Objective:To explore the clinical application value of the measured femoral offset(FO)based on three-dimensional modeling of spiral computed tomography(CT)in percutaneous-assisted superior capsulotomy approach for total hip arthroplasty(THA).Methods:A total of 92 patients with fractures at hip joint who underwent percutaneous-assisted superior capsulotomy approach for THA at the 904th Hospital of People's Liberation Army Joint Service Support Force between January 2023 and June 2024 were prospectively enrolled.According to the preoperative FO median(34.8 mm)that was measured by CT,these patients were divided into high-FO group(n=46)and low-FO group(n=46).Postoperative outcomes between two groups, which included bone density T value(T value),FO value, external tilt angle and forward tilt angle of mortar cup,and the deviation of femoral stem alignment,as well as the scores of Harris Hip Score(HHS),Visual Analog Scale(VAS),positive rate of Trendelenburg sign and incidence of complication, were compared. Results:The preoperative bone density T value of high-FO group was(-1.1±0.7),which was higher than(-1.3±0.8)of low-FO group, and the difference was not significant(P>0.05).The FO was(38.5±3.4)mm in high-FO group, which was lower than(30.9±2.7)in low-FO group, and the difference was significant(t=12.356,P<0.001).The external tilt angle and forward tilt angle of mortar cup,and the deviation of femoral stem alignment of high-FO group were respectively(42.6±3.9)°,(16.8±2.6)° and(1.1±0.7)mm,which were lower than(43.4±4.1)°,(17.5±3.0)° and(1.3±0.8)mm of low-FO group, and the differences were not significant(P>0.05).The HHS scores at the 1st,3rd,6th and 12th month after surgery in high-FO group were significantly better than those of low-FO group, and the differences were significant(t=3.104,4.772,6.358,7.326,P<0.05).The VAS scores at the 3rd and 12th month after surgery in high-FO group were significantly lower than those in low-FO group, and the difference was significant(t=-9.215,-7.582,P<0.05).The positive rate of Trendelenburg sign at the 1st month after surgery in high-FO group was 15.2%(7/46),which was significantly lower than 39.1%(18/46)in low-FO group, and the difference was significant(x2=7.324,P<0.05).The used time of walking aids was shortened by 37%[(13.5±3.1)d]in high-FO group, which was significantly shorter than[(21.4±4.9)d]in low-FO group, and the difference was significant(t=9.127,P<0.05).Conclusion:Spiral CT-guided FO precision reconstruction can significantly enhance postoperative recovery quality of joint function of patients who undergo percutaneous-assisted superior capsulotomy approach for THA,and reduce the risks of abnormal gait and dislocation.
2.The study of traditional Chinese medicine five-element music therapy for depression: a bibliometric analysis
Digital Chinese Medicine 2025;8(4):558-570
Objective:
To systematically analyze the research status, highlights, and advancements of five-element music therapy (FEMT) in intervening depression with bibliometric methods.
Methods:
Relevant research literature on FEMT for depression intervention was retrieved from China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang Data, Chinese Science and Technology Journal Database (VIP), and Web of Science (WOS), spanning from January 1, 2000 to August 6, 2025. Bibliometric analysis was performed using Excel, VOSviewer, and CiteSpace, with a focus on dimensions like publication trends, journal distribution, institutional and author collaboration, keyword co-occurrence, clustering, and burst detection, and highly cited publications.
Results:
A total of 382 articles were included, comprising 304 Chinese articles and 78 English articles. Annual publication volume in this field exhibited a steady upward trend, with Chinese literature initiating earlier and maintaining dominance, while English literature demonstrated marked growth from 2019 onward. Network analysis of institutional and author collaborations revealed collaborative networks centered on research teams led by Facai LIN (Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine) and Li LI (Second Affiliated Hospital of Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine), with Chinese authors and institutions remaining dominant contributors to English literature. Keyword analysis indicated that Chinese literature emphasizes clinical applications such as “depression” “five-elements music” “five-tone therapy” and “acupuncture”, whereas English literature prioritize “music therapy” “depression” “randomized controlled trial” and “anxiety” with a focus on mechanisms and standardization. Cluster analysis revealed a paradigm shift from traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) theoretical explanations to research integrating neurobiological mechanisms and modern technologies. Analysis of highly cited literature further corroborated this trend, indicating that FEMT research is transitioning from empirical clinical exploration to evidence-based mechanistic inquiry.
