Objective To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of statutory infectious diseases in Yichang City from 2015 to 2023 and evaluate the effectiveness of non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) in infectious disease prevention and control, and to provide a basis for formulating prevention and control strategies. Methods Descriptive epidemiological methods were used to analyze annual incidence rates. SARIMA and SARIMA intervention models were constructed to predict the incidence rates of infectious diseases. Interrupted time series analysis (ITS) was applied to assess the control effectiveness. Results The average annual incidence rate from 2015 to 2023 was 787.47/100 000, with the top five diseases being influenza, hand-foot-and-mouth disease, hepatitis B, tuberculosis, and diarrheal diseases. The average incidence rate from 2015 to 2019 (654.31/100 000) was significantly higher than that from 2020 to 2022 (489.01/100 000) (χ²= 3 499.6, P < 0.05). The total incidence rate in 2023 (2 396.51/100 000) was significantly higher than the average annual incidence rates from 2015-2019 (χ²= 108 186.1, P < 0.05) and 2020-2022 (χ²= 112 869.4, P < 0.05). SARIMA model results indicated that the actual incidence rate from 2020 to 2022 decreased by 73.49% compared to the predicted rate without intervention, with the highest decline observed in respiratory infectious diseases (79.57%). The SARIMA-intervention model showed a 55.48% relative decrease in the total incidence rate for 2023, with the largest reduction in respiratory infectious diseases (63.28%) and a slight increase in intestinal infectious diseases (5.48%). Conclusion NPIs effectively reduce the incidence of statutory infectious diseases in the short term, especially for acute respiratory and intestinal infectious diseases. However, long-term effectiveness faces challenges, necessitating the development of differentiated prevention and control strategies.

AIM:To analyze differential proteins associated with the pathogenesis of dry eye(DE)using bioinformatics methods, in order to reveal their potential molecular mechanisms.METHODS: Articles published in PubMed and EMBASE databases from the inception of the database to August 31, 2023, that used proteomic methods to detect protein expression in clinical samples of dry eye were searched. Differential proteins were selected and further analyzed using the STRING database and Cytoscape software for hub gene screening and module analysis. Protein-protein interaction(PPI)analysis, gene ontology(GO)functional annotation, and Kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes(KEGG)pathway enrichment analysis were performed.RESULTS: A total of 21 articles were included, identifying 74 differentially expressed proteins. The most frequently occurring differential proteins were calgranulin A(SA1008), lipocalin-1(LCN1), lysozyme C(LYZ), mammaglobin-B(SCGB2A1), proline-rich protein 4(PRR4), transferrin(TF), and calgranulinB(S100A9). The top 10 hub genes were serum albumin(ALB), tumor necrosis factor(TNF), interleukin 6(IL6), IL1B, IL8, matrix metalloproteinase 9(MMP9), alpha-1-antitrypsin(SERPINA1), IL10, complement component 3(C3), and lactotransferrin(LTF). Module analysis suggested MMP9 and PRR4 as seed genes. KEGG analysis showed that differential proteins were mainly enriched in the IL17 signaling pathway(61.9%).CONCLUSION: The results reveal potential molecular targets and pathways for DE and confirm the association between the pathogenesis of DE and inflammation. Further in-depth research is needed to confirm the significance of these biomarkers in clinical practice.

Objective: To investigate the correlation of emotional and behavioral problems with sleep problems in children with cerebral palsy, so as to provide reference for intervention of emotional and behavioral problems in children. Methods: A cross sectional survey was conducted, and 402 children aged 6-18 with cerebral palsy who were adopted by social welfare institutions in Guangzhou City from January 2023 to January 2024 were selected to investigate their full time nurses. The Parents Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) was used to assess the emotional and behavioral problems of children with cerebral palsy, and the Children s Sleep Habits Questionnaire (CSHQ) was used to assess sleep problems. Multiple linear regression analysis was used to analyze the correlation between the sleep problem of children with cerebral palsy and the emotional and behavioral problems. Results: The prevalence of emotional and behavioral difficulties among children with cerebral palsy was 15.7%. The median sleep problem score of children with emotional and behavioral problems [37.0(36.0, 41.0)] was significantly higher than that of children without emotional and behavioral [35.0(34.0, 36.0)] ( Z =-5.74, P <0.01). The results of multiple linear regression analysis showed that after adjusting covariables such as age, gender, cerebral palsy classification, language retardation, visual impairment and epilepsy, the total sleep problem score of children with cerebral palsy was positively correlated with the total difficulty score ( β= 0.28, 95%CI =0.17-0.34, P <0.05). Conclusions Sleep problems in children with cerebral palsy are associated with emotional and behavioral difficulties. Understanding of the management of sleep problems in children with cerebral palsy should be enhanced to reduce the incidence of emotional and behavioral problems in children with cerebral palsy.

