Objective:
To evaluate the efficacy of a short video based health education model in enhancing e-cigarette awareness among junior high school students, so as to provide empirical evidence for optimizing school based health education in the digital era.
Methods:
In December 2024, a cluster sampling method was applied to recruit 465 eighth grade students from a middle school in Kunming for a survey. The intervention was implemented through playing short videos produced by the research team in the classroom, and a self designed adolescent e-cigarette questionnaire was used to conduct assessments before and after intervention, along with qualitative interviews with 60 teachers and students by purposive sampling. Pre and post intervention outcomes were compared by using paired t-test and Chi-square test. Qualitative data underwent a three stage coding process of "open, axial, and selective coding" to construct an explanatory framework.
Results:
Quantitative analysis showed significant post intervention increases in both baseline awareness scores(92.1±6.6)and deep awareness scores (70.0±17.6) compared with pre intervention( 78.2± 14.0,46.1±20.5)( t =23.54,26.72,both P <0.05), both meeting the criteria for large effect sizes (Cohen s d =1.09, 1.24). The improvement in deep awareness was particularly pronounced, specifically regarding addictive ingredients, illicit additives(tiletamine,metomidate,etomidate), and misconceptions about smoking cessation efficacy ( χ 2=150.54,113.27,117.40,112.92, 69.93 , all P <0.01). Qualitative insights revealed that narrative transportation and visual enhancement were the core mechanisms of efficacy: 87.3% of students preferred contextualized narratives, 85.5% of students decoded cognitive bottlenecks more effectively because of visual enhancement, and 72.7% relied on short videos for micro learning.
Conclusion
Short video based health education can effectively enhance e-cigarette awareness among junior high school students, offering a pragmatically viable digital pathway for school based health education.

Definitive chemoradiotherapy (dCRT) has become a cornerstone in the treatment of locally advanced esophageal cancer; however, local control remains suboptimal, and persistent lesions or locoregional recurrences after treatment are not uncommon. For patients without distant metastases but with local failure, whether surgical intervention can still offer curative potential remains a major clinical dilemma. Salvage esophagectomy (SE) offers potential long-term survival for selected patients, but this procedure is performed in the context of severe fibrosis, impaired local blood supply, and obscured anatomical planes following chemoradiotherapy, resulting in significantly higher perioperative risk compared to primary esophagectomy. Consequently, controversies exist regarding patient selection, preoperative restaging, choice of surgical approach, extent of lymphadenectomy, gastrointestinal reconstruction, and perioperative management. In recent years, with the refinement of restaging modalities such as PET/CT, the accumulation of experience in high-volume centers, and emerging evidence from clinical studies, the clinical role of SE has gradually shifted from a "high-risk salvage measure" to a "selective curative strategy aimed at achieving long-term survival in carefully selected patients". Nevertheless, standardized guidelines for patient selection, technical approaches, and perioperative management are still lacking. Based on current evidence and clinical experience, experts organized by the Integrated Esophageal Cancer Committee of Chinese Anti-Cancer Association systematically reviewed key issues regarding SE, including its definition, indications, preoperative evaluation, choice of surgical approach, lymphadenectomy, gastrointestinal reconstruction, and perioperative management, and formulated a Chinese expert consensus. This consensus aims to provide guidance for standardized assessment, appropriate referral, individualized surgical decision-making, and optimized perioperative management of patients with locoregional failure after dCRT. Ultimately, this will increase the likelihood of R0 resection, reduce the risk of severe complications, and promote the safer, more judicious, and standardized implementation of SE in high-risk scenarios.
