Objective:To examine the long-term efficacy and complications of fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) for the treatment of diseases related to intestinal dysbiosis.Methods:This was a retrospective descriptive study. Relevant data were collected from the records of 15 000 patients who had undergone FMT and been followed up for more than 3 months during the period from May 2017 to September 2024. The patient cohort comprised 3746 male and 11 254 female patients aged (45.3±12.2) years. The inclusion criterion was meeting the indications for FMT. Application of this criterion yielded 8258 patients with constipation, 684 with Clostridium difficile infection, 1730 with chronic diarrhea, 510 with inflammatory bowel disease, 432 with radiation enteritis, 1940 with irritable bowel syndrome, 365 with autism, 870 with postoperative gastrointestinal dysfunction, and 211 with neurodegenerative diseases. The three routes of delivering FMT comprised infusion of an enterobacterial solution through a nasoenteric tube into the jejunum for 6 consecutive days (upper gastrointestinal FMT group, 11 125 patients), oral intake of enterobacterial capsules for 6 consecutive days (oral capsule FMT, 3597 patients), and a single injection of a bacterial solution into the colon via colonoscopy (lower gastrointestinal FMT group, 278 patients). Other treatments were discontinued during the treatment and follow-up period and administration of other medications was not recommended unless absolutely necessary. The primary outcomes were the efficacy of FMT after 3, 12 and 36 months of treatment, and improvement in chronic constipation, C. difficile infection, chronic diarrhea, inflammatory bowel disease, radiation enteritis, irritable bowel syndrome, post-surgery gastrointestinal dysfunction, and autism. Other outcomes included the occurrence of short-term (within 2 weeks after treatment) and long-term (within 36 months after treatment) adverse reactions.Results:At 3, 12 and 36 months after treatment, the overall rates of effectiveness of treatment were 71.8% (10 763/15 000), 64.4% (7600/11 808) and 58.8% (3659/6218), respectively. Specifically, the rates of clinical improvement were 70.3% (5805/8258), 62.6% (3970/6345), and 56.5% (1894/3352), respectively, for constipation; 85.8% (587/684), 72.3% (408/564), and 67.3% (218/324), respectively, for C.difficile infection; 81.0% (1401/1730), 78.1% (1198/1534), and 72.3% (633/876), respectively, for chronic diarrhea; 64.3% (328/510), 52.3% (249/476), and 46.6 % (97/208), respectively, for inflammatory bowel disease; 77.3% (334/432), 65.4% (212/324), and 53.6% (82/153), respectively, for radiculitis; 70.6% (1370/1940), 64.5% (939/1456), and 60.4% (475/786), respectively, for irritable bowel syndrome; 75.3% (275/365), 70.0% (201/287), and 63.6% (112/176), respectively, for autism; 65.3% (568/870), 54.3% (355/654), and 46.5% (114/245), respectively, for post-surgical gastrointestinal dysfunction; and 45.0% (95/211), 40.5% (68/168), and 34.7% (34/98), respectively, for neurodegenerative diseases. At 3, 12, and 36 months post-treatment, clinical improvement rates were 77.1% (8580/11 125), 67.1% (6437/9595), and 62.1% (3196/5145), respectively, in the upper gastrointestinal route group; and 57.3% (2062/3597), 53.6% (1115/2081), and 45.0% (453/1006), respectively, in the oral capsule group; and 43.5% (121/278) , 36.4% (48/132) and 14.9% (10/67), respectively, in the lower gastrointestinal route group. No serious adverse reactions occurred during treatment or follow-up. The most common adverse reactions in the upper gastrointestinal route group, oral capsule group, and lower gastrointestinal route group were respiratory discomfort (20.4%, 2269/11 125), nausea and vomiting on swallowing the capsule (7.6%, 273/3597), and diarrhea (47.5%, 132/278), respectively; these symptoms resolved at the end of treatment. At 36 months of follow-up, 19 patients reported exacerbation of symptoms of pre-existing diseases and there had been 16 deaths that were not directly related to FMT. Additionally, no systemic diseases had developed after FMT.Conclusion:FMT for the treatment of intestinal dysfunction associated with disorders of the intestinal flora and related extraintestinal diseases is effective and not associated with serious adverse events.

