With the extensive application of nuclear technology in industry, agriculture, and medicine, the safety issues associated with neutron radiation have become increasingly prominent. Due to their high penetrability and strong ionization effect, neutrons can cause serious health risks by directly damaging DNA or inducing secondary γ radiation. Therefore, the neutron radiation protection has become a core challenge in radiation protection, especially the research and development of neutron shielding materials. To ensure the safe development of nuclear technology, neutron shielding materials are indispensable and constitute a fundamental core technology for radiation protection. This paper reviews the theory of neutron radiation protection and the research progress of neutron shielding materials, with a focus on the current application status and existing problems of neutron shielding materials. This article also discusses the future development trends. This review aims to provide theoretical support and technical references for the safe application and development of nuclear technology.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) expresses abundant glycolytic enzymes and displays comprehensive glucose metabolism reprogramming. Aldolase A (ALDOA) plays a prominent role in glycolysis; however, little is known about its role in HCC development. In the present study, we aim to explore how ALDOA is involved in HCC proliferation. HCC proliferation was markedly suppressed both in vitro and in vivo following ALDOA knockout, which is consistent with ALDOA overexpression encouraging HCC proliferation. Mechanistically, ALDOA knockout partially limits the glycolytic flux in HCC cells. Meanwhile, ALDOA translocated to nuclei and directly interacted with c-Jun to facilitate its Thr93 phosphorylation by P21-activated protein kinase; ALDOA knockout markedly diminished c-Jun Thr93 phosphorylation and then dampened c-Jun transcription function. A crucial site Y364 mutation in ALDOA disrupted its interaction with c-Jun, and Y364S ALDOA expression failed to rescue cell proliferation in ALDOA deletion cells. In HCC patients, the expression level of ALDOA was correlated with the phosphorylation level of c-Jun (Thr93) and poor prognosis. Remarkably, hepatic ALDOA was significantly upregulated in the promotion and progression stages of diethylnitrosamine-induced HCC models, and the knockdown of A ldoa strikingly decreased HCC development in vivo. Our study demonstrated that ALDOA is a vital driver for HCC development by activating c-Jun-mediated oncogene transcription, opening additional avenues for anti-cancer therapies.

Objective To explore the inhibitory effect of Sidaxue, a traditional Miao herbal medicine formula, on articular bone and cartilage destruction and synovial neovascularization in rats with collagen-induced arthritis (CIA). Methods In a SD rat model of CIA, we tested the effects of daily gavage of Sidaxue at low, moderate and high doses (10, 20, and 40 g/kg, respectively) for 21 days, with Tripterygium glycosides (GTW) as the positive control, on swelling in the hind limb plantar regions by arthritis index scoring. Pathologies in joint synovial membrane of the rats were observed with HE staining, and serum TNF-α and IL-1β levels were detected with ELISA. The expressions of NF-κB p65, matrix metalloproteinase 1 (MMP1), MMP2 and MMP9 at the mRNA and protein levels in the synovial tissues were detected using real-time PCR and Western blotting. Network pharmacology analysis was conducted to identify the important target proteins in the pathways correlated with the therapeutic effects of topical Sidaxue treatment for RA, and the core target proteins were screened by topological analysis. Results Treatment with GTW and Sidaxue at the 3 doses all significantly alleviated plantar swelling, lowered arthritis index scores, improved cartilage and bone damage and reduced neovascularization in CIA rats (P<0.05), and the effects of Sidaxue showed a dose dependence. Both GTW and Sidaxue treatments significantly lowered TNF-α, IL-1β, NF-κB p65, MMP1, MMP2, and MMP9 mRNA and protein expressions in the synovial tissues of CIA rats (P<0.05). Network pharmacological analysis identified MMPs as the core proteins associated with topical Sidaxue treatment of RA. Conclusion Sidaxue alleviates articular bone and cartilage damages and reduces synovial neovascularization in CIA rats possibly by downregulating MMPs via the TNF-α/IL-1β/NF-κB-MMP1, 2, 9 signaling pathway, and MMPs probably plays a key role in mediating the effect of Sidaxue though the therapeutic pathways other than oral administration.

Objective:To analyze the satisfaction of elderly outpatient experience, based on a satisfaction questionnaire survey of outpatients in public hospitals, for references to improve the medical experience of elderly patients. Methods:This study extracted the satisfaction survey questionnaires for outpatients in second level and above public hospitals nationwide from the National Health Commission′s satisfaction survey platform from 2019 to 2022. The questionnaire content included six dimensions: registration experience, doctor-patient communication, nurse-patient communication, environment and labeling, privacy protection, and medical staff response, as well as overall satisfaction. The satisfaction, relative satisfaction, and dissatisfaction rates of elderly outpatients were analyzed using standardized assignment of question options, etc; T-test was used for inter group comparison. Results:A total of 10.095 7 million outpatient satisfaction questionnaires were included in this study, including 0.576 3 million questionnaires for elderly outpatients. From 2019 to 2022, the overall satisfaction of outpatients had been increasing year by year, and the overall satisfaction scores of elderly patients were significantly higher than that of non-elderly patients( P<0.01). The satisfaction scores of elderly patients in the nurse communication dimension(86.55 to 91.03 points) and relative satisfaction(1.000) were the higher in each year, while the satisfaction scores in the environment and identification dimension(81.05 to 86.03 points) and relative satisfaction(0.935 to 0.955) were lower. In 2019 and 2022, elderly patients had higher dissatisfaction rates in the two dimensions of registration experience(2.26%, 1.91%) and doctor communication(0.80%, 0.53%). Conclusions:From 2019 to 2022, the overall satisfaction of elderly patients in secondary and above public hospitals in China was relatively higher with a steady increasing tendency. However, there was still room for further improvement in the environment and labeling, cultural construction, and registration experience for elderly patients.

