Background While A few studies have suggested associations between ambient temperature and cardiac autonomic function, the relationship between hourly temperature variations and heart rate variability (HRV) remains unclear. Objective To examine the acute effects and lag patterns of short-term ambient temperature exposure on HRV at an hourly temporal resolution during cold and warm seasons, and to further characterize the exposure-response relationships. Methods We conducted a longitudinal panel study involving 1047 eligible participants who ordered repeated 24 h ambulatory electrocardiogram monitoring at the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University in Urumqi, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, China, between March 2020 and March 2022. Twelve HRV parameters were extracted, including standard deviation of all NN intervals (SDNN), standard deviation of the 5 min averages of NN intervals (SDANN), standard deviation of NN intervals index (SDNNIDX), root mean square of successive differences of adjacent NN intervals (rMSSD), triangle index (TI), percent of NN50 in the total number of NN intervals (pNN50), total power (TP), ultralow frequency (ULF), very low frequency (VLF), low frequency (LF), high frequency (HF), and ratio of low frequency to high frequency (LF/HF). Hourly meteorological data (mean temperature and relative humidity) were obtained from the nearest monitoring stations to participants' residences. Linear mixed effects models (LME) and generalized additive mixed effects models (GAMM) were employed to assess temperature-HRV associations and lag patterns during cold (from October to March next year) and warm (from April to September) seasons, with stratification by sex and age. Results A total of 1047 Urumqi residents who had repeated 24 h ambulatory electrocardiograms were included in this study. In both cold and warm seasons, the exposure-response relationship between ambient temperature and HRV showed an approximately linear negative correlation with no threshold effect; HRV parameters decreased as ambient temperature increased. The correlation between ambient temperature and HRV usually began at a lag of 6 h and disappeared around 24 h lag. The cold season induced a stronger effect on HRV decline, and for every 1 °C increase in ambient temperature during the cold season from lag 0 to 6 h, SDNN decreased by 0.72%, SDNNIDX decreased by 1.46%, TI decreased by 0.07%, SDANN decreased by 1.23%, rMSSD decreased by 1.00%, pNN50 decreased by 2.74%, TP decreased by 3.30%, ULF decreased by 3.74%, VLF decreased by 3.76%, LF decreased by 2.75%, HF decreased by 2.49%, and LF/HF decreased by 0.74%; for every 1 °C increase in ambient temperature during the warm season, SDNN decreased by 0.56%, SDNNIDX decreased by 1.08%, TI decreased by 0.29%, SDANN decreased by 0.56%, rMSSD decreased by 0.68%, pNN50 decreased by 2.11%, TP decreased by 2.64%, ULF decreased by 3.14%, VLF decreased by 2.74%, LF decreased by 1.85%, HF decreased by 1.68%, and LF/HF decreased by 0.47%. Conclusion Elevated ambient temperatures in Urumqi are significantly associated with decreased HRV in the residents, affecting cardiac autonomic function.

Purpose The results of EBER in situ hybridization on the external quality assessment(EQA)organ-ized by the pathology Equipment Branch of the China Association of Medical Equipment were analyzed,for providing technical support for the standardization and normalization of the technology.Methods Paraffin-embedded sections of confirmed EBV-positive diffuse large B-cell lymphoma were selected as the evaluation specimens.Additionally,EBER in situ hybridization liquid cell controls were applied to the slides as evaluation references.A questionnaire was distrib-uted to collect staining information and methodologies from participating laboratories.Finally,the stained slides were collected and independently evaluated by pathology experts from the association according to predefined scoring criteria.Results A total of 38 pathology laboratories from 7 provinces and municipalities directly under the central government participated in the EQA,including 32 hospital pathology departments and 6 independent clinical laboratories.21 par-ticipants used manual staining,and others(17)used automated staining method by immunohistochemistry(IHC)stainers.The overall qualification rate of EBER in situ hybridization staining was 94.74％(36/38),and the excellent& good rate was 26.32％(10/38).The excellent & good rate of automated staining(41.12％,7/17)was significant-ly higher than that of manual staining(14.29％,3/21)(x2=4.852,P=0.028).The positive cell line control showed good consistency with the tissue control(Kappa=0.909,r=0.944).Conclusion The EBER in situ hybrid-ization technique in most of the pathology laboratories in the external quality assessment is qualified.There is a statisti-cally significant difference in the excellent & good rate between different staining methods.EBER in situ hybridization using automated IHC stainers is recommended as the preferred method.There is no difference in the performance of positive cell line control and tissue control.Some laboratories' staining techniques need to be improved.