Objective:To explore the efficacy of adjusting the dose of imatinib dose in the context of therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) in patients with gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) who are receiving adjuvant therapy after complete resection of their tumors.Methods:This was a descriptive study. Inclusion criteria were (1) complete surgical resection with a pathological diagnosis of GIST, (2) postoperative adjuvant therapy with imatinib and dosage adjustment, (3) multiple TDM of imatinib, and (4) complete clinical, pathological, and follow-up data. The data of 70 patients with GISTs treated at Union Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology between January 2015 and December 2023 were collected retrospectively. The study cohort comprised 15 (21.4%) men and 55 (78.6%) women of median age 60 years (range: 25–82). Of the eligible patients, 49 (70.0%) were at high-risk, 14 (20.0%) at intermediate-risk, six (8.6%) at low-risk, and one (1.4%) at very low risk. Patients were followed up by the gastrointestinal stromal tumor clinic every 2–3 months and their plasma concentrations of imatinib were checked. The dose was adjusted to 300 mg/d or 200 mg/d depending on whether they had had ≥ grade III adverse reactions, and whether the first plasma concentration of imatinib was ≥ 1,500 μg/L or between the expected range of 760 μg/L–1,100 μg/L. Studied indicators included adverse reactions, quality of life before and after dose adjustment, and overall survival and recurrence-free survival (RFS) after dose adjustment.Results:Before dose adjustment, all 70 patients received 400 mg of imatinib daily, with initial TDM values of 1,900 ± 568 μg/L, for a median duration of 8.3 months. After dose adjustment, 60 patients received 300 mg daily, with a TDM of 1,216 ± 350 μg/L, whereas 10 received 200 mg daily, with a TDM of 1,023 ± 269 μg/L. The median duration of treatment after dose adjustment was 23.4 months. Compared with those whose dosages were not adjusted, the incidence of bone marrow suppression was significantly lower (74.3% [52/70] vs. 51.4% [36/70], χ 2=9.202, P=0.010); as were the incidences of edema (95.7% [67/70] vs. 50.0% [35/70], χ 2=40.526, P<0.001); skin reactions (70.0% [49/70] vs. 32.9% [23/70), χ 2=22.495, P<0.001); and gastrointestinal reactions (38.6% [27/70] vs. 10.0% [7/70], χ 2=15.899, P<0.001) in those whose dosages were adjusted. The average total scores for physical health before and after dose adjustment were 76 ± 5 and 88 ± 4, respectively; whereas the mental health scores were 75 ± 6 and 89 ± 4, respectively. The median follow-up period was 36 months (range 6–126). During the first 3 years of follow-up, five high-risk patients with non-gastric GISTs developed recurrences. The 3-year overall survival rate was 100%, and the 3-year RFS rate was 92.8%, high-risk patients having a 3-year RFS rate of 89.8%. Conclusion:The adverse reactions and quality of life of GIST patients with severe adverse reactions to adjuvant imatinib therapy after complete resection can be mitigated by appropriately reducing the dosage of imatinib under the guidance of TDM.

Aromatic compounds are a class of organic compounds with benzene ring(s). Aromatic compounds are hardly decomposed due to its stable structure and can be accumulated in the food cycle, posing a great threat to the ecological environment and human health. Bacteria have a strong catabolic ability to degrade various refractory organic contaminants (e.g., polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, PAHs). The adsorption and transportation are prerequisites for the catabolism of aromatic compounds by bacteria. While remarkable progress has been made in understanding the metabolism of aromatic compounds in bacterial degraders, the systems responsible for the uptake and transport of aromatic compounds are poorly understood. Here we summarize the effect of cell-surface hydrophobicity, biofilm formation, and bacterial chemotaxis on the bacterial adsorption of aromatic compounds. Besides, the effects of outer membrane transport systems (such as FadL family, TonB-dependent receptors, and OmpW family), and inner membrane transport systems (such as major facilitator superfamily (MFS) transporter and ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter) involved in the membrane transport of these compounds are summarized. Moreover, the mechanism of transmembrane transport is also discussed. This review may serve as a reference for the prevention and remediation of aromatic pollutants.

Persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn(PPHN)is a disease that seriously endangers the life of the newborn caused by one or more factors.The causes mainly include respiratory distress syndrome, meconium aspiration syndrome, infection, congenital diaphragmatic hernia, etc.The pathogenesis of PPHN is still not completely clear, and neurobiochemical, internal environment, genetics and other factors are currently recognized as influencing factors.In recent years, with the rapid development and wide application of genetic testing technology, more and more studies have shown that the occurrence of PPHN may be related to the polymorphism and/or mutation of some genes.This article reviews the research progress of six gene loci that may be related to PPHN in order to provide reference for clinical research.