Conclusion
FEMT research on depression shows distinct thematic emphase, with Chinese literature focusing on TCM theory and clinical applications, while English literature emphasize evidence-based mechanisms. Future research should integrate systematic reviews and high-quality clinical trials and strengthen cross-institutional collaboration to enhance mechanistic evidence and broaden the scope of FEMT.

The aim of this study was to investigate the trend in testicular volume changes after orchiopexy in children with cryptorchidism. The clinical data of 854 children with cryptorchidism who underwent orchiopexy between January 2013 and December 2016 in Shenzhen Children's Hospital (Shenzhen, China) were retrospectively analyzed. The mean (standard deviation) age of the patients was 2.8 (2.5) years, and the duration of follow-up ranged from 1 year to 5 years. Ultrasonography was conducted preoperatively and postoperatively. The variables analyzed included age at the time of surgery, type of surgical procedure, laterality, preoperative testicular position, preoperative and postoperative testicular volumes, and the testicular volume ratio of them. The average testicular volumes preoperatively and at 1 year, 2 years, 3 years, and 5 years postoperatively were 0.27 ml, 0.38 ml, 0.53 ml, 0.87 ml, and 1.00 ml, respectively ( P < 0.001). The corresponding testicular volume ratios were 0.67, 0.76, 0.80, 0.83, and 0.84 ( P < 0.001). The mean volume of the undescended testes was significantly smaller than the mean normative value ( P < 0.001, lower than the 10 th percentile). The postoperative testicular volumes in children with cryptorchidism were generally lower than those in healthy boys but were still greater than the 10 th percentile and exhibited an increasing trend. The older the child is at the time of surgery, the larger the gap in volume between the affected and normal testes. Although testicular volume tends to gradually increase after orchiopexy for cryptorchidism, it could not normalizes. Earlier surgery results in affected testicular volumes closer to those of healthy boys.

OBJECTIVE:
To investigate the effects of Danmu Extract Syrup (DMS) on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced acute lung injury (ALI) in mice and explore the mechanism.
METHODS:
Seventy-two male Balb/C mice were randomly divided into 6 groups according to a random number table (n=12), including control (normal saline), LPS (5 mg/kg), LPS+DMS 2.5 mL/kg, LPS+DMS 5 mL/kg, LPS+DMS 10 mL/kg, and LPS+Dexamethasone (DXM, 5 mg/kg) groups. After pretreatment with DMS and DXM, the ALI mice model was induced by LPS, and the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) were collected to determine protein concentration, cell counts and inflammatory cytokines. The lung tissues of mice were stained with hematoxylin-eosin, and the wet/dry weight ratio (W/D) of lung tissue was calculated. The levels of tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin (IL)-6 and IL-1 β in BALF of mice were detected by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay. The expression levels of Claudin-5, vascular endothelial (VE)-cadherin, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), phospho-protein kinase B (p-Akt) and Akt were detected by Western blot analysis.
RESULTS:
DMS pre-treatment significantly ameliorated lung histopathological changes. Compared with the LPS group, the W/D ratio and protein contents in BALF were obviously reduced after DMS pretreatment (P<0.05 or P<0.01). The number of cells in BALF and myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity decreased significantly after DMS pretreatment (P<0.05 or P<0.01). DMS pre-treatment decreased the levels of TNF-α, IL-6 and IL-1 β (P<0.01). Meanwhile, DMS activated the phosphoinositide 3-kinase/protein kinase B (PI3K/Akt) pathway and reversed the expressions of Claudin-5, VE-cadherin and VEGF (P<0.01).
