To investigate the prevalence and associated factors of fall risk among Chinese older adults, and to examine the roles of urban-rural differences, regional disparities, physical health status, and psychosocial factors in falls among this population, thereby providing evidence for tailored fall prevention strategies.

Based on the data from the 5^th National Physical Fitness Surveillance in China, this study aimed to explore the relationship between abnormal body weight and physical fitness levels in older adults.

Objective:To investigate the effect of type 2 taste receptor(T2R)38 activation on ferroptosis of human airway epithelium NuLi-1 cells induced by cigarette smoke exposure,and to clarify its possible mechanism.Methods:The human airway epithelial NuLi-1 cells were divided into control group(without any treatment),cigarette smoke extract(CSE)group(treated with 5％CSE for 24 h)and CSE+T2R38 specific agonist phenylthiocarbamide(PTC)group(CSE+PTC group)(treated with 5％CSE and 1 mmol·L-1 PTC for 24 h).The expression levels of T2R38 mRNA and protein in NuLi-1 cells in various groups were determined by real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR(RT-qPCR)and Western blotting methods.The cell viabilities in various groups were determined by cell counting kit-8(CCK-8)assay.The activities of inducible nitric oxide synthase(iNOS),endothelial nitric oxide synthase(eNOS),and superoxide dismutase(SOD)in the cells in various groups were measured by kits.DAX-J2 red fluorescence probe was used to determine the levels of nitric oxide(NO)in the cells in various groups.The reactive oxygen species(ROS)levels in the cells in various groups were detected by fluorescent probe kit.The levels of malondialdehyde(MDA),Fe2+,and reduced glutathione(GSH)in the cells in various groups were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)method.Western blotting method was used to determine the expression levels of nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2(Nrf2)and glutathione peroxidases 4(GPx4)proteins in the cells in various groups.Results:Compared with control group,the expression levels of T2R38 mRNA and protein in NuLi-1 cells in CSE group were increased(P＜0.05).Compared with control group,the viability of NuLi-1 cells in CSE group was decreased(P＜0.05),the activities of iNOS and SOD in cells in CSE group were increased(P＜0.05),the levels of NO and ROS were increased(P＜0.05),the levels of MDA and Fe2+were increased(P＜0.05),and the GSH level and the expression levels of Nrf2 and GPx4 proteins were decreased.Compared with CSE group,the viability of NuLi-1 cells in CSE+PTC group was increased(P＜0.05),the activity of SOD and the GSH level in the cells were increased(P＜0.05),the activity of iNOS in cells was decreased(P＜0.05),the levels of NO and ROS in cells were decreased(P＜0.05),the levels of MDA and Fe2+were decreased(P＜0.05),and the expression levels of Nrf2 and GPx4 proteins were increased(P＜0.05).There was no significant difference in eNOS activity among control group,CSE group,and CSE+PTC group(P＞0.05).Conclusion:Activation of bitter taste receptor T2R38 can inhibit ferroptosis in human airway epithelium NuLi-1 cells induced by cigarette smoke exposure,and its mechanism may be related to the reduction of iNOS activity in the cells.

Objective:To explore the developmental characteristics of event-related potential(ERP) in cognitive function of recognition memory in children aged 6-12.Methods:A total of 130 normal children were divided into seven age groups (6 ( n=20), 7 ( n=17), 8 ( n=23), 9 ( n=24), 10 ( n=19), 11 ( n=15), and 12 years old ( n=12)) to perform a picture study-recognition task and record the reaction time, accuracy, and ERP components of all participants. SPSS 22.0 software was used for data analysis. Single factor analysis of variance and trend of variance were used to compare the response time and accuracy of 7 groups of children during the recognition stage. Pearson correlation analysis was used to study the correlation between the amplitude of the central midline N2 component and age. Paired t-test was used to examine the old/new effects of the amplitude of midfrontal N2 and midparietal P3 waves. Results:(1) The differences of recognition ability ( F(6, 123)=2.476, P<0.05), old picture reaction time ( F(6, 123)=6.461, P<0.001), and new picture reaction time ( F(6, 123)=4.163, P<0.001) among 7 age groups of children were statistically significant. Recognition ability of children aged 6 (0.61±0.24) was lower than those of 8-12 years old children((0.76±0.27), (0.76±0.10), (0.73±0.11), (0.75±0.10), (0.70±0.17) respectively)(all P<0.05). The reaction time of the old picture showed no difference among the children aged 6-9 (all P>0.05), and the reaction time of old picture of children aged 12 was shorter than those of 6-10 years old children (all P<0.01). There was no significant difference in the reaction time of new pictures among the children aged 6-10 (all P>0.05), and which in children aged 12 was shorter than those in 6-10 years old children(all P<0.01). (2) Age was positively correlated with the amplitude of the N2 component in the central region under the new ( r=0.488, P<0.001) and old picture( r=0.452, P<0.001) conditions. (3)At 6 years old, children showed old/new effects on the mid-frontal electrodes. At 7 years old, there were no old/new effects in either the mid-frontal or mid-parietal regions. From 8 to 9 years old, old/new effects appeared in the mid-parietal lobe. At 10 years old, old/new effects were present in both the mid-frontal and mid-parietal regions. At 11 years old, the mid-parietal lobe showed old/new effects. Finally, at 12 years old, negative old/new effects could be observed in both the mid-frontal and mid-parietal regions. Conclusion:There are three periods of changes in the behavior of picture recognition memory in school-age children. At ages 6-7, the accuracy rate is relatively low; at ages 8-9, it improves; and between ages 10-12, the accuracy rate stabilizes while also enabling faster judgments.Children's recognition memory retrieval process is more complex than their behavioral performance. Children have different tendencies toward strategies, but strategic transitions in recognition processing are not always beneficial for performance.

