Purpose To investigate the correlation between tumor budding in penile squamous cell carcinoma(SCC)and its clinicopathological features. Methods Clinical data and pathological slides from 69 cases of penile SCC were collected.Tumor budding was examined microscopically, and statistical analyses were performed to assess the relationship between tumor budding and various clinicopathological features. Results Among the 69 cases of pe-nile SCC,41 cases exhibited low-grade tumor budding and 28 cases displayed high-grade tumor budding.Tumor bud-ding was significantly correlated with tumor size, urethral invasion, invasion of the urethral corpus spongiosum,inva-sion of the penile corpus cavernosum, tumor necrosis, nerve invasion, vascular tumor thrombus, and pathological T stage(all P<0.05).In contrast,no significant association was found between tumor budding and HPV-related versus non-HPV-related penile SCC(P>0.05).Log-rank survival analysis indicated that patients with high-grade tumor bud-ding had a significantly lower survival rate compared to those with low-grade tumor budding(P<0.05).Conclusion Tumor budding is a distinct pathological feature of penile SCC,and high-grade tumor budding is associated with a more aggressive biological behavior.

The lab module of exploratory experiment is newly designed in the practical course of bio-chemistry.Here we describe one of the experimental projects, and it originates from new scientific re-search results on the dynamic structure of ATP synthase. This exploratory experiment is organized in the form of real scientific research, which would fully mobilize the initiative and creativity of students in learning theoretical knowledge and experimental technology.Students work in groups and start with refer-ence reading.Through cooperation, they must develop certain experimental plan, handle samples with photocrosslinking technique and utilize the high-throughput electrophoresis method to analyze the dynamic structural change of ε subunit in ATP synthase under different physiological conditions.High quality re-sults from high-throughput electrophoresis can only be obtained through optimized operation and treat-ment,from which students would experience the process of technological innovation. The teaching process of this lab module embodies the student-centered teaching concept and is widely approved and supported by students. The project of ATP synthase closely combines the content of lab course with cut-ting-edge technology.Students can deeply experience the importance of experimental technology innova-tion in solving scientific problems. The practical ability of students would be comprehensively improved through this lab module.

Objective:Near-infrared(NIR)spectroscopy technology faces the problem of insufficient model generalization due to individual differences in non-invasive blood glucose testing,in order to solve this problem,to improve data utilization, and to build predictive models with stronger generalization ability, this study introduces a transfer learning method to study the NIR spectroscopy non-invasive glucose testing. Methods:Migration learning is a machine learning technique that aims to improve task performance in the target domain by transferring knowledge from the source domain to the target domain. In this study,we used community population data as the source domain and student population data as the target domain to improve the performance of the noninvasive glucose detection model on the target domain. In order to verify the effectiveness of migration learning, this study compares the performance of the model before and after migration learning. Results:the model's performance on the noninvasive glucose detection task is significantly improved by the migration learning strategy, and the MAPE and MAE of the migrated model decreases by 52.5460%and 6.0805%,respectively,and the RMSE and MSE decreases by 10.7215%and 12.1135%.Conclusions:This study demonstrates the promising application of transfer learning in the field of non-invasive blood glucose detection, which is expected to realize portable and continuous blood glucose monitoring in the future by migrating the features that are difficult to access in the source domain but are related to blood glucose values to the target domain, which will greatly improve the quality of life of diabetic patients.Advances in noninvasive glucose testing technology will not only reduce patients' pain, but also provide a more convenient means of glucose monitoring, which will provide strong support for diabetes management.

Protein as the allergens could lead to allergy. In addition, a widespread class of allergens were known as glycans of N-glycoprotein. N-glycoprotein contained oligosaccharide linked by covalent bonds with protein. Recently, studies implicated that allergy was associated with glycans of heterologous N-glycoprotein found in food, inhalants, insect toxins, etc. The N-glycan structure of N-glycoprotein allergen has exerted an influence on the binding between allergens and IgE, while the recognition and presentation of allergens by antigen-presenting cells (APCs) were also affected. Some researches showed thatN-glycan structure of allergen was remodeled by N-glycosidase, such as cFase I, gpcXylase, as binding of allergen and IgE partly decreased. Thus, allergic problems caused by N-glycoproteins could potentially be solved by modifying or altering the structure ofN-glycoprotein allergens, addressing the root of the issue. Mechanism of N-glycans associated allergy could also be elaborated through glycosylation enzymes, alterations of host glycosylation. This article hopes to provide a separate insight for glycoimmunology perspective, and an alternative strategy for clinical prevention or therapy of allergic diseases.

Chronic kidney disease(CKD)commonly used dietary assessments including 24-hour dietary recall(24 h DR)/3-day dietary recall(3DDR),food frequency questionnaire(FFQ),dietary records, and estimation of dietary protein intake based on nitrogen balance.Given the high prevalence of CKD patients in Asian population and the scarcity of research using FFQ method,it is crucial to develop an FFQ suitable for Chinese CKD patients. This review summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of dietary assessment methods for CKD,the current research status, and the content and steps involved in establishing an FFQ,with the aim of providing reference for the modification of FFQ for Chinese CKD patients.
