The objective of this study is to map the global scientific competitive landscape in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) medical devices using scientific data. A bibliometric analysis was conducted using the Web of Science Core Collection to examine global research trends in AI-based medical devices. As of the end of 2023, a total of 55 147 relevant publications were identified worldwide, with 76.6% published between 2018 and 2024. Research in this field has primarily focused on AI-assisted medical image and physiological signal analysis. At the national level, China (17 991 publications) and the United States (14 032 publications) lead in output. China has shown a rapid increase in publication volume, with its 2023 output exceeding twice that of the U.S.; however, the U.S. maintains a higher average citation per paper (China: 16.29; U.S.: 35.99). At the institutional level, seven Chinese institutions and three U.S. institutions rank among the global top ten in terms of publication volume. At the researcher level, prominent contributors include Acharya U Rajendra, Rueckert Daniel and Tian Jie, who have extensively explored AI-assisted medical imaging. Some researchers have specialized in specific imaging applications, such as Yang Xiaofeng (AI-assisted precision radiotherapy for tumors) and Shen Dinggang (brain imaging analysis). Others, including Gao Xiaorong and Ming Dong, focus on AI-assisted physiological signal analysis. The results confirm the rapid global development of AI in the medical device field, with "AI + imaging" emerging as the most mature direction. China and the U.S. maintain absolute leadership in this area-China slightly leads in publication volume, while the U.S., having started earlier, demonstrates higher research quality. Both countries host a large number of active research teams in this domain.

Inflammatory diseases (IDs) are a general term of diseases characterized by chronic inflammation as the primary pathogenetic mechanism, which seriously affect the quality of patient′s life and cause significant social and medical burden. Current drugs for IDs include nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, corticosteroids, immunomodulators, biologics, and antioxidants, but these drugs may cause gastrointestinal side effects, induce or worsen infections, and cause non-response or intolerance. Given the outstanding performance of metal polyphenol network (MPN) in the fields of drug delivery, biomedical imaging, and catalytic therapy, its application in the diagnosis and treatment of IDs has attracted much attention and significant progress has been made. In this paper, we first provide an overview of the types of IDs and their generating mechanisms, then sort out and summarize the different forms of MPN in recent years, and finally discuss in detail the characteristics of MPN and their latest research progress in the diagnosis and treatment of IDs. This research may provide useful references for scientific research and clinical practice in the related fields.

A 20-year-old male patient presented to the Department of Dermatology of Peking Union Medical College Hospital with complaints of an 8-year history of facial scarring, swelling of the lower limbs, and a 4-year history of scalp thickening. Physical examination showed thickening furrowing wrinkling of the skin on the face and behind the ears, ciliary body hirsutism, blepharoptosis, and cutis verticis gyrate. Both lower limbs were swollen, especially the knees and ankles. The skin of the palms and soles of the feet was keratinized and thickened. Laboratory examination using bone and joint X-ray showed periostosis of the proximal middle phalanges and metacarpals of both hands, distal ulna and radius, tibia and fibula, distal femurs, and metatarsals.Genetic testing revealed two variants in

Objective:To explore the mechanism of Lingze Tablets(LZT)acting on BPH in rats based on the VEGFA/TNF/IL-6 signaling pathway. Methods:We equally randomized 30 SPF SD male rats into five groups, normal control,BPH model con-trol,low-dose LZT,medium-dose LZT and high-dose LZT,and established a BPH model in the latter four groups by induction with non-castrate testosterone propionate. After the modeling,we treated the rats in the normal and model groups by intragastrical adminis-tration of physiological saline, and those in the latter three groups with low-,medium-,and high-dose LZT respectively, all for 28 suc-cessive days. Then we collected the prostate tissue from the animals for observation of the changes in the prostatic indexes and histo-morphology,detected the expressions of the proteins related to the VEGFA/TNF/IL-6 signaling pathway, and compared the data ob-tained among different groups. Results:Compared with the normal controls, the rats in the model control group showed significant pros-tatic hyperplasia, markedly increased prostatic index([0.84±0.01]g,P<0.05),thickness of the prostatic epithelia and infiltra-tion of the luminal area, and dramatically up-regulated protein expressions of VEGFA(0.60±0.02,P<0.05),TNF(0.76±0.02,P<0.05)and IL-6(0.64±0.02,P<0.05).In comparison with the model controls, the rats in the low-,medium-and high-dose LZT groups exhibited significantly decreased prostatic indexes([0.76±0.02]g,[0.58±0.02]g and[0.52 0.01]g,all P<0.05),improved prostatic histomorphology, and down-regulated expressions of VEGFA(0.45±0.01,0.35±0.01 and 0.31±0.02,all P<0.05),TNF(0.45±0.01,0.33±0.01 and 0.27±0.01,all P<0.01)and IL-6(0.44±0.01,0.36±0.01 and 0.30±0.01,all P<0.01)in a dose-dependent manner. Conclusion:LZT produces therapeutic effect on BPH by negatively regulating the VEGFA/TNF/IL-6 signaling pathway, reducing the expression levels of VEGFA,TNF and IL-6 pro-teins,and regulating cell proliferation, apoptosis and inflammatory response.

Objective:To analyze the factors for low libido in male patients with sexual dysfunction and provide some evidence for the clinical diagnosis and treatment of the condition. Methods:We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data on 111 cases of sex-ual dysfunction(including disorders in erection, ejaculation or libido)treated in the Zhengzhou University First Hospital from June to September 2023.According to the patients'complaints of low libido or accompanied symptoms,we divided them into a normal libido group(n=68)and a low libido(n=43),obtained their scores on IIEF-5,Premature Ejaculation Diagnostic Tool(PEDT),13-1-tem Self-Rating Libido Scale for Males(SRLS-M),Patients'Health Questionnaire-9(PHQ-9)and General Anxiety Disorder-7(GAD-7),examined the levels of the sexual hormones FSH,LH,PRL,T,free testosterone(fT),E2,?insulin-like growth factor 1(IGF-1)and growth hormone(GH),compared the basic parameters between the two groups, and analyzed their correlation with the libido values. Results:The IIEF-5,PEDT and libido scores and IGF-1 level were significantly higher and the GAD-7 score remark-ably lower in the normal than in the low libido group(P<0.05),but no statistically significant differences were observed between the two groups in the PHQ-9 score and the levels FSH,LH,PRL,T,fT,E2,T/E2 and GH(P>0.05).The libido value was correla-ted positively with the I1EF-5(r=0.28,P<0.01)and PEDT scores(r=0.29,P<0.01)and IGF-1 level(r=0.23,P<0.05),but negatively with the GAD-7 score(r=-0.21,P<0.05).Conclusion:Low libido results from multiple factors, which cannot be fully explained by sexual hormone levels but is closely related to the decreased level of IGF-1 and severity of ED and anxiety.
