OBJECTIVES: To report the development, validation, and findings of the Multi-dimensional Attention Rating Scale (MARS), a self-report tool crafted to evaluate six-dimension attention levels. METHODS: The MARS was developed based on Classical Test Theory (CTT). Totally 202 highly educated healthy adult participants were recruited for reliability and validity tests. Reliability was measured using Cronbach's alpha and test-retest reliability. Structural validity was explored using principal component analysis. Criterion validity was analyzed by correlating MARS scores with the Toronto Hospital Alertness Test (THAT), the Attentional Control Scale (ACS), and the Attention Network Test (ANT). RESULTS: The MARS comprises 12 items spanning six distinct dimensions of attention: focused attention, sustained attention, shifting attention, selective attention, divided attention, and response inhibition.As assessed by six experts, the content validation index (CVI) was 0.95, the Cronbach's alpha for the MARS was 0.78, and the test-retest reliability was 0.81. Four factors were identified (cumulative variance contribution rate 68.79%). The total score of MARS was correlated positively with THAT (r = 0.60, P < 0.01) and ACS (r = 0.78, P < 0.01) and negatively with ANT's reaction time for alerting (r = -0.31, P = 0.049). CONCLUSIONS The MARS can reliably and validly assess six-dimension attention levels in real-world settings and is expected to be a new tool for assessing multi-dimensional attention impairments in different mental disorders.

The deficiency of fingers due to various reasons leads to a certain degree of loss of full or part hand functions. Physical and mental health of patients are seriously affected, and patients have varying degrees of reduced quality of life. Prosthesis fingers play an important role in completing the body shape and enhancing patients’ self-confidence and self-esteem. However, how to make prosthesis fingers perform coordinated movements and restore complete functions is a crucial problem that urgently needs to be solved. This paper reviews the methods of brain-computer interface controlled fine finger movements and elaborates on the origin, current situation, and advancements of the development of this technology, laying a foundation for subsequent research, with the expectation of helping patients solve the problems arising from the insufficiency or absence of finger functions.

Objective:To explore the establishment, implementation, and application effect of the annual progressive assessment mode for standardized training of resident physicians in a medical laboratory base.Methods:Since 2020, the base has improved the annual progressive assessment system through assessment system establishment, question bank construction, routine assessment, rotation examination, and annual examination. This new assessment mode was adopted for the residency trainees enrolled in the base after 2020. The control group consisted of seven residency trainees enrolled before 2020, while the experimental group comprised 13 trainees enrolled in 2020 and later. The two groups were compared based on the rotation and annual examination scores of second- and third-year trainees, as well as their academic achievements. Additionally, teaching outcomes of the base before and after 2020 were analyzed. The t test, rank-sum test, and Fisher's exact test were performed using SPSS 27.00. Results:There were no significant differences in age, sex, and education level between the two groups. The experimental group showed significantly higher scores than the control group in theory assessment ( P<0.001 for second-year trainees and P=0.008 for third-year trainees) and skill assessment ( P<0.001 for second-year trainees and P=0.038 for third-year trainees) in rotation examination, as well as in theory assessment (both P<0.001) and skill assessment (both P<0.001) in annual examination. The improvement was particularly pronounced among second-year trainees. The trainees of the experimental group submitted 17 case reports in three years, and won awards at national conferences, provincial conferences, and institutional case speech competitions. In a national academic conference, the trainees won the second prize of "Excellent Case". Since 2020, we have been granted with our first teaching reform project and published our first teaching article. To date, we have obtained five teaching reform projects, published six teaching articles, and won multiple awards in provincial and institutional teaching competitions. Objective:To explore the clinical effect of Triangle hierarchical management in patients with acute non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction(NSTEMI)after percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI).Methods:A total of 107 NSTEMI patients who underwent PCI in our hospital from Jan 2019 to Dec 2022 were selected.Ac-cording to the random number table method,patients were divided into control group(n=53)and observation group(n=54).Patients in the control group received routine rehabilitation training,while observation group re-ceived Triangle hierarchical management based on control group,both groups were intervened for 6 months.Car-diopulmonary function indexes,scores of myocardial infarction dimensional assessment scale(MIDAS)and general self-efficacy scale(GSES)before and after intervention,and incidence of adverse events during follow-up were compared between two groups.Results:During study period,two cases were lost in the control group and one case withdrew in the observation group,with 51 and 53 cases finally enrolled in each group,respectively.Compared with the control group after intervention,there were significant rise in forced expiratory volume in one second(FEV1)[(2.98±0.27)L vs.(3.30±0.35)L],FEV1/forced vital capacity(FVC)[(72.65±4.31)％vs.(77.06±3.95)％]and GSES score[(18.53±2.63)points vs.(26.89±3.19)points],and significant reduction in MIDAS total score[(65.53±4.86)points vs.(56.26±4.38)points]in observation group(P＜0.001 all).There was no significant difference in the incidence rate of adverse events between control group and observation group during fol-low-up(13.73％vs.7.55％,P=0.306).Conclusion:Triangle hierarchical management may significantly improve lung function,self-efficacy and quality of life with high safety in patients with acute non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction after PCI,suggesting that it worths promoting in clinical practice.

