Objective:
To understand the allocation and use of safety seats for preschool children and explore its related factors, so as to provide a scientific reference for promoting the usage of safety seats.
Methods:
A stratified random cluster sampling method was used to select 3 143 parents of preschool children aged 3 to 6 from six kindergartens in Shunyi District, Beijing from January 3 to 10, 2022. An online questionnaire survey was conducted to collect and evaluate the equipment and use of child safety seats in different characteristics of preschool children, as well as their scores of health beliefs. Multiple factor Logistic regression analysis was used to investigated the related factors of safety seat configuration and use.
Results:
The equipping rate and usage rate of safety seats for preschool children were 66.56% and 58.45%, respectively. The proportion of equipped and used safety seats for preschool children in core families (69.52%, 62.23%) were higher than that in large families (64.35%, 55.62%), only child families ( 72.39 %, 64.87%) were higher than non only child families (61.49%, 52.86%), and urban families (71.63%, 63.04%) were higher than rural families (52.31%, 45.51%) ( χ 2=9.23, 13.86; 41.72, 46.44; 101.96 ,76.97,all P <0.05) . As the educational level of parents ( χ 2 trend =154.23,98.76) and annual income of the family ( χ 2 trend =155.78,127.69) rised, the reporting rates of the equipped and used child safety seats in the family also increased(all P <0.05 ). There were statistically significant differences in the scores of different dimensions of health beliefs for the provision ( t =-20.22-18.16) and use ( t =24.32-24.17) of safety seats for preschool children(all P <0.05). After adjusting for child sex, child age, family annual income, parental education level, family type, whether the child was an only child, and place of residence, multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that preschool children with higher perceived susceptibility score( OR =1.11, 1.08), higher self efficacy score( OR =1.23, 1.33), and higher suggestive factors score( OR =1.08, 1.12) were more likely to have and use safety seats in their families, while preschool children with higher perceived impairments score( OR =0.82, 0.80) were less likely to have and use safety seats in their families (all P <0.05).
Conclusions
The installation rate of child safety seats needs to be improved, and there is also a certain gap in their use after installation. Parents of preschool children should improve susceptibility and self efficacy to safety seat equipment and use, and perceptual barriers should be reduced.

Infection is an important trigger for the initiation of pancreatic islet autoimmunity in type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM). From the perspective of latent pathogen and dryness disorder, this study analyzes the core pathogenesis and dynamic evolution of T1DM in the subclinical and clinical stages. Combined with the T1DM "constraint, heat, deficiency, damage" state and target differentiation and treatment theory, the course of infection-induced T1DM is divided into three stages, including latent dryness, dry-heat and collateral damage. The "latent dryness" stage corresponds to the subclinical phase of T1DM, while the "dry-heat" stage corresponds to the clinical phase, and the "collateral damage" stage corresponds to the phase in which chronic complications develop. Treatment principles include supplementing deficiency and dispelling pathogen during the "latent dryness" stage, clearing heat and moistening dryness in the "dry-heat" stage, and dissolving stasis and unblocking collaterals in the "collateral damage" stage. Furthermore, syndrome-targeted and target-directed therapeutic modifications were made according to T1DM-related autoimmune activity, metabolic comorbidities, and vascular comorbidities, providing a reference for clinical management of T1DM.

Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2025;66(8):795-799
According to zang-fu (脏腑) wind-damp theory, it is believed that wind, cold, and dampness are internal pathogenic factors that, when stagnated, transform into heat and invade the zang-fu organs, leading to chronic conditions. Heat is seen as a manifestation, while cold is considered the root cause. When external factors trigger these latent pathogens, the disease of the zang-fu organs exacerbates or relapses, often presenting with a complex syndrome of cold and heat. Based on this theory, the viewpoint of "for complex syndrome of cold and heat, cold is the root" is proposed. It suggests that for diseases with a complex cold-heat syndrome, external invasion of wind, cold, and dampness are the initiating factors. During the acute phase, treatment should focus on dispelling and eliminating the pathogens to promote the expulsion of the latent wind, cold, and dampness. During the remission phase, the focus shifts to reinforcing the healthy qi and tonifying the root, allowing the cold and dampness to be cleared. Internal dampness originates from the spleen; therefore, regulating the spleen and stomach, and dispersing cold and removing dampness is the key to treating wind-damp disorders of zang-fu organs. Cold and dampness are both yin pathogens, which damage yang qi, and repeated invasions of wind, cold, and dampness obstruct the qi flow of the zang-fu organs, progressively weakening yang qi. Hence, it is necessary to protect yang qi, and thereafter dispelling cold and dampness by warming yang. The theory that "for complex syndrome of cold and heat, cold is the root" provides guidance for the clinical application and the treatment of complex and difficult diseases in traditional Chinese medicine.

