Objective To study the causal relationship between time spent outdoors in summer and myopia by using a two-sample Mendel randomization analysis. Methods In this study,a two-sample Mendelian randomization(MR)a-nalysis was conducted, and the data from the Genome-Wide Association Studies(GWAS)were analyzed to identify whether time spent outdoors in summer could exert a causal effect on myopia. The data of exposure events and outcome events were collected based on European descent, with the significant whole genome(P<0.5 × 10-8)and independent(r2<0.001)single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP)as instrumental variables. The data on time spent outdoors in summer in-cluded 419 314 samples, and the data on myopia included 367906 samples. The OR values were used to evaluate the causal effect of time spent outdoors in summer on myopia risk.Meanwhile, the robustness and pleiotropy of the effect estimates of the heterogeneity and sensitivity analysis were also analyzed. Results The results of inverse variance weighted(IVW)random effects after the analysis based on 33 SNPs were:OR=0.604 952 2;95%CI:0.527-0.693;P=4.959 237 × 10-13.It was found that there was a causal relationship between time spent outdoors in summer and myopia. At the same time, there was some heterogeneity(I2=0.42)and no significant pleiotropy(intercept=-0.0066,SE=0.004 82,P=0.182)in the effect estimation. The IVW analysis results showed that shorter time spent outdoors in summer could increase the risk of myopia.Meanwhile, the analysis results based on the weighted median(WM)method and MR-Egger regression also re-sulted in similar results. The sensitivity analysis showed that genetic pleiotropy did not induce bias in the results. In sum-mary,for every one standard deviation decrease in the time spent outdoors in summer after the logarithmic transformation, the risk of myopia increased by 39%.Conclusion There may be a negative causal relationship between time spent out-doors in summer and myopia.

Yiqi Fumai freeze-dried powder for injection was used as a model drug to establish an evaluation method mainly based on bio-thermodynamics profile detection. Fischer function was used to analyze the chemical and biological data In general, chemical chromatogram can distinguish the expired sample and thermal spectrum of biological activity can distinguish special samples exactly. Thus, we established the evaluation method regarding the quality volatility of Yiqi Fumai freeze-dried powder for injection. The method can be used as a useful supplement in quality control as, and it could provide some technical information for quality control of other varieties of traditional Chinese medicine for injection.

OBJECTIVETo study different processing method and mature stage on the quantity of the Schisandra chinensis in the Xinbin region of Liaoning.
METHODThe schisantherin A and 5-hydroxymethylufrurfal (5-HMF) content in S. chinensis was determined by using the HPLC method. The organic acids content was determined by potentiometric titration. The polysaccharide content was determined by oxidation reduction titration. The volatile oil content was determined by steam distillation.
RESULTThe quantity of S. chinensis was different due to different processing method and mature stage.
CONCLUSIONThe different processing method and mature stage have significant influence on the quantity of S. chinensis.

Objective: To identify the influence of extracts and active components of Rhizoma Coptidis on gastric smooth muscle contractility of guinea pigs, and to explore the potential pharmacological mechanism of Rhizoma Coptidis in "invigorating the stomach" and "impairing the stomach". Methods: Observing the effects of the water extract and the alkaloids from Rhizoma Coptidis (at doses ranging from 0.3 to 1 000 mug/L) and other active components such as berberine, palmatine and jatrorrhizine (at doses ranging from 0.3 to 1 000 mumol/L) on the spontaneous and electrical field stimulation (EFS)-induced contractions of antral circular smooth muscle strips from guinea pig stomach via a force transducer in vitro. Results: The water extract or the alkaloids from Rhizoma Coptidis could improve the spontaneous contraction at the low doses, but inhibit the spontaneous contraction at the high doses. Berberine, palmatine and jatrorrhizine also showed the similar effects. Moreover, the water extract and the alkaloids of Rhizoma Coptidis, as well as berberine, palmatine and jatrorrhizine could increase the EFS-induced contraction. Among the three monomers, jatrorrhizine exhibited the most potent effect on EFS-induced contraction. Conclusion: The effects of Rhizoma Coptidis in "invigorating the stomach" or "impairing the stomach" may be related to its effect on gastric smooth muscle contractility. Berberine, palmatine and jatrorrhizine are all effective components of Rhizoma Coptidis affecting the contraction of gastric smooth muscle, among which jatrorrhizine is the most potent agent in promoting the contraction while berberine is the most potent one for inhibiting the contraction.

Objective To study the therapeutic effect and mechanism of IL-6 reduced by the early shortlime veno-venous hemodialysis (BVVH) for the treatmnent of severe acute pancreatitis (SAP).Method One hundred and seventy-eight cases with SAP,in depagtment of general surgery, the Third People Hospital,Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, were divided inlo hemodialysis group (HF,85 cases) and non-hemodialysis group (NHF,93 cases). The local and systemic manifestations,APACHE Ⅱ scores, average hospitalizing stay, mean cost of therapy, morbidity of MODS and the mortality of patients were compared between two groups. And the concentration of serum inflammatory factor IL-6 was assayed at different observation intervals. All data were managed by SPSS software and analyzed by using SNK-q test or X2 test. Results The duration for abdominal pain and distension in patiergs of HF group was (18.8+=4.2) h vs.(89.7±28.1) h in those of NHF group,P<0.05.The APACHE Ⅱ scores at the 10th day were (5.5±3.6) vs.(13.8±3.8) (P<0.05).The average hospitalizing stay and the mean costs of medical care were (28.2+ 12.4) d vs.(42.4+11.2) d and (43800±28000) vs.(74600±22000) RMB(P<0.05) respectively. The concontrafion of serum inflammatory factor IL-6 in HF group decreased significantly(P<0.05) in comparison with those in NHF group. And the morbidity such as MODS and the mortality in HF group were significantly less than those in NHF group(P<0.05).Conclusions By BWH,the excessive release of serum inflammatory factor IL-6 could he removed at early stage of SAP.So,it could result in an improving on the severity of the disease and raise the therapeutic efficacy.

Orthopedic Journal of China 2006;0(09):-
[Objective]To introduce the knowledge for the diagnosis of acute gout arthritis that attacked initially in the knee and improve its early treatment.[Method]Seventeen cases with acute gout arthritis in the knee were diagnosed and treated under arthroscopy since 2000.The experiences were analysed retrospectively and the therapatic results were observed through a follow-up of more than 6 months.[Result]Before arthroscopy, only 5 cases were considered as acute gout arthritis, the other 12 cases were given a misdiagnosis. All the patients were diagnosed and given a debridment simutaneously under arthoscopy. Then, the patients were given an postoperative systematic drugs therapy. The follow-up(ranged from 10 to 24 months)showed that all the patients acquired a short-term and long-term satisfactory therapeutic effect.[Conclusion]The acute gout arthritis attacked initially in the knee is rare and its misdiagnosis rate is very high. The significant improvement and extensive application of arthroscopic techniques will improve its diagnosis rate and provide a new way for its early surgical treatment.
