Journal of Public Health and Preventive Medicine 2026;37(1):112-115
Objective To investigate the depressive state of patients with Parkinson's disease (PD), and to analyze the correlation of depressive state with autonomic dysfunction. Methods A total of 327 patients with PD in the hospital were selected from March 2022 to March 2024. The depressive state was evaluated by Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD). The autonomic nerve function was assessed using the Scale for Outcomes in PD for Autonomic Symptoms (SCOPA-AUT) and heart rate variability [standard deviation of sinus RR interval (SDNN), standard deviation of average sinus RR interval (SDANN), and percentage of successive NN interval differences above 50 ms (pNN50)]. According to the positive depression (HAMD>20 points), the patients were divided into a depression group and a non-depression group. The clinical data and autonomic nerve function indicators were compared between the two groups. Pearson correlation coefficient analysis was performed to analyze the correlation between depressive state and autonomic dysfunction in PD patients. Results The positive rate of depression in patients with PD was 31.19%. There were 102 patients in the depression group and 225 patients in the non-depression group. The years of education and the proportion of mild Hoehn-Yahr stage (H-Y stage) in the depression group were lower than those in the non-depression group, while the disease course was longer, and the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS) II score and UPDRS III score were higher than those in the non-depression group (P<0.05). The SCOPA-AUT score in the depression group was higher while the SDNN, SDANN and pNN50 were lower compared to the non-depression group (P<0.05). HAMD score was positively correlated with SCOPA-AUT score (r=0.685), and was negatively correlated with SDNN, SDANN and pNN50 (r=-0.578, -0.685, and -0.439) (P<0.05). Conclusion Depression is a common state among patients with PD, and its level is positively correlated with the severity of autonomic dysfunction in patients.

OBJECTIVE:
To investigate the diagnostic efficacy of 99mTc-MDP three-phase bone scintigraphy (TPBS) combined with C-reactive protein (CRP) for periprosthetic joint infection (PJI).
METHODS:
The clinical data of 198 patients who underwent revision surgery of artificial joint between January 2017 and January 2024 and received TPBS examination before surgery were retrospectively analyzed. There were 77 males and 121 females with an average age of 63.74 years ranging from 24 to 92 years. There were 90 cases of hip arthroplasty and 108 cases of knee arthroplasty. PJI was diagnosed according to the 2013 American Musculoskeletal Infection Society (MSIS) standard diagnostic criteria. The sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, negative predictive value (NPV), and positive predict value (PPV) were calculated. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was used to compare the diagnostic performance of the three methods, and the area under curve (AUC) was used to evaluate the diagnostic performance.
RESULTS:
According to the 2013 MSIS criteria, 116 cases were diagnosed as PJI, and the remaining 82 cases were aseptic loosening. The cases of PJI diagnosed by TPBS, CRP, and TPBS-CRP were 125, 109, and 137 respectively, and the cases of aseptic loosening were 73, 89, and 61 respectively. The sensitivity, accuracy, NPV, and PPV of TPBS-CRP combination in the diagnosis of PJI were higher than those of TPBS and CRP, but the specificity was lower than that of TPBS and CRP. ROC curve analysis further showed that the AUC value of TPBS-CRP combination was better than that of TPBS and CRP. The severity of bone defect and the duration of symptoms in patients with false positive TPBS diagnosis were worse than those in patients with true negative TPBS diagnosis (P<0.05), but there was no significant difference in the survival time of prosthesis between the two groups (P>0.05). Among the patients diagnosed with PJI by TPBS, CRP, and TPBS-CRP, 49, 35, and 54 patients had received antibiotic treatment 2 weeks before diagnosis, respectively. There was no significant difference in the diagnostic accuracy of TPBS and TPBS-CRP before diagnosis between patients treated with and without antibiotics and those not treated (P>0.05). The diagnostic accuracy of antibiotic therapy before CRP diagnosis was significantly lower than that of untreated patients (P<0.05).