CONCLUSIONS
DMS attenuated LPS-induced ALI in mice through repairing endothelial barrier. It might be a potential therapeutic drug for LPS-induced lung injury.

Progress in Biochemistry and Biophysics 2024;51(11):2853-2867
In recent years, the development of host-acting antibacterial compounds has gradually become a hotspot in the field of anti-infection. Through research on the interaction mechanism between hosts and pathogenic bacteria, it has been found that the immune system is one of the key targets of host-acting antibacterial compounds. There is a communication system called the quorum sensing system in microorganisms, which mainly adjusts the structure of multi-microbial community and coordinates the group behavior. When the quorum sensing molecules secreted by microorganisms reach a threshold concentration, the quorum sensing system is activated and the overall gene expression of the microorganism is changed. In addition to regulating the density of microorganisms, quorum sensing molecules can also act as a link between pathogenic microorganisms and hosts, entering the host immune system and playing a role in affecting the morphological structure of immune cells, secreting cytokines, and inducing apoptosis, leading to host immune injury and causing host immune dysfunction. The key mechanism of 3-oxo-C12-HSL and other acyl-homoserine lactone (AHL) molecules in the innate immune system has been extensively studied. The lipid solubility allows AHLs to pass through the plasma membrane of host immune cells easily and induce dissolution of lipid domains. Then, it acts through signaling pathways such as p38MAPK and JAK-STAT, further influencing the immune cell’s defense response to bacteria and potentially leading to cell apoptosis. Additionally, the human lactonase paraoxonase 2, which can degrade3-oxo-C12-HSL, has been found in macrophage. It acts as an immune regulator that promotes macrophage phagocytosis of pathogens and is hypothesized to have the ability to reduce bacterial resistance. The mechanism of quorum sensing molecules in the adaptive immune system is less studied, the current results suggest that 3-oxo-C12-HSL is closely related to the mitochondrial pathway in host immune cells. For example, 3-oxo-C12-HSL induces apoptosis of Jurkat cells by inhibiting the expression of three mitochondrial electron transport chain proteins; it can also trigger mitochondrial dysfunction and induce mast cell apoptosis through Ca2+ signaling.Among the quorum sensing molecules, the AHLs have the greatest impact on plant immune system. The different effects on plant resistance depends on the chain lengths of acyl groups in bacterial-produced AHLs. Short-chain AHLs (C4-HSL and C8-HSL) induce plant resistance to pathogenic bacteria mainly through the auxin pathway and jasmonic acid pathway. Long-chain AHL (3-oxo-C14-HSL) is commonly used in hosts against fungal pathogens by inducing stomata defense responses, and the reaction process is related to salicylic acid. Diffusible signal factor molecules also interfere with the stomatal immunity caused by pathogens. It may act through the formin nanoclustering-mediated actin assembly and MPK3 pathway to inhibit the innate immunity of Arabidopsis. In summary, AHLs induced different plant pathways and affects the plant-bacteria interactions to trigger plant immunity. As a quorum sensing molecule of fungi, farnesol has similar effects on host immunity as AHLs, such as stimulating cytokine secretion and activating an inflammatory response. It also plays a unique role on dendritic cell differentiation and maturation. In addition, studies have found that farnesol has a protective effect on autoimmune encephalomyelitis, which may be related to its effect on the composition of intestinal microorganisms of the host. Therefore, targeting the host immune system and quorum sensing molecules to develop antibacterial compounds can effectively inhibit the invasion of pathogens and subserve the host to resist the influence of pathogenic bacteria. This article will review the mechanism of host immune responses triggered by important quorum sensing molecules, aiming to explore the targets of host-acting antibacterial compounds and provide new directions for the prevention or treatment of causative infectious sources and the development of related drugs.
