendons and vibrating the flaccidity. In clinical practice, the whole medication should be used to make the brain, heart and kidney in harmony with the seminal chamber at the same time, and the drugs should be flexibly added and subtracted according to the specific symptoms of patients to enhance the curative effect of CHD patients with ED.

The theory of "brain-heart-kidney-semen chamber" axis is proposed based on the basic theories of traditional Chinese medicine, the modern physiological characteristics of men's diseases, and clinical practice. According to this theory, dysfunctions of the brain, heart, kidney, and semen chamber are the core mechanisms for the occurrence of premature ejaculation, and the loss of control of the opening and closing of the seminal orifices due to the dysfunction of the semen chamber is the final link in the occurrence of premature ejaculation. The treatment of premature ejaculation based on the theory of "brain-heart-kidney-essence chamber" axis highlights the overall regulation of the Zang-fu organs involved in the disease, while focusing on the simultaneous treatment of the mind and body. By exploring the biological basis of the "brain-heart-kidney-essence chamber" axis and premature ejaculation, we propose that the biological basis of premature ejaculation and the axis is mainly related to the function decline of the local brain area, neuromodulation malfunction, central neurotransmitter imbalance, endocrine disorders, and enhanced sensory afferents of the penis. This study aims at providing a new approach for the prevention and treatment of premature ejaculation by traditional Chinese medicine and a scientific basis for the development of more effective therapeutic methods.

Objective To explore the protective effects of erythropoietin (EPO) on cardiomyocytes against hypoxia/reoxygenation (HR) injury. Method Isolated and cultured rat eardiomyocytes were subjected to 2-hour hypoxia followed by 1 hour reoxygenation to establish model of HR injury. Cardiomyocytes were randomly divided into 4 groups: sham group, HR group, HR + EPO-treated group (EPO 10 U/ml), and HR + EPO + UO126-treated group (U0126 10?mol/L). The concentration of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) in culture medium was detected by automatic biochemical analyzer; viability of eardiomyocytes was measured by MTT assay; apoptosis ratio was determined by TUNEL technology and Annexin-V-FITC with flow cytometer (FCM); level of extracellular signal- regulated kinase 1/2 (ERK_(1/2)) and phospho-ERK_(1/2) were measured by Western-blot analysis. Results EPO significantly decreased the leakage of LDH, enhanced activity, reduced apoptosis ratio, and increased level of phospho-ERK_(1/2).However, the effects were blocked by U0126, an inhibitor of MAPK. Conclusions EPO has the protective effects on cardiomyocytes against HR injury possibly via the mechanism of activation of ERK_(1/2) and inhibition of apoptosis.

Journal of Medical Postgraduates 2003;0(06):-
Objective: To explore the feasibility of observing hemodynamics on ischemia/reperfusion(I/R) rat heart model in vivo by studying the changes of hemodynamics, myocardial zymogram and electrocardiogram. Methods: Twenty SD rats were randomly divided into 2 groups(n=10)(IR group and control group). The left anterior descending coronary artery was ligated or left untouched,a catheter was put into the left ventricle to trace the pressure change index and peak pressure of left ventricle, and to record ST segment changes of ECG.At the end of experiment, the levels of myocardial zymogram were determined. The results of two groups were compared. Results: Compared with control group,IR group showed reduced dp/dt max, declined LVSP,raised ST segment in ECG,and elevated myocardium zymogram. Conclusion: Our I/R rat heart model in vivo is feasible and stable to explore the cardiac hemodynamics.
