Chinese Journal of School Health 2025;46(2):172-176
Objective:
To explore the association between mediterranean diet (MD) patterns and dental caries among children and adolescents with neurodevelopmental disorders (NDD), so as to provide a basis for developing scientific anti caries strategies related to diet.
Methods:
From December 2021 to June 2024, a questionnaire survey, a three day 24 hour dietary review survey, oral health examination, physical development measurement and Childhood Autism Rating Scale (CARS) evaluation were conducted involving 147 children and adolescents aged 2-22 years with NDD from nine special education schools and rehabilitation institutions in Tianjin. Group comparisons were carried out using the Mann-Whitney U test, Chi-square test, or Fisher s exact probability method. The correlation between dietary quality and dental caries was analyzed by adopting multiple linear regression analysis and restricted cubic spline.
Results:
There were 46 children and adolescents (31.3%) in the non dental caries group and 101 children and adolescents (68.7%) in the dental caries group. The number of decayed missing and filled teeth (dmft) was 2.0 (4.0), and the MD score was 4.0 (2.0) points. There were 62 children and adolescents (42.2%) in the low MD scores group and 85 children and adolescents (57.8%) in the high MD scores group. There was no significant difference in MD scores between NDD children in the non dental caries group and those in the dental caries group [nondental caries group:4.0(2.0), dental caries group:4.0(2.0), Z= -0.14, P >0.05]. The MD scores and dmft exhibited increasing and then decreasing trend ( P total =0.02, P non lineary = 0.04 ). Children and adolescents with NDD in the MD high scores group had a lower number of dmft than those in the MD low scores group ( β= -2.00 , 95%CI =-3.39 to -0.62, P <0.05). However, in children and adolescents with NDD and CARS scores ≥30, the above association was insignificant ( β=-0.63, 95%CI=-0.29-0.15, P >0.05).
Conclusion
Children and adolescents with NDD who have dietary patterns similar to the Mediterranean diet, are found to have fewer dental caries, and this is observed among those with no or mild symptoms of autism spectrum disorder.

Journal of Public Health and Preventive Medicine 2025;36(1):32-36
Objective To explore the effects of air pressure, humidity, wind, and sunshine on the incidence of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases (CVD) in Guiyang, and to provide reference for the prevention of CVD. Methods Using CVD incidence data from September 2021 to August 2022 in Guiyang City and meteorological data including average air pressure, average humidity, wind, and sunshine during the same period, the effects of meteorological factors on CVD incidence were explored and the importance of each factor was analyzed. Results When air pressure was below 868 hPa, above 887 hPa, or between 877 and 883 hPa, and when air pressure dropped less than 5.3 hPa within 24 hours, there was a higher risk of CVD. When the humidity was above 81%, the wind speed was small (<1.2 m/s) or high (>4m/s), and there was less sunlight (less than 3 hours), the risk of CVD was higher. Low humidity (<60%) was not conducive to the onset of CVD. There were highest risks at lag 5~10 days and 4-25 days for high pressure and low sunlight, respectively. When the relative humidity was saturated, there was an immediate effect. When the wind speed was low and high, the immediate effect and hysteresis effects were significant. Among the above meteorological factors, the impact of 24-hour variation of pressure and high or low atmospheric pressure on the incidence of CVD was the most significant, while the impact of sunlight and humidity was the weakest. The impact of diurnal variations in wind and atmospheric pressure was not clear. Conclusion The impact of air pressure on the incidence of CVD does not exhibit a simple linear relationship. The risk of CVD is high in high humidity, low light, and moderate or strong winds. It is necessary to fully consider changes in meteorological factors for CVD prevention and control.