ObjectiveTo explore the possible mechanisms of Wenyang Huazhuo Formula (温阳化浊方, WHF) in improving reproductive aging from the perspective of the ovarian mechanical microenvironment. MethodsThe experiment included five groups, 3-month group (20 female mice at 3 months of age), 6-month group (20 female mice at 6 months of age), 6-month + WHF group (20 female mice at 5 months of age treated with WHF), 9-month group (20 female mice at 9 months of age), and 9-month + WHF group (20 female mice at 8 months of age treated with WHF). The 6-month + WHF group and 9-month + WHF group were orally administered WHF 41.2 g/(kg·d) once daily for 4 consecutive weeks. The other three groups received no intervention. Reproductive hormone levels were measured by ELISA. HE staining was used to count the numbers of various stages of follicles. Ovarian hyaluronic acid (HA) content and collagen fiber content were measured to evaluate the ovarian mechanical microenvironment. Superovulation was performed to observe the number of eggs obtained, as well as the number of offspring and birth weight to assess fertility. The in vitro fertilization and blastocyst culture of oocytes from female offspring in each group were observed to evaluate the effect of WHF on offspring reproductive potential. ResultsCompared with the 3-month group, the 6-month group and 9-month group showed significantly decreased serum levels of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), and luteinizing hormone (LH), decreased ovarian collagen content, and reduced numbers of primordial and secondary follicles. In contrast, the numbers of primary follicles, antral follicles, and atretic follicles increased. The levels of anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH), ovarian HA content, and the fertilization rate, cleavage rate, and blastocyst formation rate of oocytes from offspring were significantly lower (P<0.05). Compared with the 6-month group, the 6-month + WHF group showed significantly reduced serum levels of GnRH, FSH, and LH, with a significant decrease in primary follicles, antral follicles, and atretic follicles as well as increase of AMH levels, ovarian HA content, number of primordial and secondary follicle, egg count, and offspring birth weight (P<0.05). Compared with the 9-month group, the 9-month + WHF group exhibited reduced GnRH, FSH, and collagen fiber content, as well as reduced number of primary follicles, antral follicles, and atretic follicles. However, AMH levels, ovarian HA content, number of primordial and secondary follicle, egg count, offspring numbers, birth weight, fertilization rate, cleavage rate, and blastocyst formation rate of oocytes from offspring all significantly increased (P<0.05). ConclusionWHF can significantly improve the ovarian reserve, fertility, and reproductive potential in offspring during reproductive mid-life and late-life stages. Its effect may be related to the remodeling of the mechanical microenvironment of aging ovaries. Moreover, the effect on the mechanical microenvironment remodeling of late-stage ovaries and the improvement of the offspring reproductive potential is more significant.

BACKGROUND:Dysfunction of macrophage efferocytosis can induce local and systemic inflammatory damage and is associated with a variety of obesity-related metabolic diseases. Moreover, compounds targeting efferocytosis have shown good therapeutic effects. OBJECTIVE:By reviewing the effects of obesity on macrophage efferocytosis,to analyze the key mechanism by which obesity inhibits efferocytosis,to summarize the research progress in compounds targeting efferocytosis to treat obesity-related metabolic diseases,so as to provide new ideas for fully understanding efferocytosis and its relationship with metabolic diseases, aiming to provide new strategies for disease prevention and treatment. METHODS:The English search terms were"efferocytosis,metabolism,obesity,obese,atherosclerosis,non-alcoholic steatohepatitis, neurodegeneration, tumor, osteoarthritis, diabetes, compound, medicine, treatment,"which were used for literature retrieval in PubMed and Web of Science. The Chinese search term was"efferocytosis,"which was used for literature retrieval in CNKI,VIP and WanFang datebases.Ninety-nine papers were finally included in the review analysis after a rigorous screening process. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:In the process of efferocytosis, the"Find me"and"Eat me"processes involving a large number of apoptotic cell derived factors are mainly regulated by apoptotic cells. The efferocytosis factor involved in cytoskeletal remodeling and digestion are mainly derived from macrophages, which are crucial for efferocytosis activity. These results suggest that the"Find me"and"Eat me"factors mainly reflect the condition of apoptosis, and it is more scientific to select the expression of factors involved in cytoskeletal remodeling and digestion when evaluating the efferocytosis activity of macrophages.Obesity inhibits efferocytosis, and shows an inhibitory effect on most digestive factors, but has a stress-induced activation effect on most"Find me,""Eat me"and cytoskeletal recombination factors, which further indicates the decisive effect of digestive stage on efferocytosis and suggests that it is not reliable for some studies to evaluate the efferocytosis based on the increased expression of"Find me"and"Eat me"factors.Targeting cytokines in the digestive phase may be more effective when discussing future intervention strategies targeting macrophages efferocytosis. The efferocytosis activators of macrophages are effective in the treatment of various metabolic diseases, but the efferocytosis inhibitors in tumor tissue show good anticancer effects, suggesting that the role of efferocytosis should be rationally evaluated according to the characteristics of tissue inflammation.Efferocytosis is a relatively new concept proposed in 2003,with a short research history and complex efferocytosis factors.Current studies on obesity and efferocytosis only involve a tip of the iceberg and most of them are at a superficial level and a large number of scientific experiments are needed to further validate the mechanisms.