Background::Findings on the association of genetic factors and colorectal cancer (CRC) survival are limited and inconsistent, and revealing the mechanism underlying their prognostic roles is of great importance. This study aimed to explore the relationship between functional genetic variations and the prognosis of CRC and further reveal the possible mechanism.Methods::We first systematically performed expression quantitative trait locus (eQTL) analysis using The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) dataset. Then, the Kaplan-Meier analysis was used to filter out the survival-related eQTL target genes of CRC patients in two public datasets (TCGA and GSE39582 dataset from the Gene Expression Omnibus database). The seven most potentially functional eQTL single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) associated with six survival-related eQTL target genes were genotyped in 907 Chinese CRC patients with clinical prognosis data. The regulatory mechanism of the survival-related SNP was further confirmed by functional experiments.Results::The rs71630754 regulating the expression of endoplasmic reticulum aminopeptidase 1 ( ERAP1) was significantly associated with the prognosis of CRC (additive model, hazard ratio [HR]: 1.43, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.08-1.88, P = 0.012). The results of dual-luciferase reporter assay and electrophoretic mobility shift assay showed that the A allele of the rs71630754 could increase the binding of transcription factor 3 (TCF3) and subsequently reduce the expression of ERAP1. The results of bioinformatic analysis showed that lower expression of ERAP1 could affect the tumor immune microenvironment and was significantly associated with severe survival outcomes. Conclusion::The rs71630754 could influence the prognosis of CRC patients by regulating the expression of the immune-related gene ERAP1. Ulcerative colitis （UC） is a common chronic digestive system disease in clinic. The disease is repeated and difficult to treat， and the pathogenesis is complex， which is related to oxidative stress response. Nuclear factor E₂-related factor 2 （Nrf2） is an important factor in antioxidant reaction， which regulates the expression of downstream heme oxygen-1 （HO-1）， and plays a role in maintaining redox homeostasis. In the course of UC， the biological activity and content of Nrf2 and HO-1 are decreased， the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory abilities of tissues are weakened， the intestinal epithelial cells are damaged， and the intestinal mucosal barrier is destroyed. At present， western medicine mainly focuses on controlling inflammation and alleviating symptoms in clinical treatment. Although it has a certain effect， there are many problems such as easy recurrence after drug withdrawal and long-term side effects. Studies have shown that Chinese medicine has rich and flexible therapeutic methods and has broad application prospects in the prevention and treatment of UC. In recent years， with Nrf2/HO-1 pathway as the entry point， a large number of basic and clinical experiments on this signal in UC have been carried out in the field of Chinese medicine， and the results show that the intervention of Nrf2/HO-1 pathway is an important potential target for the treatment of UC by Chinese medicines. Based on the etiology and pathogenesis of deficiency-excess in complexity， Chinese medicine regulates Nrf2/HO-1 pathway by clearing heat and detoxifying dampness， activating blood circulation to remove stasis and relieve pain， invigorating Qi， tonifying middle， and warming interior， and treating both symptoms and root causes， to improve the tissue's ability to resist oxidative stress， maintain the balance between pro-inflammatory factors and anti-inflammatory factors， relieve inflammatory response， and play a therapeutic role in UC. This paper summarized and analyzed the effect of Chinese medicine targeting the Nrf2/HO-1 signaling pathway on interfering with UC and its mechanism. The purpose of this study is to provide references for researchers to have a more comprehensive understanding of the mechanism of Chinese medicines in the Nrf2/HO-1 signaling pathway in UC and promote the rational application of Chinese medicines in the prevention and treatment of UC in the future.