Objective:To explore the experience of elderly patients with diabetes after the first use of real-time continuous glucose monitoring (rt-CGM) through qualitative research. Methods:From January to December 2022, 20 elderly patients with diabetes who received rt-CGM in Beijing Friendship Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University were selected as the research object with objective sampling. Semi-structured, personalized, one-to-one in-depth interviews were used to collect data. The qualitative research content analysis method was used to summarize interview data, extract and explain the theme. Results:In this interview, a total of five themes were obtained. There were two themes before continuous glucose monitoring, namely high recognition of rt-CGM by patients and the expectation of understanding blood glucose fluctuations, which was the main purpose for patients to receive rt-CGM. After continuous glucose monitoring, there were three themes, namely, the negative emotions caused by abnormal blood glucose alarms during rt-CGM, disagreements among patients regarding the calibration method of measuring finger blood glucose four times a day during rt-CGM, and patients questioning the accuracy of rt-CGM data. Conclusions:Elderly patients with diabetes are willing to receive rt-CGM, but there are still many misunderstandings. Medical and nursing staff should develop targeted nursing strategies from various aspects such as improving patients ' psychological state, enhancing patients ' correct understanding of treatment, and strengthening standardized training for nurses, so as to increase patients ' treatment compliance and effectively control blood glucose.

Objective:To explore the role and mechanisms of action of human circular RNA 0001400 (hsa_circ_0001400) and its linear transcript RELL1 in the development of Kaposi's sarcoma (KS) .Methods:KS-associated herpesvirus (KSHV) was induced and extracted from BCBL-1 cells by phorbol ester. Human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) were then infected with KSHV, inverted microscopy and real-time fluorescence-based quantitative PCR (qRT-PCR) were performed to observe cellular morphology and determine the expression of KSHV lytic gene ORF50 and latent gene LANA, respectively, so as to verify whether the infection was successful. HUVECs in the logarithmic growth phase were divided into 3 groups: HUVEC group (uninfected HUVECs), KSHV + HUVEC group (HUVECs infected with KSHV at a multiplicity of infection [MOI] of 0.5), and mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) inhibitor group (HUVECs infected with KSHV at a MOI of 0.5 for 6 hours, followed by the treatment with 1 μmol/L MAPK inhibitor). Cell counting kit (CCK8) assay and flow cytometry were performed to assess the cellular proliferative ability and detect apoptosis in the above 3 groups, respectively. qRT-PCR and Western blot analysis were conducted to determine the transcription and protein expression levels of hsa_circ_0001400, its linear transcript RELL1, and rat sarcoma viral oncogene homolog (RAS) /MAPK signaling pathway-related genes in the HUVEC group and KSHV + HUVEC group. Five pairs of KS tissues and paraneoplastic tissues were collected, and mRNA expression of the above genes was verified by qRT-PCR in the KS tissue samples. Statistical analyses were performed using two-way analysis of variance, one-way analysis of variance, and t test. Results:Compared with the uninfected HUVECs, the infected HUVECs became rounder and grew more densely at 48 hours after the infection with KSHV. The mRNA expression of ORF50 and LANA genes could be detected in the KSHV-infected HUVECs, and their mRNA expression levels were significantly higher than those in the uninfected HUVECs (both P < 0.001), indicating successful infection of HUVEC by KSHV. The cellular proliferative rate in the KSHV + HUVEC group gradually increased over time during 24 to 72 hours after the infection, while that in the MAPK inhibitor group was markedly inhibited. The total apoptosis rate at 48 hours significantly differed among the 3 groups ( F = 673.98, P < 0.001), and was significantly higher in the MAPK inhibitor group than in the KSHV + HUVEC group and the HUVEC group (both P < 0.001), while there was no significant difference between the KSHV + HUVEC group and the HUVEC group ( P > 0.05). qRT-PCR showed that the mRNA expression of hsa_circ_0001400, RELL1, Kirsten rat sarcoma viral oncogene homologue (KRAS), MAPK11, and extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) -2 was significantly higher in the KSHV + HUVEC group than in the HUVEC group (all P < 0.05), while ERK1 mRNA expression did not significantly differ between the 2 groups ( t = 0.92, P = 0.410). Western blot assay showed that the protein expression of RELL1, KRAS, MAPK11, ERK1, and ERK2 was significantly higher in the KSHV + HUVEC group than in the HUVEC group (all P < 0.01). The mRNA expression of RELL1, ERK1, and ERK2 was significantly higher in the KS tissues than in the paraneoplastic tissues (all P < 0.05) . Conclusion:KSHV infection may regulate the occurrence and development of KS by inducing the expression of hsa_circ_0001400 and its linear transcript RELL1, as well as activating the MAPK signaling pathway.
