Chinese Journal of Marine Drugs 2007;26(1):8-12
Objective To study the active secondary metabolites from marine microorganism FIM02-635. Methods The producing strain was identified by taxonomical and phylogenetic studies. Two compounds FW635I1 and FW635I2 with immunosuppressive activities were extracted by organic solvents from the culture broth and purified by silica gel column chromatography and high speed counter current chromatography. The structures of the two compounds were determined by physico-chemical properties and spectral analyses, the biological activities were assayed in vitro. Results and Conclusion The producing strain was named as Micromonospora carbonacea FIM 02-635. Two compounds FW635I1 and FW635I2 were determined to be isoflavone Daidzein and Genistein, respectively, showed immunosuppressive and antitumor activities, but not antimicrobial activities.
3.Antiviral activity and its antiviral mechanism of a sulfated polysaccharide from Sargassum patens against respiratory syncytial virus (RSV)
Chinese Journal of Marine Drugs 2006;25(1):32-38
Objective To detect the antiviral effect and its antiviral mechanism of the sulfated polysaccharide SP2 isolated from the brown alga Sargassum patens C. Ag. against RSV.Methods The antiviral activity, cytotoxicity and its possible antiviral mechanism were assayed by cytopathogenic effect (CPE) inhibition assay,MTT assay and plaque reduction assay. Reduction assay when it was added during virus adsorption. It did not show any antiviral activity against influenza A and B viruses and parainfluenza type 3 virus up to the concentration of treatment of cells with SP2 did not protect the cells from RSV infection. This polysaccharide addition assay showed that when SP2 was present only during virus adsorption phase at 37℃, it could significantly inhibit RSV-induced plaque formation. Conclusions SP2 might be a potent substance for treating RSV infection. The mode of action of SP2 might depend on inhibiting RSV attachment to host cells.

Chinese Journal of Marine Drugs 2005;24(2):13-17
Objective To search for triterpene glycoside with new structure. Methods We studied the sea cucumber Colochirous anceps belonging to the family cucumariidea with many chromatography methods and found a new sulfated triterpene glycoside, which structure was established by a combination of spectroscopic analysis (IR, UV, ESI-MS and 2D-NMR), chemical transformations and other chemical evidence. Results and Conclusion The new sulfated triterpene glycoside was isolated and named Colochiroside A (1) .
5.Extraction and purification of the polysaccharides from Dunaliella salina(PDS) residue
Chinese Journal of Marine Drugs 2001;0(05):-
Objective To study the extraction and purification of polysaccharides from D.salina residue after extraction of ?-carotene.Methods The crude polysaccharide was extracted by hot basic water, and then was isolated and purified by the DEAE-cellulose and Sepharose-4B.Results After having been purified by DEAE-cellulose chromatography, three components named PDS_(1),PDS_(2),PDS_(3)were obtained. Each component was divided into two components by Sepharose-4B chromatography, then six components were obtained. Conclusion The six components were identified to be homogeneous polysaccharide-protein complexes which were composed of sulfate radical and uronic acid.
6.Studies on the secondary metabolites from marine fungus 09-1-1-1
Chinese Journal of Marine Drugs 2001;0(05):-
Objective To search for novel antifungal structures produced by marine fungus. Methods Using the Pyricularia oryzae (P.oryzaae) bioassay method to screen marine fungi led to the isolation of marine fungus 09-1-1-1.Active metabolites were isolated from the broth of the marine fungus 09-1-1-1.Results Two compounds were extracted from the mycelium and their structures were elucidated by various spectroscopic methods as 3a,12c-dihydro-8-hydroxy-6-methoxy-7H-furo\furo\xanthen-7-one(Ⅰ,sterigmatocystin) and 1,3,6,8-tetrahydroxy-2-(1-hydroxyhexyl)anthraquinone(Ⅱ,averantin).Conclusion The P.oryzae bioassay was a cheap, quick and convenient method for the screening of bioactive substances from marine fungi.Compound Ⅱ showed potent inhibitory activity to the mycelia of P.oryzae.The MIC of compound Ⅱagainst P.oryzae was 1.6 ?g?mL~(-1).

10.Analysis of spirulina-selenium polysaccharide improvement on mice immunological competence
Chinese Journal of Marine Drugs 2001;0(05):-
Polysaccharide is used for adjuvant immunotherapy of malignant diseases. We studied the potential applicability of Selenium polysaccharide (SePS) from Spirulina platensis for improving immune function using an experimental model of murine lymphoma, compared with polysaccharide (PS) in Spirulina platensis. SePS and PS have no effect on thymus index;spleen cell proliferation was heightened by high concentrations of SePS and PS;synergism of SePS,PS with ConA is significant.SePS treatment enhance the ability of natural killer cell in mice spleen to kill target cell of YAC 1;conclusively,SePS treatment is more significant in the improvement of immuofunction than that of PS.