Ferritin, a ubiquitous protein in living organisms, plays a crucial role in storing and converting iron, as well as maintaining cellular iron metabolism balance. Due to the ability of self-assembling into unique nanocage-like structures in vitro and the special physicochemical properties, ferritin has garnered extensive attention in the biomedical field. This paper provides a brief overview of the structure and cargo loading strategies of ferritin, with a specific focus on its applications in various biological fields such as nanomedicine, bioimaging, and nanoparticle vaccine carriers. The aim is to offer a valuable reference for the future research involving ferritin nanoparticles.

The study aims to investigate the impacts of prolyl oligopeptidase (POP) on the replication of foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV) in BHK-21 cells. Firstly, the effects of FMDV replication on POP expression in BHK-21 cells were analyzed by Western blotting and Real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR). Secondly, a eukaryotic expression plasmid for POP was constructed, and the effects of POP overexpression on the replication of two different serotypes of FMDV were assessed by Western blotting, RT-qPCR, and virus titer assays. Thirdly, specific small interfering RNAs (siRNAs) targeting POP were synthesized, and their efficiency in interfering with endogenous POP expression was identified by RT-qPCR. The impacts of downregulating endogenous POP expression on FMDV replication were further evaluated by Western blotting, RT-qPCR, and virus titer assays. The results indicated that FMDV infection did not significantly affect POP expression in BHK-21 cells. Overexpression of POP dose-dependently enhanced the replication of both FMDV/O and FMDV/A serotypes. Conversely, siRNA-mediated downregulation of endogenous POP expression markedly suppressed FMDV/O replication. This study is the first to demonstrated that the role of the host POP protein in promoting FMDV replication in BHK-21 cells, thereby providing a critical theoretical foundation and potential molecular targets for developing efficient candidate cell strains for foot-and-mouth disease inactivated vaccines.

Abstract In recent years, the prevalence of overweight and obesity among children and adolescents has risen rapidly, posing a serious threat to their physical and mental health. To provide scientific, systematic, and standardized weight management guidance for overweight and obese children and adolescents, the study focuses on the core concept of healthy lifestyle intervention, integrates multidisciplinary expert opinions and research findings,and proposes a comprehensive multidisciplinary intervention framework covering scientific exercise intervention, precise nutrition and diet, optimized sleep management, and standardized psychological support. It calls for the establishment of a multi agent collaborative management mechanism led by the government, implemented by families, fostered by schools, initiated by individuals, optimized by communities, reinforced by healthcare, and coordinated by multiple stakeholders. Emphasizing a child and adolescent centered approach, the consensus advocates for comprehensive, multi level, and personalized guidance strategies to promote the internalization and maintenance of a healthy lifestyle. It serves as a reference and provides recommendations for the effective prevention and control of overweight and obesity, and enhancing the health level of children and adolescents.

Objective: To investigate the association between cysteine level and lumbar spine (LS) bone mineral density (BMD) among children with cerebral palsy, so as to provide a basis for bone health enhancement among children with cerebral palsy. Methods: A total of 149 children aged 10-18 with cerebral palsy who were admitted to the G city Social Welfare Institute (Luogang District) from January 2023 to January 2024. Basic demographic characteristics of children with cerebral palsy were extracted from medical records system. Cysteine levels were measured using the enzyme cycling method. LS BMD of the children was determined by specialized rehabilitation physicians using dual energy X ray absorptiometry, and the corrected BMD Z -scores for LS were calculated. Non restrictive cubic splines and segmented multiple linear regression were employed to analyze the correlation between cysteine levels and age specific height Z -scores (HAZ scores) for LS BMD in children with cerebral palsy. Results: The median cysteine concentration in children with cerebral palsy was 9.13(8.42, 10.30)μmol/L, with significantly higher levels in spastic type children [9.28(8.53，10.49)μmol/L] compared to non spastic types [8.64(7.89，9.66)μmol/L]( Z=-2.46，P <0.05). The median LS BMD HAZ score was -1.07( -2.10 , -0.16), and the detection rate of decreased bone mass was 29.5%. There was an "L" shaped association between serum homocysteine concentration and LS BMD HAZ score in children with cerebral palsy. When serum homocysteine concentration was below 8.7 μmol/L, a significant negative correlation was observed between LS BMD HAZ score and serum homocysteine concentration ( B=-0.32, 95%CI =-1.06 to -0.15, P <0.05). Conclusions The significant negative correlation between cysteine levels and LS BMD in children with cerebral palsy at lower cysteine concentrations, which suggests a potentially higher sensitivity to the influence of homocysteine than healthy children and adolescents, warranting attention even if not reaching the standard of hyperhomocysteinemia.

