ObjectiveTo investigate somatization symptoms in adolescents during frequent earthquakes in Hefei, and to explore their correlation with earthquake experiences. MethodsA cross-sectional survey was used to select 324 adolescents in Hefei as the survey objects. The self-rating scale of somatization symptoms (SSS) and the fatigue intensity scale (FIS) were used to evaluate the somatization symptoms and fatigue degree of middle school students, and multivariate Logistic regression analysis was used to explore the related factors of somatization symptoms and fatigue among middle school students. ResultsA total of 324 adolescents were included, and the overall detection rate of somatization symptoms was 6.5%, and the detection rate of moderate or above fatigue was 20.1%. The results of regression analysis showed that adolescents who were concerned about the earthquake for a longer time (≥1 h) had a higher risk of somatization symptoms (OR=5.430, 95%CI: 1.547-19.058), and adolescents who received pre-earthquake training had a lower degree of fatigue (OR=0.535, 95%CI: 0.292-0.981) (P<0.05). ConclusionDuring the frequent earthquakes, adolescents have more somatization symptoms and fatigue. Therefore, it is crucial to enhance health education, reduce the emphasis on event-related reports, and implement earthquake prevention and disaster reduction training to improve the physical and mental health of adolescents.

This study aimed to investigate the mechanism of compound Agrimonia pilosula enteritis capsules (CAPEC) on ulcerative colitis (UC) in mice with dampness-heat syndrome. The mice were randomly divided into five groups: the control group, the model group, the positive drug (5-aminosalicylic acid, 5-ASA) group, the low-dose CAPEC (CAPEC-L) group and the high-dose CAPEC (CAPEC-H) group. The mice models were established by using high-fat high-sucrose diet, feeding with distilled spirit and dextran sulfate sodium (DSS). The effects of CAPEC on bile acids (BAs) metabolic profiles in bile and the FXR-SREBP-1 signaling pathway were investigated in the model of UC in mice with dampness-heat syndrome by ELISA, qRT-PCR, UHPLC-QQQ/MS, and histopathological analysis. The results showed that, compared with the model group, the CAPEC-L group and the CAPEC-H group significantly reduced the disease activity index (DAI), and proinflammatory cytokine levels (including IL-6, IL-1β, and TNF-α) in both serum and colon tissues. Additionally, CAPEC markedly ameliorated intestinal inflammation, hepatic lipid accumulation, and pathological alterations in tongue tissue. The CAPEC-H group significantly attenuated the abnormal elevation of BAs profiles in bile, and up-regulated hepatic mRNA levels of Cyp7a1, Cyp7b1, Cyp27a1, Bsep, Fxr, and Shp, while down-regulating Srebp-1 and Cyp8b1 expression. The experimental results suggest that CAPEC alleviates UC with dampness-heat syndrome by ameliorating BAs metabolic disorders, hepatic lipid accumulation, and intestinal inflammation. These findings provide mechanistic insights into CAPEC’s traditional effects of clearing heat and drying dampness, and strengthening the spleen to relieve diarrhea.