CONCLUSION
TPBS and CRP have limited specificity in differentiating PJI from aseptic loosening. The TPBS-CRP combination diagnostic method can synergize the local bone metabolic characteristics and systemic inflammatory response to achieve higher diagnostic accuracy, but caution should be exercised in patients with severe bone defects and longer symptom duration.

Chinese Journal of Lung Cancer 2025;28(9):667-679
BACKGROUND:
Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) remains one of the leading causes of cancer morbidity and mortality worldwide, and its initiation and progression are closely associated with the tumor immune microenvironment. Increasing evidence suggests that environmental exposure is a critical factor influencing lung cancer development. Among these factors, fine particulate matter (PM2.5), a major component of air pollution, has been strongly linked to elevated lung cancer risk and unfavorable prognosis. However, the underlying immunoregulatory mechanisms by which PM2.5 drives LUAD progression remain poorly understood. Tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs), especially those polarized toward the M2 phenotype, are key components of the tumor microenvironment and play crucial roles in tumor growth, angiogenesis, and immune evasion. This study aims to investigate the effects of PM2.5 exposure on TAMs and to identify the key pro-tumorigenic factors mediating this process.
METHODS:
A mouse orthotopic lung cancer model under PM2.5 exposure was established to assess lung tumor growth and macrophage phenotypic alterations using in vivo imaging and flow cytometry. A subcutaneous tumor model involving co-inoculated macrophages and tumor cells was used to further verify the effects of PM2.5 on the function of TAMs and tumor malignancy. Combining in vitro experiments, flow cytometry, Western blot, reverse transcription quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR), cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8) assay, colony formation assay, and wound healing assay were employed to evaluate the regulatory effects of PM2.5 on the polarization of bone marrow-derived macrophages (BMDMs) as well as tumor cell proliferation, migration, and colony-forming ability. Transcriptome sequencing integrated with TISIDB (Tumor-immune System Interactions Database) and GEPIA (Gene Expression Profiling Interactive Analysis) databases was performed to identify key cytokines for further functional validation.
RESULTS:
In the mouse orthotopic lung cancer model, PM2.5 exposure significantly promoted tumor growth and increased the proportion of M2-type TAMs (P<0.05). Subcutaneous co-inoculation with PM2.5-treated BMDMs markedly enhanced tumor proliferation and elevated the intratumoral M2-type TAMs. PM2.5-pretreated BMDMs exhibited an immunosuppressive programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1)+/arginase 1 (Arg1)+ phenotype, and their conditioned media significantly promoted proliferation, migration, and colony formation of Lewis lung carcinoma cells (LLC) and B16 melanoma cells (B16) (P<0.05). Transcriptome analysis revealed that PM2.5 substantially altered macrophage gene expression, with IL-1α identified as a key upregulated secreted cytokine enriched in immunosuppressive related signaling pathways. Clinical database analyses further indicated that IL-1α expression was positively correlated with macrophage and regulatory T cells (Treg) infiltration in the LUAD immune microenvironment, and that high IL-1α expression was associated with worse overall survival in LUAD patients (HR=1.5, P=0.0053). Western blot, RT-qPCR, and immunofluorescence confirmed that PM2.5 exposure significantly upregulated IL-1α expression and secretion in TAMs.
CONCLUSIONS
PM2.5 exposure facilitates LUAD progression by inducing an immunosuppressive phenotype in macrophages and enhancing the malignant behaviors of tumor cells. Mechanistically, IL-1α may serve as a key pro-tumorigenic cytokine secreted by macrophages under PM2.5 exposure. This study provides new insights into the pathogenesis of PM2.5-associated LUAD and suggests that IL-1α could serve as a potential therapeutic target.

BACKGROUND:
Children's respiratory health demonstrates particular sensitivity to air pollution. Existing evidence investigating the association between short-term ozone (O3) exposure and childhood pneumonia remains insufficient and inconsistent, especially in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
METHOD:
To provide more reliable and persuasive evidence, we implemented a multi-city, time-stratified case-crossover design with a large sample size, using data from seven representative children's hospitals across major geographical regions in China. To avoid the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, individual-level medical records of inpatient children under 6 years of age diagnosed with pneumonia during 2016-2019 were collected. Conditional logistic regression models were fitted for each city, and city-specific estimates were pooled through a meta-analysis using a random-effects model.
