Objective To investigate the distribution characteristics of Oncomelania hupensis snails in Yunnan Province fol-lowing interruption of schistosomiasis transmission, so as to provide the evidence for assessing the risk of schistosomiasis transmission and scientifically formulating the schistosomiasis surveillance program. Methods According to the requirements of the National Schistosomiasis Surveillance Scheme (2020 Edition), O. hupensis snail surveillance data were collected from 18 schistosomiasis-endemic counties (cities, districts) in Yunnan Province from 2020 to 2024, including area of snail survey, area of snail habitats, area of re-emerging snail habitats, number of frames surveyed, number of frames with O. hupensis snails, number of O. hupensis snails captured, and number of living snails, and the occurrence of frames with snails and mean density of living snails were calculated. Changes in snail status over the 5-year period from 2020 to 2024 and the differences in snail distributions specified by epidemic intensity, environmental type, and vegetation type were analyzed. Results The areas of snail survey increased from 1 727.96 hm² in 2020 to 3 894.45 hm² in 2024 (peak) across 18 schistosomiasis-endemic counties (cities, districts) in Yunnan Province during the period from 2020 through 2024. The areas of snail habitats increased from 70.36 hm² in 2020 to a peak in 2023 (172.04 hm²), followed by a reduction to 132.36 hm² in 2024, and the areas of re-emerging snail habitats increased from 42.71 hm² in 2020 to a peak in 2022 (78.43 hm²), followed by a reduction to 40.21 hm² in 2024. The occurrence of frames with snails and mean density of living snails increased from 1.24% (3 025/244 404) and (0.033 2 ± 0.038 7) snails/0.1 m² in 2020 to peaks at 2.03% (6 231/307 563) and (0.066 9 ± 0.068 4) snails/0.1 m² in 2023, followed by reductions to 1.04% (5 829/559 941) and (0.032 6 ± 0.057 7) snails/0.1 m² in 2024, respectively. There was a significant difference in the occurrence of frames with snails over the 5-year study period (χ² = 1 962.95, P < 0.05), and the occurrence of frames with snails reduced by 48.71% in 2024 relative to in 2023 (χ² = 1 411.05, P < 0.005); however, there was no significant difference in the mean density of living snails over the 5 years (H = 5.310, P > 0.05). There were significant differences in the occurrence of frames with snails (χ² = 481.27, P < 0.05) and mean density of living snails (H = 6.872, P < 0.05) in schistosomiasis-endemic areas with different epidemic intensities. The occurrence of frames with snails (χ² = 25.32 and 38.70, both P values < 0.017) and mean density of living snails (Z = 28.55 and 49.96, both P values < 0.017) were higher in schistosomiasis transmission-interrupted and eliminated areas with snails than in schistosomiasis-eliminated areas without snails, and the occurrence of frames with snails (χ² = 453.54, P < 0.017) and mean density of living snails (Z = −56.97, P < 0.017) were higher in schistosomiasis-eliminated areas with snails than in schistosomiasis transmission-interrupted areas with snails. O. hupensis snails were mainly distributed in paddy fields, dry farmlands and ditches; however, the occurrence of frames with snails (13.40%, 424/3 164) and mean density of living snails [(0.252 8 ± 0.158 7) snails/0.1 m²] were higher in ponds/weirs than in other types of environments (both P values < 0.05). Rice, dry farmland crops and weeds were main vegetations in which O. hupensis snails were distributed, and the occurrence of frames with snails (2.29%, 7 111/310 140) and mean density of living snails [(0.072 3 ± 0.018 9) snails/0.1 m²] were higher in weeds than in other types of environments (both P values < 0.05). Conclusions O. hupensis snails have been effectively controlled in Yunnan Province following implementation of integrated schistosomiasis control measures; however, there are still risk factors for schistosomiasis transmission, including reduced attention to schistosomiasis control and snail re-emergence. Improved control efforts and surveillance system construction and timely identification of risk factors of snail status and timely management are recommended to ensure the achievement of the target of schistosomiasis elimination as scheduled.

