Objective:
To investigate the epidemiological characteristics and spatial-temporal clustering of severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) in Huai'an City, Jiangsu Province from 2011 to 2024, so as to provide a basis for optimizing local SFTS prevention and control strategies, and identifying high-risk areas and key populations.
Methods:
Data on SFTS incidence and deaths in Huai'an City from 2011 to 2024 were collected from the Infectious Disease Reporting Information System of the Chinese Disease Prevention and Control Information System. The reported incidence, mortality, and fatality rates were calculated. Descriptive analysis was performed on temporal, population, and regional distribution. The average annual percent change (AAPC) was used to analyze the trend in the reported incidence of SFTS. Global and local spatial autocorrelation analyses were employed to examine the spatial distribution patterns and spatial association patterns of SFTS incidence while spatio-temporal scanning analyses was used to assess the spatial-temporal clustering of SFTS.
Results:
A total of 337 SFTS cases were reported in Huai'an City from 2011 to 2024, with the reported incidence rising from 0.17/100 000 to 1.88/100 000. There were 20 deaths, with an average annual mortality of 0.03/100 000, and a fatality rate of 5.93%. The incidence showed obvious seasonality, with a peak in May and June (148 cases, accounting for 43.92%). Spring and summer accounted for 107 cases (31.75%) and 159 cases (47.18%), respectively. The reported SFTS cases were mainly male, farmers, and individuals aged ≥41 years, accounting for 56.38%, 79.23%, and 96.74%, respectively. The population distribution of death cases was basically consistent with that of incident cases. Xuyi County was a high-incidence area, with a total of 332 reported cases, accounting for 98.52%. All death cases were reported in this county. Spatial autocorrelation analyses revealed a positive spatial correlation in SFTS incidence from 2019 to 2024, with Moran's I values ranging from 0.214 to 0.336 (all P<0.05). Heqiao Town, Tianquanhu Town, and Guiwu Town in Xuyi County were identified as high-high clustering areas. Spatio-temporal scanning analyses showed that cluster 1 was consistent with the high-high clustering areas, with an aggregation time from the second quarter of 2019 to the second quarter of 2022.
Conclusions
From 2011 to 2024, the reported incidence of SFTS in Huai'an City showed an upward trend, with a high incidence in spring and summer. Males, farmers, and the middle-aged and elderly population were the key populations for prevention and control. Xuyi County was the key area for prevention and control.

Poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase 1 (PARP1) is a multifunctional protein involved in diverse cellular functions, notably DNA damage repair. Pharmacological inhibition of PARP1 has therapeutic benefits for various pathologies. Despite the increased use of PARP inhibitors, challenges persist in achieving PARP1 selectivity and effective blood-brain barrier (BBB) penetration. The development of a PARP1-specific positron emission tomography (PET) radioligand is crucial for understanding disease biology and performing target occupancy studies, which may aid in the development of PARP1-specific inhibitors. In this study, we leverage the recently identified PARP1 inhibitor, AZD9574, to introduce the design and development of its 18F-isotopologue ([18F]AZD9574). Our comprehensive approach, encompassing pharmacological, cellular, autoradiographic, and in vivo PET imaging evaluations in non-human primates, demonstrates the capacity of [18F]AZD9574 to specifically bind to PARP1 and to successfully penetrate the BBB. These findings position [18F]AZD9574 as a viable molecular imaging tool, poised to facilitate the exploration of pathophysiological changes in PARP1 tissue abundance across various diseases.

Objective:To analyze the disease burden of Parkinson's disease (PD) in China from 1990 to 2021 and predict the disease burden of PD from 2022 to 2030.Methods:Based on the data of PD incidence in China from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2021 (GBD 2021), changes in PD disease burden from 1990 to 2021 were analyzed. Age-period-cohort model was used to analyze the independent influences of age, period and cohort in PD incidence (according to age group of 5 years, patients were divided into 15 groups: group of 20-24 years, group of 25-29 years..., and group of 90-94 years; according to a 5-year period, patients were divided into 6 groups: group of 1992-1996, group of 1997-2001..., and group of 2017-2021; because of birth cohort=period-age, patients were divided into 20 birth cohorts: birth cohort of 1897-1906, birth cohort of 1902-1911..., and birth cohort of 1992-2001). Nordpred model was used to predict the disease burden of PD from 2022 to 2030.Results:(1) From 1990 to 2021, number of PD patients, and PD incidence and standardized incidence in China showed upward trends. The standardized incidence increased by 89.68% for the total population, 89.71% for males, and 77.64% for females. (2) PD incidence was low in young subjects and increased obviously in subjects aged 60 years. PD incidence in subjects aged 20-24 years or 90-94 years was 0.07/100 000 and 643.31/100 000, respectively. Compared with female subjects, male subjects aged 60-94 years had higher PD incidence. (3) The onset relative risk increased from 0.71 (95% CI: 0.69-0.73) in group of 1992-1996 to 1.17 (95% CI: 1.16-1.19) in group of 2017-2021 in the total population, increased from 0.68 (95% CI: 0.66-0.70) to 1.18 (95% CI: 1.16-1.21) in males, and increased from 0.75 (95% CI: 0.73-0.77) to 1.14 (95% CI: 1.12-1.16) in females. (4) Onset relative risk was 0.40 (95% CI: 0.33-0.48) in the earliest birth cohort (1897-1906), which increased to 1.81 (95% CI: 0.95-3.43) in the latest birth cohort (1992-2001). (5) Number of PD patients in males, females and total population in China would increase to 455 010, 301 173 and 756 183, respectively, and the standardized incidence would increase to 56.45/100 000, 32.28/100 000 and 43.40/100 000, respectively, till 2030. Conclusion:PD disease burden in China from 1990 to 2021 is severe, particularly among males and the elderly; the disease burden is projected to continue rising up till 2030.

China Pharmacy 2024;35(2):251-256
Levetiracetam (LEV) is the second generation of broad-spectrum anti-epileptic drug. LEV has the advantages of rapid absorption, short half-life, precise efficacy, good tolerance and few drug interactions. In order to improve the clinical efficacy of LEV, and reduce the occurrence of adverse reactions, children, pregnant women, the elderly, and patients with renal insufficiency should receive therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM). Clinically, the samples are usually plasma or serum, and the TDM methods are mostly immunoassay or chromatography. There is currently no consensus on the effective concentration range of LEV, and the correlation between plasma concentration and adverse reactions is also unclear. The main factors affecting LEV plasma concentration include age, pregnancy, and patient compliance. How to interpret TDM results and adjust dosage based on the results will be the focus of future work.