Objective:To translate the Pediatric Respiratory Assessment Measure into Chinese, and to test its reliability and validity.Methods:According to the Brislin translation model, the English version of Pediatric Respiratory Assessment Measure was translated into Chinese, and then was back-translated and modified for cultural adaptation. From June 2019 to December 2020, convenience sampling method was used to evaluate the severity of 50 children with acute attack of bronchial asthma aged 2-14 years in the Affiliated Huaian No.1 People′s Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, in order to evaluate its reliability and validity.Results:The Cronbach α of the Chinese version of Pediatric Respiratory Assessment Measure was 0.838, the inter-rater reliability was 0.984; the average scale-content validity index was 0.97. One common factor was extracted, the cumulative variance contribution rate of superior sternal fossa depression was 61.83%. The criterion related validity between the evaluation results of doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists and the grading standard of bronchial asthma severity in the " Guidelines for the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of bronchial asthma in children ( 2016 edition)" were 0.903, 0.884 and 0.889, the ROC curve of the scale was 0.867 (95% CI 0.754-0.980). Conclusions:The Chinese version of Pediatric Respiratory Assessment Measure has good reliability and validity, which can be used to evaluate the severity of acute attack of bronchial asthma in children aged 2-14 in China, and provide a basis for further diagnosis and treatment.

Objective:To investigate the distribution and antimicrobial resistance profile of clinical bacteria isolated from blood culture in China.Methods:The clinical bacterial strains isolated from blood culture from member hospitals of Blood Bacterial Resistant Investigation Collaborative System (BRICS) were collected during January 2018 to December 2019. Antibiotic susceptibility tests were conducted with agar dilution or broth dilution methods recommended by US Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI). WHONET 5.6 was used to analyze data.Results:During the study period, 14 778 bacterial strains were collected from 50 hospitals, of which 4 117 (27.9%) were Gram-positive bacteria and 10 661(72.1%) were Gram-negative bacteria. The top 10 bacterial species were Escherichia coli (37.2%), Klebsiella pneumoniae (17.0%), Staphylococcus aureus (9.7%), coagulase-negative Staphylococci (8.7%), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (3.7%), Enterococcus faecium (3.4%), Acinetobacter baumannii(3.4%), Enterobacter cloacae (2.9%), Streptococci(2.8%) and Enterococcus faecalis (2.3%). The the prevalence of methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) and methicillin-resistant coagulase-negative Staphylococcus were 27.4% (394/1 438) and 70.4% (905/1 285), respectively. No glycopeptide-resistant Staphylococcus was detected. More than 95% of S. aureus were sensitive to amikacin, rifampicin and SMZco. The resistance rate of E. faecium to vancomycin was 0.4% (2/504), and no vancomycin-resistant E. faecalis was detected. The ESBLs-producing rates in no carbapenem-resistance E. coli, carbapenem sensitive K. pneumoniae and Proteus were 50.4% (2 731/5 415), 24.6% (493/2001) and 35.2% (31/88), respectively. The prevalence of carbapenem-resistance in E. coli and K. pneumoniae were 1.5% (85/5 500), 20.6% (518/2 519), respectively. 8.3% (27/325) of carbapenem-resistance K. pneumoniae was resistant to ceftazidime/avibactam combination. The resistance rates of A. baumannii to polymyxin and tigecycline were 2.8% (14/501) and 3.4% (17/501) respectively, and that of P. aeruginosa to carbapenem were 18.9% (103/546). Conclusions:The surveillance results from 2018 to 2019 showed that the main pathogens of bloodstream infection in China were gram-negative bacteria, while E. coli was the most common pathogen, and ESBLs-producing strains were in majority; the MRSA incidence is getting lower in China; carbapenem-resistant E. coli keeps at a low level, while carbapenem-resistant K. pneumoniae is on the rise obviously.

