Motor timing is an important part of sensorimotor control. Previous studies have shown that beta oscillations embody the process of temporal perception in explicit timing tasks. In contrast, studies focusing on beta oscillations in implicit timing tasks are lacking. In this study, we set up an implicit motor timing task and found a modulation pattern of beta oscillations with temporal perception during movement preparation. We trained two macaques in a repetitive visually-guided reach-to-grasp task with different holding intervals. Spikes and local field potentials were recorded from microelectrode arrays in the primary motor cortex, primary somatosensory cortex, and posterior parietal cortex. We analyzed the association between beta oscillations and temporal interval in fixed-duration experiments (500 ms as the Short Group and 1500 ms as the Long Group) and random-duration experiments (500 ms to 1500 ms). The results showed that the peak beta frequencies in both experiments ranged from 15 Hz to 25 Hz. The beta power was higher during the hold period than the movement (reach and grasp) period. Further, in the fixed-duration experiments, the mean power as well as the maximum rate of change of beta power in the first 300 ms were higher in the Short Group than in the Long Group when aligned with the Center Hit event. In contrast, in the random-duration experiments, the corresponding values showed no statistical differences among groups. The peak latency of beta power was shorter in the Short Group than in the Long Group in the fixed-duration experiments, while no consistent modulation pattern was found in the random-duration experiments. These results indicate that beta oscillations can modulate with temporal interval in their power mode. The synchronization period of beta power could reflect the cognitive set maintaining working memory of the temporal structure and attention.

We aimed to obtain the recombinant aminopeptidase encoded by Listeria monocytogenes (L. monocytogenes) gene lmo1711, and characterized the enzyme. First, the amino acid sequences of Lmo1711 from L. monocytogenes EGD-e and its homologues in other microbial species were aligned and the putative active sites were analyzed. The putative model of Lmo1711 was constructed through the SWISS-MODEL Workspace. Then, the plasmid pET30a-Lmo1711 was constructed and transformed into E. coli for expression of the recombinant Lmo1711. The his-tagged soluble protein was purified using the nickel-chelated affinity column chromatography. With the amino acid-p-nitroaniline as the substrate, Lmo1711 hydrolyzed the substrate to free p-nitroaniline monomers, whose absorbance measured at 405 nm reflected the aminopeptidase activity. The specificity of Lmo1711 to substrates was then examined by changing various substrates, and the effect of metal ions on the catalytic efficiency of this enzyme was further determined. Based on the bioinformatics data, Lmo1711 is a member of the M29 family aminopeptidases, containing a highly conserved catalytic motif (Glu-Glu-His-Tyr-His-Asp) with typical structure arrangements of the peptidase family. The recombinant Lmo1711 with a size of about 49.3 kDa exhibited aminopeptidase activity and had a selectivity to the substrates, with the highest degree of affinity for leucine-p-nitroaniline. Interestingly, the enzymatic activity of Lmo1711 can be activated by Cd²⁺, Zn²⁺, and is strongly stimulated by Co²⁺. We here, for the first time demonstrate that L. monocytogenes lmo1711 encodes a cobalt-activated aminopeptidase of M29 family.