RESULTS:
In total, the study included 137,470 pediatric pneumonia hospital admissions. The highest pooled estimate for O3 occurred at lag0-1, with a 10 µg/m3 increase in O3 associated with a 1.57% (95% CI: 0.67%-2.48%) higher risk of pediatric pneumonia hospital admissions. Stratified analyses indicated that the effects of O3 were robust across different sexes, age groups, and admission seasons. We also observed a statistically significant increase in risk associated with O3 concentrations exceeding the World Health Organization Air Quality Guidelines (WHO-AQGs).
CONCLUSIONS
This study revealed a significant positive association between O3 and pediatric pneumonia hospital admissions. Our findings substantially strengthen the evidence base for the adverse health impacts of O3, underscoring the importance of O3 pollution control and management in reducing the public health burden of pediatric pneumonia.

Objective:To understand the current status of health management cognition and healthcare behaviors of community residents in Shanghai, and to analyze their related influencing factors, in order to promote the optimization of proactive health-oriented health management strategies. Methods:This study was a cross-sectional survey. From February to May 2023, 1-4 community health service centers were randomly selected from each administrative district in Shanghai by stratified random sampling using the random number table method. Ultimately, 28 community health service centers were selected as research sites. The research team then used convenience sampling method to select at least 50 patients as research subjects from those visiting each selected center. A total of 1 436 community residents were included in this study in the form of on-site completion of questionnaire stars, and the study covered the residents′ level of health management cognition, chronic disease management, intention to seek medical care, physical examination behavior, and handling of abnormal values. Multiple regression analysis was used to assess the correlation between health management cognition and medical consultation behavior and their influencing factors. Results:The results of the health management awareness survey showed that 827 residents (57.6%) had a relatively high level of awareness. Among the 755 residents (52.6%) with chronic diseases, the proportion of self-assessed stable control was significantly higher in the high-cognition group (318 (76.0%)) than that in the low-cognition group (223 (66.2%)), and the difference was statistically significant ( χ2=9.01, P=0.003). Multiple regression analysis showed that females ( OR=1.293, 95% CI: 1.028-1.627),≤44 years old and 45-59 years old ( OR=2.328, 95% CI: 1.648-2.328; OR=1.351, 95% CI: 1.035-1.763), bachelor′s degree or above ( OR=1.784, 95% CI: 1.256-2.534), living in suburban area ( OR=1.577, 95% CI: 1.235-2.014), use of employee health insurance and resident health insurance ( OR=2.294, 95% CI: 1.629-3.232; OR=1.628, 95% CI: 1.149-2.306), suffering from a chronic disease ( OR=3.110, 95% CI: 1.918-5.042), and having a contracted family doctor ( OR=1.870, 95% CI: 1.431-2.442) were all positive correlation with health management perception(all P<0.05). In terms of health care behavior, 908 (63.2%) residents showed a high active intention to seek medical care, and 906 (63.1%) and 796 (55.4%) residents showed active participation in medical check-ups and timely handling of medical check-up abnormal values, respectively. Residents in the high awareness group were significantly better than those in the low awareness group in terms of intention to seek medical care ( χ2=33.26), mode of medical checkups ( χ2=110.71), frequency of medical checkups ( χ2=45.37), and the way of dealing with abnormal values after medical checkups ( χ2=93.14), with the difference being statistically significant(all P<0.05). The results of linear regression analysis of the factors influencing the medical behavior of community residents showed that age≤44 and 45-59 ( B=0.479, 0.167), high school and specialist versus bachelor′s degree and above ( B=0.465, 0.739), use of employee medical insurance and residents′ health insurance ( B=0.604, 0.420), the number of current chronic diseases 1 ( B=0.919) and contracted family doctor ( B=0.134) of community residents′ health care behaviors are better (all P<0.05). Conclusions:The level of community residents′ health management cognition needs to be improved, and high health management cognition can significantly promote proactive healthcare-seeking behavior. However, residents′ medical behavior is still influenced by multidimensional factors. Signing a contract with a family doctor is significantly associated with high cognition and quality healthcare behaviors.