Objective:To assess the efficacy and safety of 100 units of botulinum toxin A (BTX-A) intradetrusor injection in patients with overactive bladder.Methods:From April 2016 to December 2018, 17 tertiary hospitals were selected to participate in this prospective, multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study. Two phases of study were conducted: the primary phase and the extended phase. This study enrolled patients aged 18 to 75 years who had been inadequately managed by anticholinergic therapy (insufficient efficacy or intolerable side effects) and had spontaneous voiding with overactive bladder. Exclusion criteria included patients with severe cardiac, renal and hepatic disorders, patients with previous botulinum toxin treatment for 6 months or allergic to BTX-A, patients with urinary tract infections, patients with urinary stones, urinary tract tumors, diabetes mellitus, and bleeding tendency. Eligible patients were randomly assigned to BTX-A group and placebo control group in a ratio of 2∶1. Two groups of patients received 20 intradetrusor injections of BTX-A 100U or placebo at the depth of the submucosal muscle layer respectively under cystoscope, including 5 injections at the base of the bladder, 3 injections to the bladder triangle, 5 injections each to the left and right walls and 2 injections to the top, sparing the bladder neck. As a placebo control group, patients received same volume of placebo containing no BTX-A and only adjuvant freeze-dried preparations for injection with the same method. A combination of gelatin, sucrose, and dextran served as adjuvants. Average micturition times per 24 hours, urinary incontinence (UI) episodes per day, average micturition volume per day, OAB symptom score(OABSS), and quality of life (QOL) score were recorded at baseline and the 2nd, 6th and 12th week after treatment. The primary efficacy endpoint was the change from baseline in the average micturition times per 24 hours at the 6th week after treatment. The secondary efficacy endpoints included the change from baseline in the average micturition times per 24 hours at 2nd and 12th week, as well as the change from baseline in the OABSS, QOL score, average frequency of urgency and UI episodes per day, urgency score, average micturition volume per day at 2nd, 6th and 12th week after treatment. Patients were followed for 12 weeks to assess adverse events (AEs). After assessed at week 12, if the micturition times has decreased less than 50% compared to baseline and the patient is willing to receive retreatment, then patients could enter the extended trial phase. In that phase, patients in both groups were injected with 100 units BTX-A from 12th week onwards and then followed up the same indicators for 12 weeks.Results:216 patients were enrolled in this trial (144 cases in the BTX-A group and 72 cases in the placebo control group). Baseline characteristics such as age (47.75±14.20 in the BTX-A group and 46.39±15.55 in the control group), sex (25 male/117 female in the BTX-A group and 10/61 in the control group), and disease duration (0.51 years in the BTX-A group and 0.60 years in the control group) were balanced between the two groups( P>0.05). A marked reduction from baseline in average micturition times per 24 hours was observed in all treatment groups at the 6th week and the reduction of the two groups was statistically different ( P<0.001 and P=0.008 respectively). Compared with the baseline, the average micturition times per 24 hours at the 6th week decreased from baseline by 2.40(0.70, 4.60)times for the BTX-A group and 0.70(-1.00, 3.30) times for the placebo control group respectively, and the difference between the two groups was considered to be statistically significant ( P=0.003). The change rates of average micturition times per 24 hours from baseline at the 6th week of the two groups were (16±22)% and (8±25)% respectively, and the difference between the two groups was statistically significant ( P=0.014). Compared with the baseline, the average micturition times per 24 hours at 2nd and 12th week decreased by 2.00(0.00, 4.00)and 3.30(0.60, 5.03)for the BTX-A group, 1.00(-1.00, 3.00)and 1.70(-1.45, 3.85)for the placebo control group respectively. The difference between two groups was considered to be statistically significant ( P=0.038 and P=0.012); the changes of average urgency times per day for the BTX-A group and the control group at the 2nd, 6th and 12th week were 2.00(0.00, 4.30)and 2.40(0.30, 5.00), 3.00(0.30, 5.70)and 0.70(-1.30, 2.70), 0.70(-1.30, 3.00) and 1.35(-1.15, 3.50), respectively. There were significant differences between two groups at the 2nd, 6th and 12th week, ( P=0.010, P=0.003 and P=0.025, respectively). The OABSS of the BTX-A group and the control group at the 6th week decreased by 1.00(0.00, 4.00)and 0.50(-1.00, 2.00) compared with the baseline, and the difference between the two groups was statistically significant ( P=0.003). 