Objective:To investigate the differences in electroencephalographic (EEG) microstate characteristics between children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and typically developing (TD) children, and to explore the correlation between irritability and EEG microstate features in ASD children. Methods:A total of 104 children with ASD [ASD group, 83 boys, 21 girls; aged 4-13 years, mean age (9.47±1.74)years] from the Autism Cohort of Nanjing Medical University and 60 TD children [TD group; 50 boys, 10 girls; aged 5-13 years, mean age(9.86±1.78) years ]from the IEEE Dataport database were enrolled. Irritability severity was assessed using the Affective Reactivity Index-Parent (ARI-P). Resting-state EEG data with eyes closed were recorded using a 24-channel dry-electrode EEG cap. Group-level EEG microstate topographic maps and microstate parameters, including mean duration, frequency, and time coverage, were extracted and compared between groups using nonparametric tests. In the ASD group, Spearman correlation analysis was used to examine the associations between microstate features and ARI-P in ASD children. Multiple linear regression was used to identify predictors of irritability. Results:Four group-level microstates (A, B, C, D) were identified in both groups. Compared to TD children, ASD children exhibited significantly longer mean duration for all microstates, in microstates A[ M(Q1, Q3)]: 0.060 (0.054,0.070) vs 0.091 (0.0530, 0.155) s, microstate B: 0.059 (0.050, 0.066) vs 0.087 (0.057,0.149) s, microstate C: 0.059 (0.050, 0.066) vs 0.095 (0.056, 0.183) s and microstate D: 0.055 (0.049,0.075) vs 0.095 (0.053,0.162) s ( Z=-3.51, -4.89, -4.71, -4.21; all P<0.001); However, microstate occurrence frequencies were significantly lower in the ASD group: A: 5.423 (3.640,21.024) vs 1.834 (1.327,3.395) Hz, microstate B: 4.949 (3.439,20.038) vs 2.146 (1.314,3.834) Hz, microstate C: 5.888 (3.998,22.078) vs 2.234 (1.441,3.768) Hz and microstate D: 5.371 (3.170,15.208) vs 2.074 (1.147,3.582) Hz ( Z=-7.72, -6.41, -7.85, -6.60; all P<0.001). In the ASD group, ARI-P scores were positively correlated with the mean duration of microstates B, C, and D ( r=0.28, 0.26, 0.33; all P<0.05) and negatively correlated with the occurrence frequency of microstates A, C, and D ( r=-0.26, -0.27, -0.21; all P<0.05). Multiple linear regression analysis revealed that the mean duration of microstate B was a significant predictor of irritability severity ( β=0.436, 95% CI: 1.260-4.202, P<0.001). Conclusion:Resting-state EEG microstate characteristics in Children with ASD differ from those in TD children and are associated with the severity of irritability. Prolonged duration of microstate B may serve as a risk factor for increased irritability in children with ASD.

Chinese Journal of Radiation Oncology 2025;34(3):305-309
Radiotherapy plays a pivotal role in the treatment of malignant tumors. The emergence of radiation resistance in malignant tumors, contributing to tumor recurrence, progression, or distant metastasis, remains a significant treatment challenge. Exploring the mechanisms underlying radiation resistance and overcoming the radio-resistance of tumors have become urgent problems in oncological practice. Cuproptosis, a copper-dependent form of regulated cell death, is driven by the aggregation of lipoylated proteins and the reduction of Fe-S cluster proteins, etc. Copper and cuproptosis are not only intricately related to the incidence and development of tumors, but also participate in radiation resistance of tumor cells. Strategic interventions targeting copper and inducing cuproptosis will present promising avenues for overcoming radiation resistance and further improving the prognosis of tumor patients. This review comprehensively delineates established and potential mechanisms governing the intricate crosstalk between radiation resistance and cuproptosis, aiming to provide reference for overcoming radiation resistance in malignant tumor cells.

