1.Association between exposure to entertainment screen content on mobile phones and symptoms of anxiety-depression co-morbidity among college students

Objective:
To determine the association between exposure to entertainment screen content on mobile phones and symptoms of anxiety-depression co-morbidity among college students,so as to provide evidence for mental health interventions.
Methods:
A baseline survey was conducted from April to May 2019. A total of 1 135 college students were selected from one university each in Shangrao City, Jiangxi Province and Hefei City, Anhui Province using cluster random sampling method. A follow up study was conducted in November 2019, resulting in 1 110 matched valid responses. Self rating questionnaires were used to assess the exposure of entertainment screen content. The Depression Anxiety Stress Scale-21(DASS-21) and the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) were used to evaluate the anxiety symptoms, depressive symptoms, and symptoms of anxiety-depression co-morbidity among college students. A multivariate binary Logistic regression model was constructed following initial intergroup comparisons with Chi-square test to determine the association between baseline exposure to mobile entertainment screen content and the risk of symptoms of anxiety depression co-morbidity at baseline and the 6 month follow up.
Results:
The prevalence rates of symptoms of anxiety-depression co-morbidity among college students were 25.4% and 20.6% at baseline and follow up, respectively.After adjusting for confounding factors such as gender, self rated family economic status and self rated health status, the results of multivariate binary Logistic regression analysis showed that compared with the appropriate exposure level group, the exposure of entertainment screen content on mobile phones at baseline, including frequent exposure to reading( OR =1.65,95% CI =1.14-2.39), occasional exposure to other entertainment screen content ( OR =1.46,95% CI =1.01-2.10)and frequent exposure to other entertainment screen content( OR =1.76,95% CI =1.20-2.60), increased the co-occurrence risk of symptoms of anxiety-depression co-morbidity among college students during the follow up period (all P <0.05).
Conclusion
Occasional or frequert exposure to mobile entertainment screen content can increase the risk of symptoms of anxiety depression co-morbidity among college students.

Peritoneal metastasis is a common form of distant metastasis in patients with colorectal cancer, and it is typically associated with a poor prognosis. The development of peritoneal metastasis involves complex molecular mechanisms and multifactorial regulation of the tumor microenvironment. Due to the presence of the blood-peritoneal barrier, only a small amount of systemic medication reaches the peritoneal cavity, resulting in limited efficacy against peritoneal metastasis. Intraperitoneal administration shows significant therapeutic advantages as it can directly target the tumor microenvironment, maintain high local drug concentrations, and reduce systemic toxicity. Intraperitoneal chemotherapy, especially hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy, has become a cornerstone therapeutic strategy in the clinical treatment of peritoneal metastasis. When selecting chemotherapy drugs and drug combinations, pharmacokinetic properties, efficacy, and safety must be comprehensively considered to optimize the treatment outcomes. In addition, the unique microenvironment of the peritoneal cavity provides new treatment approaches for biological treatment strategies, including antitoxins, vaccines, immune checkpoint inhibitors, etc. Techniques such as pressurized intraperitoneal aerosol chemotherapy and novel drug delivery systems demonstrate potential for enhanced efficacy, offering promising alternatives to improve patient outcomes. This article will review peritoneal barrier characteristics, intraperitoneal drug transport, intraperitoneal chemotherapy, and intraperitoneal biological therapies, thereby establishing a theoretical framework for precision therapy in colorectal cancer peritoneal metastasis.
3.GBA knockdown inhibits the malignant progression of DDP-resistant ovarian cancer cells by regulating the EGFR signaling pathway