Objective: To explore the association between maternal lipid levels during pregnancy and the risk of overweight and obesity in offspring at 3 years of age, providing scientific evidences for the prevention and control of childhood obesity. Methods: A total of 2 432 mother-child pairs with maternal lipid tests during pregnancy and offspring s physical growth data at 3 years of age were included from the Borin in Guangzhou Cohort Study up to September 2021. Lipid indicators, including high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C), triglycerides (TG), and total cholesterol (TC), were measured at 13-19 +6 weeks (mid pregnancy) and 32-39 +6 weeks (late pregnancy). Children s body mass index (BMI) Z score were calculated according to the World Health Organization s growth standards for children under 5 years old. The lipid Z score were divided into four quartiles: Q 1, Q 2, Q 3 and Q 4. Linear regression was used to analyze the relationship between maternal lipid levels during pregnancy and offspring’s BMI Z score at 3 years of age. Poisson regression with a robust error variance was employed to evaluate the association between maternal lipid levels during pregnancy and the at risk of overweight and obesity in offspring at 3 years of age, after adjusting for maternal age at conception, education level, parity, pre pregnancy BMI and gestational diabetes mellitus. Results: There was a statistically significnt difference in the detection rate of overweight and obesity risk among children with different mothers s pre pregnancy BMI ( χ 2=22.85, P <0.05). Linear regression analysis showed that TG levels in late pregnancy were positively related to BMI Z score ( β=0.10, 95%CI=0.02-0.18, P <0.05). Poisson regression with a robust error variance indicated that, compared with the Q 1 group of TC, the Q 4 group of TC in mid pregnancy was associated with an increased risk of overweight and obesity in offspring at 3 years of age ( RR=1.59, 95%CI =1.04-2.44); compared with the Q 1 group of TG, the Q 4 group of TG during late pregnancy increased the risk of overweight and obesity in offspring at 3 years of age ( RR=1.79, 95%CI =1.02-3.12) (both P <0.05). Conclusions Maternal serum TC level during mid pregnancy can increase the risk of overweight and obesity in offspring at 3 years of age. Maternal serum TG levels during late pregnancy is positively correlated with BMI and the risk of overweight and obesity in offspring at 3 years of age.

Objective: To analyze the association between poor sleep characteristics and the coexistence of negative emotions and overweight/obesity among college students, so as to provide a scientific basis for improving their physical and mental health. Methods: From November to December 2023, a convenience sampling method was used to survey 6 600 college students from nine universities in Jiangxi, Hunan, and Hubei provinces. The Depression Anxiety and Stress Scale-21 (DASS-21), Insomnia Severity Index (ISI), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), and physical examinations were employed to assess negative emotions, poor sleep characteristics, and overweight/obesity. Chi square test and Logistic regression were used to analyze the impact of poor sleep characteristics on the coexistence of negative emotions and overweight/obesity. Results: The coexistence rates of different categories of negative emotions (depression, anxiety, stress) and overweight/obesity were 6.1% ( n= 405), 8.0% ( n =529), and 3.3% ( n =217), respectively. Gender, grade level, major, maternal education level, annual family income, physical activity level, only child status, and carbonated beverage consumption were statistically associated with the coexistence rates of different categories of negative emotions and overweight/obesity ( χ 2=4.01-35.18, all P <0.05). Logistic regression analysis showed that after adjusting for gender, grade level, major, only child status, maternal education level, annual family income, physical activity level, and carbonated beverage consumption, poor sleep characteristics were significantly associated with an increased risk of the coexistence of negative emotions and overweight/obesity ( OR =1.41-6.65); moderate and poor sleep quality levels were significantly associated with an increased risk of the coexistence of different categories of negative emotions and overweight/obesity among female students ( OR =1.99-4.71) (all P <0.05). Conclusions Poor sleep characteristics are associated with the coexistence of negative emotions and overweight/obesity among college students. Greater attention should be paid to sleep issues in this population, and sleep education should be actively promoted to reduce the risk of comorbid negative emotions and overweight/obesity.