Abstract The capacity of school health services is an important guarantee for ensuring physical and mental health of students and faculty, and is an important component of healthy schools. With the development of society, health status of children and adolescents presents new characteristics, which puts forward higher requirements for school health service capabilities. The allocation of health personnel, whether in universities or primary and secondary schools, still faces a common problem of being extremely mismatched with educational needs. To comprehensively build a high quality school health system that meets the current goal of building a strong education country, optimizing the construction of school doctors has become a key part of it. The article summarizes the main problems and challenges in the construction of school medical teams in China, proposes potential development paths and suggestions, in order to provide the reference for improving and developing high quality school health work systems, enhancing overall school health service capabilities, and promoting the comprehensive healthy development of children and adolescents.

Objective: To understand the current status of the standardized construction of the health system in colleges and universities in Guangdong Province, so as to provide recommendations for promoting its standardized construction. Methods: From October to November 2023, a random digital table method combined with a questionnaire survey and one site investigation were used to investigate the basic information of school medical institutions, the construction situation of school medical institutions, the service provision of school medical institutions, the work of infectious disease prevention and control, and health education in 281 branches of 169 colleges and universities across 21 cities in Guangdong Province. Results: Among the 281 branches of colleges in Guangdong Province, 264 (94.0%) had school medical institutions. Among those, 88 (33.3%) had a preventive health care department, and 35 (13.5%) had one office for health education research. There were a total of 2 950 health professionals in school medical institutions, with 988 being regular staff members, 372 (12.6%) of whom hold senior titles. A total of 190 (73.4%) branches conducted annual infectious disease prevention and control health education for faculty, 219 (84.6%) branches conducted annual health education for students with at least 1 hour of instruction, 109 (42.1%) branches offered health education courses, and 106 (40.9%) branches established health education resources. Conclusion The construction of health system in colleges and universities in Guangdong Province is becoming more complete, but there are still issues such as unclear functional positioning of school health related departments and personnel, a weak team of school health professionals, and insufficient investment in health education.

Uremic pruritus (UP) is a common complication in patients with end-stage renal disease, which seriously reduces the quality of life of patients. Compared with the internal treatment of TCM, the external treatment of TCM for UP is simpler and more effective, and can avoid the first pass effect caused by oral drugs and may cause liver and kidney damage. The treatment methods mainly include external washing of TCM, medicated bath, fumigation, wet compress, enema, scraping, acupuncture, auricular point sticking, acupoint application, acupoint iontophoresis, autologous blood acupoint injection and so on. At present, most studies are based on the conventional treatment of Western medicine, and the addition of external treatment of TCM can improve the efficacy, and has certain advantages in improving itching symptoms, inflammatory indicators, sleep quality, anxiety and depression. Some studies have selected parathyroid hormone, blood phosphorus, CRP, IL-6, histamine, SCr, BUN, β2-microglobulin and other indicators to evaluate the efficacy. The results suggest that external treatment of TCM can improve the micro-inflammatory state of patients and protect renal function, but further mechanism research is needed. The existing research has the following problems: the clinical efficacy evaluation scale is not uniform, and it is difficult to compare and summarize horizontally; the relief of pruritus symptoms is based on the scale evaluation, which is subjective; the course of treatment is short, and the long-term efficacy and safety can not be evaluated; some studies do not specify the patients' syndrome type, which is difficult to reflect the advantages of TCM syndrome differentiation and treatment, and needed to be improved in the future.