Objective This study aimed to investigate how β-glucosidase(GBA)knockdown affects malignant progression in cisplatin(DDP)-resistant ovarian cancer(OC)cells and the role of the EGFR signaling pathway.Methods The A2780/DDP cells were categorized into four groups,with one of them serving as blank control(Con)group,si-NC group(transfected with negative control si-NC),si-GBA group(transfected with si-GBA),and NSC 228155 group(transfected with si-GBA and treated with 2 μmol/L NSC 228155).The protein expression levels of GBA,E-cadherin,N-cadherin,Vimentin,EGFR,p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase(p38 MAPK),phospho(p)-p38 MAPK,extracellular regulated protein kinase(ERK)and p-ERK were detected through Western blot.The relative expression of GBA was evaluated through reverse transcription quantitative polymerase chain reaction.The proliferation activity,migration,and invasion potential were evaluated using cell counting kit-8(CCK-8),plate clone formation,cell scratch healing,and Transwell migration assays.Thirty-six nude mice were divided into six groups(six mice per group):blank control(injected with normal saline),blank control+DDP(treated with DDP),negative control(injected with A2780/DDP cell suspension transfected with si-NC),negative control+DDP(injected with A2780/DDP cell suspension transfected with si-NC and treated with DDP),knockdown(injected with A2780/DDP cell suspension transfected with si-GBA),and knockdown+DDP groups(injected with A2780/DDP cell suspension transfected with si-GBA and treated with DDP).The tumor volume and weight of nude mice were evaluated.Results The relative protein and mRNA expression levels of GBA were significantly higher in the A2780/DDP group than in the A2780 group(P<0.05).Compared with estimates in the Con and si-NC groups,the proliferation activity,number of cloned cells,scratch repair rate,and number of transmembrane cells in the si-GBA group were significantly lower(P<0.05).The abundance of E-cadherin expression exhibited a notable elevation(P<0.05),and expression levels of Vimentin,N-cadherin,and EGFR as well as the p-p38 MAPK/p38 MAPK and p-ERK/ERK ratios were significantly decreased(P<0.05).The proliferation activity,number of cloned cells,scratch repair rate,and the count of transmembrane cells and the expression level of E-cadherin in the NSC 228155 group were markedly higher and lower,respectively,than those in the si-GBA group(P<0.05),and the expression levels of Vimentin,N-cadherin,and EGFR as well as the ratios of p-p38 MAPK/p38 MAPK and p-ERK/ERK were significantly increased(P<0.05).In the nude mouse xenograft study,the tumor size and mass in the blank control+DDP group were notably smaller and lighter,respectively,compared to those in the blank control group(P<0.05).The tumor volume and weight were significantly lower in the negative control+DDP group than in the negative control group(P<0.05),significantly lower in the knockdown+DDP group than in the knockdown group(P<0.05),moreover,they were markedly reduced in the knockdown group in comparison to both the blank control and negative control groups(P<0.05).Compared with those in the blank control+DDP and negative control+DDP groups,the tumor volume and weight in the knockdown+DDP group were significantly reduced(P<0.05).Conclusions GBA knockdown suppresses the proliferation,migration,and invasion of DDP-resistant OC cells significantly as well as the growth of subcutaneous xenografts derived from A2780/DDP cells in nude mice.These effects may be mediated through the inhibition of the EGFR/MAPK/ERK signaling pathway.
4."State-Target Differential Diagnosis and Treatment"in management of patten of qi sinking and blood stasis of coronary heart disease with angina pectoris

Coronary heart disease with angina pectoris,characterized by myocardial ischemic injury as its fundamental pathological mechanism,represents a prevalent cardiovascular condition.The"State-Target Differential Diagnosis and Treatment"presents a holistic regulatory framework,integrating macroscopic state regulation with microscopic targeting.Guided by this approach,the pathological evolution of coronary heart disease is examined through four dimensions:"state-target-cause-effect."The"cause"encompasses both the pathogenesis and etiological factors of traditional Chinese and Western medicine.The"effect"manifests as adverse cardiovascular events,including myocardial infarction and heart failure.The"state"delineates the progressive development pattern of qi to blood to deficiency,beginning with qi stagnation and cold congealment in the initial stage,followed by blood stasis and phlegm obstruction in the intermediate stage,and culminating in qi-blood deficiency in the advanced stage.The"target"encompasses multi-level therapeutic interventions addressing both symptomatic manifestations and clinical indicators.Building on this theoretical foundation,this research focuses on the pattern of qi sinking and blood stasis commonly observed in late-stage angina,systematically elucidating its state regulation and targeting therapeutic strategies.Using the clinical empirical formula Shengxian Quyu Decoction as the baseline state prescription,an in-depth investigation was conducted to determine optimal combination patterns of symptom-and biomarker-targeted medications.This study aims to establish a modernized differential treatment system for angina pectoris with the pattern of qi sinking and blood stasis,providing novel research perspectives and theoretical foundations for enhancing clinical efficacy and reducing the risk of cardiovascular events.
5.Comprehensive clinical evaluation of Shuangdan Mingmu Capsule in diabetic retinopathy treatment