47 cases of BTX-A group and 34 cases of placebo control group entered the extended trial phase, and 40 and 28 cases completed the extended trial phase, respectively. The average micturition volume per 24 hours changed by -16.60(-41.60, -0.60)ml and -6.40(-22.40, 13.30)ml, (-35.67±54.41)ml and(-1.76±48.69)ml, (-36.14±41.51)ml and (-9.28±44.59)ml, (-35.85±43.35)ml and(-10.41±40.29)ml for two groups at the 12th, 14th, 18th and 24th week, and the difference between two groups was statistically significant at each follow-up time ( P=0.01, 0.006, 0.012 and 0.016, respectively). There was no significant difference in other parameters( P>0.05). However, adverse reactions after intradetrusor injection included increased residual urine volume (27 in the BTX-A group and 3 in the control group), dysuria (21 in the BTX-A group and 6 in the control group), urinary infection (19 in the BTX-A group and 6 in the control group), bladder neck obstruction (3 in the BTX-A group and 0 in the control group), hematuria (3 in the BTX-A group and 1 in the control group), elevated alanine aminotransferase (3 in the BTX-A group and 0 in the control group), etc. During the follow-up period, there was no significant difference in the other adverse events between two groups except the increase of residual urine volume( P<0.05). In the primary trial phase, among the 27 cases with increased residual urine volume in BTA group, only 1 case (3.70%) with PVR more than 300 ml; the PVR of 3 patients in the placebo group was less than 100 ml. The increase of residual urine volume caused by the injection could be improved or disappeared with the passage of time. Conclusions:Intradetrusor injection of Chinese BTX-A improved the average micturition times per 24 hours, the average daily urgent micturition times, OABSS, and average micturition volume per time, and reduced the adverse effects in patients with overactive bladder.Chinese BTX-A at dose of 100U demonstrated durable efficacy and safety in the management of overactive bladder.

Objective: To summarize the experience of diagnosis and treatment of superior mesenteric artery compression syndrome (SMACS) secondary to chronic constipation according to the concept of Lee′s triad syndrome. Methods: The concept of Lee′s triad syndrome: (1) clinical symptoms: triad of constipation, malnutrition, upper gastrointestinal obstruction (vomiting, difficulty in eating); (2) anatomical manifestations: with triple anatomy anomaly of transverse colon sagging, elevated spleen flexure, and mesentery arterial compression; (3) treatment: with triple treatment of enteral nutrition support, chest-knee posture and fecal microbiota transplantation. A descriptive cohort study was performed. According to Lee′s triad syndrome criteria, clinical data of 78 patients with superior mesenteric artery compression syndrome secondary to chronic constipation in the Tenth People′s Hospital of Tongji University and General Hospital of Eastern Theater Command from June 2004 to November 2018 were prospectively collected, including basic information, symptoms and signs, imaging findings, nutritional indicators, gastrointestinal quality of life index (GIQLI) and Wexner defecation score. The above parameters based on Lee′s triad syndrome criteria were followed up and recorded at 1, 3, 6, 12 months after comprehensive treatment. Results: All the patients had Lee′s triple symptoms of constipation, malnutrition, upper gastrointestinal obstruction (vomiting, eating difficulties), and triple anatomy anomaly of transverse colon sagging, elevated spleen curvature, and mesentery arterial compression before treatment. After triple treatment of enteral nutrition support, chest-knee posture, and fecal microbiota transplantation, 69 (88.5%) patients had a significant improvement of symptoms, and 9 patients had no significant improvement of symptoms and then eventually received surgery. The 69 cases without operation received follow-up for 12 months. All the patients eventually returned to normal eating, and upper gastrointestinal angiography and superior mesenteric artery imaging showed duodenal compression disappeared. After 1 month, the constipation-related indexes were improved. After 12 months, the number of autonomous defecation per week increased from 1.0±0.8 to 5.0±1.6 (P<0.001). The GIQLI score increased from 52.7±8.5 to 93.2±7.5 (P<0.001), and the Wexner score decreased from 19.1±2.5 to 6.2±2.1 (P<0.001). After 1 month, nutritional indexes were improved gradually. After 12 months, the BMI increased from (17.9±1.8) kg/m² to (21.0±1.3) kg/m², total protein increased from (65.2±5.7) g/L to (68.3±4.2) g/L, albumin increased from (32.1±5.1) g/L to (40.4±3.0) g/L, prealbumin increased from (163.2±53.7) mg/L to (259.1±45.6) mg/L, fibrinogen increased from (1.9±0.5) g/L to (2.4±0.5) g/L, whose differences were statistically significant (all P<0.001). Upper gastrointestinal angiography and superior mesenteric artery imaging showed duodenal compression were relieved. The angle between superior mesenteric artery and abdominal aorta increased from (17.4±3.8)° to (37.8±5.8)° (t=-22.26, P<0.001). Conclusion When patients with SMACS secondary to chronic constipation have Lee′s triple symptoms and triple anatomy anomaly, the triple combination treatment of enteral nutrition support, chest-knee posture and fecal microbiota transplantation should be applied.