4.Meta-analysis of the safety and efficacy of transurethral blue laser vaporization of the prostate,transurethral resection of the prostate or plasmakinetic resection of the prostate in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia

Objective To compare the efficacy and safety of transurethral blue laser vaporization of the prostate, transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) or plasmakinetic resection of the prostate in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Methods The domestic and foreign clinical studies on transurethral blue laser vaporization of the prostate (observation group), TURP or plasmakinetic resection of the prostate (control group) in the treatment of BPH during Jan. 2015 and Mar. 2025 were retrieved. The data were extracted with Cochrane systematic review method. The operation time, decrease in hemoglobin, bladder irrigation time, catheter indwelling time, total complication rate, retrograde ejaculation rate and urinary incontinence rate of the two groups were compared with RevMan 5.3.0 statistical software. Results A total of 5 Chinese studies involving 491 patients (248 in the observation group and 243 in the control group) were included in the Meta-analysis. Compared with the control group, the observation group had shorter operation time [MD=-20.80, 95%CI:-26.88—-14.72, P<0.00001], less decrease in hemoglobin [MD=-10.61, 95%CI: -20.21—-1.01, P=0.03], shorter bladder irrigation time [MD=-17.85, 95%CI: -32.62—-3.09, P=0.002], shorter catheter indwelling time [MD=-1.71, 95%CI: -2.81—- 0.62, P=0.002], lower total complication rate [OR=0.11, 95%CI: 0.06—0.21, P<0.00001], lower retrograde ejaculation rate [OR=0.05, 95%CI: 0.02—0.16, P<0.00001] and lower urinary incontinence rate [OR=0.24, 95%CI: 0.07—0.79, P=0.02]. There were no significant differences in other complications between the two groups (P>0.05). The international erectile function score (IIEF-5) of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group [MD=1.87, 95%CI:1.16—2.57, P<0.00001]. There were no significant differences in international prostate symptom score (IPSS), maximum urinary flow rate (Qmax) and post-voiding residual (PVR) between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion All three surgical procedures can effectively improve the lower urinary tract symptoms of BPH patients. Compared with TURP or plasmakinetic resection of the prostate, transurethral blue laser vaporization of the prostate has obvious advantages in terms of perioperative recovery, reduction of total complications, urinary incontinence and retrograde ejaculation rates, and preservation of sexual function.
5.Influencing factors and prognosis of postoperative complications in elderly(≥75 years)patients with renal cell carcinoma after laparoscopic surgery

Objective To analyze the postoperative complications and survival outcomes of elderly patients with renal cell carcinoma undergoing laparoscopic surgery, and to identify the influencing factors, so as to provide reference for improving the safety of laparoscopic surgery in such patients. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical, surgical, and pathological data of 153 patients aged ≥75 years who underwent laparoscopic nephrectomy for renal cell carcinoma at our hospital during 2012 and 2025.Logistic regression analyses were performed to identify factors influencing postoperative complications, and a nomogram was constructed and validated to predict the complications.Kaplan-Meier method was used to draw the survival curve, and the effects of different surgical approaches on the prognosis and the survival difference in the age subgroups (75-<80 years, ≥80 years) were analyzed.Cox regression analyses were conducted to determine factors affecting survival outcomes. Results Among the 153 patients, 15 developed postoperative complications, including 5 severe cases. Multivariate logistic regression identified Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI) ≥3 and prolonged operation time as independent risk factors for postoperative complications (P<0.05).The C-index of the logistic regression model constructed based on these factors (age, CCI≥3 and operation time) was 0.77 (95%CI:0.64-0.90), with an average absolute error of 1.6%.Subgroup analysis revealed superior overall survival in patients aged 75-<80 years undergoing partial nephrectomy compared to radical nephrectomy (P=0.005 6).No statistically significant difference in overall survival was observed among patients ≥80 years who received different surgical approaches (P=0.062).Multivariate Cox regression analysis identified preoperative low albumin levels, preoperative renal insufficiency, tumor diameter>4 cm, and pathological stage as independent risk factors for overall survival (P<0.05). Conclusion Laparoscopic surgery is safe and effective for elderly patients with renal cell carcinoma, with survival outcomes correlated to nutritional status, renal function, tumor size and pathological staging.Patients aged ≥80 years still derive surgical benefit, and no survival differences exist between different surgical approaches in this age group.