Objective: To analyze epidemiological trends and changing characteristics of syphilis among students in Yunnan Province from 2005 to 2023, so as to provide evidence for the comprehensive prevention and control of syphilis in schools. Methods: The case data of syphilis among students in Yunnan Province from 2005 to 2023 were obtained from the China Information System for Disease Control and Prevention. The Joinpoint regression model was used to conduct a time trend analysis of the reported incidence rate of syphilis. Results: From 2005 to 2023, a cumulative total of 3 191 cases of syphilis were reported in schools in Yunnan Province(1 248 male cases and 1 943 female cases). The reported incidence rate rose continuously from 0.17/100 000 in 2005 to 8.26/100 000 in 2023, with an average annual percent change (AAPC) of 24.89%( Z =13.18, P <0.01). The reported incidence rate was higher in female students than in male students ( χ 2=229.48, P <0.05). The incidence rates in the primary school, junior high school, senior high school and higher education were 0.21/100 000, 2.42/100 000, 4.45/100 000 and 6.29/100 000 respectively, and the difference was statistically significant (χ 2=3 432.84, P <0.05). The average annual growth rate was the highest in the junior high school stage(AAPC= 30.68% , Z =7.57, P <0.05),followed by the senior high school stage (AAPC=24.28%, Z = 5.70 , P <0.05).The reported incidence rate of primary and secondary syphilis increased from 0.12/100 000 in 2005 to 2.06/ 100 000 in 2023, with an AAPC of 16.86% ( Z = 4.57, P <0.05). Conclusions The overall reported incidence rate of syphilis among students in schools in Yunnan Province shows a sustained upward trend, with the most rapid annual increase observed in junior high schools. Schools should prioritize syphilis education and expand awareness campaigns to curb transmission.

Objective To analyze the characteristic influencing factors for enlarged perivascular spaces(EPVS)in different regions of acute ischemic stroke(AIS)patients and explore their un-derlying pathogenesis.Methods A total of 172 AIS patients admitted to our department from September 2020 to September 2023 were consecutively enrolled.According to the distribution of EPVS,they were divided into basal ganglia EPVS group(n=103)and non-basal ganglia EPVS group(n=69),as well as centrum semiovale EPVS group(n=77)and non-centrum semiovale EPVS group(n=95).General information,NIHSS score at onset,TOAST classification,fasting blood glucose,liver function,coagulation function,and homocysteine(Hcy)level were collected in all the patients.Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to identify independent influen-cing factors for EPVS in different regions.Results The basal ganglia EPVS group had significant-ly advanced age and larger proportion of hypertension than the non-basal ganglia EPVS group,while the centrum semiovale EPVS group had smaller proportion of hyperhomocysteinemia,and larger ratios of smoking and alcohol consumption,higher alanine aminotransferase(ALT)level,and longer thrombin time than the non-centrum semiovale EPVS group(P＜0.05,P＜0.01).Mul-tivariate logistic regression analysis showed that hypertension(OR=2.093,95％CI:1.045-4.192,P=0.037)and age(OR=1.071,95％CI:1.016-1.130,P=0.011)were independent influ-encing factors for basal ganglia EPVS,while alcohol consumption(OR=2.418,95％CI:1.097-5.330,P=0.029)and thrombin time(OR=1.593,95％CI:1.129-2.249,P=0.008)were inde-pendent influencing factors for centrum semiovale EPVS.Conclusion EPVS in different regions of AIS patients are associated with distinct risk factors.Age and hypertension are primary influen-cing factors for basal ganglia EPVS,while alcohol consumption and prolonged thrombin time are significant factors for centrum semiovale EPVS.

The study was a prospective observational study. A total of 24 patients who underwent maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) at Haidian Hospital in Beijing from May 2024 to June 2024 were included as the study subjects. The safety and efficacy of a new single-needle dialysis in MHD patients were evaluated. The reasons for using single-needle dialysis included waiting for the maturity of internal fistula(7 cases, 29.17%), autogenous arteriovenous fistula thrombosis occurred (6 cases, 25.00%), puncture difficulty occurred (7 cases, 29.17%), and pain sensitivity or elderly (4 cases, 16.67%). The results showed that the average blood flow was (155.65±5.90) ml/min, total blood volume was (35.92±2.65) L during single-needle dialysis. One patient had slight puncture leakage, and the puncture success rate was 95.83%. Relevant indicators of dialysis adequacy showed that the average urea clearance (Kt/V) was 0.90±0.42, urea reduction ratio was 58.31%±7.93%, and online real-time Kt/V monitoring average value was 0.98±0.55. The results suggest that the application of the new improved single-needle dialysis mode in MHD patients is safe and effective.

