The Qa-1 in mice is homologous to human leukocyte antigen E(HLA-E), and both of them belong to the non-classical major histocompatibility complex I b(MHC-I b) molecules. Qa-1 is capable of presenting self or exogenous antigen peptides to interact with two distinct receptors, namely T cell receptor (TCR) and natural killer cell group 2 member A (or C) (NKG2A/C), thus playing an important role in immune response and regulation. Qa-1-restricted regulatory CD8⁺ T cell (CD8⁺ Treg) is one of the most studied CD8⁺ Treg subgroups, which can maintain immune homeostasis and autoimmune tolerance by exerting immunosuppressive effects. Consequently, Qa-1-restricted CD8⁺Treg cells are closely associated with the occurrence and development of various clinical diseases, such as tumors, infections, autoimmune diseases, and transplant rejections. This paper provides a comprehensive review of the phenotypic characteristics, functional effects, regulatory mechanisms of Qa-1-restricted CD8⁺ Treg cells, as well as the latest research progresses of Qa-1-restricted CD8⁺ Treg cells involved in the pathogenesis of infectious diseases.

Objective To investigate the differences of X-ray findings of skeletal fluorosis between coal-burning type endemic fluo-rosis and industrial fluorosis.Methods The patients were randomly selected as research objects including 60 cases of coal-burning type endemic osteofluorosis and 60 cases of industrial osteofluorosis.The X-ray findings on the left forearm,crus and pelvic radio-graphs of these patients were analyzed retrospectively to find out the differences between skeletal fluorosis of coal-burning type endemic fluorosis and industrial fluorosis.Results X-ray features are no significant statistical differences between coal-burning type endemic fluorosis and industrial fluorosis,except these of interosseous membrane ossification of forearm and crus (forearmχ2=10.909,P<0.05;crusχ2=8.547,P<0.05),obturator membrane ossification of pelvis (χ2=36.554,P<0.05),periosteal proliferation outside bone of crus (χ2=4.937,P<0.05),and ossification of soleus (χ2=4.904,P<0.05).Conclusion The X-ray signs of endemic osteofluorosis and industrial skeletal fluorosis are almost similar,but there are some differences between them.

Objective:To investigate the expression of Survivin and programmed cell death 5(PDCD5)protein in mucoepidermoid carcinoma(MEC).Methods:Survivin and PDCD5 were detected by immunohistochemical staining in 20 cases of normal parotid tis-sue(group A),40 cases of pleomorphic adenoma(group B)and 45 cases of MEC tissues(group C).Results:The positive expres-sion ratio of Survivin in group A,B and C was 10.0%,27.5% and 55.6% respectively(χ2 =14.556,P <0.01),while that of PD-CD5 was 85%,65% and 33.3% respectively (χ2 =17.439,P <0.01).The expression of survivin or PDCD5 was related with dif-ferentiation,lymph node metastasis and TNM staging of MEC.Survivin and PDCD5 showed a negative correlation in MEC(χ2 =4.500,P =0.034,γs =-0.316).Conclusion:Survivin over-expression and PDCD5 down-expression may play a role in the de-velopment and progress of mucoepidermoid carcinoma.

Objective:To investigate the expression and correlation of Bcl-2 and Bax in the parotid gland after leading duct ligation in rats. Methods:Atrophy of the right parotid was induced by ligating the right main duct of 72 rats. Immunohistochemical labelling was performed to study the expression of Bcl-2 and Bax 1, 3, 5, 7, 14, 21, 30, 60, 90, 150 and 180 days after duct ligation. Results:7 d after duct ligation most acinar cells disappeared. The distribution of Bcl-2 and Bax protein in normal parotid was in cytoplasm with unifo-maity. Bcl-2 and bax higher expression was identified in the gland at all time points. The expression of Bcl-2 protein was significantly in-creased and reached the peak at 21 d after duct ligation. More Bax-positive acinar cells on day 3 were observed, then the expression of Bcl-2 and Bax protein was descended. Higher Bcl-2/Bax ratio was identified at 1-21 d, then descended. Conclusion:The expression of Bcl-2 and Bax is associated with the atophy of the parotid glad after rat parotid duct ligation.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the changes in the number and distribution of myoepithelial cells during atrophy of the rat parotid gland.