Objective:To observe the long-term efficacy and complication rate of fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) and the effects of different ways of transplantation and treatment courses on the efficacy of FMT.Methods:From April 2012 to April 2020, the data of 3 932 patients (804 cases of Nanjing General Hospital of Nanjing Military Command and 3 128 cases of Tenth People′s Hospital of Tongji University) who voluntarily received FMT treatment were prospectively collected. After the first course of transplantation, the follow-up rate and efficacy and complications in 5 years were observed at the 1st, 12th, 24th, 36th, 48th and 60th month. According to the different ways of the first transplantation, 3 932 patients were divided into nasointestinal tube group (2 604 cases), capsule group (873 cases), colonoscopy group (268 cases) and enema group (187 cases). One month after transplantation, the effective rate and complication were observed. At the same time, the 1 813 patients with FMT less than four courses were divided into 1 treatment course group (369 cases), 2 treatment courses group (568 cases), 3 treatment courses group (497 cases) and 4 treatment courses group (379 cases). The effective rates of patients in four groups with different treatment courses were observed 6 months after finishing the treatment. Chi square test was used for statistical analysis.Results:Among 3 932 patients, the follow-up rates at 1st, 12th, 24th, 36th, 48th and 60th month after the first course of FMT were 93.67%(3 683/3 932), 82.30%(2 307/2 803), 82.17%(1 825/2 221), 62.41%(978/1 567), 59.85%(559/934) and 60.84%(289/475), respectively. The total effective rates at 1st, 12th, 24th, 36th, 48th and 60th month were 67.23%(2 476/3 683), 64.20%(1 481/2 307), 59.29%(1 082/1 825), 59.71%(584/978), 55.81%(312/559) and 59.17%(171/289), respectively. During FMT period, the total incidence of different complications was 34.49%(1 356/3 932). During follow-up period, the total rate of complication was 4.22%(166/3 932). There were no serious adverse events such as gastrointestinal perforation, multi-drug resistant bacterial infection, organ failure and death. One month after FMT, the effective rates of nasojejunal tube group, capsule group, colonoscopy group, and enema group were 67.18%(1 668/2 483), 68.63%(549/800), 67.23%(158/235), 61.21%(101/165), respectively. There was no significant difference among the four groups ( P>0.05). The effective rates of patients with chronic constipation in nasal jejunal tube group, capsule group and colonoscopy group were all higher than that of enema group (67.82%, 1 043/1 538; 67.98%, 138/203 and 62.96%, 17/27 vs. 26.67%, 8/30), and the differences were statistically significant ( χ2=22.55, 19.07 and 7.60, all P<0.01). During the period of FMT, the total incidence of complications of nasojejunal tube group, capsule group, colonoscopy group and enema group were 35.22%(917/2 604), 30.24%(264/873), 42.54%(114/268) and 32.62%(61/187), respectively. The difference was statistically significant among four groups ( χ2 =18.84, P<0.01). Among nasojejunal tube group, capsule group, colonoscopy group and enema group, there were significant differences in the incidence of diarrhea (4.49%, 117/2 604; 4.58%, 40/873; 7.83%, 21/268 and 5.35%, 10/187, respectively), throat pain (5.30%, 138/2 604; 0.69%, 6/873; 2.99%, 8/268 and 1.07%, 2/187, respectively), gastrointestinal bleeding (0; 0; 1.87%, 5/268 and 0.53%, 1/187, respectively) and enterogenous infection (0; 0; 1.49%, 4/268 and 0.53%, 1/187, respectively) ( χ2 =8.24, 39.24, 63.13 and 49.68, all P<0.05). At the 6th month after treatment, the effective rates of 1 treatment course group, 2 treatment courses group, 3 treatment courses group and 4 treatment courses group were 63.94%(211/330), 61.93%(301/486), 65.75%(286/435) and 72.54%(251/346), respectively. There were statistically significant differences among groups with different treatment courses ( χ2 =10.70, P =0.01). The