Objective:By analyzing the concentration distribution and hydrophilic/hydrophobic proportion differences of 15 bile acid subtypes in the serum of patients with hepatitis B virus（HBV）infection complicated with liver cirrhosis and primary biliary cholangitis（PBC）complicated with liver cirrhosis，this study aims to explore the potential associations between bile acid metabolism and these diseases，providing a reference basis for identifying disease-specific metabolic fingerprints in the diagnosis，treatment，and prognosis of liver diseases. Furthermore，building on the pharmacological mechanisms of ursodeoxycholic acid（UDCA）in the treatment of PBC，this research investigates potential therapeutic applications of bile acid drugs in HBV infection.Methods:A retrospective analysis method was adopted. We enrolled 27 HBV infection complicated with liver cirrhosis patients and 59 PBC complicated with liver cirrhosis patients who received outpatient or inpatient treatment at the Fifth Medical Center of PLA General Hospital from November 2024 to April 2025. The general data and routine clinical laboratory data of the two groups of patients were collected and analyzed. Using the ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-triple quadrupole tandem mass spectrometry（UHPLC-QqQ-MS/MS）platform，precise quantification and differential analysis of 15 bile acid subtypes were performed in serum samples. Partial least squares discriminant analysis（PLS-DA）was employed to perform discriminant analysis on serum bile acid profiles data between the two groups，and variable importance in projection（VIP）values were calculated to identify key bile acid subtypes that could differentiate the two diseases. Box plots were constructed to analyze proportion differences in serum hydrophilic and hydrophobic bile acids between the two groups，aiming to explore potential associations between bile acid metabolism and the diseases.Results:The HBV infection group and the PBC group exhibited similar impairment of routine liver function parameters. The HBV infection group had higher serum concentrations of cholic acid（CA），chenodeoxycholic acid（CDCA）and deoxycholic acid（DCA），but lower concentrations of UDCA，glycoursodeoxycholic acid（GUDCA）and tauroursodeoxycholic acid（TUDCA）. The score plot generated by the PLS-DA model demonstrated significant differences in bile acid profile characteristics between the two diseases，with VIP values for UDCA，CDCA，GUDCA，TUDCA，and DCA all greater than 1. Box plots demonstrated a higher proportion of hydrophobic bile acids in the bile acid profile of the HBV infection group compared to the PBC group.Conclusion:This study found significant differences in serum bile acid profile characteristics between patients with HBV infection complicated with liver cirrhosis and those with PBC complicated with liver cirrhosis，specific bile acid subtypes such as CDCA and DCA have the potential to become specific metabolic fingerprints for these two diseases. HBV infection group exhibited higher proportion of hydrophobic bile acids in their bile acid profiles compared to PBC group. The characteristic changes in bile acid profiles can reflect the pathological characteristics of liver diseases，and their differences in hydrophilic/hydrophobic bile acids proportion represents a novel dimension independent of traditional liver function indicators，with potential value for disease prognosis assessment. UDCA or its derivatives may hold therapeutic potential for HBV infection patients with liver cirrhosis who exhibit accumulation of hydrophobic bile acids.

Objective:To summarize the clinical characteristics of focal cerebral arteriopathy (FCA) in children, and to analyze its influencing factor of prognosis.Methods:A retrospective cohort study was conducted. Clinical data from 40 children with FCA who were hospitalized at the Department of Neurology, Beijing Children′s Hospital, Capital Medical University, from September 2015 to August 2024 were collected. A centralized follow-up was conducted in October 2024 via outpatient clinics or the internet. The pediatric stroke outcome measure (PSOM) was used to evaluate their outcomes. Based on the PSOM, the children were further divided into a group with normal neurological function and another group with abnormal neurological function. Differences between groups were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U test and Fisher exact test. Univariate Logistic regression analysis was performed to identify the influencing factors for neurological outcomes in children with FCA. Results:A total of 40 children were included, with 20 males and 20 females, and the onset age of 9.2 (6.8, 12.5) years. Among them, 12 cases (30%) had a history of varicella within 1 year before onset. There were 23 cases (58%) presenting with transient ischemic attack (TIA) or recurrent fluctuating symptoms of onset, while 3 cases (8%) developed progressive stroke within the first month of onset. The M1 segment of the middle cerebral artery was the most commonly affected vascular site, with a total of 16 cases (40%). Arterial occlusion occurred in 8 cases (20%). Lumbar puncture was completed in 36 children, and white blood cell counts in cerebrospinal fluid was increased in 6 cases. All 23 patients who completed magnetic resonance vessel wall imaging (VWI) showed circular enhancement of the arterial wall. A total of 28 patients (70%) received antiplatelet or anticoagulation therapy, and 16 patients (40%) received hormone therapy. At admission, the pediatric National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (PedNIHSS) score was 6.0 (2.0, 8.8) points, which decreased to 0.5 (0, 3.0) points at discharge. The follow-up duration was 1.6 (0.8, 4.9) years, with 1 case lost to follow-up. There was 1 case presenting with recurrence course manifesting as TIA. Among the 39 cases who completed the follow-up, 23 cases (59%) were assessed as neurologically normal by PSOM, while 16 cases (41%) were assessed as neurologically abnormal. Among the 29 cases who completed the imaging review, magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) review in 23 cases indicated stability or improvement in the original arterial stenosis, with 6 cases experiencing transient worsening of arterial stenosis early in the disease course (within 2 months), which later improved. Arterial stenosis progression occurred in 6 cases at the final review of 29 cases who completed the imaging review, with 1 case developing progressive cerebral arteriopathy. The proportion of patients with headache, altered consciousness, and aphasia in the abnormal neurological function group, as well as the PedNISS scores at admission and discharge, were all higher than those in the normal neurological function group (all P<0.05). Univariate Logistic regression analysis revealed that only a PedNISS score>6 points at onset was an influencing factor for abnormal neurological function ( OR=20.58, 95% CI 3.93-107.70, P<0.001). Conclusions:Childhood FCA often presents with fluctuating onset, and the proximal segment of the middle cerebral artery is frequently affected. Progression of arterial stenosis is common within 2 months of the disease course, but clinical progression and new ischemic lesions are uncommon. Most patients have a favorable long-term prognosis. PedNIHSS score>6 points at admission is related to abnormal neurological function outcomes.