Objective:To compare the changes in pelvic floor electrophysiology and imaging in female patients with myofascial pelvic pain (MFPP), and to explore the characteristics and significance of these changes. Methods:A total of 49 MFPP patients who were admitted to the of Dalian Women′s and Children′s Medical Center (Group) from January 2019 to October 2021 were randomly selected as the research group, and 41 healthy women during the same period were selected as the control group. Both groups filled in the center′s medical history and general condition survey form. French PHENIX series pelvic floor muscle potential detection instrument was used to detect the resting vaginal muscle potential and maximum muscle potential of the two groups. The static tension, dynamic tension and pelvic floor muscle contraction force of the two groups were measured by French PHENIX series electronic tensioning apparatus with 5° and 10° opening respectively. Two dimensional transperineal ultrasound and three dimensional transvaginal ultrasound produced by B-K Company in Denmark were used to measure the length between the lower margin of the bladder neck from the symphysis pubis and the bladder neck and the bladder bottom (BND, BSD), the diameter of the genital tract hiatus and the angle of the anus and rectum. The area, anterior-posterior diameter, transverse diameter and different damage degrees of levator ani levator were measured. Results:The resting muscle potential of the study group was higher than that of the control group: 2 μV vs. 1 μV ( P<0.05); the maximum vaginal myopotential was higher than that of the control group: 7 μV vs. 6 μV ( P<0.05). The static tension, dynamic tension and contractile force: 204 g/m 2 vs. 175 g/m 2, 450 g/m 2 vs. 410 g/m 2 and 237 g/m 2 vs. 51 g/m 2 of pelvic floor muscle in the study group were higher than those in the control group when the tensioner was opened for 5° ( P<0.05). In resting state, BND, BSD and reproductive tract hiatus diameter in the study group were smaller than those in the control group: 14.0 mm vs. 16.7 mm, 15.3 mm vs. 19.7 mm, 46.7 mm vs. 49.5 mm ( P<0.05). The anal angle was greater than that of the control group: 129° vs. 112° ( P<0.05). The anal right angle in the study group was greater than that in the control group: 113° vs. 109° ( P<0.05). In the resting state, the area of levator ANI hiatus: 10.1 cm 2 vs. 11.6 cm 2, anterior and posterior diameters: 44.2 mm vs. 47.4 mm, transverse diameters and the defect scores of levator ani in the study group were all smaller than those in the control group ( P<0.05). Conclusions:MFPP presents with persistent pelvic floor muscle spasm and loss of coordination. MFPP can be treated by spasmolysis of pelvic floor muscle and fascia, which provides reference value for clinical treatment.

ObjectiveTo explore the therapeutic effect of Huangliansan on atopic dermatitis (AD) model mice induced by 2, 4-dinitrochlorobenzene (DNCB). MethodA total of 42 male BALB/c mice were randomly divided into normal group, model group, hydrocortisone group, low, medium, and high-dose groups (0.3, 0.6, 1.2 g·kg-1) of Huangliansan oil, and water extract group (0.6 g·kg-1) of Huangliansan. In addition to the normal group, DNCB was applied on the back of mice in other groups to establish the AD model. On the 15th day after DNCB stimulation, each group was given the corresponding drug or solvent, and the changes in skin lesions, dermatitis score, and frequency of scratching were observed and recorded. Hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining was used to observe the histopathological changes in the skin and spleen. Real-time fluorescent quantitative polymerase chain reaction (Real-time PCR) was used to detect mRNA levels of filaggrin (FLG), lorophane (LOR), and involucrin (IVL) in skin, as well as immunoglobulin E (lgE), interleukin-4 (IL-4), interleukin-6 (IL-6), interleukin-1β (IL-1β), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), and interferon-γ (IFN-γ) in spleen. ResultCompared with the normal group, the model group showed symptoms of skin swelling and scab, and the score of dermatitis, the frequency of scratching, and the spleen index were increased (P<0.05). The expression levels of FLG, LOR, and IVL in skin tissue were significantly decreased (P<0.01), and the mRNA expressions of IgE, IL-4, IL-6, IL-1β, and TNF-α in the spleen were significantly increased, while the expression level of IFN-γ was significantly decreased (P<0.01). Compared with the model group, the symptoms of skin erythema, scaly, and scab of mice in each drug group were alleviated to varying degrees, and the score of dermatitis, the frequency of scratching, and the spleen index were decreased (P<0.05, P<0.01). In addition, the expression levels of FLG, LOR, and IVL in the skin of mice in the drug group were increased (P<0.05, P<0.01), and the mRNA expression of IgE, IL-4, IL-6, IL-1β, and TNF-α in spleen were decreased. IFN-γ was increased (P<0.05, P<0.01), and the lesions of the skin and spleen were improved to varying degrees. The medium-dose group of Huangliansan oil and hydrocortisone group had the most obvious manifestations (P<0.05, P<0.01). The indexes in the medium-dose group of Huangliansan oil were better than those in the water extract group of Huangliansan. ConclusionHuangliansan may improve the expression level of skin barrier protein, inhibit the expression of helper T cell 2 (Th2)-related inflammatory factors, increase the expression of helper T cell 1 (Th1) inflammatory factors, restore the skin barrier function and Th1/Th2 balance in the spleen, regulate the inflammatory response in the spleen of AD mice, and thus relieve AD. Huangliansan oil is more effective than water extract.
