Background:
Recombinant human follicle-stimulating hormone (rhFSH) is commonly used to treat female infertility, but its short half-life necessitates multiple doses. Even corifollitropin alfa, with an extended half-life, requires supplementary injections of rhFSH after 7 days. This study aimed to develop and evaluate a long-acting follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) formulation using anti-serum albumin Fab-associated (SAFA) technology to avoid additional injections and enhance ovarian function.
Methods:
SAFA-FSH was synthesized using a Chinese hamster ovary expression system. Its biological efficacy was confirmed through assays measuring its ability to stimulate cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) production, estradiol synthesis, and the expression of human cytochrome P450 family 19 subfamily A member 1 (hCYP19α1) and human steroidogenic acute regulatory protein (hSTAR) in human ovarian granulosa (KGN) cells. To evaluate the effects of SAFA-FSH, we compared its impact on serum estradiol levels and ovarian weight increase with that of rhFSH in Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats using the modified Steelman-Pohley test.
Results:
The results indicated that SAFA-FSH induces cAMP synthesis in KGN cells and upregulates the expression of hCYP19α1 and hSTAR in a dose-dependent manner. Female SD rats, aged 21 days, receiving daily subcutaneous human chorionic gonadotropin injections for 5 days exhibited a significant increase in serum estradiol levels and ovarian weight when administered SAFA-FSH on the first day or when given nine injections of rhFSH over 5 days. Notably, the group receiving SAFA-FSH on the first and third days demonstrated an even greater rise in serum estradiol levels and ovarian weight.
Conclusion
These findings suggest that SAFA-FSH presents a promising alternative to current rhFSH treatments for female infertility. However, further research is essential to thoroughly assess its safety and efficacy in clinical contexts.

Journal of the Korean Dietetic Association 2025;31(2):91-100
The need to implement vegetarian meal plans in school meals to promote sustainable eating among adolescents is increasing. This study examined students’ perceptions of a vegetarian day, and its association with dietary quality. This study surveyed 372 adolescents (230 males, 142 females) in Daejeon, Korea, assessing their perceptions of a vegetarian day and their nutrition quotient for adolescents (NQ-A). The perception of a vegetarian day was 3.21 out of 5, showing no significant gender difference. Among all participants, the item “I think a vegetarian day will help students’ health” received the highest score (3.67). The item “I think a vegetarian day is about respecting the diversity of students” scored significantly higher among females than males, whereas the item “It is better to include meat substitutes as well as mixed grains, beans, vegetables and fruits on a vegetarian day” scored lower among females than males. Correlation analysis showed that the perceptions of a vegetarian day were significantly positively associated with the total NQ-A score and the moderation domain score in all participants. Based on these findings, efforts should be made to enhance the positive perceptions of a vegetarian day among adolescents while exploring various approaches to its effective implementation.

Journal of Regional Anatomy and Operative Surgery 2024;33(6):497-500
Objective To analyze the risk factors of gastrointestinal bleeding in patients with type A aortic dissection(TAAD)after Sun's operation. Methods The clinical data of 87 patients who underwent TAAD Sun's operation in our hospital from March 2021 to June 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. They were divided into the bleeding group and the non-bleeding group according to whether there was gastrointestinal bleeding after operation. The clinical data of patients in the two groups was compared and analyzed. The binary Logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the risk factors of gastrointestinal bleeding. The clinical predictor of postoperative gastrointestinal bleeding was analyzed by receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve. Results In this study, there were 40 cases of postoperative gastrointestinal bleeding(the bleeding group)and 47 cases of non-bleeding(the non-bleeding group).Compared with the non-bleeding group, the bleeding group had a shorter onset time,a higher proportion of patients with hypertension history,a higher preoperative creatinine abnormality rate, more intraoperative blood loss, longer postoperative mechanical ventilation time, higher postoperative infection rate, and higher poor prognosis rate, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the gender, age, gastrointestinal diseases history, smoking history, preoperative platelets, preoperative international normalized ratio(INR),preoperative alanine aminotransferase(ALT),preoperative aspartate aminotransferase(AST),preoperative γ-glutamyl transpeptidase(GGT),preoperative dissection involving abdominal aorta, operation time, intraoperative cardiopulmonary bypass time, intraoperative circulatory arrest time, intraoperative aortic occlusion time or intraoperative blood transfusion rate.Logistic regression analysis showed that hypertension history(OR=2.468,95%CI:0.862 to 7.067,P=0.037),preoperative creatinine>105 μmol/L(OR=3.970,95%CI:1.352 to 11.659,P=0.011),long postoperative mechanical ventilation time(OR=1.015,95%CI:0.094 to 1.018,P=0.041)and postoperative infection(OR=3.435,95%CI:0.991 to 11.900,P=0.012)were the independent risk factors for postoperative gastrointestinal bleeding in TAAD patients.ROC curve showed that the postoperative mechanical ventilation time exceeding 64 hours were the clinical predictor of postoperative gastrointestinal bleeding in TAAD patients. Conclusion The prognosis of TAAD patients with postoperative gastrointestinal bleeding after Sun's operation is poor.Hypertension history, preoperative acute renal insufficiency, long postoperative mechanical ventilation time and postoperative infection are closely related to postoperative gastrointestinal bleeding in TAAD patients after operation, which should be paid more attention to,and corresponding evaluation, early identification and early intervention should be made to improve the prognosis of patients.

Aim To predict the mechanism of Fufang Congrong Yizhi Capsules (FCYC) in the treatment of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) by network pharmacology method, and further validate it in combination with cellular experiments. Methods TCMSP, Gene-Cards, OMIM and TTD databases, Chinese Pharmacopoeia and related literature were used to screen the active ingredients of FCYC and the targets of MCI treatment. The TCM-compound-target-disease network and PPI of intersection targets were constructed, and the GO and KEGG analysis were performed by the Ehamb bioinformation platform. GO and KEGG analysis were performed through Yihanbo biological information platform. Cell model of MCI was established by PC-12 injury induced by Aβ
