Osteoarthritis(OA),characterized by cartilage degeneration, synovial inflammation, and subchondral bone remodeling,is among the most common musculoskeletal disorders globally in people over 60 years of age.The initiation and progression of OA involves the abnormal metabolism of chondrocytes as an important pathogenic process.Cartilage degeneration features mitochondrial dysfunction as one of the important causative factors of abnormal chondrocyte metabolism. Therefore, maintaining mitochondrial homeostasis is an important strategy to mitigate OA.Mitophagy is a vital process for autophagosomes to target, engulf, and remove damaged and dysfunctional mitochondria, thereby maintaining mitochondrial homeostasis.Cumulative studies have revealed a strong association between mitophagy and OA,suggesting that the regulation of mitophagy may be a novel therapeutic direction for OA.By reviewing the literature on mitophagy and OA published in recent years, this paper elaborates the potential mechanism of mitophagy regulating OA,thus providing a theoretical basis for studies related to mitophagy to develop new treatment options for OA.

The endoplasmic reticulum is a key site for protein production and quality control.More than one-third of proteins are synthesized and folded into the correct three-dimensional conformation in the endoplasmic reticulum. However, during protein folding, unfolded and/or misfolded proteins are prone to occur, which may lead to endoplasmic reticulum stress.Organisms can monitor the quality of the proteins produced by endoplasmic reticulum quality control(ERQC)and endoplasmic reticulum-associated degradation(ERAD),which maintain endoplasmic reticulum protein homeostasis by degrading abnormally folded proteins. The underlying mechanisms of protein folding and ERAD in mammals have not yet been fully explored. Therefore, this paper reviews the process and function of protein folding and ERAD in mammalian cells,in order to help clinicians better understand the mechanism of ERAD and to provide a scientific reference for the treatment of diseases caused by abnormal ERAD.

Prostate cancer is a prevalent and debilitating disease that necessitates effective prevention and treatment strategies. Green tea, a well-known beverage derived from the Camellia sinensis plant, contains bioactive compounds with potential health benefits, including catechins and polyphenols. This comprehensive review aims to explore the potential benefits of green tea in prostate cancer prevention and treatment by examining existing literature. Green tea possesses antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-carcinogenic properties attributed to its catechins, particularly epigallocatechin gallate. Epidemiological studies have reported an inverse association between green tea consumption and prostate cancer risk, with potential protection against aggressive forms of the disease. Laboratory studies demonstrate that green tea components inhibit tumor growth, induce apoptosis, and modulate signaling pathways critical to prostate cancer development and progression. Clinical trials and human studies further support the potential benefits of green tea. Green tea consumption has been found to be associated with a reduction in prostate-specific antigen levels, tumor markers, and played a potential role in slowing disease progression. However, challenges remain, including optimal dosage determination, formulation standardization, and conducting large-scale, long-term clinical trials. The review suggests future research should focus on combinatorial approaches with conventional therapies and personalized medicine strategies to identify patient subgroups most likely to benefit from green tea interventions.