Objective To evaluate the clinical evidence and overall value of Shuangdan Mingmu Capsule in treating diabetic retinopathy(DR),highlight its advantages and characteristics,clarify the exact clinical positioning for DR,and propose a reference that can aid the National Medical Management Department in its decision-making.Methods This study combined qualitative and quantitative evaluation methods.Multiple method ologies were used to analyze the"6+1"dimensions.Each dimension was measured using the Multi-criteria Decision Analysis Model and calculated using CSC software V2.0.Results SRS monitored since the launch of Shuangdan Mingmu Capsule were general adverse reactions and those reported in the literature;phase Ⅱ,Ⅲ,and Ⅳ clinical studies primarily focused on the gastrointestinal system,no serious adverse reactions were reported,and the safety was rated as A.When Shuangdan Mingmu Capsule was combined with calcium hydroxybenzenesulfonate or laser photocoagulation in the treatment of DR in a meta-analysis,it further enhanced ophthalmologic parameters such as macular thickness,hemorrhagic spot area,leakage area,best-corrected visual acuity,and the degree of visual field defect.It also increased serum vascular endothelial growth factor and platelet-derived growth factor levels,the scores from the low vision quality of life scale and ultrasound indexes,and the validity was rated as grade A.A pharmacoeconomic evaluation study of Shuangdan Mingmu Capsule combined with calcium hydroxybenzenesulfonate compared to calcium hydroxybenzenesulfonate alone for DR treatment indicated that assuming the per capita disposable income in 2023 was applied as the willingness-to-pay threshold for patients,with an ICER of 3,730.98—which is approximately 2.85%of the per capita disposable income in 2023—the treatment regimen of Shuangdan Mingmu Capsule combined with calcium hydroxybenzenesulfonate was more economical than the calcium hydroxybenzenesulfonate treatment plan alone.The economy was rated as grade B.Therefore,Shuangdan Mingmu Capsule can meet clinical needs,and the formula includes medicines to tonify the liver and kidney,activate blood,and clear the channels,which is a combination of both symptomatic and fundamental treatments.Shuangdan Mingmu Capsule can also tonify the kidney,nourish the liver,stimulate blood circulation,and improve eyesight,and it is rated as grade A for innovativeness.Therefore,the drug is widely used,has no special technical and administrative requirements,is convenient to carry,and does not need to be administered at special times.The comprehensive questionnaire survey indicated that the appropriateness of the drug is good(grade B),that the production capacity is sufficient,and that the accessibility has been rated as grade B.This drug originates from ancient prescriptions of Er Zhi Pill and Liuwei Dihuang Pill,which have a long-standing reputation in traditional medicine.The combination of disease and evidence embodies the Chinese medicine characteristics of holistic concept and identification of evidence-based treatment,and the special features of Chinese medicine are rated as grade A.Conclusion The clinical value of Shuangdan Mingmu Capsule was evaluated as Class A by synthesizing the"6+1"dimensions and calculated using CSC V2.0 software.The clinical value of Shuangdan Mingmu Capsule is Class A.However,clinical needs must be focused upon and transformed into relevant clinical medication policies,providing a strong reference for the efficacy research of clinical trials.
6.Clinical, genetic and transcriptomic characteristics of children with ACAN gene mutation