Objective:
To investigate the feasibility and therapeutic effect of frontal and scalp expanded skin flap combined with laser hair removal for children congenital facial giant nevi.
Methods:
From January 2013 to December 2015, 6 cases with congenital facial giant nevi were treated with expanded frontal and scalp skin flap combined with laser hair removal in the department of plastic surgery, An Zhen Hospital, Capital Medical University. The process of treatment could be divided into three stages. Stage 1: The expander capacity was determined according to the size of lesion. Expander was implanted under the galea aponeurotica in front and scalp, and expanded regularly postoperatively. Stage 2: The expander was removed and facial giant nevi was excised. The expanded skin flap was designed according to the shape and size of nevi. Stage 3: After the expanded skin flap healed completely, laser hair removal was performed for 4-6 times with 6 weeks of interval time.
Results:
300 ml to 350 ml expanders were selected with expanding frequency of 2 times a week. The expansion time lasted for 16 to 20 weeks(average, 18.7 weeks). The complications such as leakage, angle and skin flap blood supply obstacle didn't occurr in the process of expansion. The size of frontal and scalp skin flap ranged from 12 cm×11 cm to 20 cm×17 cm. Venous drainage disorder happened in one flap and was treated by partial suture removal and acupuncture bleeding treatment. Skin flap necrosis didn't occurred. The defects at donor sites were sutured directly with inconspicious scar. The effect of semiconductor laser hair removal was good without recurrence during one-year follow-up period. All expanded skin flaps had no obvious contraction with good match of color and texture.
Conclusions
This method provides a new selection of donor site for larger facial defect with reliable effet. The facial giant nevi could be excised completely and repaired in one operation with short operation time. The scar in middle face and secondary deformities can be avoided.

Objective To evaluate the clinical results of arthroscopic repair of combined Bankart and superior labrum anterior to posterior (SLAP)lesions in patients with recurrent shoulder dislocations. Methods Between May 2011 and January 2015,we reviewed 15 cases with combined Bankart and SLAP lesions with recurrent shoulder dislocations who underwent arthroscopic repair.Their average age during surgery was 24.2 years (ranging from 16 to 38 years).During the operation,we began by repairing the unstable SLAP lesion with absorbable suture anchors before we repaired Bankart lesion from the inferior to superior.Fifteen patients in the control group had isolated Bankart lesions without SLAP lesions and underwent arthroscopic repair.Their mean age was 24.6 years (ranging from 18 to 35 years). The preoperative and postoperative results were analyzed by Visual Analogue Scale (VAS)for pain, the range of motion,American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeon (ASES)and Rowe Shoulder Scores Systems. We compared the results with the isolated Bankart lesion. Results For patients who underwent arthroscopic repair of combined Bankart and SLAP lesions, the mean postoperative follow-up period was 15 months (ranging from 13 to 28 months),vs 22 months (ranging from 21 to 34 months)in the control group.VAS for pain was decreased from preoperative 4.9 to postoperative 1.9 (P <0.05).Mean ASES and Rowe Shoulder Scores were improved from preoperative 56.4 and 33.7 to postoperative 91.8 and 94.1,respectively (P <0.05). Recurrent dislocation was not observed until the last follow-up and anterior instability in two groups was not noted during the physical examination.Compared with the isolated Bankart lesion group,no statistical significance was found in the ASES score,Rowe Shoulder Score,or VAS for pain (P >0.05 ).Anterior flexion, abduction, and internal rotation of the affected shoulder during the last follow-up were normal after surgery. Conclusion For recurrent dislocation of the shoulder with combined Bankart and SLAP lesion, arthroscopic repair using absorbable suture anchors can achieve favorable clinical results. It can effectively restore shoulder function.

Calf losses have an economic impact on larger Korean native cattle (KNC) breeding farms due to replacement, productivity, and marketing. However, little research on KNC calf mortality or causes of calf death on large-scale breeding farms has been conducted. Based on medical records and autopsy findings from the Hanwoo experimental station of the National Institute of Animal Science, calf death records from 2002 to 2011 were used to identify the causes of mortality. Mortality rate of KNC calves was 5.7%. Large differences (1.8~12.6%) in year-specific mortalities were observed. Calf deaths were due to digestive diseases (68.7%), respiratory diseases (20.9%), accidents (6.0%), and other known diseases (2.2%). The main cause of calf death was enteritis followed by pneumonia, rumen indigestion, and intestinal obstruction. The greatest number of calf deaths occurred during the fall followed by summer. These results indicated that enteritis and pneumonia were the main reasons for calf death. However, autopsy findings demonstrated that other factors also caused calf death. This study suggested that seasonal breeding and routine vaccinations are the most important factors for preventing calf death, and improving calf health in high land areas with low temperature.
