1.Effectiveness evaluation of the construction of "mosquito-free village" in Fuling District

Objective:
To evaluate the effectiveness for the construction of the "mosquito-free village" in Jinzishan Village, Fuling District, Chongqing Municipality, so as to provide references for improving mosquito control practices in hilly and mountainous rural areas.
Methods:
The "mosquito-free village" initiative in Fuling District was launched in April 2023. Mosquito density monitoring was conducted annually from April to October. Larval mosquito density was monitored using the path method and scoop-catch method, and adult mosquito density was monitored using human-baited landing catch. One hundred and fifty-two villagers were randomly conducted before the "mosquito-free village" construction (April 2023) and one hundred and sixty-seven villagers were randomly conducted after the construction (November 2024). Knowledge awareness rate and correct behavioral practices regarding mosquito control among villagers were assessed. The satisfaction among villagers were evaluated in November 2024. The effectiveness of the initiative was evaluated based on mosquito density data, health education outcomes from 2023 to 2024, and satisfaction.
Results:
The average larval mosquitoes path index in Jinshanzi Village decreased from 1.50 spots/km in 2023 to 0.07 spots/km in 2024 (P<0.05). The average sampling spoon index of larval mosquitoes decreased from 3.43% in 2023 to 0 in 2024. The average landing rate index of adult mosquitoes decreased from 3.90 mosquitoes/(person·time) in 2023 to 0.38 mosquitoes/(person·time) in 2024 (P<0.05). The awareness rate of mosquito control knowledge and the formation rate of correct behaviors among villagers increased from 59.87% and 57.24% in 2023 to 92.22% and 90.42% in 2024, respectively (both P<0.05). In 2024, the satisfaction of villagers was 92.81%.
Conclusion
The mosquito density, health education effectiveness, and satisfaction of villagers in Jinzishan Village have all met the evaluation criteria for a "mosquito-free village", providing a replicable model for promotion in hilly and mountainous rural areas.
2.Occupational health literacy and health education needs among workers in chemical enterprises in Fuling District, Chongqing City

Objective To assess the occupational health literacy (OHL) level and health education needs among workers in chemical enterprises in Fuling District, Chongqing City. Methods A total of 8 209 workers from 18 chemical enterprises in Fuling District, Chongqing City were selected as the research subjects using the judgment sampling method. The Occupational Health Literacy Survey Questionnaire designed by the research team was used to survey OHL levels and health education needs in workers. Results The OHL level of the research subjects was 62.1% (5 101/8 209). Multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that the OHL level of male workers was higher than that of females (P<0.01); higher OHL was also associated with higher education level, higher personal monthly income and smaller enterprises of workers (all P<0.01); production team leaders, safety production/technical management personnel, and administrative/logistics staff all had higher OHL levels than front-line operators (all P<0.05); and workers who participated in occupational health knowledge training more frequently had higher OHL levels (all P<0.05). The result of health education needs investigation showed that 97.8% of the research subjects believed that occupational health knowledge training provided by their workplaces could improve workers' OHL levels; the main channels for workers obtaining occupational health knowledge and information on workplace hazards were “employer-organized occupational health training” and “warning signs and labels”, accounting for 93.9% and 90.9%, respectively; 59.9% of workers preferred to acquire occupational health knowledge through “training or publicity organized by their workplace”. However, a current problem with occupational health knowledge publicity is its lack of diverse formats. Conclusion The OHL level of workers in chemical enterprises in Fuling District, Chongqing City is influenced by gender, educational level, enterprise size, job position, monthly personal income, and training status. The formats of occupational health knowledge publicity should be optimized.
3.Effect of gastrodin on chemotherapy-induced neuropathic pain and its mechanism: an analysis via CX3CR1 pathway

Objective To observe the inhibited effect of gastrodin on chemotherapy-induced neuropathic pain and its mechanism.Methods Fifty SD rats,chosen according to the threshold of pain,were randomly divided into 5 groups(n=10):control group,model group,and gastrodin treatment groups (30 mg/kg,60 mg/kg and 120 mg/kg).Vincristine (125 μg/kg,i.p.) was administered on alternate days to establish chemotherapy-induced neuropathic pain models in the model group and gastrodin treatment groups,and then,on the 9th d of modeling rats in the gastrodin treatment groups were treated with different doses of gastrodin,while those in the control group and model group were given normal saline on the 16th d of modeling.Paw withdrawal mechanical threshold and thermal pain threshold were measured;protein expressions of CX3CR1 and p-p38MAPK were detected by Western blotting,and tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α) protein expression was detected by ELISA.Results As compared with control group,model group had significantly decreased pain threshold and increased protein expressions of CX3CR1,p-p38MAPK and TNF-α (P<0.05);as compared with those in the model group,the pain threshold increased and the expressions of CX3CR1,p-p38MAPK and TNF-α decreased in 60 mg/kg and 120 mg/kg gastrodin treatment groups,with significant differences (P<0.05).Conclusion Gastrodin can relieve the chemotherapy-induced neuropathic pain,probably by inhibiting the expressions of CX3CR1 and p-p38MAPK in the activation passageway of microglial cells in the spinal cord,and then,reducing the expression of TNF-α.
