ObjectiveTo investigate the mechanism by which Wumeiwan suppresses the development and progression of colorectal cancer（CRC） through the regulation of fatty acid metabolic reprogramming， thereby providing new experimental evidence for the prevention and treatment of CRC. MethodsA total of 120 C57BL/6 mice were randomly divided into the blank group， model group， Wumeiwan high-， medium-， and low-dose groups（54， 27， 13.5 g·kg^-1）， and the mesalazine group（0.01 g·kg^-1）， with 20 mice in each group. Except for the blank group， all mice were subjected to azoxymethane（AOM）/dextran sulfate sodium（DSS） treatment to establish an inflammation-associated CRC model. One week after AOM injection， mice in the treatment groups received intragastric administration of the designated drugs， while the blank and model groups received an equal volume of purified water， continuing until 20 d after the intervention endpoint. Hematoxylin-eosin（HE） staining was used to observe colonic histopathological alterations， and immunohistochemistry for vascular endothelial growth factor（VEGF） was performed to evaluate neovascularization and tumor invasion. Metabolomics combined with Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes（KEGG） and metabolite set enrichment analysis（MSEA） was applied to identify key CRC-related metabolic pathways， which were further validated by transcriptomic Gene Ontology（GO） enrichment and gene heatmap analysis. Subsequently， Western blot was performed to determine the expression levels of core proteins in these pathways， and immunofluorescence was used to analyze their localization and co-expression patterns in tissues， thereby elucidating the mechanism of Wumeiwan from multiple biological dimensions. ResultsCompared with the blank group， mice in the model group exhibited a significant decrease in body weight and a significant increase in the disease activity index（DAI） score（P<0.05）， with pronounced colonic mucosal damage accompanied by aggravated tumor invasion. Compared with the model group， Wumeiwan intervention markedly improved body weight loss and reduced DAI score， attenuated mucosal injury， and significantly decreased VEGF expression level（P<0.05）. Multi-omics analysis revealed that differential metabolites and genes across groups were commonly enriched in fatty acid metabolism， fatty acid biosynthesis， and other lipid-related pathways. Relative to the blank group， the model group showed significant upregulation levels of fatty acid synthesis-related genes， including sterol regulatory element-binding protein 1（SREBP1）， fatty acid synthase（FASN）， stearoyl-CoA desaturase 1（SCD1）， as well as saturated fatty acids（P<0.05）. Compared with the model group， treatment with Wumeiwan significantly reduced the expression of key genes involved in fatty acid metabolic pathways， including SREBP1， FASN， and SCD1（P<0.05）. Western blot results further confirmed that proteins in this pathway were significantly elevated in the model group， whereas they were markedly downregulated following Wumeiwan treatment（P<0.05）. Immunofluorescence analysis demonstrated enhanced co-localization of SREBP1 with the cancer-associated fibroblast（CAF） marker α-smooth muscle actin（SMA） in the model group， whereas this co-localization signal was attenuated after Wumeiwan intervention（P<0.05）. ConclusionWumeiwan can improve survival outcomes and alleviate colonic pathological damage in CRC mice， its therapeutic mechanism may be closely associated with the regulation of fatty acid metabolic reprogramming mediated by the SREBP1/FASN/SCD1 signaling pathway.

This article provides a systematic review of the research progress in the mechanisms related to lung cancer and ferroptosis， ferroptosis-related lung cancer biomarkers and gene mutation targets， and ferroptosis-targeted regulation of Chinese medicine in treating lung cancer in the past five years， providing a feasible and effective basis for the prevention and treatment of lung cancer with Chinese medicine and the development of new drugs. According to the available studies， ferroptosis is widely suppressed in lung cancer， while the specific regulatory mechanisms have not been fully elucidated. The suppression is related to lipid metabolism， iron metabolism， cystine/glutamate antiporter system Xc^- （System Xc^-）/glutathione （GSH）/glutathione peroxidase 4 （GPX4）， ferroptosis suppressor protein 1 （FSP1）/coenzyme Q10 （CoQ10）/nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate ［NAD（P）H］， long non-coding RNA （lncRNA）， nuclear factor E₂-related factor 2 （Nrf2）， and p53. In modern times， traditional Chinese medicine is widely used in the comprehensive treatment of lung cancer， and it has gradually become a hot research topic due to its obvious advantages of anti-tumor activity， high efficacy， and low toxicity. Traditional Chinese medicine plays an important role in the treatment of lung cancer. Studies have shown that the active components， extracts， and prescriptions of Chinese medicine can induce ferroptosis in lung cancer cells through targeted regulation of iron metabolism， lipid metabolism， and p53， Nrf2， LncRNA， and GPX4 pathways to inhibit the growth and proliferation of lung cancer， thus exerting anti-tumor effects. Therefore， regulating ferroptosis is expected to become a new direction for preventing lung cancer. Basic research has shown that Chinese medicine can regulate ferroptosis via multiple targets and pathways in the treatment of lung cancer. At present， Chinese medicine demonstrates great research prospects in regulating ferroptosis to treat lung cancer， which， howeve， still faces challenges to achieve clinical transformation.