Objective:To summarize the clinical and genetic characteristics of 23 children with pathogenic ACAN gene variants, enhance the understanding of this disorder, and explore possible regulatory mechanisms. Methods:A retrospective case series summary.The clinical characteristics and genetic analysis results of 23 children with ACAN gene variants treated in the Department of Endocrinology, Genetics and Metabolism, Children′s Hospital of Soochow University from January 2016 and September 2024 were analyzed retrospectively.Transcriptome sequencing was performed on peripheral blood samples from 3 of affected children and 3 age-matched healthy children as controls.Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in the peripheral blood transcriptome profiles were identified.Gene ontology (GO) and Kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes (KEGG) pathway enrichment analyses were conducted to explore the potential signaling pathways involved. Results:Among the 23 cases, there were 13 males and 10 females, aged from 2 years and 8 months to 12 years old, with 11 cases presenting advanced bone age.Thirteen cases were treated with growth hormone (GH), including 6 cases who received concomitant gonadotropin-releasing hormone analogue therapy.The treatment duration ranged from 3 to 70 months, resulting in varying degrees of height improvement in all treated patients.Transcriptomic analysis identified 811 DEGs, with 516 up-regulated and 295 down-regulated.GO and KEGG enrichment analyses revealed that the heterozygous ACAN variants were significantly associated with FcγR-mediated phagocytosis, nuclear factor-κB signaling pathway, the intestinal immune network for IgA production, rheumatoid arthritis, and systemic lupus erythematosus signaling pathways. Conclusions:The predominant clinical manifestations of patients with ACAN gene variants are short stature and advanced bone age.Although GH provocation tests may indicate normal GH levels, GH therapy can be effective in improving height.Immune-related factors may play a role in the pathogenesis of this disorder.
7.Analysis on rate of adverse pregnancy outcomes in HIV-infected pregnant women and influencing factors in some regions of China, 2017-2023

Objective:To understand the incidence of adverse pregnancy outcome in HIV-infected pregnant women and influencing factors in China and provide reference for the improvement of the health status of HIV-infected pregnant women and their newborns.Methods:Based on a mother-child cohort of HIV-infected pregnant women and children (PMTCT-MC-2005) established in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Yunnan Province and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, this study enrolled pregnant women with or without HIV infection as study subjects from January 2017 to June 2023, a total of 1 646 pregnant women (558 HIV-infected and 1 088 HIV-uninfected) were included, and 34 cases with missing data were excluded. The χ2 test was used to analyze the difference in the incidence adverse pregnancy outcome between two groups, and used logistic regression model to identify the influencing factors of adverse pregnancy outcome in HIV-infected pregnant women. Results:A total of 1 612 pregnant women were included in the study, in whom 541 were infected with HIV and 1 071 were not infected with HIV. The incidence of adverse pregnancy outcome was 18.8% (303/1 612), the incidence of adverse pregnancy outcome was 33.1% (179/541) in the HIV-infected pregnant women and 11.6% (124/1 071) in the pregnant women without HIV infection. The results of multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that the influencing factors of adverse pregnancy outcome were age <35 years at delivery (a OR=0.64, 95% CI: 0.43-0.95) compared with the age ≥35 years and the duration of antiviral treatment over 10 years (a OR=0.43, 95% CI: 0.23-0.79) compared with less than one year. Conclusions:The incidence of adverse pregnancy outcome in HIV-infected pregnant women was high in some regions of China during 2017-2023. It is necessary for HIV-infected women to get pregnancy at appropriate time based on antiretroviral treatment effect and strengthen self-care to reduce the incidence of adverse pregnancy outcome.

