Objective To scan and accurately reconstruct mandible models printed via fused deposition modeling(FDM)that contain screw path information, using cone-beam CT(CBCT),to achieve the digital transfer of preoperative model screw paths. Methods CBCT scans were conducted on 12 FDM-printed mandibular models(Model1 group)intended for prebending reconstruction plates.Mim-ics software was employed to reconstruct scanned data into mandibular models(Model2 group)and extract digital screw path informa-tion.Model2 was then compared with original models(Model0 group)in three dimensions, evaluating reconstruction accuracy through root mean square(RMS).Reconstruction parameters were optimized to enable automatic matching of Model2 with Model0,facilitating precise digital transfer of screw paths. In clinical application, this method was utilized to produce digital short-segment drilling guides, assisting in the reduction surgery of three mandibular fracture patients. Results Model2 demonstrated automatic matching with Model0,exhibiting detailed surface characteristics and clear screw path position and orientation information. The RMS was measured at(0.32±0.09)mm.Utilization of digital segmented screw path transfer guides assisted in the satisfactory reduction surgery of three pa-tients with comminuted mandibular fractures. Conclusion CBCT scanning of FDM-printed preoperative models accurately captures screw path position and orientation information, enabling digital transfer of screw paths and providing a novel method for precise design of digital surgical guides.

Psoriasis is an incurable chronic inflammatory disease that requires new interventions. Here, we found that fibroblasts exacerbate psoriasis progression by promoting macrophage recruitment via CCL2 secretion by single-cell multi-omics analysis. The natural small molecule celastrol was screened to interfere with the secretion of CCL2 by fibroblasts and improve the psoriasis-like symptoms in both murine and cynomolgus monkey models. Mechanistically, celastrol directly bound to the low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 1 (LRP1) β-chain and abolished its binding to the transcription factor c-Jun in the nucleus, which in turn inhibited CCL2 production by skin fibroblasts, blocked fibroblast-macrophage crosstalk, and ameliorated psoriasis progression. Notably, fibroblast-specific LRP1 knockout mice exhibited a significant reduction in psoriasis like inflammation. Taken together, from clinical samples and combined with various mouse models, we revealed the pathogenesis of psoriasis from the perspective of fibroblast-macrophage crosstalk, and provided a foundation for LRP1 as a novel potential target for psoriasis treatment.

Objective To investigate the association of spleen volume with the risk of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)as well as their causal relationship. Methods We included 90 NAFLD cases and 47 healthy controls who had received contrast-enhanced computed tomography(CT)scan of the abdomen at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University from November 2022 to November 2023.We conducted three-dimensional reconstruction of the spleen through a deep learning network model using a two-stage coarse-to-fine segmentation approach. We compared the two groups using the two-sample t test or Mann-Whitney U test for continuous data and using the chi-square test for categorical data;evaluated the correlation between spleen volume and liver function indicators through Pearson correlation or Spearman rank correlation analyses;determined the factors influencing the development of NAFLD through multivariable Logistic regression analysis;and further assessed the casual relationship between spleen volume and NAFLD using the inverse variance-weighted two-sample Mendelian randomization(IVW-MR)method.Results Spleen volume was significantly larger in NAFLD cases than in controls(272.93±104.16 vs 204.37±81.20 cm3,P<0.001).The Spearman rank correlation analysis showed that spleen volume was positively correlated with the hepatic steatosis index(rs=0.422,P<0.001)and gamma-glutamyl transferase levels(rs=0.211,P=0.047)in patients with NAFLD.The multivariable Logistic regression analysis indicated that spleen volume was an independent risk factor for the development of NAFLD(odds ratio[OR]=1.01,95%confidence interval[CI]:1.00-1.02,P=0.049).The IVW-MR analysis detected a causal relationship between spleen volume and NAFLD(OR=1.16,95%CI:1.05-1.28,P=0.005).Conclusion Increased spleen volume may be a risk factor for the development and progression of NAFLD.Further studies are still needed to investigate the specific mechanism.

Major depressive disorder (MDD) has become an increasingly serious public health issue, characterized by high incidence and high disability rates. It often coexists with other mental health problems and physical diseases, with a significant negative impact on patients' quality of life. In clinical practice, MDD is considered a heterogeneous disease. The complexity of the pathological mechanisms and the variability in treatment responses lead to a lack of clear therapeutic targets, which complicates the treatment process. In recent years, with advancements in neuroscience, the crucial role of microglia in the pathogenesis of MDD has been revealed. As the main immune cells in the brain, microglia are not only involved in the regulation of neuroinflammation but also play important roles in neurogenesis and neuronal regulation in MDD. This article mainly discusses the role of microglia in the pathophysiological mechanisms of MDD, aiming to provide a theoretical basis for microglia as a potential target for the treatment of MDD.

The Republic of China period (1912—1949) was an important stage of transition from traditional herbalism to clinical Chinese materia medica. The clinical application of Chinese materia medica became the focus of academic attention. During the Republic of China period, the research objectives, methods, and content of clinical Chinese materia medica were clarified, and the basic framework of Chinese materia medica was established through efficacy classification and item description. Based on the historical background at that time, striving for survival in adversity were the internal factors driving the construction of clinical Chinese materia medica, and the rise of academic education and the popularity of traditional Chinese medicine journals provided favorable conditions for the development of clinical Chinese materia medica. The clinical Chinese materia medica during the Republic of China period gradually formed a theoretical structure and core content that was distinctly different from that of traditional herbal medicine, which was integrated with the scientific research of Chinese materia medica and promoted the continuous development of Chinese materia medica together with other subdisciplines, presenting distinctive characteristics of the times and important academic significance.