Animal experiments are an essential component of life sciences and medical research. However, the external validity and reliability of individual animal studies are frequently challenged by inherent limitations such as small sample sizes, high design heterogeneity, and poor reproducibility, which impede the effective translation of research findings into clinical practice. Systematic reviews and meta-analysis represent a key methodology for integrating existing evidence and enhancing the robustness of conclusions. Currently, however, the application of systematic reviews and meta-analysis in the field of animal experiments lacks standardized guidelines for their conduct and reporting, resulting in inconsistent quality and, to some extent, diminishing their evidence value. To address this issue, this paper aims to systematically delineate the reporting process for systematic reviews and meta-analysis of animal experiments and to propose a set of standardized recommendations that are both scientific and practical. The article's scope encompasses the entire process, from the preliminary preparatory phase [including formulating the population, intervention, comparison and outcome (PICO) question, assessing feasibility, and protocol pre-registration] to the key writing points for each section of the main report. In the core methods section, the paper elaborates on how to implement literature searches, establish eligibility criteria, perform data extraction, and assess the risk of bias, based on the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analysis (PRISMA) statement, in conjunction with relevant guidelines and tools such as Animal Research: Reporting of in Vivo Experiments (ARRIVE) and a risk of bias assessment tool developed by the Systematic Review Centre for Laboratory Animal Experimentation (SYRCLE). For the presentation of results, strategies are proposed for clear and transparent display using flow diagrams and tables of characteristics. The discussion section places particular emphasis on how to scientifically interpret pooled effects, thoroughly analyze sources of heterogeneity, evaluate the impact of publication bias, and cautiously discuss the validity and limitations of extrapolating findings from animal studies to clinical settings. Furthermore, this paper recommends adopting the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) methodology to comprehensively grade the quality of evidence. Through a modular analysis of the entire reporting process, this paper aims to provide researchers in the field with a clear and practical guide, thereby promoting the standardized development of systematic reviews and meta-analysis of animal experiments and enhancing their application value in scientific decision-making and translational medicine.

Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2025;66(4):421-426
This paper comprehensively discusses on the potential neurobiological mechanisms of acupuncture in the treatment of tobacco dependence, focusing on three important aspects, including acupuncture's regulation of tobacco dependence behavior, effects of acupuncture on withdrawal syndrome, and the role of acupuncture in preventing relapse. It is found that acupuncture can inhibit drug-seeking behavior by regulating the reward pathway and related neurons, such as dopamine, thus modulating tobacco dependence behavior. It also alleviates withdrawal symptoms by improving the oral environment of smokers and reducing negative emotions after quitting. Furthermore, acupuncture can prevent relapse by decreasing brain network activity related to smoking cravings and improving cognitive brain functions like addiction memory. Currently, research on the specific neurobiological mechanism of acupuncture in treating tobacco dependence and the involved neural circuits is limited. Future research directions are proposed, including the evaluation of clinical effects, exploration of specific therapeutic mechanisms, investigation of brain pathology, and strengthening the exploration of brain functions. Additionally, combining modern technologies to clarify the neural circuits involved in acupuncture intervention will provide a basis for acupuncture treatment of tobacco addiction.