Several mitochondrial dysfunctions in obesity and diabetes include impaired mitochondrial membrane potential, excessive mitochondrial reactive oxygen species generation, reduced mitochondrial DNA, increased mitochondrial Ca2+ flux, and mitochondrial dynamics disorders. Mitophagy, specialized autophagy, is responsible for clearing dysfunctional mitochondria in physiological and pathological conditions. As a paradox, inhibition and activation of mitophagy have been observed in obesity and diabetes-related heart disorders, with both exerting bidirectional effects. Suppressed mitophagy is beneficial to mitochondrial homeostasis, also known as benign mitophagy. On the contrary, in most cases, excessive mitophagy is harmful to dysfunctional mitochondria elimination and thus is defined as detrimental mitophagy. In obesity and diabetes, two classical pathways appear to regulate mitophagy, including PTEN-induced putative kinase 1 (PINK1)/Parkin-dependent mitophagy and receptors/adapters-dependent mitophagy. After the pharmacologic interventions of mitophagy, mitochondrial morphology and function have been restored, and cell viability has been further improved. Herein, we summarize the mitochondrial dysfunction and mitophagy alterations in obesity and diabetes, as well as the underlying upstream mechanisms, in order to provide novel therapeutic strategies for the obesity and diabetes-related heart disorders.

Strigolactones(SLs) are a class of sesquiterpenoids derived from the carotenoid biosynthesis pathway with the core carbon skeleton consisting of tricyclic lactone(ABC tricyclic ring) and α,β-unsaturated furan ring(D ring). SLs are widely distributed in higher plants and are symbiotic signals between plants and Arbuscular mycorrhiza(AM), which play key roles in the evolution of plant colonizing terrestrial habitats. As a new type of plant hormone, SLs possess such important biological functions as inhibiting shoot branching(tillers), regulating root architecture, promoting secondary growth, and improving plant stress resistance. Therefore, SLs have attracted wide attention. The biological functions of SLs are not only closely related to the formation of "excellent shape and quality" of Chinese medicinal materials but also have important practical significance for the production of high-quality medicinal materials. However, SLs have been currently widely studied in model plants and crops such as Oryza sativa and Arabidopsis thaliana, and few related studies have been reported on SLs in medicinal plants, which need to be strengthened. This review focused on the latest research progress in the isolation and identification, biological and artificial synthesis pathways, biosynthesis sites and transport modes, signal transduction pathways and mechanisms, and biological functions of SLs, and prospected the research on the regulation mechanism of SLs in the growth and development of medicinal plants and their related application on targeted regulation of Chinese herbal medicine production, which is expected to provide some references for the in-depth research on SLs in the field of Chinese medicinal resources.

OBJECTIVE: This study was conducted to explore the mechanism of intestinal inflammation and barrier repair in Crohn's disease (CD) regulated by moxibustion through bile acid (BA) enterohepatic circulation and intestinal farnesoid X receptor (FXR). METHODS: Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into control group, CD model group, mild moxibustion group and herb-partitioned moxibustion group. CD model rats induced by 2,4,6-trinitrobenzene sulfonic acid were treated with mild moxibustion or herb-partitioned moxibustion at Tianshu (ST25) and Qihai (CV6). The changes in CD symptoms were rated according to the disease activity index score, the serum and colon tissues of rats were collected, and the pathological changes in colon tissues were observed via histopathology. Western blot, immunohistochemistry (IHC) and immunofluorescence were used to evaluate the improvement of moxibustion on intestinal inflammation and mucosal barrier in CD by the BA-FXR pathway. RESULTS: Mild moxibustion and herb-partitioned moxibustion improved the symptoms of CD, inhibited inflammation and repaired mucosal damage to the colon in CD rats. Meanwhile, moxibustion could improve the abnormal expression of BA in the colon, liver and serum, downregulate the expression of interferon-γ and upregulate the expression of FXR mRNA, and inhibit Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) and myeloid differentiation factor 88 (MyD88) mRNA. The IHC results showed that moxibustion could upregulate the expression of FXR and mucin2 and inhibit TLR4 expression. Western blot showed that moxibustion inhibited the protein expression of TLR4 and MyD88 and upregulated the expression of FXR. Immunofluorescence image analysis showed that moxibustion increased the colocalization sites and intensity of FXR with TLR4 or nuclear factor-κB p65. In particular, herb-partitioned moxibustion has more advantages in improving BA and upregulating FXR and TLR4 in the colon. CONCLUSION Mild moxibustion and herb-partitioned moxibustion can improve CD by regulating the enterohepatic circulation stability of BA, activating colonic FXR, regulating the TLR4/MyD88 pathway, inhibiting intestinal inflammation and repairing the intestinal mucosal barrier. Herb-partitioned moxibustion seems to have more advantages in regulating BA enterohepatic circulation and FXR activation.
