Objective Radiation-induced brain injury (RIBI) is a common complication of radiotherapy for the head and neck tumors, and the current treatment methods are limited. Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS), as a non-invasive neural regulation technique, has shown great potential in neuroprotection. However, the parameter selection and biological safety of rTMS in the prevention and treatment of RIBI have not been reported. Methods Using a mouse model of RIBI, this study employed three rTMS frequencies (5, 10, and 25 Hz) for intervention. Biochemical and pathological assays were conducted to identify the optimal stimulation parameter. Subsequently, this parameter was used to evaluate the biological safety in normal mice. Results Under the conditions of this experiment, rTMS interventions with all three frequencies could reduce the levels of serum brain injury markers (NSE and S100B) and inflammatory factors in mice (P < 0.001), and alleviate the morphological and structural damage of hippocampal tissue. The 10 Hz rTMS could significantly promote hippocampal neurogenesis in RIBI mice (P < 0.05). Furthermore, 10 Hz rTMS showed no significant effects on the cognitive function and mood of normal mice. The intervention did not significantly change the morphology and structure of the main organs, blood biochemical indicators, and the level of hippocampal neurogenesis in mice. Conclusion The 10 Hz rTMS is optimal for the prevention and treatment of RIBI with high biological safety.

Aging is characterized by a gradual deterioration of the physiological integrity of cells, tissues, and or-gans,resulting in a decrease in the body's physiological functions and an acceleration of the onset of age-related diseases, ultimately leading to death. The aging of the liver, which is a critical metabolic organ,is closely linked to various chronic liver diseases, such as hepatitis, liver fibrosis, and cirrhosis, and it ex-acerbates their prognosis and is a primary risk factor for their development at all stages. Therefore,a comprehensive understanding of the causes, mechanisms, and potential therapeutic targets associated with liver aging holds significant clinical importance for delaying or potentially reversing liver aging and for treating chronic liver diseases.Stem cells, which are potential anti-aging agents, present a promising and effective alternative for managing liver aging. In this review,we systematically assess the driving factors, characteristics, and underlying mechanisms of liver aging. We then discuss the current status of the use of stem cells to mitigate liver senescence and address related liver diseases. The review reveals that a stem cell-based approach represents a promising therapeutic strategy for combating liver aging and associated diseases.

Acute lateral ankle sprain (ALAS) is one of the most common sport injuries, with high incidence, recurrence and disability rates. Currently, exercise rehabilitation-based non-surgical treatment is the primary management approach for ALAS. However, there remain improper practices such as excessive immobilization or uncontrolled activity, which contribute to recurrent sprains and chronic ankle instability, significantly impairing patients′ athletic function and quality of life. To standardize the non-surgical management of ALAS, improve the cure rates, and reduce the recurrence and disability rates, Chinese Sports Rehabilitation Medicine Training Project of Chinese Medical Association, Foot and Ankle Basics and Orthopedics Group, Orthopedic Branch of Chinese Medical Doctor Association, and Sports Medicine Branch of Jiangsu Medical Association organized relevant experts to formulate Expert consensus on non-surgical treatment for acute lateral ankle sprain ( version 2025), following the principles of scientific vigor, practicality, and innovation. Thirteen recommendations were proposed for standardized treatment protocols across different healing phases, aiming to provide references for standard management of ALAS and improve the therapeutic outcomes.

OBJECTIVE:To review the development trend, target population, setting and construction process of osteoporosis-specific quality of life measures both domestically and internationally.METHODS:All of the currently available publicly available osteoporosis-specific quality-of-life scales were found by searching the PubMed,Embase,CNKI,and WanFang Data. The search period included the time from database construction to August 2024.The basic information, development trend, target population, and the setting of the scale's dimensions, entries, and levels were taken from the original research and development literature that included the scale. The content of the dimensions and the scale's construction process were then compiled and examined.RESULTS:A total of 20 osteoporosis-specific quality of life scales were included in the study, and the literature on the development of 34 scales was traced. The number of dimensions of the included scales ranged from 2-7 dimensions, all of which included physiological dimensions;the number of entries of the scales ranged from 10-84 entries, while the number of levels set under the entries was mostly focused on four or five levels. There are three main ways of constructing the scales,of which the construction of a pool of entries and the screening of the entries according to classical measurement theory and item response theory is an approach that has emerged in recent years.CONCLUSION:According to the specific target population and diversified measurement objectives, the content of osteoporosis-specific quality of life scales has become increasingly streamlined, with fewer dimensions and entries overall;and its building procedure is gradually becoming more standardized.