Sichuan Mental Health 2025;38(4):295-301
BackgroundExecutive function deficits constitute a core problem in attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Previous assessments of executive function in children with ADHD have predominantly relied on performance-based neuropsychological tests conducted in laboratory settings, though their predictive validity for real-world functional outcomes remains limited. In contrast, ecological executive function emphasizes the evaluation of complex task management in naturalistic contexts, demonstrating a stronger predictive power for functional adaptation in daily living among children with ADHD, such as multitasking performance, social interactions and so on. However, current empirical evidence regarding ecological executive function in this population remains insufficient. ObjectiveTo investigate the executive function characteristics of children with ADHD from an ecological perspective, thereby providing references for developing targeted interventions. MethodsA case control study was conducted, including 277 ADHD children who met the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, fourth edition (DSM-IV) criteria and were selected at the Child Health Care and Mental Health Center of Shenzhen Children's Hospital from June 2017 to December 2020, as well as 98 healthy controls were recruited from primary and secondary schools in Shenzhen. All participants were assessed using Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children, fourth edition (WISC-IV) and Behavior Rating Inventory of Executive Function (BRIEF). Differences in WISC-IV and BRIEF scores were compared between ADHD group and control groups, followed by the comparison of BRIEF scores by gender and ADHD subtypes. ResultsAmong the 277 children with ADHD, 136 cases (49.10%) had predominantly inattentive type (ADHD-I), 6 cases (2.17%) had predominantly hyperactive-impulsive type (ADHD-HI), and 135 cases (48.73%) had combined type (ADHD-C). ADHD group demonstrated significantly lower scores on both the WISC-IV total IQ and four index scores (verbal comprehension, perceptual reasoning, working memory and processing speed) than control group (t=3.698~9.335, P<0.01). After controlling for WISC-IV total IQ as a covariate, the scores of each factor in the dimensions of behavioral regulation index (inhibition, shifting, emotional control) and metacognition index (task initiation, working memory, planning, monitoring and organization) were all higher in ADHD group than in control group, and the differences were statistically significant (F=46.563~290.475, P<0.01). In terms of gender, no statistically significant difference was found in BRIEF composite scores (behavioral regulation index or metacognition index) of children with ADHD (t=0.105~1.190, P>0.05). In terms of ADHD subtypes, children with ADHD-C reported significantly higher scores than those with ADHD-I on the scores of inhibition, emotional control, organization and monitoring in BRIEF (t=2.481~7.343, P<0.05 or 0.01). ConclusionChildren with ADHD have multidimensional deficits in ecological executive function, which vary across different subtypes. ObjectiveThis paper aims to verify the therapeutic effect of Cranial Painkiller pills' extract powder prepared by the new process on the rat's trigeminal neuralgia model caused by infraorbital injection of Talci Pulvis, evaluate its potential clinical application value, and compare the therapeutic effect with that of Cranial Painkiller granules, so as to provide data support for the application of the Cranial Painkiller pills' extract powder and precise treatment. MethodsThe rat's trigeminal neuralgia model was constructed by infraorbital injection of Talci Pulvis, and the rats were randomly divided into the normal group, model group, carbamazepine group (60 mg·kg-1), Cranial Painkiller granules group (2.70 g·kg-1), and low, medium, and high dosage groups of Cranial Painkiller pills' extract powder (1.35, 2.70, 5.40 g·kg-1) according to the basal mechanical pain thresholds, and there were 10 rats in each group. The drug was administered by gavage to each group 2 h after modeling, and distilled water was given by gavage to the normal and model groups under the same conditions once a day for 10 d. Von Frey brushes were used to measure mechanical pain thresholds in rats. Hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining was used to detect pathological changes in the trigeminal ganglion, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to detect the inflammatory factors interleukin-1 (IL-1), interleukin-6 (IL-6), interleukin-8 (IL-8), and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) levels in rat serum, as well as neuropeptide substance P (SP) and β-endorphin (β-EP) levels in rat brain tissue. Western blot technique was used to detect the levels of NLRP3, ASC, Caspase-1, and OTULIN proteins in rat brain tissue. ResultsCompared with the normal group, the pain threshold of rats in the model group showed a continuous significant decrease (P<0.01). The pathological damage of brain tissue was significant (P<0.01), and the inflammatory levels of IL-1, IL-6, IL-8, and TNF-α in serum were significantly elevated (P<0.01). The level of the SP in the brain tissue was significantly elevated (P<0.01), and the level of β-EP was significantly reduced (P<0.01), while the level of OTULIN was significantly reduced, and NLRP3, ASC, and Caspase-1 protein levels were significantly elevated (P<0.01). After administration of the drug, compared with the model group, the pain threshold of each dose group of the Cranial Painkiller pills' extract powder and the Cranial Painkiller granules group significantly increased (P<0.01). The inflammatory levels of IL-1, IL-6, IL-8, and TNF-α and SP levels significantly decreased (P<0.01), and the β-EP levels were significantly elevated (P<0.01), while the levels of OTULIN protein were significantly elevated (P<0.05, P<0.01), and the levels of NLRP3, ASC proteins were decreased (P<0.01)in high dose Cranial Painkiller pills' extract powder. Meanwhile, compared with those in the model group, the trigeminal ganglion lesions of rats in the Cranial Painkiller pills' extract powder and Cranial Painkiller granules groups showed different degrees of improvement (P<0.05, P<0.01). ConclusionThe Cranial Painkiller pills' extract powder has significant therapeutic effects on the rat model of trigeminal neuralgia induced by infraorbital injection of Talci Pulvis, and its mechanism is related to the improvement of OTULIN-regulated neuroinflammation.

ObjectiveTo investigate the protective effect and mechanism of verbenalin on mouse mononuclear macrophage leukemia cells (RAW264.7) damaged by human coronavirus (HCoV)-229E infection, thereby providing experimental evidence for its development and application. MethodsRAW264.7 macrophages were infected with different concentrations of HCoV-229E to establish a coronavirus-induced macrophage injury model using the cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8) assay for assessing cell proliferation and viability. Cells were randomly divided into four groups: normal control, verbenalin group (125 μmol·L-1), model group (HCoV-229E), and HCoV-229E + verbenalin group (HCoV-229E + 125 μmol·L-1 verbenalin). Cell viability was measured using the CCK-8 assay, and the maximum non-toxic concentration (CC0), half-maximal cytotoxic concentration (CC50), half-maximal effective concentration (EC50), and selectivity index (SI) of verbenalin were calculated. Calcein/PI double staining was used to assess cell viability and cytotoxicity, and JC-1 staining was applied to evaluate changes in mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP). mito-Keima adenovirus labeling was used to assess mitophagy levels in each group. ResultsA macrophage infection model was successfully established by infecting RAW264.7 cells with the original concentration of HCoV-229E for 36 h. The CC0 of verbenalin was 125 μmol·L-1. The CC50 was 448.25 μmol·L-1. The EC50 against HCoV-229E-infected cells was 46.28 μmol·L-1, and the SI was 9.68. Compared with the normal group, the model group showed significantly reduced cell survival rate (P<0.01), increased cell death rate (P<0.01), decreased MMP (P<0.01), and suppressed mitophagy (P<0.01). In contrast, verbenalin treatment significantly improved cell survival rate (P<0.01), reduced cell death rate (P<0.01), alleviated MMP loss (P<0.01), and enhanced mitophagy levels (P<0.01) compared with the model group. ConclusionVerbenalin can enhance the survival rate of macrophages following HCoV-229E infection. The underlying mechanism may be associated with the activation of mitophagy, maintenance of MMP stability, and alleviation of mitochondrial damage.

