Objective:Understanding of the psychological experiences of young and middle-aged male patients with schizophrenia regarding protective restraints.Methods:This study was qualitative study. Using purposive sampling, middle-aged and young male schizophrenia patients who had undergone protective restraints in the Affiliated Brain Hospital, Guangzhou Medical University were selected as participants from September to December 2022. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using Colaizzi 7-step analysis method.Results:A total of 12 young and middle-aged male schizophrenic patients were interviewed, and four themes were summarized, including patients' attitudes toward protective restraints, patients' emotional experiences, patients' physical experiences, and patients' needs during protective restraints.Conclusions:Protective restraints provide patients with safety in the acute phase, as well as a variety of positive and negative psychological experiences. Psychiatric nurses should grasp the patient's condition, dynamically assess the risk level, adopt appropriate restraint devices, improve restraint care based on the patient's needs, and actively seek alternative measures to restrain simultaneously.

BackgroundThe existing tools in China for assessing psychiatric nurses' knowledge， attitude and practice towards the use of protective restraint do not sufficiently consider the specialty in psychiatric practice， and the scale items are somewhat cumbersome to use， which together restrict their further promotion and application. Accordingly， there is an urgent need for developing a more scientific assessment tool. ObjectiveTo construct a scale for assessing psychiatric nurses' knowledge， attitude and practice towards the use of protective restraint and to verify its reliability and validity， so as to provide a generic tool for the assessment. MethodsBased on the theoretical framework of the knowledge-attitude-practice model， the preliminary scale was formed through systematic literature review， qualitative interview and Delphi method. From July to December 2021， a stratified sampling was utilized to select 729 psychiatric nurses from tertiary， secondary and primary （including unclassified medical institutions and grassroots hospitals） psychiatric hospitals in Guangdong Province. The formal scale was developed through item analysis， exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis. The validity of the scale was evaluated by content validity and structure validity， and the reliability was verified by procedures including Cronbach's α coefficient， test-retest reliability， and split-half reliability. ResultsA total of 12 items of three dimensions （knowledge， attitude， practice） were included in the scale for assessing psychiatric nurses' knowledge， attitude and practice towards the use of protective restraint. The scale-level content validity index （S-CVI） was 0.941， and the item-level content validity index （I-CVI） ranged from 0.812 to 1.000. Exploratory factor analysis extracted three common factors， and the cumulative variance contribution rate was 62.948%. The confirmatory factor yielded adequate fit. Cronbach's α coefficient was found to be 0.887 for the scale， 0.819 for knowledge dimension， 0.842 for attitude dimension， and 0.831 for practice dimension. The split-half reliability and test-retest reliability for the scale were 0.712 and 0.922， respectively. ConclusionThe scale shows satisfactory reliability and validity， which can be used to assess psychiatric nurses' knowledge， attitude and practice towards the use of protective restraint. ［Funded by Guangdong Clinical Teaching Base Teaching Reform Research Project （number， 2021JD119）］

Objective:To explore the real work experience and needs of nursing assistants of elderly patients with disability and mental disorders, and provide reference for relevant institutions to develop a reasonable support system and promote their physical and mental health.Methods:From October to November 2022, purposive sampling was used to select nursing assistants of elderly patients with disability and mental disorders from the Affiliated Brain Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University as the research subject. The phenomenological method was used to conduct in-depth interviews, recordings, and transcripts of 12 nursing assistants. The Colaizzi analysis program was used to analyze, organize, refine, and summarize.Results:A total of five themes were extracted, including multiple emotional experiences, lack of rest and relaxation, insufficient professional identity and external support, lack of care knowledge and skills, heavy workload and poor treatment.Conclusions:Accompanying management institutions and hospitals need to strengthen their attention to nursing assistants, reduce their physical and mental burden, attach importance to skill training, increase welfare benefits, enhance professional identity, and improve the quality of care.

This paper introduces the concept, basic theory and interventions of reminiscence therapy, summarizes the application status of reminiscence therapy in elderly patients with mental disorders and puts forward the prospect, so as to provide reference for research in China.

