Inflammation represents a critical immune response triggered by cellular activities and inflammatory mediators following tissue damage. It plays a central role in the pathological progression of diverse diseases, including psychiatric disorders, cancer, and immunological conditions, rendering it an essential target for therapeutic intervention. Periodontitis, a prevalent oral inflammatory disease, is a leading cause of tooth loss and poses significant health challenges globally. Traditionally, inflammatory diseases such as periodontitis have been treated with systemic administration of synthetic chemicals. However, recent years have witnessed challenges, including drug resistance and microbial dysbiosis associated with these treatments. In contrast, natural products derived from Chinese medicine offer numerous benefits, such as high safety profiles, minimal side effects, innovative pharmacological mechanisms, ease of extraction, and multiple targets, rendering them viable alternatives to conventional antibiotics for treating inflammatory conditions. Numerous effective anti-inflammatory natural products have been identified in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), including alkaloids, flavonoids, terpenoids, lignans, and other natural products that exhibit inhibitory effects on inflammation and are potential therapeutic agents. Several studies have confirmed the substantial anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties of these compounds. This comprehensive review examines the literature on the anti-inflammatory effects of TCM-derived natural products from databases such as PubMed, Web of Science, and CNKI, focusing on terms like "inflammation", "periodontitis", "pharmacology", and "traditional Chinese medicine". The analysis systematically summarizes the molecular pharmacology, chemical composition, and biological activities of these compounds in inflammatory responses, alongside their mechanisms of action. This research seeks to deepen understanding of the mechanisms and biological activities of herbal extracts in managing inflammatory diseases, potentially leading to the development of promising new anti-inflammatory drug candidates. Future applications could extend to the treatment of various inflammatory conditions, including periodontitis.

Antiviral therapy is the basic treatment method for improving prognosis recommended in the management guidelines of chronic hepatitis B in China and globally. For patients with chronic HBV infection and normal transaminases, it is difficult in clinical practice to accurately evaluate the progression of hepatitis and identify suitable patients who need antiviral therapy. In order to objectively and accurately evaluate the degree of liver inflammatory activity in such patients, more and more noninvasive evaluation indicators have been used in addition to conventional liver biopsy. This article reviews the new serological indicators that can reflect the degree of liver inflammation and/or fibrosis in patients with chronic HBV infection and normal aminotransferase levels, hoping to provide a reference for antiviral decision-making in these patients.

Objective:To deeply analyze the public health emergency reports of mumps in China, provide the basis for scientific prevention of mumps. Methods:Descriptive epidemiology and Poisson regression analysis were used to explore the characteristics and influencing factors of reported emergencies of mumps. Results:The total number of reported mumps emergencies in China from 2004 to 2020 was 5 229. Overall tendency of the number of reported emergencies was regarded as decreasing with fluctuation. Chongqing, Hunan, Guizhou, Guangxi and Gansu were the top five regions in the total number of reported emergencyies. The level of reported events was mainly general, most of reported emergencies occurred in primary and secondary schools. The events were reported more timely, the responding time was long (the minimum 30 d). After one dose of mumps vaccine was carried out nationwide in 2008, the number of reported emergencies in each year did not exceed the level of 2008, the number of reported events in Beijing, Shanghai and Tianjin with 2 dose of mumps vaccine was less than that of other regions, In 2008-2020, the number of reported emergencies of mumps was higher than that of measles and rubella in the same period, which indicated that 2 dose immunization had a certain effect on preventing the outbreak of measle and rubella. The lowest reported number of emergencies of mumps reached in 2020, suggesting that China has taken strict precautions against Coronavirus Disease 2019 and prevented the outbreak of mumps at the same time.Poisson regression of mumps outbreak revealed that the number of outbreaks was related to the reported incidence rate and vaccination strategy in each region. The emergency possibility of 1 dose vaccination was 3.924-32.284 times of 2 doses. Conclusions:Vaccination is an important means to prevent the outbreak of mumps. With the implementation of the immunization strategy of two doses of mumps vaccine in China from June 2020, the number of emergency reports of mumps is expected to further decline.

Objective To investigate stress induced Nox-4 expression and to explore its role in adipose inflammation. Methods Twenty male Kunming mice were randomly divided into two groups ( n=10 each) , chronic restraint stress group and control group. Stress mice were restrained in self-made restraint device for 2 hours per day for 14 days. HE staining, immunohistochemistry, RT-PCR, and ELISA were used to analyze the expression of Nox-4, CD11b, antioxidant protein ( Mn SOD, GSH-Px, Catalase), adipocytokines ( adiponectin, MCP-1, IL-6, TNF-a). Results White adipose tissue (WAT) of stress mice inguinal fat pad significantly shrank compared to control group. HE staining showed that there were a large number of mononuclear cells, neutrophils, eosinophils, and cell infiltration reactions and inflammatory changes in WAT of stress mice. The stress significantly increased CD11b-positive cells and the expression of mF4/80, CD68. The concentration of serum FFA in stress group increased significantly, nearly twice of the control group ( P<0.01) . Nox-4 positive staining cells in stress WAT were deeper and more abundant. The level of Nox-4 in stress WAT was significantly higher than that of control group(P<0.01). The levels of antioxidant proteins such as Mn-SOD, GSH-Px, and catalase in stress WAT were significantly lower than those of control group (P<0.01). The expression levels of adiponectin in stress WAT were significantly reduced as compared to control group ( P<0.01) . The levels of MCP-1, IL-6 and TNF-α in stress WAT were significantly higher than those in control group (P<0.01). Conclusion Stress may lead to imbalance of adipose oxidation/antioxidant system and abnormal expression of adipocytokines, which may result in adipose inflammation.