ObjectiveTo establish a quantitative analysis multi-components by single marker method (QAMS) for five main components (aucubin, geniposidic acid, chlorogenic acid, asperuloside and rutin) in Eucommiae Folium, to verify its feasibility and applicability in the determination of Eucommiae Folium, so as to provide a scientific basis for the development of quality standard of this herb. MethodHigh performance liquid chromatography was performed on a Welch Boltmatetm™ C18 column (4.6 mm×100 mm, 2.7 μm) with methanol (A)-0.2% phosphoric acid aqueous solution (B) as the mobile phase for gradient elution (0-8 min, 3%A; 8-10 min, 3%-11%A; 10-26 min, 11%A; 26-27 min, 11%-25%A; 27-60 min, 25%-32%A), the column temperature was set at 30 ℃, the flow rate was 0.6 mL·min-1, the detection wavelengths were at 210 nm and 254 nm. Chlorogenic acid was used as an internal reference to establish the relative correction factors (f) between it and the other four components, and the contents of the five components in 14 batches of Eucommiae Folium were determined by QAMS and external standard method (ESM), respectively. ResultThe f values of chlorogenic acid to aucubin, geniposidic acid, asperuloside and rutin were 3.13, 1.45, 2.64 and 0.56, respectively. Repeatability was good under different experimental conditions, relative standard deviation (RSD) was <5.0%. The contents of aucubin, geniposidic acid, chlorogenic acid, asperuloside and rutin in 14 batches of Eucommiae Folium were 1.340-28.975, 0.252-36.086, 10.016-27.443, 1.396-8.646, 0.533-1.766 mg·g-1, respectively. There were no significant difference between content results of QAMS and that of ESM (RSD<5.0%). ConclusionQAMS established with chlorogenic acid as the internal reference can be used to determine the contents of five components in Eucommiae Folium, and this method is simple and accurate. After comprehensive evaluation, the quality standard of Eucommiae Folium in subsequent editions of Chinese Pharmacopoeia is suggested that three main active components, chlorogenic acid, aucubin and geniposidic acid, are selected as quality markers, and their content limits are recommended not less than 1.5%, 1.0% and 1.0%, respectively. This quality standard draft can avoid the potential quality risk due to poor specificity and low content limit of the index component (chlorogenic acid) in the previous editions of Chinese Pharmacopoeia.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of rosuvastatin on in-stent restenosis in middle-aged patients with acute coronary syndrome(ACS)after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). METHODS: Totally 400 middle-aged ACS patients underwent PCI were selected from Xuchang Central Hospital during Mar. 2016 to Apr. 2017, and then divided into control group and observation group according to random number table, with 200 patients in each group. Both groups were given conventional drugs for secondary prevention of coronary heart disease. Control group were given Clopidogrel hydrogen sulfate tablets 75 mg, once a day+Aspirin enteric-coated tablets 100 mg, once a day+Atorvastatin calcium tablets 20 mg, once at bed time every day orally after PCI. Observation group was given Clopidogrel hydrogen sulfate tablets 75 mg, once a day+Aspirin enteric-coated tablets 100 mg, once a day+Rosuvastatin calcium tablets 10 mg, once at bed time every day orally after PCI. Both groups were treated for consecutive 12 months. The serum levels of TG, TC, LDL-C, hs-CRP and IL-35 were recorded in 2 groups before surgery, 1, 3, 6 and 12 months after surgery; in-stent minimum lumen diameter (MLD) was observed immediately after surgery and 12 months after surgery. The occurrence of in-stent restenosis, major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) and adverse drug reaction (ADR) were recorded. RESULTS: Totally 14 patients dropped out from control group and 18 from observation group, and 368 patients completed the study. Before surgery and immediately after surgery, there was no statistical significance in the serum levels of TG, TC, LDL-C, hs-CRP IL-35 or MLD (P>0.05). One day after surgery, the levels of hs-CRP were increased significantly in 2 groups, compared with before surgery (P<0.05). One, three, six and twelve months after surgery, the serum levels of TG, TC, LDL-C and hs-CRP were decreased significantly in 2 groups, while the levels of IL-35 were increased significantly, compared with before surgery; and the serum levels of TG and TC (1 and 3 months after surgery), LDL-C (3 and 6 months after surgery) and hs-CRP (1 month after surgery) in observation group were significantly lower than control group; the level of IL-35 in observation group (1 month after surgery) was significantly higher than control group (P<0.05). Twelve months after surgery, MLDs of 2 groups were decreased significantly, and observation group was significantly higher than control group (P<0.05). There was no statistical significance in the incidence of in-stent restenosis or the total incidence of MACE and ADR between 2 groups after surgery (P>0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Rosuvastatin can effectively improve the levels of blood lipid and inflammatory factor in meddle-aged patients with ACS after PCI, and its effect is better than that of atorvastatin. The drug can delay in-stent restenosis after PCI in these patients, which is better than the effect of atorvastatin. At the same time, rosuvastatin can not increase the risk of MACE and ADR with good safety.

Journal of Forensic Medicine 2018;34(3):270-275
OBJECTIVES:
To investigate the genetic polymorphisms of 27 Y-STR in Dongxiang population of Gansu province, and to explore the population genetic relationship and the value of forensic application.
METHODS:
The genotyping of 27 Y-STR loci in 526 unrelated male individuals in Dongxiang population of Gansu province were detected by STRtyper-27Y kit. The allele frequencies and haplotype diversity were also calculated. Combining with other genetics data of 14 loci in same populations, which have been published at home and abroad, the genetic distance and clustering relationship in Dongxiang population of Gansu province were calculated.
RESULTS:
Totally 55 haplotypes were found in the DYS385a/b biallelic loci, 39 haplotypes in DYF387S1 loci, and 4-16 alleles in the rest 23 single copy STR loci. The GD value was from 0.453 9 (DYS391) to 0.957 5 (DYS385a/b). Totally 471 haplotypes were observed in 27 Y-STR loci in 526 individuals, and the value of haplotypes diversity was 0.999 5. The genetic distance between Dongxiang and Tibetan populations of Gansu province was the closest (0.068 2), while it was the longest between Dongxiang population in Gansu province and Han population in Henan province (0.084 7). The result of dimensional analysis established upon the genetic distance was basically matched with that of the cluster analysis.
CONCLUSIONS
The 27 Y-STR loci show a high genetic polymorphism in Dongxiang population of Gansu province, which has significance for the Y-STR database establishment, population genetics study and forensic practice.