Objective:To analyze the correlation between simple thyroid nodule and blood lipid and glucose metabolism and iodine nutrition level.Methods:A cross-sectional study was conducted by collecting data of the population undergoing epidemiological investigation in Jinshan District, Shanghai from July to December 2015, to calculate the prevalence of thyroid nodules and analyze relevant functional indicators.Results:Simple thyroid nodules were detected in 603 subjects, with a prevalence of 22.6% (603/2 669). There were 358 female patients with simple thyroid nodules, with a prevalence rate of 26.9%, and 245 male patients with simple thyroid nodules, with a prevalence rate of 18.3%. The prevalence of simple thyroid nodule in female was higher than that in male, and the difference was statistically significant (χ 2=27.686, P<0.001). In addition, the prevalence of simple thyroid nodules increased with age (13.1% (92/704) and 20.2% (104/514) and 25.1% (145/578) and 24.4% (107/439) and 36.3% (98/270) and 34.8% (57/164), χ 2=83.872,P<0.001). In the ≤30 years group (8.0% (30/704) vs. 18.8% (62/331), χ 2=35.716, P<0.001), >30 to ≤40 years old group (14.1% (37/263) vs. 26.7% (67/251), χ 2=12.683, P<0.001), >60 to ≤70 years old group (26.2% (33/126) vs. 45.1% (65/144), χ 2=10.435, P<0.001), and the 70-year-old group (24.4% (21/86) vs. 46.2% (36/78), χ 2=8.521, P<0.001). The prevalence of simple thyroid nodules in males was lower than that in females. In the simple positive thyroid nodule group, Fasting blood glucose (5.12 (4.80, 5.69) and 5.02 (4.72, 5.48)), total cholesterol (1.24 (0.85, 1.86) and 1.13 (0.77, 1.76)), triglyceride (4.77 (4.09, 5.48) and 4.49 (3.92, 5.16)), low density lipoprotein((2.79 (2.26, 3.36) and 2.63 (2.19, 3.16)), and high density lipoprotein cholesterol (1.41 (1.18, 1.66) and 1.35 (1.13, 1.61)) were higher than those in the negative group ( U values were 554 818, 578 468, 535 622, 556 067 and 567 960, respectively, all P<0.01). The BMI index grade distribution of thyroid nodule positive group was higher than that of negative group, and the difference was statistically significant (3.7% (77/2 066), 50.1% (1 034/2 066), 32.4% (669/2 066), 13.8% (286/2 066), 3.2% (19/603), 43.6% (263/603), 38.1% (230/603), 15.1% (91/603), χ2=9.5201, P=0.023). The prevalence of simple thyroid nodules was significantly lower in the iodized salt group than in the non-iodized salt group (20.7% (436/2 102) vs. 29.5% (167/567), χ 2=19.376, P<0.001). The urinary iodine level in the positive thyroid nodule group was significantly lower than that in the negative group (148.4(100.2, 213.7) vs. 169.5(115.4, 241.75), U=545 129.5, P<0.001). After Logistic regression screening, age ( OR=1.57, 95% CI: 1.292-1.908, P<0.001), gender ( OR=1.278, 95% CI: 1.193-1.368, P<0.001), BMI grade ( OR=1.166, 95% CI: 1.022-1.330, P=0.022), total cholesterol ( OR=1.105, 95% CI: 1.005-1.214, P=0.040), iodized salt ( OR=0.689, 95% CI: 0.556-0.854, P=0.001) were independent influencing factors of thyroid nodule. Conclusion:The prevalence of simple thyroid nodules in Shanghai is relatively low. Age, sex, BMI level, total cholesterol and iodized salt are independent factors causing thyroid nodules. In addition, blood glucose level may also be related to the prevalence of thyroid nodules.

Objective:To explore the relationship between blocking antibody and lymphocyte subsets in elderly patients (age≥35 years old) with recurrent spontaneous abortion(RSA).Methods:A retrospective case-control study was conducted on the patients with recurrent spontaneous abortion who met the inclusion criteria from October 2014 to September 2019 in the Reproductive Center of Women Health Center of Shanxi.They were divided into two groups according to their ages: 66 cases in RSA group and 334 cases in normal pregnant age group.The blocking antibody and lymphocyte subsets were detected by flow cytometry.Results:The negative rate of blocking antibody in elderly recurrent spontaneous abortion patients was 77.27% (51/66), which was not significantly different from that in normal gestational recurrent spontaneous abortion patients (83.53%(279/334)) ( P=0.221), but significantly higher than that in normal women (23.46%(42/179)) ( P=0.001). The blocking antibody′s blocking efficiency results showed that the CD3′s blocking efficiency of elderly recurrent spontaneous abortion patients (0.10 (-0.50, 0.60)) was significantly lower than that of normal women (0.60 (0.00, 1.30)), the difference was statistically( P=0.001). The CD8 blocking efficiency of elderly recurrent spontaneous abortion patients (0.00 (-0.60, 0.63)) was significantly lower than that of normal women (0.30 (0.00, 0.70)), the difference was statistically( P=0.016). Lymphocyte subsets showed that the CD8 + T cell ratio in elderly recurrent spontaneous abortion patients (26.93±7.25) was significantly lower than that in normal gestational recurrent spontaneous abortion patients (29.22±7.29), the difference was statistically significant ( P=0.020). The CD4 + /CD8 + ratio in elderly recurrent spontaneous abortion patients (1.64±0.99) was significantly higher than that in normal gestational age recurrent spontaneous abortion patients (1.37±0.50), the difference was statistically significant ( P=0.030). The ratio of natural killer cells in elderly recurrent spontaneous abortion patients (16.13±7.10) was significantly higher than that in normal women (14.04±2.35), the difference was statistically significant ( P=0.022), and higher than that in normal gestational age recurrent spontaneous abortion women (15.57±7.02). Conclusion:There were differences in lymphocyte subsets between elderly RSA patients and normal pregnant women, and the increase of natural killer cell ratio may be an important factor in the occurrence of RSA, especially in elderly RSA patients.
