Background Unhealthy lifestyle behaviors may be associated with an increased risk of cardiometabolic risk factor aggregation (CMRF≥ 2), and few studies have focused on the correlation between the two in occupational populations. Objective To investigate the current status of CMRF≥2 and the compliance of healthy lifestyle in male occupational personnel, explore the effect of lifestyle on cardiometabolic risk, and provide reference for formulating healthy behavior promotion strategies and reducing cardiometabolic risk in occupational populations. Methods The study subjects were selected from male workers who completed occupational health examinations at an occupational disease prevention and control hospital in Shanxi Province from May to December 2023, and

Objective:To prepare histatin 1 (Hst 1) and D-histatin 1 (D-Hst 1) coatings on pure titanium surfaces and to evaluate their impact on the initial adhesion and spreading of mouse bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (mBMSC).Methods:The test pieces were divided into four groups: pure titanium, piranha solution-treated, 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane-treated, Hst 1 modified groups or D-Hst 1 modified groups, with five pieces in each group. The surface hydrophilicity of the test pieces was detected by contact angle measurement. The surface microtopography was observed using atomic force microscopy (AFM), and the surface elemental composition was analyzed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The modification of Hst 1 on the titanium surface and the early adhesion and spreading of the third-generation normal mBMSC on Hst 1/D-Hst 1 modified group were observed using confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM).Results:The Hst 1 modified group had better surface hydrophilicity (contact angle 51.63°±3.80°) compared to the pure titanium group (contact angle 60.36°±4.38°). AFM observations revealed shallow mechanical scratches on the surfaces of all test pieces. CLSM and XPS elemental analysis confirmed the successful modification of Hst 1 on the titanium surface. Compared with the pure titanium group, both Hst 1 and D-Hst 1 could promoted the early adhesion of mBMSC. The Hst 1 modified group promoted the spreading of mBMSC after early adhesion, while the D-Hst 1 modified group showed no statistically significant difference in promoting mBMSC spreading compared to the pure titanium group ( P>0.05). Conclusions:The modification of Hst 1/D-Hst 1 on pure titanium surfaces using Schiff base reaction is effective. It is conducive to the early adhesion and spreading of mBMSC.

Objective:To explore the effect of exercise on glycemic control and physical indicators among community-dwelling persons with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).Methods:A total of 42 T2DM patients undergoing regular follow-up at a community health center were divided into a control group and an exercise group. To minimize confounding factors, 1∶1 propensity score matching was performed, resulting in 21 patients in each group. Both groups received standardized diabetes management, including medication, dietary guidance and diabetes health education. The exercise group additionally performed exercises which integrated sports and medical care models. The experiment lasted 8 weeks. Before and after the intervention, glycosylated hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) levels, body weight, body mass index (BMI), fat mass, visceral fat area (VFA), fat mass index (FMI) and appendicular skeletal muscle mass index (ASMI) were recorded and compared between the two groups. Moreover, the actual exercise compliance of the exercise group was observed, along with any adverse events such as hypoglycemia or exercise-related injuries, as well as changes in antidiabetic medication dosage. Results:After the intervention, significant improvement was observed in both groups in all of the measurements, but with the average HbA1c, BMI, fat mass, VFA and FMI values of the exercise group then significantly better than the control group′s averages. The average compliance rate in the exercise group was 60%. No cases of hypoglycemia or exercise-related injuries were reported during the intervention, and there were no changes in the use of anti-diabetes medications. Conclusions:Exercise effectively improves glycemic control and physical indicators among community-dwelling T2DM patients. However, exercise compliance needs improving.

Objective To analyze the prevalence of chronic diseases and its influencing factors of dust-exposed male workers in a coal mine. Methods A total of 9 782 dust-exposed male workers from a coal mine in Shanxi Province were selected as the study subjects using the purposive sampling method. Their occupational health examination results were collected to analyze the prevalence of chronic diseases and its influencing factors. Results The prevalence of dyslipidemia, hyperuricemia, hypertension and diabetes were 40.3%, 30.7%, 23.5% and 5.6%, respectively. The prevalence of chronic diseases was 64.8%. Among them, the prevalence of having one, two, three or more chronic diseases were 36.5%, 21.6% and 6.7%, respectively. The prevalence of comorbid chronic diseases was 28.3%, with the highest prevalence of concurrent dyslipidemia and hyperuricemia of 11.0%. The results of binary logistic regression analysis showed that the risk of chronic disease was higher in workers <40 years old, smoking, overweight, obesity and total working years >20 years (all P<0.05). The results of multinomial logistic regression analysis showed that workers <40 years old, overweight, obesity and total working years >20 years were risk factors for having one chronic disease (all P<0.05). The workers <40 years old, smoking, overweight, obesity and total working years >20 years were risk factors for having two chronic diseases (all P<0.05). The workers <40 years old, smoking, alcohol consumption, overweight, obesity, other types of work, and working years >20 years were risk factors for having three or more chronic diseases (all P<0.05). Conclusion The prevalence of chronic diseases is high and the comorbidity of chronic diseases is common among dust-exposed male workers. The main influencing factors were age, smoking, alcohol consumption, overweight, obesity, type of work, and working year. Workers with more contributing factors have higher risk of chronic comorbidities.

Chinese Journal of Experimental Traditional Medical Formulae 2023;29(21):172-179
Immune escape is one of the ten hallmarks of tumors, which plays an important role in the occurrence and development of tumors. Immune escape refers to a process where tumor cells remodel and edit the immune system through the model of immune clearance, immune balance, and immune escape to "transform" the immune cells into immunosuppressive cells in the tumor microenvironment, so as to support immune escape. The five-stage evolution is the summary of tumor pathogenesis by professor LI Jie. He believes that the gradual development of tumors follows the core pathogenesis of "deficiency-cold-toxin-obstruction-collapse", in which "depression" runs through the whole process, and cancer toxin is the key. Based on immune editing, this paper combined phenotypic characteristics of tumor cells with the core pathogenesis of the five-stage evolution of professor LI to reveal the biological basis of malignant tumor five-stage evolution. The results indicate that the prominent change from deficiency to cold is the reduction of immune surveillance and the prominent change from toxin to obstruction is immune escape. The final stage of collapse is the outcome of immune failure. Depression is the booster of tumor immune editing. Therefore, the method of reinforcing the healthy Qi and removing toxins was proposed to regulate the immune editing and cut off the five-stage evolution of tumors. Supplementing Qi and warming Yang can reinforce the healthy Qi and restore immune surveillance. Removing toxins and dredging can reverse toxins and immune escape. The harmonizing method can maintain the dynamic balance of immune cells/immunosuppressive cells. Resolving depression can truncate tumor immune editing. Those methods can provide a certain reference for the treatment based on microscopic syndrome differentiation in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). In future studies, it is necessary to further explore the specific mechanism of the regulation of immune editing with the methods of supplementing Qi and warming Yang, removing toxins and dredging, their combination, and resolving depression, so as to find out specific Chinese medicines and targets and provide more sufficient evidence for the regulation of tumor immune editing by TCM.
