OBJECTIVE To investigate the effects of the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors δ (PPARδ) agonist GW501516 on the injury of pulmonary artery endothelial cells (PAECs) induced by hypoxia and its mechanism. METHODS The cytotoxic effects of GW501516 were observed by detecting the relative survival rate of PAECs; the protein expression of PPARδ was determined by Western blot assay. The cellular model of PAECs injury was established under hypoxic conditions; using antioxidant N-acetylcysteine (NAC) as positive control, the effects of GW501516 on cell injury and reactive oxygen species (ROS) production were investigated by detecting cell apoptotic rate, cell viability, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) activity and ROS levels. Using nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2(Nrf2) activator dimethyl fumarate (DMF) as positive control, PAECs were incubated with GW501516 and/or Nrf2 inhibitor ML385 under hypoxic conditions; the mechanism of GW501516 on PAECs injury induced by hypoxia was investigated by detecting cell injury (cell apoptosis, cell viability, LDH activity), the levels of superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GPx), catalase (CAT), malondialdehyde (MDA) and ROS, the expressions of Nrf2, heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) and cleaved-caspase-3 (C-caspase-3) protein. RESULTS The results demonstrated that hypoxia inhibited the protein expression of PPARδ (P<0.05), while GW501516 promoted the protein expression of PPARδ in hypoxia- exposed PAECs without obvious cytotoxic effects. GW501516 inhibited the apoptosis of PAECs, improved cell viability, and reduced LDH activity and ROS levels. GW501516 could up-regulate the protein expression of HO-1 in PAECs and the levels of SOD, GPx and CAT, while down-regulated the levels of MDA and ROS by activating the Nrf2 pathway (P<0.05); but Nrf2 inhibitor ML385 could reverse the above effects of GW501516 (P<0.05). GW501516 exerted similar effects to Nrf2 activator DMF in down-regulating the expression of C-caspase-3 and inhibiting the injury of PAECs under conditions of hypoxia (P<0.05). Moreover, Nrf2 inhibitor ML385 reversed the 163.com inhibition effects of GW501516 on PAECs injury (P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS GW501516 can relieve the hypoxia-induced injury of PAECs via the inhibition of oxidative stress, the mechanism of which may be associated with activating Nrf2.

two groups of patients(P>0.05).At 3 and 6 months after surgery, the RUV and serum tPSA levels of patients in both groups were significantly lower than those before surgery, while the Qmax was signifi-cantly higher than that before surgery(P<0.05).The RUV and serum tPSA levels of patients in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group, while the Qmax was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).Before surgery, there was no statistically significant difference in the IIEF-5 and BPH-QOL scores of patients between the two groups(P>0.05).At 3 and 6 months after surgery, the IIEF-5 scores of patients in both groups were significantly lower than those before surgery, while the BPH-QOL scores were significantly higher than those before surgery(P<0.05).The IIEF-5 and BPH-QOL scores of patients in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).The total incidence of complications in the control group and the observation group was 16.67%(10/60)and 5.00%(3/60),respectively,and the total incidence of complications in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group(x2=4.227,P<0.05).Conclusion Green laser anatomical vaporization in the treatment of BPH patients with T2DM can optimize the surgical process, reduce inflammatory stress and the risk of complications, promote early postoperative recovery, improve urodynamics and sexual function, relieve symptoms, and enhance quality of life.