effective rate of the four treatment courses group was significantly higher than those of the one treatment course group, two treatment courses group and three treatment courses group, and the differences were statistically significant ( χ2=5.78, 10.18 and 4.14, all P<0.05). The effective rates of in chronic constipation and autism in 4 treatment courses group were significantly higher than those in 1 treatment course group and 2 treatment courses group (72.73%(136/187) vs.55.47%(71/128) and 58.71%(155/264), 72.73%(40/55) vs.6/15 and 47.83%(11/23)), the effective rate of autism in 3 treatment courses group was higher than that in 1 treatment course group (69.05%(29/42) vs. 6/15), and the differences were statistically significant ( χ2=10.05, 9.39, 5.60, 4.44 and 3.94, all P<0.05). Conclusions:The long-time efficacy of FMT is definite in the treatment of intestinal flora derangement related intestinal diseases and extraintestinal diseases complicated with intestinal disfunction and there are no serious adverse events. The efficacy of FMT is related to the way of transplantation and treatment. The incidence of complications of FMT is related to the way of transplantation. Different ways of transplantation and treatment courses should be formulated for different diseases.

Objective:To investigate the effect of different fecal bacterial preservation time on the efficacy and complications of FMT.Methods:A retrospective cohort study was carried out. Clinical data of 483 patients with slow transit constipation undergoing voluntary FMT at Intestinal Microecology Diagnosis and Treatment Center from August 2017 to October 2019 were retrospectively collected. According to the storage time of fecal bacterial samples used in FMT treatment, the cases were divided into fresh bacterial solution ( n=29), bacterial solution stored at -80℃ for 1 week ( n=187), 1 month ( n=121), 3 months ( n=89), 6 months ( n=38), and 12 months (n=19). The total number of complete bowel movement, Wexner constipation score, gastrointestinal quality of life index (GIQLI), FMT satisfaction score and related adverse reactions were summarized and compared among groups 1 week and 1 month after FMT treatment. Results:There were no statistically significant differences in the baseline data of patients among different bacterial solution storage time (all P>0.05). After 1 month of treatment, the overall frequency of defecation of all the patients was (3.83 ± 1.22) times/week, Wexner constipation score was (6.74 ± 3.56) points, GIQLI score was (108.76 ± 15.38) points, clinical cure rate was 57.8% (279/483). The improvement rate was 66.3% (320/483), and the treatment satisfaction was (3.85 ± 0.93) points. No severe FMT-associated complication and death were observed during treatment and follow-up period. FMT-related adverse events occurred in 115 cases (23.8%), including nausea in 25 cases (5.2%), vomiting in 13 (2.7%), diarrhea in 21 (4.3%), abdominal pain in 16 (3.3%), abdominal distension in 33 (6.8%), sore throat in 56 (11.6%) and fever in 16(3.3%), all of which relieved after symptomatic treatment. There were no statistically significant differences in the number of defecations, Wexner constipation scores, and GIQLI scores before FMT, 1 week and 1 month after FMT treatment among different bacterial solution storage groups (all P>0.05). Differences of clinical cure rate, clinical improvement rate, and treatment satisfaction of patients 1 week and 1 month after treatment were not statistically significant (all P>0.05). Among the groups, differences in the overall complications and types of complications after FMT treatment were not statistically significant (all P>0.05). Conclusions:FMT is safe and effective in the treatment of slow transit constipation. Fresh fecal bacterial samples or fecal bacterial samples frozen at -80℃ for 1 year can be safely applied to FMT for the treatment of slow transit constipation, with stable short-term efficacy and without serious adverse reactions.