6.Comparison of efficacy and safety of mizoribine and mycophenolate mofetil in kidney transplant recipients: a single-center retrospective study

Objective To compare the clinical efficacy and safety differences between the triple immunosuppressive regimen of mizoribine (MZR) or mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) combined with tacrolimus (Tac) and glucocorticoids of kidney transplant recipients in one year after transplantation. Methods A single-center retrospective cohort study design was adopted. The clinical data of 156 patients who underwent the first allogeneic kidney transplantation at the Third Hospital of Peking University from January 2022 to December 2024 were included. The patients were divided into the MZR group (78 cases) and the MMF group (78 cases) based on the initial immunosuppressive regimen after transplantation. The baseline data, medication use in one year after transplantation, blood routine indicators, adverse events and clinical outcomes were compared between the two groups. For the repeated-measurement longitudinal data, repeated-measurement analysis of variance was used to evaluate the main effects of the groups, time and their interaction effects. Results At the primary efficacy endpoint, there were no statistically significant differences in the one-year survival rate, graft survival rate and incidence of acute rejection between the two groups (all P > 0.05). In terms of medication patterns and laboratory test indicators, there were significant time main effects and "time × group" interaction effects for Tac dosage (all P < 0.05). The Tac dosage in the MZR group was lower than that in the MMF group from 2 to 3 months after transplantation, and it was higher in the MZR group than in the MMF group from 7 to 12 months and one year after transplantation. White blood cell count in the MZR group was higher at one month after transplantation, and the platelet count was higher one year after transplantation (all P < 0.05). In terms of infection, the incidence of novel coronavirus and Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia infections in the MZR group was lower (all P < 0.05). In terms of metabolic indicators, the post-transplantation uric acid level was better in the MZR group than in the MMF group, but the total cholesterol level was higher one year after transplantation (all P < 0.05). In terms of liver function, there was a brief and mild increase in transaminase in the early stage after transplantation in the MZR group. Conclusions During the one-year follow-up after transplantation, both the MZR and MMF regimens demonstrate comparable immunosuppressive efficacy and overall safety in Chinese kidney transplant recipients. The MZR regimen shows clear advantages in reducing specific infection risks, alleviating bone marrow suppression and improving uric acid metabolism, but its potential impact on blood lipids needs to be monitored. Therefore, the MZR regimen may be an effective and safe alternative immunosuppressive option for kidney transplant recipients, especially those with high infection risk, poor hematological tolerance, or comorbid hyperuricemia.
7.Expression of ST6GAL1 and DUSP26 proteins in colorectal cancer and their effects on M2 macrophage polarization and mouse xenograft tumor progression