ObjectiveThis paper aims to investigate the therapeutic effects of Jidesheng Sheyao tablets on varicella-zoster virus (VZV) and its associated postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) to provide experimental evidence for the clinical application and secondary development of Jidesheng Sheyao tablets. MethodsFifty-six guinea pigs were randomly divided into seven groups according to their body weight, namely the normal group, the model group, the positive control group, the high-dose group, medium-dose group, and low-dose group of Jidesheng Sheyao tablets (1.92, 0.96, 0.48 g·d-1), and the group treated with oral administration combined with topical application of Jidesheng Sheyao tablets (0.96 g·d-1 + 1.2 g·kg-1·d-1). The skin on the back of the guinea pigs in each group was depilated and then abraded with sandpaper. Except for the normal group, 200 μL of VZV solution was dropped on the damaged parts of the back of the guinea pigs in the other groups, and the infection lasted for 2 consecutive days. The drug administration started 2 hours after the infection on the first day and lasted for 7 days. The pathological changes of the back of the guinea pigs in each group were observed every day starting from the second day after the infection. On the 7th day, the guinea pigs were sacrificed by CO2 anesthesia. The locally infected skin was taken, and the viral DNA nucleic acid load was detected by real-time polymerase chain reaction (Real-time PCR). The pathological histology examination was carried out after hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining. Seventy rats were randomly divided into seven groups according to their body weight, namely the normal group, the model group, the positive control group, the high-dose group, medium-dose group, and low-dose group of Jidesheng Sheyao tablets (1.08, 0.54, 0.27 g·d-1), and the group treated with oral administration combined with topical application of Jidesheng Sheyao tablets (0.54 g·d-1 + 1.2 g·kg-1·d-1). The rats in each group (except the normal group) were subcutaneously inoculated with 50 μL of VZV suspension between the web of the first and second fingers of the left forelimb. The skin on the back of the rats was depilated, and the drug administration started 2 hours after the infection and lasted for 10 days. The mechanical withdrawal threshold of the paws of the rats was detected by a Von Frey filament algometer before inoculation and on the 1st, 3rd, 6th, 8th, and 10th days after inoculation, and the thermal withdrawal reflex latency of the paws of the rats was detected by a hot and cold plate algometer. On the 10th day after the virus inoculation, the rats were anesthetized after the behavioral examination, and the dorsal root ganglia of the spinal cord and spinal cord segments were taken. The contents of substance P (SP), neurokinin (NK), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), and interleukin-1β (IL-1β) in the dorsal root ganglia of the spinal cord and spinal cord were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). ResultsCompared with those in the normal group, the guinea pigs in the model group had obvious skin herpes lesions (P<0.01). The viral nucleic acid load was high (P<0.01), and there were disorganized subcutaneous cellular structures and obvious infiltration of inflammatory cells and cell necrosis (P<0.01). The mechanical withdrawal threshold of the paws and the thermal withdrawal reflex latency of the paws of the rats were significantly decreased (P<0.05), and the contents of NK, SP, TNF-α, and IL-1β in the dorsal root ganglia of the spinal cord and spinal cord of the rats were significantly increased (P<0.01). Compared with the model group, the high-dose and medium-dose groups of topical administration of Jidesheng Sheyao tablets and the group of oral administration combined with topical application could significantly improve the lesions such as skin redness and herpes of the guinea pigs caused by VZV infection (P<0.01), reduce the VZV viral nucleic acid load in the skin tissues of the guinea pigs (P<0.01), alleviate the degree of inflammatory cell infiltration and skin cell necrosis in the skin tissue (P<0.05), significantly increase the mechanical withdrawal threshold of the paws and the thermal withdrawal reflex latency of the paws of the rats (P<0.05), and decrease the contents of NK, SP, TNF-α, and IL-1β in the dorsal root ganglia of the spinal cord and spinal cord of the rats (P<0.01). ConclusionJidesheng Sheyao tablets demonstrated significant therapeutic effects on VZV-induced skin infections and postherpetic neuralgia (PHN), providing a promising candidate for the prevention and treatment of VZV infections.