Chinese Journal of Experimental and Clinical Virology 2025;39(5):565-574
Objective:To investigate the relationship between gut microbiota characteristics and inflammatory factors with immune recovery in HIV-infected individuals, and to explore the role and clinical significance of gut microbiota in HIV immune recovery. Methods:Sixty HIV-infected individuals and twenty healthy controls(HC)were enrolled. Among them, twenty ones were HIV-infected individuals who had not received antiretroviral therapy(ART),and forty ones were HIV-infected individuals who had received ART for more than two years, including twenty immune responders(IR)and twenty immune non-responders(INR). Fecal and blood samples were collected from participants. The gut microbiota in fecal samples was analyzed using 16 S rRNA sequencing, while plasma inflammatory factors were detected using Olink proteomics. The correlations between these factors and CD4 + T cell counts,CD4/CD8 ratios,as well as HIV DNA and HIV RNA were analyzed. Results:Compared with the HC group, gut microbiota α diversity in HIV-infected group was reduced, and the microbiota composition changed, with decreased abundance of Firmicutes and related genera, while the abundance of Bacteroidetes and Proteobacteria related genera increased. Compared with the IR group, the INR group showed increased abundance of the Bacteroidetes phylum and decreased abundance of the Firmicutes phylum. LEfSe analysis revealed enrichment of the Flavonifractor genus in the INR group and the Allisonella genus in the IR group. Flavonifractor was positively correlated with HIV DNA and HIV RNA ;Allisonella was positively correlated with CD4? T cell counts and negatively correlated with IL-6,CD8A,and TNF-α expression;and pro-inflammatory factors were positively correlated with the HIV viral reservoir. Conclusions:Reduced gut microbiota diversity and altered composition,as well as increased pro-inflammatory factors, are closely associated with immune recovery and disease progression in HIV-infected individuals.

Chinese Journal of School Health 2025;46(9):1266-1271
Objective:
To explore the effects of parenting style on emotional and behavioral problems (EBPs) of preschool children and to provide theoretical reference for promoting children s physical and mental health.
Methods:
In October-November 2021, a stratified cluster random sampling method was adopted to select 3 575 preschool children aged 3-6 years from 12 kindergartens in Hefei. Data on parenting styles and children s EBPs were collected through electronic questionnaires. Binary Logistic regression model was used to explore the effects of parenting styles on children s EBPs.
Results:
The detection rates of emotional symptoms, conduct problems, hyperactivity, peer interaction problems, and prosocial behavior problems were 15.5% ( n =554), 23.2% ( n =830), 22.4% ( n =802), 38.2% ( n =1 367), and 29.5% ( n =1 055) in preschool children, respectively. Binary Logistic regression analysis showed that after adjusting for covariates such as child s age, sex, and preterm birth, a high authoritative parenting style reduced the risk of EBPs in children ( OR =0.29-0.78), while a high authoritarian ( OR =1.36-2.15) and high permissive ( OR =1.36-1.68) parenting style in mothers increased the risk of EBPs in children (all P <0.05). Further stratified analysis indicated that among children with fathers exhibiting high authoritative, high authoritarian, or high permissive parenting styles, a high authoritative parenting style in mothers reduced the risk of peer interaction problems and prosocial behavior problems ( OR =0.51, 0.30 ; 0.44, 0.23; 0.51, 0.29, all P <0.05). Among children with fathers exhibiting a high authoritative parenting style, a high authoritarian parenting style in mothers increased the risk of emotional problems ( OR =2.59), and both high authoritarian and high permissive parenting styles in mothers increased the risk of conduct problems ( OR =3.25, 2.09) and hyperactivity problems ( OR =2.35, 2.87) (all P <0.05). Among children with fathers exhibiting high authoritarian or high permissive parenting styles, a high authoritarian parenting style in mothers increased the risk of EBPs ( OR =1.65-2.71, 1.62-2.52, all P <0.05).
Conclusion
Parenting style is an important factor affecting EBPs of preschool children, and appropriate parenting style is beneficial for children s psychological development.
