OBJECTIVE To analyze the characteristics of pediatric medicines with priority review and approval for marketing in China， providing a reference for promoting enterprise R&D and production， as well as improving the supply guarantee mechanism for pediatric medicines. METHODS Based on publicly available data sources such as List of Approved Information for Pediatric Medications Subject to Priority Review and Approval， Pharnexcloud biomedical database， and National Medical Insurance Drug Directory， this study conducted a comprehensive analysis of the main characteristics of pediatric medicines with priority review and approval for marketing. RESULTS As of June 30， 2024， a total of 68 pediatric medicines had been approved through the priority review and approval process， covering 12 therapeutic areas， with oral dosage forms accounting for 64.71%. The median time from application to inclusion in priority review was 35.50 days， with an average of 41.69 days. The median time from inclusion in priority review to market approval was 1.24 years， with an average of 1.42 years. This included 12 domestic new medicines， 21 domestic generic medicines， 35 imported medicines， as well as 29 pediatric-specific medicines and 21 orphan medicines. Additionally， 31 of these medicines had been included in the medical insurance catalog， representing a proportion of 45.59%. CONCLUSIONS Currently， a trend of differentiated competition is emerging between domestic and imported pediatric medicines. The therapeutic areas for pediatric medicines are continuously expanding， and the dosage forms are becoming more tailored to children’s needs. However， there are still issues such as slow progress in new medicine development， insufficient stability in the medicine review and approval process， and a need to increase the proportion of medicines included in medical insurance.

In combination with the characteristics of CHF from traditional Chinese medicine （TCM） and Western medicine perspectives， the models were weighted， and their clinical consistency was evaluated. The advantages and disadvantages of the models were assessed. Among them， models with higher TCM clinical consistency included the doxorubicin-induced model， the isoproterenol-induced model， and the left anterior descending coronary artery ligation model， each with a TCM consistency rate of 90%. The animal model established by the left anterior descending coronary artery ligation showed a high degree of clinical consistency with Western medicine， with a consistency rate of 82%. Each model exhibited its own advantages and disadvantages， with a general lack of modeling methods combining diseases and syndromes of TCM and Western medicine. At present， the inducement factors used for animal models are relatively singular， mainly reflecting the etiology and pathogenesis of Western medicine， with insufficient correlation to the pathogenesis of TCM. The characteristics of TCM syndromes are not fully represented， and the consistency between TCM and Western medicine is generally not high. TCM has the advantage of a multi-dimensional syndrome differentiation and treatment approach. It is necessary to integrate the characteristics of diseases and syndromes of TCM and Western medicine， adopt multi-factor modeling methods to reflect the pathological process of CHF， improve existing models， and establish animal models of CHF that better align with the characteristics of clinical diseases and syndromes of TCM and Western medicine， so as to provide a reliable reference for clinical prevention and treatment.

Background: Despite the fact that an increasing number of studies have focused on developing therapies for acute lung injury, managing acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) remains a challenge in intensive care medicine.Whether the pathology of animal models with acute lung injury in prior studies differed from clinical symptoms of ARDS, resulting in questionable management for human ARDS. To evaluate precisely the therapeutic effect of trans‑ planted stem cells or medications on acute lung injury, we developed an animal model of severe ARDS with lower lung function, capable of keeping the experimental animals survive with consistent reproducibility. Establishing this animal model could help develop the treatment of ARDS with higher efficiency. Results: In this approach, we intratracheally delivered bleomycin (BLM, 5 mg/rat) into rats’ left trachea via a needle connected with polyethylene tube, and simultaneously rotated the rats to the left side by 60 degrees. Within sevendays after the injury, we found that arterial blood oxygen saturation ­(SpO2 ) significantly decreased to 83.7%, partial pressure of arterial oxygen ­(PaO2 ) markedly reduced to 65.3 mmHg, partial pressure of arterial carbon dioxide ­(PaCO2 )amplified to 49.2 mmHg, and the respiratory rate increased over time. Morphologically, the surface of the left lung appeared uneven on Day 1, the alveoli of the left lung disappeared on Day 2, and the left lung shrank on Day 7. A his‑ tological examination revealed that considerable cell infiltration began on Day 1 and lasted until Day 7, with a larger area of cell infiltration. Serum levels of IL-5, IL-6, IFN-γ, MCP-1, MIP-2, G-CSF, and TNF-α substantially rose on Day 7. Conclusions This modified approach for BLM-induced lung injury provided a severe, stable, and one-sided (left-lobe) ARDS animal model with consistent reproducibility. The physiological symptoms observed in this severe ARDS animal model are entirely consistent with the characteristics of clinical ARDS. The establishment of this ARDS animal model could help develop treatment for ARDS.

Methods: Hematological parameters were measured using a DxH 900 hematology analyzer (Beckman Coulter, USA) on 328 peripheral blood samples from 124 men and 204 women aged 19–93 years. Results: The RIs for white blood cells, red blood cells (RBCs), Hb, Hct, mean corpuscular hemoglobin, mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration, monocyte percentage, and neutrophil, eosinophil, lympho­cyte, and monocyte counts differed significantly by sex (P<0.05). Mean corpuscular volume was significantly positively associated with age, whereas RBC and platelet counts were significantly negatively correlated with age in both men and women. Age-based analysis revealed significant shifts in the RBC parameters beginning at 60 years of age in men and 70 years of age in women. The MDW did not show significant differences according to sex or age. Conclusions This study supports the use of sex-specific RIs and highlights the importance of considering age when interpreting results regarding hematological parameters in clinical practice.

The concept of "qi deficiency with stagnation" refers to a pathological state characterized by the depletion of primordial qi， impaired qi transformation， and the development of internal stagnation. Under the cyclic chemotherapy regimen in oncology， chemotherapy-induced myelosuppression follows a progressive pathological course from qi deficiency to increasing stagnation. This sequential evolution from mild to severe myelosuppression closely aligns with the dynamic syndrome differentiation and treatment framework of "qi deficiency with stagnation". "Qi deficiency" reflects the gradual depletion of qi， blood， and essence， while "stagnation" refers to the accumulation of phlegm， turbid dampness， and blood stasis. These two components interact reciprocally， forming a vicious cycle where deficiency leads to stagnation， and stagnation further damages the healthy qi. In the early stage of mild myelosuppression， chemotoxicity begins to accumulate in the bone marrow， leading to qi consumption， blood deficiency， yin injury， and the gradual formation of turbid phlegm and damp stagnation. In the advanced stage of severe myelosuppression， the accumulation of toxicity causes qi sinking， exhaustion of essence， and marrow depletion， along with blood stasis obstructing the collaterals. Treatment strategies should be based on syndrome differentiation， with an emphasis on assessing the severity of the condition， balancing deficiency and excess， and achieving both symptomatic relief and root cause resolution.