Objective: To reveal the molecular biological mechanism of a rare Dc-variant individual using PacBio third-generation sequencing technology. Methods: ABO and Rh blood type identification, DAT, unexpected antibody screening and D antigen enhancement test were conducted by serological testing. The absorption-elution test was used to detect the e antigen. RHCE gene typing was performed by PCR-SSP, and the 1-10 exons of RHCE were sequenced by Sanger sequencing. The full-length sequences of RHCE, RHD and RHAG were detected by PacBio third-generation sequencing technology. Results: Serological findings: Blood type O, Dc-phenotype, DAT negative, unexpected antibody screening negative; enhanced D antigen expression; no detection of e antigen in the absorption-elution test. PCR-SSP genotyping indicated the presence of only the RHCE c allele. Sanger sequencing results: Exons 5-9 of RHCE were deleted, exon 1 had a heterozygous mutation at c. 48G/C, and exon 2 had five heterozygous mutations at c. 150C/T, c. 178C/A, c. 201A/G, c. 203A/G and c. 307C/T. Third-generation sequencing results: RHCE genotype was RHCE 02N. 08/RHCE-D(5-9)-CE; RHD genotype was RHD 01/RHD 01; RHAG genotype was RHAG 01/RHAG 01 (c. 808G>A and c. 861G>A). Conclusion: This Dc-individual carries the allele RHCE 02N. 08 and the novel allele RHCE-D(5-9)-CE. The findings of this study provide data support and a theoretical basis for elucidating the molecular mechanisms underlying RhCE deficiency phenotypes.

Objective:To investigate the changes in the narrow band imaging (NBI) phenotypes of oropharyngeal, hypopharyngeal, and laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma after neoadjuvant immunochemotherapy, and to explore the clinical value of NBI endoscopy in re-evaluation and follow-up of pharyngeal and laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma after neoadjuvant immunochemotherapy.Methods:Twenty-nine patients diagnosed with locally advanced pharyngeal or laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma in the First Affiliated Hospital of Xiamen University from November 2021 to January 2024 and receiving 2 cycles of neoadjuvant immunochemotherapy were selected, including 26 males and 3 females, aged 43-80 years. Regular NBI and white light (WL) endoscopy examinations, as well as imaging examinations such as CT scans, were performed. After the neoadjuvant immunochemotherapy, 36 specimens from suspected lesions of the pharynx or the larynx were obtained through surgical resection. The NBI findings of the pharyngeal or laryngeal lesions and their relationships with corresponding pathological and imaging results were analyzed with kappa test, Pearson correlation analysis, McNemar test, and Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test.Results:After neoadjuvant immunochemotherapy, primary lesions showed pathological complete response (pCR) in 9 cases, partial response (PR) in 19 cases, and progressive disease (PD) in one case. The NBI phenotypes of pharyngeal and laryngeal malignant tumors after treatment showed high consistency (kappa=0.818, P<0.01) and significant correlations ( r=0.852, P<0.01) with their pathological results. WL endoscopic examinations showed inconsistency (kappa=0.239, P=0.12) with their pathological results. NBI endoscopy was more effective in identifying benign lesions after treatment than WL endoscopy ( P=0.031). In cases of both PR and pCR of the primary lesion, there were significant differences in NBI phenotypes before and after neoadjuvant immunochemotherapy (all P<0.05), with phenotypes transitioning to lower malignancy and benign lesions, respectively. Among 19 cases with PR, 16 showed concentric/eccentric regression, and 3 showed multipoint focal regression. NBI endoscopy was more accurate in diagnosing benign or malignant lesions, pCR or PR after treatment compared to CT (all P<0.05). Conclusions:The present NBI microvascular classification of the pharyngeal and laryngeal lesions is still applicable for the diagnosis and evaluation in pharyngeal and laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma after neoadjuvant immunochemotherapy. The changes in NBI phenotypes and ranges can indicate tumor regression, progression, and recurrence. NBI is more accurate in diagnosing pharyngeal and laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma after neoadjuvant immunochemotherapy compared to WL endoscopy and imaging examinations such as CT.