ObjectiveTo provide basic data of daily dietary intake from various food categories as well as in different regions, seasons, genders, and age groups in Shanghai residents aged 15 and over. MethodsMultistage stratified proportional probability sampling (PPS) was used to extract the samples, and food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) was used to investigate the dietary intake of the subjects in four seasons from 2012 to 2013. The weighted statistical analysis of the samples comprehensively considered the sampling design weights, the stratified adjustment weights, and the non-response adjustment weights. ResultsThe total daily dietary intake (excluding drinking water) of residents aged 15 years and above was 1 174.71 g, and the highest three daily dietary intake categories were cereals (252.31 g), vegetables (205.36 g) and fruits (141.00 g). The total daily dietary intake of the residents in the urban area, the suburban area and the rural area was 1 209.15 g,1 172.27 g and 948.50 g, respectively, and the total daily dietary intake in the outer suburb area was significantly lower than that in other areas (F=74.12,P<0.001). The total daily dietary intake in different seasons was 1 232.47 g in spring, 1 166.80 g in summer, 1 241.15 g in autumn and 1 088.83 g in winter, respectively. The total daily dietary intake in winter was lower than that in other seasons (F=15.96,P<0.001). Fruits and beverages intake showed apparent seasonality. The total daily dietary intake in male and female residents was 1 234.03 g and 1 112.32 g, respectively, and the total daily dietary intake of male was higher than that of female (F=78.59,P<0.001). The total daily dietary intake of residents in different age groups was 1 218.64 g for 15‒44 years old, 1 141.27 g for 45‒59 years old, and 1 064.54 g for 60 years old and above (F=20.28,P<0.001). ConclusionThe daily intake of cereals, livestock and poultry meat, aquatic products, eggs and edible oil is relatively balanced, but the daily intake of vegetables, fruits and milk is relatively insufficient for the residents aged 15 years and above in Shanghai. The daily intake of different food types shows distinguishable characteristics in urban and rural areas, seasons, age groups and genders.

Objective:To investigate multimodality imaging characteristics and clinical features of lymphomatosis cerebri (LC) and reasons for misdiagnosis, with the goal of potentially facilitating an early and accurate diagnosis for this often-missed disease. Methods:Clinical data and cerebral multimodality imaging findings from 11 patients with LC proven basing on pathology in the Affiliated Hospital of Guizhou Medical University from November 30, 2011 to December 28, 2020 were retrospectively extracted, analyzed, and reviewed in combination with the literatures. Results:The common presenting symptoms with subacute onset included cognitive decline (8/11), gait disturbance (9/11), and behavioral disturbance (5/11). Test of cerebrospinal fluid showed that the number of cells and the level of protein increased (8/10), the sugar content (2/10) and chloride (4/10) decreased. The imaging manifestations of 11 patients with LC were diffuse lesions of bilateral cerebral white matter in the both deep and lobar lesion distribution, involving the cerebral cortex and subcortical white matter in eight cases (8/11), basal ganglia in seven cases (7/11), thalamus in five cases (5/11), cerebellum in six cases and brain stem in six cases (6/11). All 11 patients showed equal or slightly low-density shadows on CT plain scan and slightly longer T 1WI and T 2WI signals on magnetic resonance imaging. Six cases (6/11) had no obvious enhancement in the early stage, and five cases and six follow-up cases showed heterogenous spots, patches, nodules or clusters of distinct enhancement. Diffusion-weighted imaging showed non restricted diffusion in nine (9/11) cases initially diagnosed, and restricted diffusion in two cases (2/11) and nine follow-up cases, which were hyperintense on diffusion-weighted imaging and hypointense on apparent diffusion coefficient maps. Five patients (5/5) presented a marked decrease in N-acetyl aspartic acid (NAA)/creatine (Cr) and increase in choline (Cho)/Cr on hydrogen proton magnetic resonance spectrum, including an increase in lipid/Cr in three cases. One case (1/3) showed no abnormal increase in lesion metabolism, and two cases (2/3) showed slightly increased uptake on positron emission tomography/CT. Conclusions:Diffuse bilateral cerebral lesions especially in deep and lobar region, without enhancement or with patchy enhancement, marked decrease in NAA/Cr and increase in Cho/Cr and Lip/Cr are suggestive of LC. Misdiagnosis may be mainly due to insufficient understanding and improper brain biopsy.

Chinese Journal of Hepatology 2019;27(9):725-727
Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is one of the common causes for chronic liver diseases, which progress gradually from nonalcoholic type simple fatty liver disease to hepatitis, cirrhosis and even liver failure and hepatocellular carcinoma. Sarcopenia is a progressive disease characterized by reduced skeletal muscle mass and function in association to metabolic dysfunctions. Recent studies have shown that the occurrence and development of NAFLD and sarcopenia are related, and there is a common base for the pathogenesis between the two, which may promote each other for mutual risk factors. This article reviews the current research progress of this field in order to clinically further understand the pathogenesis and intrinsic links between the two to look for appropriate interventions.
