Objective:
To understand the changing trends and related factors of knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP) regarding the three major infectious diseases (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, tuberculosis, hepatitis B) among freshmen in Jiangsu from 2019 to 2022, so as to provide a reference basis for the health education of infectious diseases in schools.
Methods:
From 2019 to 2022, a total of 33 944 freshmen from 20 universities in Jiangsu Province were randomly selected for four consecutive years to investigate their KAP levels online through self designed questionnaires on three major infectious diseases. The multiple linear regression model was used to analyze the changing trends of students KAP levels of the three major infectious diseases, and to explore the influencing factors of KAP.
Results:
From 2019 to 2022, the knowledge scores(18.0±3.1,18.4±3.2,18.7±3.2,18.8±3.2), related to the three major infectious diseases showed an upward trend ( F=436.50, P <0.01), and the positive attitude reporting rates were 81.77%, 81.46%, 82.68% and 81.74%, respectively. The reporting rates of positive practice were 80.11%, 79.25%, 79.08 % and 79.04%, respectively. Multiple linear regression showed that school type, parental education level, mother s occupation, average income per person in family and living arrangements during high school all had an impact on the knowledge ( β = -1.510 -0.559), attitudes ( β =-0.043-0.065) and practice ( β =-0.028-0.027) of the three major infectious diseases ( P < 0.05 ). The family residence areas only affected the reporting rate of positive attitude scores ( β =0.002-0.065), and whether only children or not affected the reporting rate of positive practice scores ( β =0.009)( P <0.05). The knowledge score showed an upward trend ( β= 0.297, P <0.01), the positive attitude reporting rate showed no statistically significant change ( β=0.001, P =0.22), and the positive practice reporting rate showed a downward trend ( β=-0.005, P <0.01).
Conclusions
Freshman in Jiangsu Province from 2019 to 2022 have shown a separation in KAP scores regarding the three major infectious diseases. Targeted measures should be taken to improve their health practice level.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a range of neurodevelopmental diseases characterized by social dysfunction and stereotypic behaviors. The etiology of ASD remains largely unexplored, resulting in a diverse array of described clinical manifestations and varying degrees of severity. Currently, there are no drugs approved by a supervisory organization that can effectively treat the core symptoms of ASD. Childhood and adolescence are crucial stages for making significant achievements in ASD treatment, necessitating the development of drugs specifically for these periods. Based on the drug targets and mechanisms of action, it can be found that atypical psychotropic medications, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant medications, hormonal medications, ion channel medications, and gastrointestinal medications have shown significant improvement in treating the core symptoms of ASD in both children and adolescents. In addition, comparisons of drugs within the same category regarding efficacy and safety have been made to identify better alternatives and promote drug development. While further evaluation of the effectiveness and safety of these medications is needed, they hold great potential for widespread application in the clinical treatment of the principal symptoms of ASD.

Objective:
We previously found that the incidence of sarcopenia increased with declining glucose metabolism of muscle in patients with treatment-naïve diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). This study aimed to investigate the relationship between sarcopenia and muscle glucometabolism using 18 F-FDG PET/CT at baseline and end-of-treatment, analyze the changes in these parameters through treatment, and assess their prognostic values.
Materials and Methods:
The records of 103 patients with DLBCL (median 54 years [range, 21–76]; male:female, 50:53) were retrospectively reviewed. Skeletal muscle area at the third lumbar vertebral (L3) level was measured, and skeletal muscle index (SMI) was calculated to determine sarcopenia, defined as SMI < 44.77 cm 2 /m 2 and < 32.50 cm 2 /m 2 for male and female, respectively. Glucometabolic parameters of the psoas major muscle, including maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) and mean standardized uptake value (SUVmean), were measured at L3 as well. Their changes across treatment were also calculated as ΔSMI, ΔSUVmax, and ΔSUVmean; Δbody mass index was also calculated. Associations between SMI and the metabolic parameters were analyzed, and their associations with progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) were identified.
Results:
The incidence of sarcopenia was 29.1% and 36.9% before and after treatment, respectively. SMI (P = 0.004) was lower, and sarcopenia was more frequent (P = 0.011) at end-of-treatment than at baseline. The SUVmax and SUVmean of muscle were lower (P < 0.001) in sarcopenia than in non-sarcopenia at both baseline and end-of-treatment. ΔSMI was positively correlated with ΔSUVmax of muscle (P = 0.022). Multivariable Cox regression analysis showed that sarcopenia at end-of-treatment was independently negatively associated with PFS (adjusted hazard ratio [95% confidence interval], 2.469 [1.022–5.965]), while sarcopenia at baseline was independently negatively associated with OS (5.051 [1.453–17.562]).
Conclusion
Sarcopenic patients had lower muscle glucometabolism, and the muscular and metabolic changes across treatment were positively correlated. Sarcopenia at baseline and end-of-treatment was negatively associated with the prognosis of DLBCL.

Journal of Army Medical University 2024;46(4):384-390
Objective To analyze the influence of drainage volume on prognosis of acute hydrocephalus(AHC)after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage(aSAH)by continuous lumbar drainage. Methods A retrospective trial was conducted on 82 AHC patients after aSAH admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University between January 2017 and January 2022.In 6 months after discharge, modified Rankin Scale(mRS)score was used to evaluate the prognostic outcomes.Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed on demographic factors, severity of subarachnoid hemorrhage(SAH)at admission, medical history, cerebral vasospasm, and lumbar drainage data. Then a nomogram prediction model was constructed. Results Univariate analysis found that World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies(WFNS)score,Hunt-Hess grade, modified Fisher grade, time for continuous lumbar drainage, shunt dependence, cerebral vasospasm, and drainage volume were factors affecting the prognosis of the patients. Then logistic regression analysis revealed that high WFNS score(OR:3.25,95%CI:1.11~9.48),high modified Fisher grade(OR:3.66,95%CI:1.08~12.35),shunt dependence(OR:15.56,95%CI:1.22~198.57),and cerebral vasospasm(OR:22.24,95%CI:3.08~160.68)were independent predictors for mRS score, while volume of continuous lumbar drainage(OR:0.57,95%CI:0.40~0.82)was an independent protective factor.ROC curve analysis indicated a good predictive performance of the model(AUC=0.898,95%CI:0.935~0.861).Internal validation through Bootstrap method demonstrated excellent discriminatory ability of the model(C-index=0.950,95%CI:0.904~0.996;adjusted C-index:0.934).Conclusion Increased volume of lumbar drainage is an independent protective factor for poor prognosis following aSAH and can improve the prognosis of SAH patients.
