Chinese Journal of School Health 2026;47(3):421-424
Objective:
To analyze the school tuberculosis (TB) outbreaks and preventive treatment in Hefei from 2022 to 2024, so as to provide reference for TB prevention and control in schools.
Methods:
Data were collected on all school based TB outbreaks occurring during 2022-2024 in Hefei, defined as ≥2 epidemiologically linked TB cases within the same school during a single semester. Statistical analyses were performed using the Chi square test.
Results:
Close contacts exhibited significantly higher TB incidence (2.88%) and latent mycobacterium tuberculosis infection (LTBI) rates (13.80%) in the school TB outbreaks, compared to non close contacts (0.12% and 2.63%, respectively). Among close contacts, secondary school students showed lower TB incidence (0.48%) and LTBI prevalence (3.42%) than both primary school or younger children (0.68%, 6.95%) and college students ( 0.78% , 6.50%), with statistically significant differences ( χ 2=360.91, 6.37; 791.71, 102.03, all P <0.05). The proportion of LTBI individuals recommended for preventive therapy was higher in primary school or younger groups (98.59%) than in secondary (95.25%) or college students (86.34%) ( χ 2=25.86, P <0.01). However, among those recommended, close contacts had higher uptake (85.82%) and completion rates (87.25%) of preventive therapy than non close contacts (69.63% and 70.57%); similarly, secondary school students demonstrated higher uptake (91.21%) and completion rates (86.45%) compared to primary school or younger (88.57%, 83.87%) and college students (57.28%, 64.08%) ( χ 2=30.52, 26.72; 125.17, 38.84, all P <0.01). Subsequent TB incidence among LTBI close contacts (13.30%) and among those who did not complete preventive therapy (22.73%) were significantly higher than among non close contacts (2.80%, 2.41%), respectively ( χ 2=32.19, 13.87, both P <0.05).
Conclusions
In school TB outbreaks, close contacts face higher LTBI prevalence and subsequent TB risk than non close contacts. College students show notably low adherence to preventive therapy. It is necessary to take targeted measures to improve the compliance of preventive measures among students.

Journal of Prevention and Treatment for Stomatological Diseases 2026;34(6):606-619
This paper systematically elaborates on the key points of diagnosis and differential diagnosis of salivary gland tumors characterized by a substantial amount of extracellular mucus as a main or prominent feature, and clarifies the core differential features. The term "mucus-rich" specifically denotes that mucus is a major component of the tumor, rather than a focal or minor one. This phenomenon is associated with distinct histogenetic mechanisms: it may result from specific genetic mutations (e.g., AKT1 E17K in mucinous adenocarcinoma) that drive ductal epithelial differentiation into mucus-secreting cells, or from myoepithelial cells secreting glycosaminoglycans that form a myxoid stroma. Salivary gland tumors with abundant extracellular mucus include mucinous cystadenoma, sialadenoma papilliferum-like intraductal papillary tumors, mucinous myoepithelioma, pleomorphic adenoma with mucin-rich stroma, mucinous adenocarcinoma, low-grade mucoepidermoid carcinoma, mucin-rich salivary duct carcinoma and intestinal-type adenocarcinoma. The diagnosis of these tumors is complicated by the dual nature of extracellular mucus: while it is a defining feature of some entities, it can also obscure key diagnostic architectural features in others, leading to histological overlap and inconspicuous diagnostic areas. Given the frequent histological morphological overlap among these tumors, immunohistochemical findings and molecular characteristics have emerged as crucial differential diagnostic criteria. Core differential diagnostic points include the following: histologically, there must be meticulous identification of typical structures obscured by mucin (such as squamoid cells in mucoepidermoid carcinoma and apocrine features in salivary duct carcinoma); in immunohistochemical staining, CK20 is useful for distinguishing intestinal-type adenocarcinoma (positive) from mucinous adenocarcinoma (negative), while androgen receptor aids in differentiating salivary duct carcinoma (positive) from mucoepidermoid carcinoma (negative); and molecular testing plays a critical role in definitive diagnosis (e.g., the AKT1 E17K mutation for mucinous adenocarcinoma, MAML2 rearrangement for mucoepidermoid carcinoma, and MEF2C::SS18 fusion for microsecretory adenocarcinoma). This paper systematically summarizes the core pathological features and differential diagnostic points of mucin-rich salivary gland tumors, aiming to provide a practical reference for clinical pathological diagnosis.