OBJECTIVE To explore the application of tinnitus function index scale(TFI)and tinnitus handicap inventory(THI)in the effect evaluation of subjective tinnitus multiple superposition integrated sound treatment.METHODS A total of 269 subjective tinnitus patients were included in the study.T-MIST was applied to tinnitus patients for fine-tuned matching and sound therapy,and two scales were used to evaluate the therapeutic effect,and the consistency of TFI and THI in the evaluation of the efficacy of multiple superposition integrated sound therapy in subjective tinnitus patients were compared.STATA 17.0 software was used for data analysis.RESULTS There was good consistency between TFI and THI in the evaluation of tinnitus treatment,κ value was 0.650(P<0.001).The positive predictive value of TFI score was 73.7%,the negative predictive value was 91.1%,the sensitivity was 89.1%,and the specificity was 78.0%.TFI and THI were significantly changed before and after treatment(P<0.05).The effective rate of TFI assessment was 49.4%,and the effective rate of THI assessment was 40.9%,and the difference was not statistically significant.In the group with no improvement in THI score,TFI subscales(sense of control,sleep,quality of life)showed a similar improvement trend as that in the effective group(P<0.05).CONCLUSION TFI and THI have good consistency in the evaluation of acoustic therapy efficacy in subjective tinnitus patients,and TFI can more sensitively measure the clinical efficacy of patients from different dimensions,so it is recommended to be used as a tool to evaluate therapeutic efficacy in clinical treatment.

Objective:This study was aimed to evaluate the clinical effectiveness of tympanoplasty using auricular cartilage combined with balloon eustachian tuboplasty for the treatment of adhesive otitis media（adhesive otitis media, AdOM） under endoscopic. Methods:A retrospective analysis was conducted on 60 patients with unilateral adhesive otitis media who visited Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, the First Affiliated Hospital of Xiamen University between January 2017 and February 2022. All patients were divided into three groups: ①conservative treatment group;②simple tympanoplasty group; ③tympanoplasty combined with balloon dilation group（BET group）. All patients were regularly assessed for the improvement of tympanic membrane morphology, hearing, and Eustachian tube function, as well as complications, after treatment. Results:There was no significant improvement in eardrum morphology, hearing, or eustachian tube function in the conservative treatment group（P>0.05）; both the simple tympanoplasty group and the BET group showed significant improvements in eardrum morphology and hearing after surgery（P<0.01）; In terms of Eustachian tube function improvement, the BET group showed significantly greater improvements in Eustachian tube manometry（TMM） and Eustachian Tube Dysfunction Questionnaire（ETDQ-7） scores compared to the tympanoplasty alone group（P<0.01）. Conclusion:Tympanoplasty using auricular cartilage combined with balloon eustachian tuboplasty shows good clinical outcomes in the treatment of adhesive otitis media, significantly ameliorating patients' subjective symptoms such as tinnitus and ear congestion after surgery, thereby improving the patient's quality of life.

