AIM:To investigate the effect of apoptosis stimulation protein 2(ASPP2)on the development of traumatic proliferative vitreoretinopathy(PVR)in a rabbit model.METHODS:A total of 30 New Zealand white rabbits were selected, and the right eyes of all rabbits were inflicted with a scleral penetrating wound of approximately 6 mm. Then rabbits were randomly and evenly divided into experimental and control group. The experimental group received an intravitreal injection of 0.1 mL of ARPE-19 cell suspension transfected with lentivirus-ASPP2, while the control group received an intravitreal injection of 0.1 mL of ARPE-19 cell suspension transfected with negative control lentivirus. At 1, 2, 3, and 4 wk after PVR modeling, a handheld tonometer was used to measure the intraocular pressure. Moreover, fundus photography and ocular ultrasound examination were performed to detect the retinal proliferation. At 4 wk after modeling, hematoxylin-eosin staining was used to observe the morphological retinal changes, and Western blot was used to determine the protein expressions of ASPP2 and the epithelial-mesenchymal transition(EMT)marker Vimentin in the rabbit retinas.RESULTS:At 1, 2, 3, and 4 wk after modeling, there were no significant changes in intraocular pressure within the experimental and control group of rabbit eyes, either before or after PVR modeling, the success rate of PVR modeling in the experimental group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05), and the retinal proliferation and structural disorder was less severe in the experimental group. At 4 wk after modeling, the retinal protein expression level of ASPP2 in the experimental group was significantly higher than that in the control group(t=3.193, P=0.033), while the Vimentin protein expression level was significantly lower in the experimental group(t=-3.599, P=0.023).CONCLUSION:ASPP2 may be involved in regulating the process of EMT in retinal pigment epithelial cells, thereby delaying the development and progression of traumatic PVR in rabbit eyes.

Objective To investigate the relationship between the comorbidity of dyslipidemia, hypertension and diabetes and lifestyle of adult residents in Hebei Province in 2018, and to provide reference for the development of chronic diseases prevention measures. Methods Using data from the surveillance of chronic diseases and their risk factors among adults in Hebei in 2018, 7 711 permanent residents aged ≥18 years were selected as the research subjects. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the relationship between the comorbidity of dyslipidemia, hypertension, and diabetes and lifestyle in adult residents. Results A total of 7 711 subjects aged ≥18 years were included in 2018. The comorbidity rates of hypertension and dyslipidemia, diabetes and dyslipidemia, and hypertension and diabetes were 16.88%, 7.91%, and 8.13%, respectively. The comorbidity rate of hypertension, diabetes, and dyslipidemia was 22.65%. These comorbidity rates increased with age and BMI. Multivariate logistic regression results showed that male, age, overweight/obesity, physical inactivity, daily sedentary behavior time ≥5 hours, and sleep problems were risk factors for the comorbidity of the "three highs". Conclusion The prevalence of the "three highs" comorbidities is relatively high in Hebei Province, and there are multiple common risk factors. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle and implementing comprehensive prevention and control measures are the key to improving the health level of residents.

Objective To investigate the influencing factors of stroke patients with hypertension and their compliance with antihypertensive drugs, and to provide targeted intervention measures for stroke prevention in hypertensive patients. Methods Using the method of multi-stage cluster sampling, a total of 59,434 permanent residents aged 40 and above were selected from 48 monitoring sites in 9 cities of Hebei Province from December 2019 to December 2020. Unconditional logistic regression analysis was used to explore the influencing factors of stroke complicated with hypertension and the compliance of patients with antihypertensive drugs. Results Among the 59 434 subjects, the prevalence rate of stroke was 4.33% and the prevalence rate of stroke complicated with hypertension was 82.47%. The results of univariate analysis showed that the proportion of women, rural areas, dyslipidemia, diabetes, obesity, and people with family history of stroke was higher in stroke patients with hypertension, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that rural areas, dyslipidemia, diabetes, obesity, and family history of stroke significantly increased the risk of stroke, and the OR (95%CI) values were 1.29 (1.03-1.62), 1.39 (1.12-1.72), 1.58 (1.25-1.99), 1.61 (1.22-2.12) and 1.60 (1.26-2.04), respectively. Among stroke patients with hypertension, 92.71% of patients took antihypertensive drugs. It was found that women's compliance with antihypertensive drugs was good, with an OR (95%CI) value of 1.46 (1.01-2.09). Conclusion The prevalence rate of stroke complicated with hypertension is high in people aged 40 and above in Hebei Province. Hypertensive people should lower blood lipids, control blood glucose, and lose weight as soon as possible to prevent the occurrence of stroke.

Objective:To investigate the efficacy and safety of electric microneedling combined with recombinant collagen liquid dressing, compound glycyrrhizin tablets, and hydrocortisone butyrate ointment for the treatment of mild to moderate alopecia areata in children. Methods:This is a prospective study. A total of 72 children with mild to moderate alopecia areata, admitted to the Department of Dermatology, Zunyi Maternal and Child Health Hospital from November 2023 to June 2024, were included in this study. The children were randomly assigned to either the experimental group, which received electric microneedling combined with treatment, or the control group, which received treatment without microneedling, based on the order of their visits. All patients received oral compound glycyrrhizin tablets and topical hydrocortisone butyrate ointment for treatment. In the experimental group, electric microneedling was used to puncture the alopecia lesions while simultaneously applying recombinant collagen liquid dressing. The control group did not receive electric microneedling treatment and only had the recombinant collagen liquid dressing applied to the lesions. The treatment lasted for 12 weeks. The efficacy and incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. After treatment, all patients were followed up for 3 months to check for any recurrence of this condition. Results:There was no significant difference in response rate between the experimental and control groups [81.58% (31/38) vs. 73.53% (25/34), χ2 = 0.67, P = 0.412). No significant difference in cure rate was observed between the experimental and control groups [57.89% (22/38) vs. 47.06% (16/34), χ2= 0.85, P = 0.358]. The time to effect in the experimental group was shorter than that in the control group [(3.16 ± 0.73) weeks vs. (4.60 ± 1.08) weeks, t = 5.15, P < 0.001]. The incidence of adverse reactions did not differ significantly between the experimental and control groups [7.89% (3/38) vs. 0, Fisher value = 0.24, P = 0.242]. There was no significant difference in recurrence rate between experimental and control groups [6.45% (2/31) vs. 12.00% (3/25), χ2 = 0.06, P = 0.801). Conclusions:The combination of electric microneedling, recombinant collagen liquid dressing, compound glycyrrhizin tablets, and hydrocortisone butyrate ointment provides a rapid onset of effect and is safe and effective for the treatment of mild to moderate alopecia areata in children.
