Objective To explore the effect of hypoxia-inducible factor-1α(HIF-1α)inhibitor LW6 on ferroptosis in septic cardiomyopathy rats. Methods Rat septic cardiomyopathy model was prepared using cecal ligation and puncture(CLP)method.Thirty-six specific pathogen-free(SPF)6-8 weeks male SD rats were randomly divided into the sham-operated group,CLP group,CLP+solvent group,LW6 group,ferrostatin-1(Fer-1)group,and LW6+Fer-1 group. The degree of myocardial damage in each group was evaluated through hematoxylin-eosin stai-ning and detection of lactate dehydrogenase and creatine kinase content in cardiac tissue.Myocardial mitochondrial damage was observed by transmission electron microscopy.Ferroptosis level was determined by detecting iron ion concentration, reduced glutathione, malondialdehyde, and reactive oxygen species.Protein expression levels of HIF-1α,solute carrier family 7 member 11(SLC7A11),and glutathione peroxidase 4(GPX4)in cardiac tissue were detected by Western blotting. Results Compared with the CLP group and the CLP+solvent group, the LW6 group could ameliorate myocardial damage, alleviate mitochondrial damage, inhibit ferroptosis-related indicators(all P<0.05),reduce HIF-1α protein expression levels(P<0.05),and enhance SLC7A11 and GPX4 protein expression levels(both P<0.05).Conclusion LW6 decreases HIF-1α expression and ferroptosis levels through the SLC7A11/GPX4 pathway, and ameliorates sepsis-induced cardiomyopathy.

Objective:To determine the prevalence of self-reported food allergies among children in the grasslands of North China and to analyze its associated risk factors. Methods:In this study, a cross-sectional epidemiological survey method was used to select children under 14 years old by multi-stage, stratified and random cluster sampling in the grassland ecological area of Zhangbei County, Hebei Province, China from May to July 2018. Face-to-face questionnaires were administered to gather food allergy-related information from the participants. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the risk factors associated with self-reported food allergy. Results:A total of 2 086 children completed the survey. The prevalence of self-reported food allergies was 22.0%(459/2 086). The prevalence of multiple food allergies (≥3 types) was 3.1%(64/2 086) versus 16.3% (341/2 086) for a single food allergy among all children. Mango allergy (6.1%, 127/2 086) was the most common, followed by peach allergy (4.1%, 85/2 086). Children who reported food allergies had a significantly higher prevalence of all 4 atopic disorders (eczema, asthma, allergic rhinitis, and allergic conjunctivitis than those without food allergies(35.73% vs. 20.65%, 5.88% vs. 2.77%, 17.86% vs. 7.38%, 16.78% vs. 10.45%, χ2 =44.663 1, 10.434 3, 45.038 3, 13.728 4, all P<0.001).Significantly associated risk factors of food allergy were found to be pollen allergy ( OR: 2.29; 95% CI: 1.80-2.92) and drug allergy ( OR: 1.53; 95% CI: 1.12-2.09). Conclusions:The prevalence of self-reported food allergies among children in the Zhangbei County area of the North China Grassland was relatively high. Pollen allergy and drug allergy are major risk factors.

Journal of Regional Anatomy and Operative Surgery 2025;34(7):563-569
Objective To determine the knee joint cartilage thickness using different methods and explore the feasibility of mathematical statistical models of dataset for the prediction of cartilage thickness. Methods A total of 304 patients diagnosed as knee osteoarthritis(OA)combined with varus deformity and undergoing unilateral total knee arthroplasty at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Army Medical University from March 2023 to March 2024 were selected for the study. All patients had complete preoperative and postoperative clinical data. The healthy cartilage at four anatomical sites of patients, including the distal femur lateral condyle, lateral tibial plateau, posterior medial femoral condyle, and posterior lateral femoral condyle were selected, and the knee joint cartilage thickness was determined based on preoperative MRI analysis, robotic navigation system tracing, tissue section of surgical specimen and digital vernier caliper. The baseline indicators of demographics, disease and imaging ffor patients were collected to construct a dataset, and four models of linear regression analysis, principal component analysis,Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator(LASSO)regression analysis, and K-nearest neighbors(KNN)analysis were established for predicting the accuracy, determination coefficient(R2)and root mean square error(RMSE),and the regression equation for predicting cartilage thickness was established. Results The knee joint cartilage thicknesses determined by preoperative MRI analysis, robotic navigation system tracing, tissue section of surgical specimen had no statistically significant difference with that by digital vernier caliper(P>0.05).The predictive efficiencies of models of linear regression analysis, principal component analysis, and LASSO regression analysis for the knee joint cartilage thickness all failed to meet the expectations(R2<0.3,RMSE>0.03).The predictive effect of KNN model on the cartilage thickness of the distal femur lateral condyle and lateral tibial plateau was not ideal(R2=0.23,RMSE=0.29),while it had potential predictive value(accuracy=0.21,accuracy=0.15).Conclusion The prediction model of knee joint cartilage thickness based on individual parameters has certain scientificity, and the feasibility of KNN model is relatively high. However, due to insufficient sample size and unclear individual parameter weight, the efficiencies of the four established prediction models are not ideal, which fails to provide definite prediction equations. Therefore, the construction scheme of the prediction model still needs to be further optimized.
