Background Work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) are a major occupational health concern, particularly among workers exposed to adverse ergonomic conditions. Manganese production involves heavy physical demands, yet research on WMSDs among manganese workers remains limited. Objective To investigate the prevalence and influencing factors of WMSDs among manganese workers in a manganese enterprise in Guangxi. Methods A cross-sectional survey was conducted from May to June 2024 on workers at a manganese factory in Guangxi. The Chinese Musculoskeletal Disorders Questionnaire was used to collect information on demographic characteristics, distribution of musculoskeletal symptoms, and work-related exposures. χ2 test was applied to compare differences in positive WMSDs rates across groups, and logistic regression analysis was performed to identify associated factors. Results A total of 1476 workers were enrolled in the study after pre-determined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The overall prevalence of WMSDs was 34.15%. The most commonly affected body regions were the lower back (17.28%), neck (16.67%), and shoulders (13.82%). The results of logistic regression analysis indicated that female, older age, and education level of college or above were associated with a higher risk of WMSDs (P<0.05). Awkward working postures were significantly associated with WMSDs in corresponding body regions; in particular, awkward postures of the neck, upper limbs, trunk, and lower limbs were related to an increased risk of WMSDs in multiple body sites (P<0.05). In addition, poor lighting conditions, high workplace temperature, frequent or sustained arm support during work, and high job demands were associated with an increased risk of overall or site-specific WMSDs (P<0.05). Conclusion The high prevalence of WMSDs among manganese workers is closely associated with demographic characteristics, working postures, and work environment and organizational factors. Targeted ergonomic interventions focusing on high-risk body regions and key ergonomic exposures are warranted to reduce the risk of WMSDs among manganese workers.

Acta Universitatis Medicinalis Anhui 2025;60(9):1712-1718,1729
Objective:
To investigate the regulatory effect of corticosterone(CORT) pretreatment on the activation of microglia by lipopolysaccharide(LPS) and the inhibitory effect of Biochanin A(Bio A) on microglia activation.
Methods:
The MTT method was used to select the optimal concentrations for LPS,CORT and Bio A on BV2 cells;BV2 cells were divided into 5 groups: Control group,CORT(50 nmol/L) group,LPS(1 μg/mL) group,LPS(1μg/mL) + CORT(50 nmol/L) group, and LPS(1 μg/mL) + CORT(50 nmol/L) + Bio A(5 μmol/L) group;Except for the control group, each group was first incubated with CORT(50 nmol/L) for 2 h,and then each group was co-incubated with the corresponding concentrations of LPS(1 μg/mL) and Bio A(5 μmol/L) for 36 h;DCFH-DA probe method was used to detect reactive oxygen species(ROS) content; Western blot was used to detect the protein expression levels of inflammatory cytokines,5-hydroxytryptamine(5-HTT),glucocorticoid receptor(GR),mineralocorticoid receptor(MR),NOD-like receptor family pyrin domain containing 3(NLRP3),apoptosis-associated speck-like protein containing a CARD(ASC) and cysteine-aspartic protease 1(Caspase-1).
Results:
Compared with the CORT(50 nmol/L) and LPS(1 μg/mL) groups,cells in the CORT(50 nmol/L) + LPS(1 μg/mL) group showed increased cell viability,higher levels of ROS,and increased levels of inflammatory cytokines,NLRP3,ASC,and Caspase-1 protein expression( P<0. 05 ) .
Conclusion
A low dose of CORT pretreatment reinforces LPS- induced BV2 cell activation; Bio A inhibits CORT-pretreated LPS-induced BV2 cell activation. The mechanism of which may be related to the inhibition of NLRP3 inflammasome activation.

Objective:To explore the effects of Baduanjin and brisk walking on the sleep quality among fe-male college students. Methods:Ninety female college students with poor sleep quality[Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI)≥ 8]were recruited randomly assigned to Baduanjin, brisk walking, and control groups, with 30 par-ticipants in each. The Baduanjin and brisk walking groups participated in 10-week intervention(five 45-minute ses-sions per week),while the control group did not receive any intervention.Baseline and post-intervention assessments were conducted using the PSQI,a lung capacity test, echocardiography, and the Fatigue Scale(FS-14).Results:Af-ter 10 weeks, participants in both the Baduanjin and brisk walking groups got significantly lower PSQI and FS-14 total scores compared to baseline(Ps<0.001).Cardiopulmonary function indicators, including stroke volume(SV),forced expiratory volume in one second(FEV1.0),the vital capacity-to-body mass index(VC/W),and maximum voluntary ventilation per minute(MVV),also significantly improved(Ps<0.001).Furthermore,the Baduanjin group had significantly lower PSQI and FS-14 scores than both the brisk walking and control groups(P<0.001),along with superior improvements in cardiopulmonary function(P<0.001).Conclusion:This study in-dicates that Baduanjin is particularly effective in improving sleep quality, cardiopulmonary function, and reducing fatigue among female college students, showing advantages over brisk walking.

Objective:To evaluate the effect of esketamine on caspase-11-mediated non-canonical pathway pyroptosis in sepsis-induced acute lung injury in rats. Methods:Eighteen SPF healthy Sprague-Dawley rats, aged 8-12 weeks, weighing 280-320 g, were divided into 3 groups ( n=6 each) using a random number table method: sham operation group (Sham group), cecal ligation and puncture (CLP) group and CLP+ esketamine group (CLP+ ES group). Sepsis was induced by CLP in anesthetized animals. Esketamine 10 mg/kg was injected via the tail vein immediately after development of the model, and the equal volume of normal saline was injected via the tail vein in the other two groups. At 24 h after development of the model, the rats were sacrificed under anesthesia, and the lung tissues and blood samples were taken. The wet to dry lung weight ratio (W/D ratio) was calculated, and the pathological changes were observed and the lung injury was scored. The expression of caspase-11, gasdermin D-N (GSDMD-N), phosphorylated phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (p-PI3K) and phosphorylated protein kinase B (p-AKT) was detected by Western blot. The expression of caspase-11 and GSDMD-N mRNA was detected by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. The serum concentration of interleukin-1β (IL-1β) was determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Results:Compared with Sham group, the lung injury score and W/D ratio were significantly increased, the expression of caspase-11 and GSDMD-N protein and mRNA was up-regulated, the expression of p-PI3K and p-AKT was down-regulated, and the concentration of IL-1β was increased in CLP group ( P<0.05). Compared with CLP group, the lung injury score and W/D ratio were significantly decreased, the expression of caspase-11 and GSDMD-N protein and mRNA was down-regulated, the expression of p-PI3K and p-AKT was up-regulated, and the concentration of IL-1β was decreased in CLP+ ES group ( P<0.05). Conclusions:The mechanism by which esketamine alleviates sepsis-induced acute lung injury may be related to the inhibition of caspase-11-mediated non-canonical pathway pyroptosis in rats.
