This consensus was developed by the Orthodontic Society of the Chinese Stomatological Association to provide a systematic, scientific, and practical guideline for informed consent in orthodontic care. Orthodontic treatment is typically lengthy, highly individualized, and involves multiple factors such as growth and development, occlusal function, and facial esthetics. Rapid technological advances and diverse risk profiles make the traditional reliance on orthodontist experience or institutional templates insufficient to ensure patients′ full understanding and autonomous decision-making. To address this, the expert panel conducted extensive reviews of domestic and international guidelines, analyzed representative dispute cases, and performed multicenter patient-clinician surveys. Using a multi-round Delphi method, the group established a standardized informed consent framework covering the initial consultation, treatment, and retention phases. The consensus emphasizes that informed consent is not only a fundamental legal and ethical requirement but also a key step in building trust, improving patient compliance, and enhancing treatment satisfaction. Orthodontists should clearly and comprehensively explain treatment plans, potential risks, uncertainties, and associated costs, while respecting the autonomy of patients or guardians, and maintain continuous communication and dynamic evaluation throughout the treatment process. The release of this consensus provides unified and authoritative guidance for clinical orthodontics, helping to standardize informed consent, enhance its transparency, safeguard patient rights, reduce medical risks, and promote high-quality, sustainable development of orthodontic practice.

Objective To explore the ultrasonic cleaning effect and influencing factors of emergency laparoscopic surgical instruments at night. Methods A total of 698 emergency laparoscopic surgical instruments cleaned by ultrasound at night were selected as the research subjects, and the unqualified ultrasonic cleaning of instruments was statistically analyzed.Univariate and multivariate binary Logistic regression equations were used to analyze the factors that may lead to unqualified ultrasonic cleaning. Results Among 698 ultrasonic cleaning sessions for emergency laparoscopic surgical instruments at night,a total of 55 times(7.88%)were unqualified. The results of univariate and multivariate binary Logistic regression analysis showed that the time from cleaning to the end of surgery≥10 hours, luminal surgical instruments, nonstandard pretreatment, unqualified cleaning water quality, and unqualified cleaning medium were the risk factors that lead to the occurrence of unqualified ultrasonic cleaning of emergency laparoscopic surgical instruments at night(OR>1,P<0.05),while manual+ultrasonic cleaning was the protective factor to avoid the occurrence of unqualified ultrasonic cleaning of emergency laparoscopic surgical instruments at night(OR<1,P<0.05).Conclusion The unqualified rate of ultrasonic cleaning of emergency laparoscopic surgical instruments at night is relatively high,so it should be cleaned as early as possible after the surgery. Before ultrasonic cleaning, manual clean-ing should be carried out as much as possible, especially for luminal surgical instruments that are difficult to clean, standardized pretreatment should be carried out,and qualified cleaning water quality and medium should be selected.

Observational studies are important approaches for obtaining real-world evidence. However, due to the lack of randomized allocation, differences in baseline characteristics between groups often introduce confounding bias, which may distort the results.Traditional stratified analyses and multivariable regression models have limited ability to control confounding when multiple covariates are involved.Propensity score matching estimates the probability of receiving an intervention based on observed covariates, then matches individuals with similar propensity scores between treatment and control groups, thereby balancing covariate distributions and reducing confounding. In recent years, propensity score matching has been widely applied in various fields, including chronic disease management and drug effectiveness evaluation, public health policy and health service assessment, vaccine effectiveness studies focusing on population disparities, and evaluations of telemedicine interventions. This review summarizes common matching methods and application scenarios of propensity score matching in observational studies.

In recent decades, the incidence of human papillomavirus(HPV)-associated oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma(OPSCC)has shown a marked increase.Significant changes have also occurred in the OPSCC diagnosis and treatment paradigm.Deter-mining HPV status prior to treatment is now essential, and radiotherapy/chemotherapy,immunotherapy,and minimally invasive surgical techniques have progressively emerged as key modalities for managing OPSCC.However, alongside these paradigm shifts,a comprehen-sive technical consensus guiding the entire diagnostic and therapeutic process for OPSCC patients is currently lacking.Given China's large population base and the rising incidence of OPSCC,an expert panel convened to develop a clinical technical consensus on OPSCC diagno-sis and management tailored to China's specific context. This consensus aims to further enhance and standardize understanding of OPSCC management techniques among relevant healthcare professionals.

Body weight abnormalities, including overweight, obesity, and underweight, have become a dual public health challenge in Chinese adults: overweight and obesity lead to a variety of chronic complications, while underweight increases the risks of malnutrition, sarcopenia, and organ dysfunction. To systematically address these issues, multidisciplinary experts in endocrinology, sports science, nutrition, and psychiatry from various regions have held multiple weight management seminars. Based on the latest epidemiological data and clinical evidence, they expanded the guideline to include assessment and intervention strategies for underweight, in addition to the core content of obesity management. This guideline outlines the etiological mechanisms, evaluation methods, and multidimensional management strategies for overweight and obesity, covering key areas such as diagnosis and assessment, medical nutrition therapy, exercise prescription, pharmacological intervention, and psychological support. It is intended to provide a scientific and standardized approach to weight management across the adult population, aiming to curb the rising prevalence of obesity, mitigate complications associated with abnormal body weight, and improve nutritional status and overall quality of life.

AIM To investigate the effects of Rutong Ruanjian Tablets on angiogenesis in cancer tissues of rats with preneoplastic breast cancer(PBC).METHODS 60 female SD rats were randomly divided into a blank group of 10 rats and a model group of 50 rats for the establishment of the PBC models of Liver-Qi Stagnation and Blood Stasis Pattern with 9 weeks of oral administration of 7,12-dimethylbenz[a]anthracene(DMBA)and cervical ligation. After successful modeling, the rats were randomly divided into the model group, the tamoxifen group(3.2 mg/kg),the Rutong Ruanjian Tablets group(128 mg/kg),the 3,5-difluorobenzoyl group(DAPT,5 mg/kg),and the Rutong Ruanjian Tablets(128 mg/kg via gavage)+DAPT(5 mg/kg intraperitoneal injection)group, for 1 month corresponding drug administration, with 10 rats in each group. Then the rats had their cancer progression and syndrome scores observed;their angiogenesis evaluated by assessment of microvascular density(MVD);their vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)expression assessed by immunohistochemistry;and their mRNA and protein expressions of proteins related to the DLL4/Notch1/Hes1 pathway measured using RT-qPCR,immunohistochemistry and Western blot.RESULTS During carcinogenesis of rats induced by DMBA,there was gradual disappearance of E-cadherin expression and consistency of HE staining result with the PBC progression confirming the success of the modeling.Compared with the blank group, the model group showed increased MVD values,mRNA expression of Notch1 and Hes1,and protein expressions of VEGF,DLL4,Notch1 and Hes1(P<0.05,P<0.01).Compared with the model group, the Rutong Ruanjian Tablets group exhibited reduced MVD values,mRNA expression of Notch1 and Hes1,and protein expressions of VEGF,DLL4,Notch1 and Hes1(P<0.05,P<0.01).The Rutong Ruanjian Tablets+DAPT group showed reduced mRNA expression of Notch1 and Hes1,and protein expressions of DLL4,Notch1 and Hes1 compared to the Rutong Ruanjian Tablets group(P<0.05,P<0.01).CONCLUSION Rutong Ruanjian Tablets can inhibit angiogenesis and attenuate cancer progression in PBC rats of Liver-Qi Stagnation and Blood Stasis Pattern, and the mechanism may lie in the downregulation of DLL4/Notch1/Hes1 signaling pathway related proteins.