Objective:To develop the Body Image Flexibility Questionnaire for Middle School Students(BIFQ-MS)and test its validity and reliability.Methods:Firstly,the initial questionnaire was developed based on the hexaflex model of psychological flexibility.Secondly,701 middle school students were selected to complete the initial questionnaire for item analysis and exploratory factor analysis.Thirdly,899 middle school students were ex-amined to conduct confirmatory factor analysis,criterion-related validity and internal consistency tests on the formal questionnaire.The Body Image-Acceptance and Action Questionnaire(BI-AAQ),Avoidance and Fusion Question-naire for Youth(AFQ-Y8),Body Areas Satisfaction Scale(BASS),and General Appearance subscale of the Nega-tive Physical Self Scale(NPSS-GA)were used to test criterion validity.In addition,88 middle school students were retested 4 weeks later.Results:The BIFQ-MS consisted of 26 items,including 4 factors(openness to experience,self-as-context,contact with the present moment,and valued action),which explained 65.55％of the total vari-ance.Confirmatory factor analysis showed that the four-factor structural model fitted well(x2/df=2.26,CFI=0.97,TLI=0.97,RMSEA=0.04,SRMR=0.03).The BIFQ-MS total scores and the scores of each factor were positively correlated with the scores of the BI-AAQ and the BASS(r=0.41-0.50,Ps＜0.01),whereas they were negatively correlated with the scores of the NPSS-GA and the AFQ-Y8(r=-0.28--0.58,Ps＜0.01).The Cronbach's α coefficients of the total questionnaire and the 4 factors ranged from 0.91 to 0.97,and the test-retest reliabilities(ICC)ranged from 0.70 to 0.86.Conclusion:The Body Image Flexibility Questionnaire for Middle School Students is a reliable tool for understanding body image flexibility in adolescents.

Objective To determine the effect of limb dominance on landing biomechanics and lower limb functional outcomes in patients with anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction(ACLR).Methods Forty-nine participants were recruited and divided into the ACLR on dominant limb(ACLR-D)group,ACLR on nondominant limb(ACLR-ND)group and healthy control group.Single-leg jump landing,knee isokinetic muscle strength,Y balance,and single-leg hop distance were tested on both limbs of all participants.Kinematics and kinetics data during the single-leg jump landing were collected by an infrared motion capture system and a force platform,and knee joint muscle strength was collected using the isokinetic muscle strength testing system.Two-way mixed-design ANOVAs were used to observe the effects of limb and group on the outcomes of each test.Results The non-surgical limbs had greater knee valgus,knee external rotation angles and knee valgus moments during single-leg jump landing in the ACLR-D group compared with those in the ACLR-ND group,and the ACLR-D group had significantly smaller bilateral knee flexion angles than the control group.There were no differences in knee muscle strength,Y-balance composite scores and single-leg hop distance between ACLR-D and ACLR-ND groups,but the Y balance scores in the ACLR-ND group were smaller than those in the control group.Conclusions Limb dominance has no effects on knee muscle strength,dynamic postural control,and single-leg hop function in ACLR patients.The non-surgical limbs of ACLR-D patients are at a higher risk of ACL injury due to the presence of greater knee valgus and external rotation angles and knee valgus moments.

BACKGROUND:Spinal cord injury is a serious neurological disease that often results in severe neurological impairment. Oxidative stress is an important link in the pathological process after spinal cord injury,leading to neuronal cell death and loss of function. In recent years,natural products have shown potential application values in the treatment of oxidative stress after spinal cord injury due to their wide range of sources,diverse structures and rich biological activities. OBJECTIVE:To discuss the therapeutic effects of some natural products on oxidative stress after spinal cord injury and the related mechanisms,in order to provide new ideas and directions for antioxidant therapy of spinal cord injury. METHODS:"Spinal cord injury,oxidative stress,anti-oxidation,natural products,natural compounds,polyphenols" were used as the English and Chinese keywords in PubMed,Web of Science,Embase,Cochrane,VIP,CBM,WanFang,and CNKI databases to search relevant articles published from database inception to May 2024. Inclusion and exclusion criteria were developed,and 97 relevant articles were selected by reading titles,abstracts,and full texts. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Natural products such as polyphenols can directly scavenge oxidative free radicals by the phenol hydroxyl group in their structure,and alleviate oxidative stress after spinal cord injury. Some natural products can enhance the activity of relevant antioxidant enzymes in vivo and reduce oxidative stress by regulating certain signal transduction pathways. Some natural products can reduce oxidative stress after spinal cord injury by enhancing autophagy. The use of natural products to regulate oxidative stress may become an effective tool for the future clinical treatment of spinal cord injury.