[摘 要] 目的:探究β-半乳糖苷α2,6-唾液酸转移酶1(ST6GAL1)和双特异性磷酸酶26(DUSP26)在结直肠癌(CRC)中的表达及其对巨噬细胞极化和肿瘤进展的影响。方法:选取CRC患者126例,采用免疫组织化学染色法检测肿瘤组织和癌旁组织中ST6GAL1、DUSP26蛋白表达。采用Western blotting、免疫共沉淀、外泌体鉴定、流式细胞术、ELISA、免疫荧光等方法,分析ST6GAL1、DUSP26及其相关信号通路对CRC细胞外泌体介导的M2型巨噬细胞极化、线粒体功能和内质网应激的影响。CRISPR/Cas9和慢病毒系统构建ST6GAL1敲除(ST6GAL1-KO)和DUSP26过表达(DUSP26-OE)细胞模型,并采用小鼠肿瘤模型评估ST6GAL1-KO + DUSP26-OE联合干预对肿瘤生长、细胞增殖及凋亡的影响。结果:CRC患者肿瘤组织中ST6GAL1蛋白阳性率显著高于癌旁正常组织,而DUSP26蛋白阳性率显著低于癌旁正常组织(均P < 0.001);CRC细胞中ST6GAL1蛋白表达显著高于正常结肠上皮细胞,而DUSP26蛋白表达及p-JNK/JNK、p-c-JUN/c-JUN水平均显著低于正常结肠上皮细胞(均P < 0.05)。CRC细胞来源的外泌体显著促进M2巨噬细胞极化,并上调下游蛋白p-Syk、p-PI3K、p-AKT、线粒体功能障碍蛋白DRP1和内质网应激蛋白CHOP、GRP78蛋白表达(均P < 0.01)。DUSP26-OE组或ST6GAL1-KO组CRC细胞来源的外泌体可抑制上述效应(P < 0.05或P < 0.01)。动物实验显示,ST6GAL1-KO组和DUSP26-OE组肿瘤体积均明显小于Vector组,联合干预组抑瘤效果最为显著(均P < 0.001);联合干预组细胞增殖标志物PCNA阳性率降低,TUNEL阳性细胞显著增加(P < 0.05或P < 0.001)。ST6GAL1-KO和DUSP26-OE可显著降低小鼠肿瘤组织GRP78和DRP1阳性比例及小鼠体内M2巨噬细胞比例。结论:CRC中ST6GAL1高表达可能通过影响外泌体唾液酸化水平,参与M2型巨噬细胞极化及应激相关蛋白表达调控,DUSP26低表达可能削弱JNK相关通路对ST6GAL1表达的负向调控;两者联合干预对移植瘤生长的抑制作用更明显。
8.Confirmation and re-examination of reactive anti-TP screening in blood donors

Objective: To confirm the reactive anti-TP ELISA screening results in blood donor samples, and analyze implementaion of re-examination among reactive donors, so as to provide data support for effectively formulating re-examination strategies. Methods: Confirmation tests were performed on 331 samples (including 224 cases with dual-reagent reactivity and 107 cases with single-reagent reactivity) using treponema pallidum particle agglutination assays (TPPA). A total of 136 blood samples were collected from blood donors who have previously tested for anti-TP ELISA with single-reagent reactivity and voluntarily applied for re-examination from 2020 to 2024. Infectious disease indicators were detected in accordance with the "Technical Operating Procedures of Blood Stations (2019 Edition)". Among them, anti-TP screening was performed using ELISA reagents from two different manufacturers, and HBV/HCV/HIV nucleic acid testing was conducted using an individual donation nucleic acid testing (ID-NAT) mode. Supplementary tests (WB or TPPA) were conducted on samples with anti-TP ELISA single-reagent reactivity. A two-sided Pearson's chi-squared test or Fisher's exact test was used to evaluate the differences of the positive rates of anti-TP among different groups or reagents. Results: Among the 331 samples, the confirmed positive rate was 93.75% (210/224) for dual-reagent reactive samples, and 2.8% (3/107) for single-reagent reactive samples. The confirmed positive rates of double reagent reactive samples with different reagent combinations were 91.7% (95% CI: 85.6%-95.5%), 95.6% (95% CI: 85.2%-98.8%), 96.6% (95% CI: 86.2%-97.3%) respectively, with no statistically significant difference (χ
=1.597, P=0.463). From 2020 to 2024, 994 donors showed anti-TP ELISA single-reagent reactive results. Among them, 136 (136/994, 13.68%) donors voluntarily applied for re-examination. After the first round of re-examination, 88 (88/136, 64.71%) donors passed the re-examination, and 18 donors were permanently deffered (18/136, 13.24%). Among the permanently quarantined donors, 12 donors remained anti-TP ELISA single-reagent reactive, including 8 confirmed positive for TP-specific antobodies and 4 with indeterminate results. The remaining 6 donors converted to dual-reagent reactive. Conclusion: The dual-reagent reactive results in anti-TP ELISA has a high true positive rate, and the corresponding blood donors can be directly deffered. The majority of single-reagent reactive anti TP-ELISA results are false positives. Timely confirmation or supplementary testing allows prompt notification of evaluation results to blood donors, and reduces unnecessary follow-up examinations. This helps improve the quality of blood donor services and management efficiency, as well as prevent blood donor attrition.