METHODSAtrophy of the right parotid was induced by ligating the right stensen duct of rats, histological changes of parotid glands were examined by hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining during each step of glandular atrophy at the time of 0 (control), 1, 3, 5, 7, 14, 21, 30, 60, 100, and 150 days after ligation. Immunohistochemical labelling was performed to study the changes in number and distribution of myoepithelial cells during atrophy of the rat parotid gland.

RESULTSHistological analysis showed disappearance of the acini at 5 d and gradual decrease and fibrosis of the glandular lobules accompanied by the occurrence of duct-like structures. Quantitative analysis of myoepithelial cells showed significant increase in number up to day 5 after ligation, then followed by gradual increases at a low level, at last it was followed by a rapid decrease after the total number reached the peak in 100 days. In addition, the acini and intercalated ducts were covered by myoepithelial cells ranged from the shape of spindle to stellate during the early phase of atrophy, while spindle-shaped myoepithelial cells were located at the periphery of duct-like structures in the later phase of atrophy.

CONCLUSIONMyoepithelial cells proliferated rapidly up to day 5 after ligation, then followed by gradual increase at a low level, at last it was followed by a rapid decrease after the total number reached the peak in 100 days.

To establish a method for radioligand binding assay of thyroid hormone receptors(TR)in human osteoblast-like osteosarcoma cell line MG-63 and to estimate the kinetic parameters of putative receptors. The MG-63cell was cultured in Ham's F12, the soluble TR was prepared from the intact nuclear extracts. The binding properties between TR and T3 were performed by using the traditional Scatchard analysis. The apparent Ka of TR in MG-63 is 7.68× 109 L/mol, and MBC(111. 25+ 10.77)fmol/mg protein. The study indicated that MG-63 cells possessed high affinity and limited-capacity of TR in its nuclear extracts. This may serve as the starting and basic work about TR in bone cell.

Objective To examine the expression of thyroid hormone receptor isoforms (TR α1, α2, β1, and β2) in human osteoblast-like cell line MG-63 at the mRNA level and the effect of thyroid hormone (T3 or T4 ) on the expression. Methods Realtime quantitative PCR was performed. Results The expression of TRα1 mRNA was the highest, that was 10. 70± 0.45, TRβ1 was 5.75 ± 0. 10, TRβ2 was 3.34 ± 0. 08, and TRα2 was very low, only (3.66 ±0. 59) × 10-2. Only the expression of TRαl and TRα2 mRNA was down regulated significantly by the treatment of 10-10 ～ 10-6 mol/L T3, and there was a negative correlation between the expression of TRα1 or TRα2 mRNA and the concentration of T3. Conclusion TRα1 plays a primary role in mediating the effects of thyroid hormones in skeletal development.

Objective To explore the relationships between the quantitative parameters for contrastenhanced ultrasonography(CEUS) in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and arteries in neoangiogenesis.Methods One hundred and fifteen HCCs in CEUS were analyzed off-line with dynamic vascular curve of ImageArena and immunohistochemical stained in the tissue slices.Parameters including maximum of intensity(IMAX),rise time(RT),time to peak(TTP),mean trasit time corresponding to the center of gravity(mTT) ,rise slope(RS) and washout time(WT) were analyzed by statistics.Unpaired arteries(UAs)of 82 HCC cases were succesfully stained.Results The number of UAs had moderate correlation with RT (r = - 0.446),TTP (r = - 0.432) and RS (r = 0.431) (P ＜ 0.05),and it had mild correlation with IMAX (r = 0.303) ,WT (r = 0.285) (P ＜0.05).Conclusions Neoangiogenesis is a functional adaptation to altered vascular dynamics.Quantitative parameters of CEUS,reflecting hemodynamics of tumors,are correlated with UAs.