Objective:To assess the effect of joint exposure to multiple air pollutants on sleep structure in patients with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), identify key air pollutants, and analyze potential influencing factors.Methods:In this panel study, 92 stable COPD patients were recruited. From March 2021 to September 2023 in Beijing, all participants completed 254 nights of sleep monitoring. The total sleep duration, light sleep duration, deep sleep duration and rapid eye movement sleep duration and their respective proportions in total sleep duration were recorded. The exposure levels of fine particulate matter (PM 2.5), inhalable particulate matter (PM 10), nitrogen dioxide (NO 2), ozone (O 3), sulfur dioxide (SO 2), and carbon monoxide (CO) were estimated based on the infiltration factor method and time-activity logs of participants. To assess the lag effect of air pollutants, moving average concentrations of air pollutants from 0-1 day to 0-3 months were calculated. The linear mixed-effect model and Bayesian kernel machine regression (BKMR) model were used to assess the single and joint effects of air pollutants on sleep structure parameters in COPD patients, respectively. Results:All six types of air pollutants were associated with changes in sleep structure, manifesting as an increase in total sleep duration and light sleep proportion and a reduction in deep sleep proportion. The effects of O 3 were strongest at lag 0-6 days, while other air pollutants were at lag 0-3 months. Joint exposure to multiple air pollutants exerted significant joint effects on sleep structure, and NO 2 was identified as the dominant pollutant. NO 2 had a posterior inclusion probability (PIP) greater than 0.5 for light sleep proportion (PIP=0.691) and deep sleep proportion (PIP=0.957). With an interquartile range (IQR) increase of 8.6 μg/m 3 in NO 2 at lag 0-3 months, the light sleep proportion increased by 10.5% (95% CI: 2.2%-19.4%), and the deep sleep proportion decreased by 19.5% (95% CI:-30.6%- -6.8%). Conclusion:Joint exposure to air pollutants is associated with changes in sleep structure in stable COPD patients, and NO 2 may be a key pollutant.

Cytoglobin(Cygb)is a recently discov-ered astrocyte specific globin that is widely distrib-uted in mammalian visceral organs such as the lung,heart,spleen,liver,pancreas,stomach,small intestine,kidney,neuron,and bone tissue.It plays an important role in clearing reactive oxygen spe-cies,nitric oxide and nitrite signal transduction,al-leviating oxidative stress,anti-fibrosis,regulation of cell apoptosis and treatment of cancer,etc.It is worth noting that the anti-fibrosis role of Cygb has attracted increasing attention in recent years.The existing research has involved various fibrotic dis-eases such as the liver,pancreas,kidney,spleen,etc.,especially in the study of liver fibrosis,which has made great progress.This article system re-views the role of Cygb in various fibrotic diseases,with a focus on its mechanism of alleviating oxida-tive stress.Although the application of Cygb in fi-brotic diseases is still in its infancy and the underly-ing mechanisms still require extensive research and exploration,there is no doubt that Cygb can serve as a promising therapeutic target,with the poten-tial to be widely used in the prevention and treat-ment of fibrotic diseases.