9.Pollution status and health risk assessment of PM2.5-bound polycyclic hydrocarbons in Yanta District of Xi’an from 2023 to 2024

Background Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) readily adsorb onto the surface of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) and are representative components of organic pollutants in the atmosphere. PAHs are known for their significant carcinogenic, teratogenic, and mutagenic toxicity, and long-term exposure to PAHs has adverse effects on human health. Objective To investigate the concentration, composition, and pollution sources of 16 priority PAHs in PM2. 5 of Yanta District, Xi'an, and to evaluate the associated health risks. Methods PM2.5 samples were collected from March 2023 to February 2024. The concentrations of 16 PAHs (ΣPAHs) were determined by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Diagnostic ratios (DR) and positive matrix factorization (PMF) were used to identify the sources of PAHs. Pearson correlation analysis was applied to examine the relationship between PAHs concentrations and meteorological factors. Furthermore, the toxicity of individual PAHs was converted into benzo[a]-pyrene (BaP) toxicity equivalents to calculate the toxicity of total PAHs. An incremental lifetime carcinogenic risk (ILCR) model was established to evaluate the health risks of PAHs inhalation across different demographic groups. Results The average concentration of ΣPAHs in PM2.5 of Yanta District, Xi'an followed a seasonal descending order: winter (15.71 ng·m−3) > spring (5.55 ng·m−3) > autumn (4.34 ng·m−3) > summer (1.47 ng·m−3). The relative abundances of PAHs in PM2.5 varied significantly by ring number, 4-ring PAHs accounted for the largest proportion, followed by 5-ring, 3-ring and 6-ring PAHs, while 2-ring PAHs were the least abundant. This ring distribution pattern remained consistent across seasons. The contribution rates of different emission sources to ΣPAHs concentration exhibited seasonal variations. Source apportionment revealed that industrial and traffic emissions were major contributors in spring; traffic emissions dominated in summer and autumn; and coal, natural gas, and biomass combustion were the predominant sources in winter. Correlation analysis showed that ΣPAHs concentration was highly positively correlated with atmospheric pressure and negatively correlated with temperature, but not significantly correlated with precipitation, wind speed, solar radiation, and relative humidity. The ILCR model indicated significant seasonal differences (winter > spring > autumn > summer) in inhalation health risks between adults and children, primarily due to variations in inhalation rates and body weight. Adults faced higher health risks than children across all seasons. Conclusion PAHs pollution in PM2.5 of Yanta District, Xi 'an is primarily driven by traffic emissions and the combustion of coal, natural gas, and biomass. PAHs concentrations are significantly influenced by meteorological factors, particularly air pressure, and temperature. Inhalation exposure poses distinct health risks to adults in winter. To effectively reduce ΣPAHs concentrations and mitigate air pollution, emission controls on winter coal combustion should be prioritized.
10.Correlation between NOX gene single nucleotide polymorphisms and susceptibility to noise-induced hearing loss

Objective To investigate the association between single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate-oxidase (NOX) 2 and NOX4 genes and susceptibility to noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL). Methods A total of 439 noise-exposed workers were recruited using a convenience sampling method. Based on pure-tone air conduction hearing threshold tests, participants were categorized into normal hearing, mild hearing loss, and moderate hearing loss groups, with 147, 154, 138 individuals, respectively. Peripheral venous blood samples of the workers were collected for DNA extraction. Genotyping of nine SNPs loci in NOX2 and NOX4 genes was performed using multiplex polymerase chain reaction, single-base extension, and matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry. Results A total of seven of the nine SNPs loci conformed to Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium among the workers in the normal hearing group (all P>0.05). There was no significant difference in the genotype distribution or allele frequencies for these seven SNPs loci among workers in these three groups (all P>0.05). Ordinal logistic regression analysis showed that, after adjusting for confounders including age, sex, cumulative noise exposure, smoking, alcohol consumption, and earplug use, individuals carrying the GG genotype at rs200522762 had a lower risk of NIHL compared with those carrying the TT genotype under the codominant model (P<0.05). In the recessive model, individuals carrying the GG genotype at the rs200522762 locus had a lower risk than those carrying the GT+TT genotypes (P<0.05). Polymorphisms at the other six SNPs loci were not associated with NIHL risk (all P>0.05). Conclusion The NOX4 rs200522762 polymorphism is associated with susceptibility to NIHL.