ObjectiveTo explore the scientific connotation of fried charcoal survivability of Lonicerae Japonicae Flos（LJF） by analyzing the correlation between the color change and the intrinsic components during the processing of LJF Carbonisata（LJFC）， and taking pH， charcoal adsorption and microscopic characteristics as indexes. MethodLJFC samples with different degrees of processing were prepared according to the stir-frying time of 0.0， 1.5， 3.0， 4.5， 6.0， 7.5， 9.0， 10.5 min（numbered S1-S8）， and the contents of gallic acid， chlorogenic acid， cryptochlorogenic acid， rutin， luteoloside， isochlorogenic acid A and isochlorogenic acid C were determined by high performance liquid chromatography（HPLC）， and the L^*（brightness）， a^*（red-greenness） and b^*（yellow-blueness） of LJFC samples with different degrees of processing were determined by spectrophotometer， and the correlation analysis and principal component analysis（PCA） between the contents of seven representative components and the color of the samples were carried out by SPSS 26. 0 and SIMCA-P 14.1. Then pH， adsorption force and characteristic structure of different samples of LJFC were detected and the processing pattern of LJFC was analyzed. ResultThe results of quantitative analysis revealed that the contents of luteoloside， rutin， chlorogenic acid and isochlorogenic acid A gradually decreased， and the contents of cryptochlorogenic acid， isochlorogenic acid C and gallic acid firstly increased and then decreased. The L^* and b^* of the sample powders decreased， and a^* showed a trend of increasing and then decreasing. The L^* and b^* were positively correlated with the contents of chlorogenic acid， rutin， luteoloside， isochlorogenic acid A， b^* was positively correlated with the content of gallic acid， and a^* was positively correlated with the contents of cryptochlorogenic acid and isochlorogenic acid C. PCA revealed that samples could be clearly divided into 3 groups， S1-S2 as one group， S3-S5 as one group， and S6-S8 as one group， with S3 having the highest score. The results of regression analysis showed that only isochlorogenic acid C could be used to predict the contents of components by colorimetric values combined with regression equations. Physicochemical analysis showed that pH of LJFC increased with the increase of degree of charcoal stir-frying， while adsorption force showed a tendency of increasing and then decreasing， with the highest adsorption force in the S5 sample， and the non-glandular hairs， calcium oxalate clusters and pollen grains had a varying degree of decreasing with the deepening of processing degree， and the microstructures of S6-S8 samples were obviously charred with pollen grains almost invisible. ConclusionThe changes in chemical composition and color characteristics of LJFC during the processing have certain correlations， combined with the changes in physicochemical properties， S5 sample is found to be the optimal processed products， which can provide a reference for the processing standardization and quality evaluation of LJFC， and enrich the scientific connotation of fried charcoal survivability of LJF.

Objective With the assistance of 3D visualization and real-time navigation technologies,the tumors in the parapharyngeal and lateral skull base should be removed through oral the approach with endoscopy.Methods The preoperative CT data of eight patients with parapharyngeal or lateral skull base soft tissue tumors were modeled,and the anatomical position relationship between the tumor and surrounding blood vessels and other important structures was re-constructed using 3D visualization technology,and preop-erative design was performed.The intraoperative oral ap-proach and real-time navigation guidance were adopted in the endoscopic resection of soft tissue tumors in the parapharyngeal and lateral skull base,and the clinical ap-plication value of this method was evaluated.Results The blood loss during the operation was controlled within 150 mL,and the average blood loss was approximately 125 mL.The incidence of postoperative complications was low,and patients could recover well through functional training.The oral approach did not leave any wounds nor scars on the patient's facial skin after the operation and had no effect on the patient's appearance.Conclusion The combination of 3D visualization technology,intraoperative real-time navigation,and endoscopy provides a beautiful,safe,and minimally invasive surgical method for patients with parapharyngeal or lateral skull base tumors.

The incidence of psycho-cardiological diseases， i.e.， cardiovascular diseases combined with psychological disorders， is increasing year by year. Brain-derived neurotrophic factor （BDNF） plays a role in the pathogenesis of such diseases. According to the theory of collateral diseases， our team innovates the concept of regulating mental activity by dredging collaterals in the treatment of psycho-cardiological diseases and summarizes the concepts of "heart of Qi and collaterals" and "heart of vessels and collaterals". We believe that obstructed collaterals and disturbed mental activity run through the whole course of psycho-cardiological diseases， being the core pathogenesis. BDNF closely related to the core pathogenesis can regulate nerve and vascular inflammation， alleviate oxidative stress， and mediate a variety of signaling pathways， thereby promoting the survival and repair of nerve cells and vascular endothelial cells to regulate emotion and protect the heart. Therefore， BDNF is one of the potential biomarkers for clinical treatment of psycho-cardiological diseases. Collateral obstruction caused by blood stasis is specifically manifested as collateral deficiency， blood stasis， and Qi stagnation in collaterals. It can easily lead to inflammation， free radical generation， and antioxidant system changes in the patients with psycho-cardiological diseases， which can cause oxidative stress damage， affect the BDNF level， and result in mental disorders， such as anxiety and depression. Disturbed mental activity is mainly caused by the disturbance in the heart of Qi and collaterals， which is specifically manifested as the disturbance of the mind and liver soul. It is prone to cause anxiety or depression symptoms， which is closely related to the BDNF-mediated abnormal activation of neural circuits， nerve injury， and inflammation. This article elaborates on the theoretical connotation and pathological mechanism of regulating mental activity by dredging collaterals in the treatment of psycho-cardiological diseases from the perspective of BDNF， aiming to provide new ideas for the prevention and treatment of psycho-cardiological diseases and collateral diseases.
