OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of zedoarondiol on neovascularization of atherosclerotic (AS) plaque by exosomes experiment. METHODS: ApoE^-/- mice were fed with high-fat diet to establish AS model and treated with high- and low-dose (10, 5 mg/kg daily) of zedoarondiol, respectively. After 14 weeks, the expressions of anti-angiogenic protein thrombospondin 1 (THBS-1) and its receptor CD36 in plaques, as well as platelet activation rate and exosome-derived miR-let-7a were detected. Then, zedoarondiol was used to intervene in platelets in vitro, and miR-let-7a was detected in platelet-derived exosomes (Pexo). Finally, human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) were transfected with miR-let-7a mimics and treated with Pexo to observe the effect of miR-let-7a in Pexo on tube formation. RESULTS: Animal experiments showed that after treating with zedoarondiol, the neovascularization density in plaques of AS mice was significantly reduced, THBS-1 and CD36 increased, the platelet activation rate was markedly reduced, and the miR-let-7a level in Pexo was reduced (P<0.01). In vitro experiments, the platelet activation rate and miR-let-7a levels in Pexo were significantly reduced after zedoarondiol's intervention. Cell experiments showed that after Pexo's intervention, the tube length increased, and the transfection of miR-let-7a minics further increased the tube length of cells, while reducing the expressions of THBS-1 and CD36. CONCLUSION Zedoarondiol has the effect of inhibiting neovascularization within plaque in AS mice, and its mechanism may be potentially related to inhibiting platelet activation and reducing the Pexo-derived miRNA-let-7a level.

Colon capsule endoscopy( CCE)is a new technique for the diagnosis of colonic lesions,it has many advantages such as high safety,good tolerance,etc. . Bowel preparation is an important procedure in CCE. The quality of bowel preparation is closely related with the accuracy of CCE. This article reviewed the progress in research on bowel preparation for CCE.

Objective To study predicting results of the back propagation (BP)neural network model for hematoma enlargement (HE)in patients with intracerebral hemorrhage. Methods The clinical data of 128 patients with cerebral hemorrhage admitted to the 309th hospital of People′s Liberation Army from January 2011 to December 2014 were analyzed retrospectively. The Matlab 7. 14 software was used to achieve BP neural network model for predicting hematoma enlargement within 24 hours in patients with intracerebral hemorrhage (HE ≥6. 0 ml and HE ≥12. 5 ml). The mean square error (MSE)of the model and the accuracy of the overall prediction were calculated. The receiver operation characteristic (ROC) curve was drawn for predicting HE. Results When the BP neural network predicted HE ≥6. 0 ml and HE ≥12. 5 ml,the mean square deviations of the training set,validation set,and test set were 0. 061, 0. 143,0. 052 and 0. 023,0. 057,and 0. 065,respectively. The best fitting performance verification of hematoma enlargement was as follows:≥ 6. 0 ml for network training 11 times and the error value 0. 224;≥12. 5 ml for network training 20 times,and the error value 0. 057. The overall accuracies of predicting HE ≥6. 0 ml and HE ≥12. 5 ml were 92. 2% (118/ 128)and 96. 9% (124/ 128)respectively. Conclusion The BP neural network model have no special limitation for data. It can accurately fit the hematoma expansion model of cerebral hemorrhage.

Objective To analyze the imaging and pathological characteristics, as well as treatment strategies of intracranial hemangioblastomas (HBs),and explore the advancement of diagnosis,etiopathogenisis and treatment of HBs. Methods Thirty-five patients with intracranial HBs,admitted to our hospital and performed tumor resection from January 2005 to January 2010,were chosen in our study; all patients were divided into type of big cystic HBs with a small mural nodule (n=19),type of small cystic HBs with a big nodule (n=9) and type of solid HBs (n=7) by imaging features.The clinical manifestations,imaging findings and surgical methods were retrospectively analyzed; the expressions of NSE and CD34 in these tumor samples were detected by HE staining and immunohistochemical staining.Results All patients were treated by surgery; total resection was achieved in 34 and subtotal resection in 1; no death occurred after the surgery.Twenty-eight patients were followed up for 3 months to 3 years after discharge; recurrence appeared in 1 patient with big cystic HBs with a small mural nodule and Gamma knife treatment was performed.No significant difference was observed in the numbers ofCD34+cells between each 2 types of patients (P＞0.05).The numbers of NSE positive cells between each 2 types were statistically significant (P＜0.05). Conclusion There were no specific clinical manifestations of HBs.Diagnosis was mainly according to imaging features.Treatment of HBs with total resection is just the first selection and the key to reduce palindromia; the formation of HBs cysts is closely related to tumor stromal cells.

Objective To investigate the effect ofurapidil in lowering the brain temperature in hot and humid environment. Methods Ninety soldiers stationed in Chinese Nansha Islands were divided into veteran group, untreated new recruit group and new recruit group with urapidil (tablet) treatment. All the soldiers were asked to complete a running exercise for 3000 m within 20 min in hot and humid environment, and their body temperature before and after the exercise was measured to evaluate the brain temperature changes. Results Before the running exercise, no significant differences was found in the body temperature among the 3 groups. The body temperature of the soldiers showed significant differences after the exercise, and the untreated new recruit had the most obvious elevation of the body temperature, whereas those with urapidil treatment showed the least elevation. Conclusion Veterans and new recruit show different tolerance and adaptability to hot and humid environment, and urapidil tablets can help reduce brain temperature increment induced by hot and humid environment.

Obiective To evaluate the clinical efficacy of microsurgical resection of third ventricle tumors involving the lateral ventricle through the transcallosal interfomiceai approach. Methods From October 2005 to April 2009, 12 patients with third ventricle tumors involving the lateral ventricle received microsurgical resection of the tumors through the transcollasal interfomiceal approach. Results The tumors were totally removed in 4 cases, subtotally in 3 cases and partially in 5 cases without any fatal consequences. Conclusion This approach is safe and effective for removing third ventricle tumors involving the lateral ventricle by accessing the tumor through the anatomical space in the brain, and allows clear exposure of the operative field and causes minimal invasiveness of the surrounding structure with reduced complications.

Objective To investigate the effect of several types of cervical braces used for external immobilization on craniovertebral junction malformation. Methods 48 patients with craniovertebral junction malformation applied several types of cervical braces, including Philadelphia collar, sterno-occipito-mandibular immobilizer (SOMI) and Halo-vest, for the surgical treatment were retrospectively analyzed. Results The primary applications of external cervical brace after posterior internal craniovertebral fixation in this series were 20 cases of Philadelphia collar, 16 cases of SOMI and 12 cases of Halo-vest, with excellent or good results in 80%, 87.5% and 91.7%. The applications of external brace for post-hospital recovery were 16 cases of collar, 15 cases of SOMI and 17 cases of Halo-vest. 35 (72.9%) patients were followed-up for at least 4 months, with satisfying immobilization and duration which fulfilled the requirements for post-operative recovery. Conclusion The applications of the all of 3 kinds of external brace, including collar, SOMI and Halo-vest, have their important clinical value for peri-operational and post-operational recovery in the treatment of patients with craniovertebral junction malformation. To have a reasonable choice of these brace in different patients, the characteristics of pathology as well as the surgical stages should be taken into account.
