Objective:To investigate the value of central vein sign (CVS) and iron deposition on quantitative susceptibility imaging (QSM) of 3.0 T MRI in differentiating multiple sclerosis (MS) from neuromyelitis optica spectrum disease (NMOSD).Methods:This study was a retrospective study. A total of 54 MS patients and 49 NMOSD patients were enrolled from July 2018 to December 2020 in People′s Hospital of Leshan and the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University. All patients underwent conventional MRI and three-dimensional enhanced T 2*-weighted angiography (3D-ESWAN), and ESWAN-filtered phase and QSM were reconstructed from 3D-ESWAN data. First, brain lesions of MS and NMOSD were screened on proton density (PD)-T 2WI, and then the location of lesions, CVS and nodular/annular iron deposition were observed on phase and QSM images. The χ 2 test was used to compare the differences in intracranial lesion location, CVS and iron deposition between MS and NMOSD patients. Receiver operating characteristic curve and area under the curve (AUC) were used to assess the efficiency of CVS and QSM iron deposition to differentiate MS from NMOSD. Results:A total of 968 MS lesions were observed in 54 MS patients, of which CVSs were found in 354 lesions and 227 CVSs were located around the lateral ventricles, 117 in deep white matter (DWM) and 10 in the cortex/subcortex; 372 lesions showed nodular iron deposition, and 193 lesions ring iron deposition on QSM. Totally 247 brain lesions were observed in 41 of 48 patients with NMOSD, of which CVSs were found in 4 lesions and 1 located around the lateral ventricle, 3 located in the DWM; 3 lesions showed nodular iron deposition on QSM. There were significant differences in cortex/subcortex lesions, CVS and iron deposition between MS and NMOSD patients (χ 2 were 29.33, 115.66 and 258.21, respectively, all P<0.001). The AUC of CVS for differentiating MS from NMOSD was 0.941 (95%CI 0.887-0.994), with a sensitivity of 96.3% and a specificity of 91.8%; the AUC of iron deposition for differentiating MS from NMOSD was 0.969 (95%CI 0.930-1.000), with a sensitivity of 100% and a specificity of 93.9%. Conclusion:CVS and iron deposition on 3.0 T MRI are distinct radiologic features of MS lesions from those of NMOSD lesions, and have certain value in the differential diagnosis.

OBJECTIVE:
To study the reliability and validity of the Chinese Eating Assessment Tool (EAT-10) in evaluation of acute stroke patients with dysphagia.
METHODS:
The inpatients of stroke were assessed with Chinese EAT-10. As a golden standard for evaluation of dysphagia, videofluoroscopic swallow study (VFSS) test was used to judge the reliability and validity of EAT-10.
RESULTS:
A total of 130 qualified questionnaires were collected. The Cronbach's alpha coefficient for Chinese EAT-10 scale was 0.845. The total score of each item was related. The lowest or highest correlation coefficient for the item 2 or 3 was 0.271 or 0.772. The retest reliability was greater than 0.7, which met the requirements. According to the investigator consistency reliability test, the value collected from the investigator in the item 2 kept constant. The consistent correlation coefficient of the remaining nine items was more than 0.7. The consistency between each item and the mean score was high. The EAT-10 with the cut-off point at 1 was an optimal cut-off point. With the cut-off value of 1 (EAT-10 score ≥ 1), the sensitivity and specificity for EAT-10 was 77.9% and 66.1%, respectively. The positive predictive value (PPV) and negative value (NPV) was 71.6% and 73.2%, respectively, with 2.30 LHR+ and 0.33 LHR- for dysphagia.
CONCLUSION
The Chinese EAT-10 has a good reliability and validity in evaluation of the acute stroke patients with dysphagia. The sensitivity and negative value are the best with the cut-off value of 1 (EAT-10 score ≥ 1). It offers a good way to discriminate dysphagia, impaired efficacy, penetrations, and aspirations in acute stroke patients.

Chinese Journal of Medical Imaging 2015;(10):725-729
PurposeSpinal cord is one of the most frequently involved sites of multiple sclerosis (MS), which seriously affects the life quality of patients. In this paper, we investigate the application value of voxel-based morphology (VBM) and resting-state magnetic resonance imaging (RS-fMRI) in multiple sclerosis patients with single spinal cord involvement (MS-SSCI).Materials and Methods Three-dimensional T1WI data and RS-fMRI data were acquired from 20 patients with MS-SSCI and 20 normal controls, grey matter volume (GMV), changes of white matter volume (WMV), total intracranial volume (TIV) and local nuclei volume were compared between the two groups using VBM, posterior cingulate cortex (PCC) was regarded as the seed point and the functional connectivity about whole brain was compared between the two groups by using resting-state functional connectivity analysis, the relationships between MS-SSCI structure, function change parameters and expanded disability states scale (EDSS) scores were further explored.Results①Compared with the control group, GMV, WMV, TIV of MS-SSCI group were not significantly reduced, only the volume of some regions (bilateral middle temporal gyrus, left inferior temporal gyrus) showed significant atrophy (P<0.01); MS-SSCI exhibited increased functional connectivity (FC) in the left medial prefrontal cortex, left inferior temporal gyrus, left caudate nucleus and right supplementary motor area (two-sample t test, after AlphaSim correction,P<0.01, voxel size >40).②There was no significant correlation (P>0.05) between MS-SSCI structure change parameters and EDSS; while a significant correlation between EDSS scores and FC was noted in the left inferior temporal gyrus (r=0.633,P<0.05).Conclusion Both structural abnormalities and altered FC with PCC can be detected in MS-SSCI, but only functional parameters are associated with clinical abnormalities, which are more sensitive than microstructural changes.

Cordyceps sinensis is an expensive and tonic-valuable famous herb in China. Due to a narrow growing distribution, a low parasitic rate and a harsh living environmental condition, its wild recourse is not abundant. In re-cent years, with the improvement of living standards, people’s awareness of health care has increased strongly. That is because of people’s over-excavation need;and the natural resources are becoming increasing scarcity. In order to meet the demand for Cordyceps, domestic researchers conducted vigorous studies. Since 1987, four or five cul-tured Cordyceps species have been developed, namely fermented Cordyceps sinensis. Through subsequent unceasing research, they were put into a lot of production, bringing a certain benefits for income and society. Currently, there are four commercial brands on the market. They are Bailing, Jinshuibao, Xinganbao and Ningxinbao. This paper summarized the studies of its chemical compositions and clinical applications on fermented Cordyceps militaris in the recent five years. It will let scholars understand its value of the cultured Cordyceps militaris more comprehen-sively and supply more information for scholars in its further research.