9.Clinical characteristics of 57 AIDS patients complicated with cryptococcal meningitis,therapies and their therapeutic effects

OBJECTIVE To analyze the characteristics of 57 acquired immune deficiency syndrome(AIDS)patients complicated with cryptococcal meningitis and observe the treatment outcomes.METHODS Totally 57 AIDS pa-tients with complicated cryptococcal meningitis who were treated in Guiyang Public Health Treatment Center from Jan.2019 to Jun.2023 were continuously assigned as the cryptococcal meningitis group,meanwhile,57 patients with simple AIDS were chosen as the simple AIDS group based on a 1∶1 ratio matching case-control study.Both groups received standardized therapies on basis of the criteria.The clinical characteristics,T lymphocyte subsets,biochemical indexes and treatment outcomes were observed and compared between the two groups.RESULTS There were no significant differences in gastrointestinal reactions,fever and eye discomfort between the two groups;the incidence of neurological symptoms of the cryptococcal meningitis group was higher than that of the simple AIDS group(P<0.05).There was significant difference in the peripheral blood T lymphocyte subsets be-tween the cryptococcal meningitis group and the simple AIDS group(P<0.05).The levels of whole blood CD4+,CD4+/CD8+and CD8+of the cryptococcal meningitis group were lower than those of the simple AIDS group;the serum glucose(GLU)level of the cryptococcal meningitis group was lower than that of the simple AIDS group;the serum adenosine deaminase(ADA)level of the cryptococcal meningitis group was higher than that of the sim-ple AIDS group;the serum immunoglobulin A(IgA)level of the cryptococcal meningitis group was higher than that of the simple AIDS group(P<0.05).There were no significant differences in the immunological failure,vir-ological failure and immunological failure plus virological failure between the two groups after the treatment for 6 months.CONCLUSIONS The incidence of neurological symptoms is higher among the patients with AIDS com-plicated with cryptococcal meningitis than among the patients with simple AIDS.The patients have poor treatment outcomes and more severe damage of T lymphocyte subset functions,and the levels of biochemical indexes vary a-mong the patients,which may provide bases for diagnosis of diseases and assessment of curative effect and prog-nosis.

OBJECTIVE To explore the epidemiological characteristics of the children with influenza A and influenza B in a hospital of Sichuan Province from 2019 to 2024 so as to provide bases for prevention and control of influen-zas.METHODS A total of 43,348 children with respiratory tract infections who underwent antigen tests for influ-enza A and influenza B viruses in pediatrics departments of Sichuan JinxinXinan Women and Children Hospital from Jan.2019 to Dec.2024 were recruited as the research subjects.The antigens were detected with colloidal gold method.The differences in prevalence intensity,seasons,age and genders were observed and compared be-tween the children with influenza A and those with influenza B.RESULTS The total positive rate of antigens was 24.19%among the children with influenzas,the positive rate of influenza A(A)virus antigen was 21.64%,and the positive rate of influenza B(B)virus antigen was 2.56%.There was significant difference in the positive rate of virus antigen between the influenza A and the influenza B among different years(P<0.05).The positive rate of A virus antigen was 16.13%among infants,25.66%among preschool children,24.55%among school-age children;the positive rate of B virus antigen was 1.42%among infants,2.64%among preschool children,3.95%among school-age children;there were significant differences in the positive rates of antigens of A and B viruses among the different age groups(P<0.05).The positive rate of A virus antigen was 22.22%among the male infants,21.00%among the female infants,and there was significant difference(P<0.05);the positive rate of B virus an-tigen was 2.60%among the male infants,2.51%among the female infants,and there was no significant differ-ence.The positive rate of A virus antigen was 27.66%in spring,11.94%in summer,13.10%in autumn,21.98%in winter;the positive rate of B virus antigen was 1.21%in spring,0.09%in summer,1.62%in au-tumn,5.53%in winter;there were significant differences in the positive rates of antigens of A and B viruses a-mong the seasons(P<0.05).CONCLUSIONS The total positive rate of influenza A virus antigen is higher than that of the influenza B virus antigen.There is difference in the susceptible population between the influenza A and the influenza B;the influenza A is highly prevalent in winter and spring,and the influenza B is highly prevalent in winter.