Objective:To investigate the immunological mechanism by which grifola frondosa extract improves colonic tissue inflammation in rats with ulcerative colitis(UC)through the sphingosine kinase 1(SPHK1)/sphingosine-1-phosphate(S1P)signaling pathway.Methods:Forty male SD rats were randomly divided into five groups:blank group,model group,sulfasalazine treatment group(SASP group),grifola frondosa extract treatment group(GF group),and sulfasalazine combined with grifola frondosa extract treatment group(SASP+GF group).UC model was established using a 3%dextran sulfate sodium(DSS)free drinking method.After one week,each treatment group received sulfasalazine 0.3 g/(kg·d),grifola frondosa extract 10 mg/(kg·d),and combination of both drugs by gavage.During the experiment,the general condition of the rats was observed,the disease activity index(DAI)score was re-corded and the protein content and positive expression levels of SPHK1,S1P,tumor necrosis factor receptor-associated factor 2(TRAF2)and TNF-α in rat colon tissue were detected by immunohistochemistry.mRNA and protein expression levels of SPHK1,S1P,TRAF2 and TNF-α in rat colon tissue were measured by RT-qPCR and Western blot.Results:Compared with the blank group,the general condition of the model group rats were poor,the DAI score was significantly increased,and the protein positive expres-sion,mRNA and protein expression levels of SPHK1,S1P,TRAF2 and TNF-α in colon tissue were significantly increased(P<0.01).Compared with the model group,the general condition of the rats in each treatment group improved significantly,the DAI score was decreased(P<0.01),and the positive expression of each target protein was significantly reduced(P<0.01),especially in the GF group and SASP+GF group;the mRNA and protein expression levels of SPHK1 and TRAF2 were reduced to varying degrees(P<0.01 or P<0.05),while the mRNA and protein expression levels of S1P and TNF-α only decreased significantly in the GF group and SASP+GF group(P<0.01).Compared with the SASP group,the GF group only showed a decrease in SPHK1 protein expression,TNF-α mRNA,and protein expression levels,while the SASP+GF group showed significant reductions in all targets(P<0.01 or P<0.05).Compared with the GF group,the SASP+GF group showed significant reductions in SPHK1 protein positive expression and content,S1P mRNA expression levels,and TNF-α protein content(P<0.05 or P<0.01).Conclusion:Grifola frondosa extract may alleviate co-lonic tissue inflammation in rats with UC by inhibiting the activation of the SPHK1/S1P pathway,restoring intestinal mucosal barrier function,and improving symptoms of UC.

Objective:To analyze the result data of the first competition of medical-industrial integration innovation for transformation of the Pathological Equipment Branch of China Association of Medical Equipment,so as to explore the directions of medical-industrial integration and transformation innovation in the field of pathology.Methods:The data of the participated projects of the first competition of medical-industrial integration innovation for transformation in 2024,which was held by the Pathological Equipment Branch of China Association of Medical Equipment,were collected,and these data were divided into equipment category,and the category of reagents and consumables according to their declaration content.The data of the results of preliminary and final competition,award information,transformation number and other data of the two categories of participated projects were analyzed,and the scoring differences between the judges who were expert,and the judges from enterprise were compared.Results:This competition received 21 projects,which included 15 projects of equipment category,and 6 projects of the category of reagents and consumables.In 21 projects,there were 10 projects wined award,which included 7 projects of equipment category,and 3 projects of the category of reagents and consumables.There was not statistically significant difference in the results between equipment category and the category of reagents and consumables in preliminary and final competitions(P>0.05).There was not significant difference in the ratio between equipment category(46.7%)and the category of reagents and consumables(50%)(P>0.05).The results of preliminary and final competitions of the projects in equipment category were respectively(70.64±3.48)and(76.49±2.34),and the difference was significant(t=5.403,P<0.05).There was not significant difference in the category of reagents and consumables between preliminary and final competitions(P>0.05).In 15 projects of equipment category,6 projects obtained the intention of transformation from enterprises.In 6 projects of the category of reagents and consumables,3 projects obtained the intention of transformation from enterprises.The score of judges who were expert,and the score of judges from enterprise were respectively(68.90±4.76)and(71.90±4.38)for the results of preliminary competition,and the difference was significant(t=2.121,P<0.05).Conclusion:The competition of medical-industrial integration innovation for transformation has successfully built a bridge between pathological patent and enterprises,which can effectively promote the transformation of pathology-related patents,and promote a deep integration between medicine and engineering.It also can accelerate the application of innovational technique in pathological field,and the connection between product's development stage and related enterprises,and can construct a harmonious development environment for transformation and innovation of medical-industrial integration.

Objective To explore the correlation between triglyceride-glucose(TyG)index and hyperuricemia in men with normal fasting blood glucose(FPG)levels.Methods A total of 309 men with normal FPG who participated in a health examination at the Ninth Medical Center of the People's Liberation Army General Hospital in April 2024 were enrolled in this study.All the subjects were divided into the normal uric acid(NUA,n=218)group and the hyperuricemia(HUA,n=91)group according to serum uric acid(SUA)levels.Results Scr,TG,weight,SBP,DBP,BMI,ALT,AST,γ-GGT,and TyG index were higher in the HUA group than in the NUA group(P<0.05).Pearson and Spearman correlation analysis showed that SUA were positively correlated with Scr,eGFR,TG,weight,SBP,DBP,BMI,ALT,AST,γ-GGT and TyG(P<0.05),and negatively correlated with HDL-C(P<0.05).Logistic regression analysis showed that after adjusting for confounding factors,TyG index remained an important influencing factor for HUA.ROC curve analysis showed that the area under the ROC curve of TyG index predicting hyperuricemia in men with normal FPG was 0.665,with an cutoff value of 8.45.Conclusions TyG index in men with normal FPG are influencing factors for hyperuricemia,indicating that hyperuricemia has a close association with insulin resistance,and is an important component of metabolic syndrome.