Objective:To construct and validate a prognostic model of colon cancer based on differentially expressed anoikis-related genes, and to preliminarily investigate the relationship between anoikis-related genes and the tumor immune microenvironment of colon cancer. Methods:A total of 472 cancer tissues samples of patients with colon cancer, RNA sequencing data and clinical data of 41 normal tissues samples were downloaded from the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database between the establishment time and July in 2024. A total of 919 genes related to anoikis were screened out from GeneCards database, and the common genes were selected from the RNA sequencing gene datasets of colon cancer and normal colon tissues in the TCGA database, among which the differentially expressed anoikis-related genes of colon cancer and normal colon tissues were screened out based on P < 0.05. Furthermore, genes related to the prognosis of 446 colon cancer patients with prognostic data in the TCGA database were screened by using univariate Cox proportional risk model; the genes with P < 0.05 were further screened out and a colon cancer prognosis model was constructed by using LASSO-Cox proportional risk model. The risk score of the above 446 colon cancer patients in the TCGA database was calculated according to the prognostic model, and the patients were divided into high-risk (≥ median value) group and low-risk (< median value) group according to the median risk score, and the overall survival of the 2 groups was analyzed by using the Kaplan-Meier method. The risk score based on R software-based time ROC program package was used to predict 1-year, 2-year, 3-year overall survival therapeutic efficacy of colon cancer patients in the TCGA database. According to the median risk score of colon cancer patients in the TCGA database, the patients in the International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC) database were divided into high-risk group and low-risk group. Kaplan-Meier method and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve were used to verify the predictive effect of the prognostic model. The differentially expressed genes between low-risk group and high-risk group stratified by prognostic model risk score in the TCGA database were used to perform single sample gene set enrichment analysis (ssGESA) of immune cells and immune function by using R software related programs. The differences in risk scores of patients with different immunophenotypes (including inflammator response type, wound healing type, interferon gamma dominant type and lymphocyte depletion type) were compared; and correlation analysis of infiltration and risk scores between immune cells and stromal cells in tumor microenvironment was made. Based on the tumor immune function and rejection (TIDE) database, the relationship between the prognostic model risk score and programmed death receptor ligand 1 (PD-L1) gene expression level was analyzed. Results:Based on anoikis-related genes in the GeneCards database, 236 differentially expressed anoikis-related genes between colon cancer tissues and normal tissues were obtained from the TCGA database. LASSO Cox regression was applied to establish a prognostic model constructed by 7 differentially expressed anoikis-related genes in cancer tissues and normal colon tissues related to the prognosis of colon cancer. Risk score = 0.366×TIMP1-0.404×NAT1+0.207×LTB4R2+0.075×INHBB+0.140×CD36-0.109×MMP3+2.994×OFCC1. The median risk score of 446 colon cancer patients in the TCGA database was 1.754 719 545. Survival analysis showed that the overall survival of colon cancer patients in high-risk group of the TCGA database was worse than that in low-risk group ( P < 0.001); ROC curve analysis showed that the area under the curve for predicting 1-year, 2-year and 3-year overall survival of patients in the TCGA database based on the prognostic model risk score was 0.705, 0.731 and 0.723, respectively. Kaplan-Meier method analysis showed that in the ICGC database, the overall survival of colon cancer patients in high-risk group was worse than that in low-risk group ( P = 0.041); ROC curve analysis showed that the area under the curve of prognostic model risk score for predicting 1-year and 2-year overall survival of colon cancer patients in the ICGC database was 0.663 and 0.966, respectively. ssGESA analysis showed that macrophage level in high-risk group was higher than that in low-risk group, helper T (Th) 1 cell and Th2 cell levels in high-risk group were lower than those in low-risk group (all P < 0.01). In terms of immune function, the cell killing activity and histocompatibility complex Ⅰ level in high-risk group were lower than those in low-risk group, and type Ⅱ interferon response score in high-risk group was higher than that in low-risk group (all P < 0.05). The analysis of immunophenotype showed that the risk score of inflammatory response type was higher than that of wound healing type ( P < 0.05), and there was no statistically significant difference in risk score between the other 2 types (all P > 0.05). Risk score was positively correlated with stromal cell infiltration score ( R = 0.340, P < 0.001) and immune cell infiltration score ( R = 0.148, P < 0.05); the expression level of PD-L1 in high-risk group was higher than that in low-risk group in the TCGA database ( P = 0.048), and the expression level of PD-L1 was positively correlated with risk score ( R = 0.130, P = 0.009). Conclusions:A prognostic model of colon cancer constructed by anoikis-related genes can better predict the prognosis of colon cancer patients, and anoikis-related genes may play an important role in tumor immunity of colon cancer.