Objective:To explore the mediating effect of psychological resilience on the aggressive coping confidence and post-traumatic growth of psychiatric nurses.Methods:From July to September 2022, convenience sampling was used to select 1 200 psychiatric nurses from 5 psychiatric hospitals in Guangdong Province who had experienced workplace violence incidents as the research subject. The General Information Questionnaire, Confidence in Coping with Patient Aggression Instrument (CCPAI) , Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC) , and Post-Traumatic Growth Inventory (PTGI) were used to investigate psychiatric nurses. Pearson correlation analysis was used to explore the association between nurses' aggressive coping confidence, psychological resilience and post-traumatic growth. Multiple linear regression was used to analyze the influencing factors of post-traumatic growth, and the Process plug-in was used to conduct non parametric repeated measurement to test the mediating effect. A total of 1 200 questionnaires were distributed, with 135 invalid questionnaires excluded and an effective recovery rate of 88.75%.Results:1 065 psychiatric nurses scored (35.41±7.56) on their aggressive coping confidence, (65.55±16.73) on their psychological resilience, and (65.32±16.60) on their post-traumatic growth. The total score of post-traumatic growth was positively correlated with the aggressive coping confidence ( r=0.371, P<0.01) , and positively correlated with psychological resilience ( r=0.663, P<0.01) . Multiple linear regression analysis showed that aggressive coping confidence, toughness dimension, self-improvement dimension, marital status, and positional title were the main influencing factors for the post-traumatic growth of psychiatric nurses ( P<0.05) . Psychological resilience played a part of the mediating effect (36.69% of the total effect) in aggressive coping confidence and post-traumatic growth. Conclusions:The post-traumatic growth, aggressive coping confidence and psychological resilience of psychiatric nurses are at a medium level. The post-traumatic growth, aggression coping confidence and psychological resilience of psychiatric nurses who have experienced workplace violence are closely related. Psychological resilience has a mediating effect between aggression coping confidence and post-traumatic growth. The post-traumatic growth of psychiatric nurses can be improved by intervening their aggressive coping confidence and psychological resilience.

This article gives a review on the application status and clinical effect of behavioral activation （BA） therapy for patients with late-life depression， in which the theoretical content， research status and the characteristics of clinical application of BA therapy for patients with late-life depression were introduced， and the existing limitations and possible directions for future research were summarized， so as to provide references for the localization of BA therapy for patients with late-life depression.

Objective:To explore problems and self-experience of the newly graduated recruited nurses in the process of work and to provide a basis for formulating solutions to allow newly graduated recruited nurses to adapt to clinical work as soon as possible.Methods:The phenomenological method of qualitative study was used to interview 25 newly recruited nurses in a ClassⅢ Grade A hospital in Guangzhou from 2018 to 2019.Results:By sorting out, refining and analyzing the interview data, three concepts related to professional confusion, career planning limitation and emphasis on professional acquisition were extracted.Conclusions:Professional confusion is common in newly recruited nurses in department of psychiatry. Medical staff should pay attention to the psychological status and self-experience of newly recruited nurses in department of psychiatry, provide necessary help and support and reduce the negative experience of nurses so as to make them better adapt to clinical work.

Objective To evaluate the application effect of the comprehensive weight management mode, RAIDS ( hereinafter shortened as mode RAIDS ) , on patients with first-episode schizophrenia. Methods Totals of 83 patients with first-episode schizophrenia were selected and divided into experimental group, with 40 cases and control group, with 43 cases, according to admission date to the hospital. Patients in the experimental group were intervened according to mode RAIDS, by reviewing on experience, aerobic exercise, intervention on mentality, diet guidance and sleeping management, while patients in the control group were given routine nursing and guidance on physical exercise. The intervention lasted for 3 weeks. Index changes of patients in the two groups before and after the intervention were compared, including Positive and negative syndrome scale ( PANSS) scores, physical features[ body weight, body mass index ( BMI) and waist-to-hip ratio ( WHR) ] , biochemical indexes[ total cholesterol ( TC) , triglyceride ( TG) and fasting blood glucose ( GLU) ] , quality of sleeping[by Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI)], and length of hospital stay. Six months after discharge, mental syndromes, changes in physical features and medication compliance of the patients in the two groups were compared. Results Three weeks after the intervention, compared with the control group, TC, TG and GLU of patients in the experimental group were lower ( P<0. 05 ); 3 weeks and 6 months after the intervention, weight, BMI, WHR, PANSS scores and PSQI scores of patients in the experimental group were lower than those in the control group ( P<0.05);length of hospital stay of patients in the experimental group was shorter than those in the control group, and their medication compliance was higher and detachment rate was also lower in the experimental group (P<0.05).Conclusions RAIDS Mode can effectively promote alleviation of mental syndromes, improve glucolipid metabolism, sleeping quality and treatment compliance of the patients, and control weight gain.

Objective To improve interventional factors and clinical practice by exploring the effect of comprehensive weight management on reviewing, aerobic, intervention, diet guidance and sleeping management ( RAIDS) model in patients with early psychological aberration. Methods This study adopted phenomenological methods of qualitative study. 13 psychological aberration patients′ views on RAIDS model were collected. Results Four concepts including full support, regret, achievement, and positive expectation, were concluded and analyzed from interviews. Conclusions RAIDS weight management model has the function of controlling weight of psychological aberration patients, and it helps patients rebuilt their confidence. It is worth of being spread. Patients should be advised to strengthen oxidant activities. Over expectation of the effect of weight control needs a correct guide from nurses and professional staff. In addition, aimed social support and clearing negative emotion are effective in nursing intervention.