Aim To observe the mechanism of salvian-olic acid B(SalB)against oxygen glucose deprivation/re-oxygenation(OGD/R)injury in H9c2 cardiomyo-cytes.Methods The protective concentration of SalB against OGD/R-injured H9c2 cardiomyocytes was screened by CCK-8 assay. The levels of lactate dehy-drogenase(LDH),aspartate transaminase(AST)and creatine kinase(CK)were detected by ELISA kit.The mechanism of action of SalB on OGD/R-injured H9c2 cardiomyocytes was explored using high-through-put sequencing of the transcriptome. The binding of SalB to differential proteins was assessed using molecu-lar docking assays.Fatty acid content was determined using free fatty acid kits. The relative expressions of mRNA and protein of differential genes were verified by RT-qPCR and Western blot. The causal relationship between the target of action of SalB and heart failure was examined by Mendelian randomization experiment. Results SalB protected OGD/R-injured H9c2 cardio-myocytes and significantly reduced the levels of CK,LDH and AST compared with the blank control group. One hundred differential genes were screened by tran-scriptome sequencing, which were mainly involved in fatty acid elongation, central carbon metabolism of cancer, tryptophan metabolism pathways.Molecular docking showed that SalB had good binding energy to differential proteins. The mRNA and protein expression of core differential genes Elovl6,Echs1 and Acot1 were consistent with the transcriptome sequencing results.SalB reduced fatty acidsafter OGD/R injury.Mende-lian randomization experiments suggested that SalB might reduce the risk of heart failure through fatty acid metabolism, thereby reducing the risk of heart failure. Conclusion SalB can protect H9c2 cardiomyocytes after OGD/R injury by down-regulating Elovl6,Echs1 and Acot1 expression through the fatty acid metabolism pathway.

BACKGROUND:Deferoxamine exhibits multiple functions such as stem cell modulation, immune regulation, and promotion of angiogenesis and osteogenesis, but its role in the osteoinhibition induced by dexamethasone in osteoblasts remains unclear.OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effects of deferoxamine on osteoblasts treated with dexamethasone through the hypoxia-inducible factor 1α/vascular endothelial growth factor signaling pathway and to explore its potential mechanisms of action.METHODS:The proliferation of MC3T3-E1 cells treated with various concentrations of deferoxamine for 24,48,and 72 hours was assessed using the cell counting kit-8 assay to determine the optimal intervention concentration. There were control, dexamethasone, dexamethasone plus deferoxamine 10 μmol/L,and dexamethasone plus deferoxamine 20 μmol/L groups in the experiment.Cell counting kit-8 assay and flow cytometry were employed to evaluate the effect of deferoxamine on dexamethasone-induced cell proliferation and apoptosis.Alkaline phosphatase staining and activity assays were conducted to assess alkaline phosphatase levels in MC3T3-E1 cells.Alizarin red staining was used to observe the formation of mineralized nodules.Western blot was employed to detect the expression of osteogenic and signaling proteins.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:(1)Deferoxamine showed no significant cytotoxicity to MC3T3-E1 cells within the range of 5-20 μmol/L and could ameliorate the inhibitory effects of dexamethasone on MC3T3-E1 cell proliferation and apoptosis.(2)Compared with the dexamethasone group, deferoxamine groups increased alkaline phosphatase activity and cell mineralization, and also significantly increased the protein expression of osteopontin,runt-related transcription factor 2,and alkaline phosphatase in MC3T3-E1 cells.(3)Deferoxamine also activated the hypoxia-inducible factor 1α/vascular endothelial growth factor pathway in dexamethasone-treated MC3T3-E1 cells. To conclude, deferoxamine can alleviate apoptosis in osteoblasts induced by dexamethasone treatment, maintain the vitality of osteoblasts by activating the hypoxia-inducible factor 1α/vascular endothelial growth factor signaling pathway, and promote their proliferation, which may help delay the progression of steroid-induced osteonecrosis of the femoral head.