Salvia miltiorrhiza (Danshen) is a traditional Chinese herb that is commonly known for its cardiovascular and hepatoprotective benefits. Recent studies have confirmed that Danshen and its bioactive components can influence gut microbial homeostasis, thereby affecting Helicobacter pylori (HP) colonization in the human stomach. HP is a bacterial pathogen associated with various gastrointestinal diseases. Current HP treatments mainly involve antibiotics and proton pump inhibitors. However, their efficacy is strongly compromised by the rapid emergence of antibiotic resistance in HP and genetic heterogeneity among patients. The interaction between Danshen and gut microbial status provides a novel perspective for HP treatment. Understanding the medical properties of Danshen in altering gut microbiota and eliminating HP, as well as the underlying mechanisms, is important for improving human gastrointestinal healthcare. This review investigates the interaction between Danshen and gut microbiota and its impact on HP infection using databases including Web of Science, PubMed, and Google Scholar. We explored the unconventional intersection between Danshen, gut microbiota, and HP infection, shedding light on their intricate interplay and potential therapeutic implications. A comprehensive understanding of this interaction provides valuable insights into developing novel therapeutic strategies that target the gut microbiota to mitigate HP-associated gastrointestinal disorders. Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) may lead to secondary gynecological and obstetric disorders such as decreased ovarian reserve function, menstrual abnormalities, and adverse pregnancy outcomes. Based on "bi (痹) of both body and viscera" theory, this paper proposed that the core mechanism of SLE secondary gynecological and obstetric diseases lies in the mutual transformation between "body bi" and "viscera bi", which together affect the uterus. Physiologically, uterus forms an internal-external network with the body and viscera through the meridians and blood vessels. Pathologically, when the healthy qi is deficient, nourishment of the body and viscera is impaired; when toxins and stasis accumulate, pathogenic factors disturb the uterus through the chong (冲) and ren (任) meri-dians. The resulting obstruction in the uterus can, in turn, manifest externally and aggravate damage to the body and viscera. Therefore, the pathogenesis of SLE secondary gynecological and obstetric diseases follows a dynamic trajectory of "body bi first, body bi affecting viscera, and then bi of both body and viscera". In treatment, the principle of harmonizing and balancing the healthy qi is emphasized. The main approach is to regulate the viscera, stabilize the body, and nourish the uterus, with the coordination of nourishing the viscera through the body, thereby achieving simultaneous treatment of both body and viscera. This highlights the guiding significance of the "bi of both body and viscera" theory in preventing and treating SLE secondary gynecological and obstetric diseases.

Objective:This study aims to explore the independent and interactive effects of childhood trauma (CT) and major depressive disorder (MDD) on amygdala subregion volumes and to examine whether volumetric changes in these subregions mediate the relationship between CT and depressive severity. Methods:A total of 129 MDD patients and 127 age- and sex-matched healthy controls were recruited from Nanjing Brain Hospital between October 2022 and November 2024. All participants underwent 3D-T 1 weighted MRI scans, and amygdala subregions were segmented using the FreeSurfer software. Depressive and anxiety symptoms were assessed with the 17-item Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAMD 17) and the Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA),respectively. Childhood trauma exposure was evaluated via the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ). Generalized linear models (GLM) were applied to analyze the main and interactive effects of MDD diagnosis (depression/healthy controls) and CT (presence/absence),adjusting for age, estimated intracranial volume, sex, medication history, and education years. Partial correlation and mediation analyses were conducted to explore associations between amygdala subregion volumes and clinical measures in MDD patients. Results:MDD diagnosis was independently associated with increased volumes in the right central nucleus ( Wald χ2=9.09, P=0.026) and medial nucleus ( Wald χ2=10.08, P=0.026). CT exposure was independently associated with reduced volumes in the right central nucleus ( Wald χ2=7.99, P=0.047) and medial nucleus ( Wald χ2=9.20, P=0.047). No significant interaction effects between MDD and CT were observed in any amygdala subregion. Mediation analysis revealed that reduced right medial nucleus volume partially mediated the relationship between total CTQ scores and depressive severity (proportion mediated: 26.69%,95% CI=0.002-0.060) and mediated the association between emotional neglect and depressive severity (proportion mediated: 26.75%,95% CI=0.006-0.150). Such mediating effects were not found for the right central nucleus. Conclusion:CT and MDD exhibit divergent patterns of influence on amygdala subregions. CT is linked to volumetric reductions, whereas MDD is associated with volumetric enlargement. Reduced volume of the right medial nucleus mediates the relationship between CT and depression severity.

Objective:To explore the differences in the whole-brain functional connectivity characteristics of magnetoencephalography gamma sub-band in resting state between patients with depression with high and low suicidal ideation. Methods:Clinical data of 60 patients with depression (depression group) who visited the Department of Psychiatry, Nanjing Brain Hospital Affiliated to Nanjing Medical University from October 2021 to June 2024 were prospectively collected, including 20 males and 40 females aged 16-41 years. During the same period, 75 healthy controls (healthy control group) were recruited, matched for gender and age, comprising 33 males and 42 females, aged 18-43 years. The Hamilton Depression Scale-17 items (HAMD-17) was used to assess the degree of depression in patients, and the score of the third item was used to divide the patients into a high suicidal ideation group of 37 cases (2-3 points) and a low suicidal ideation group of 23 cases (0-1 points). The Beck Scale for Suicide Ideation-Chinese Version (BSI-CV) was used to assess the intensity of suicidal ideation in patients in the last week and at the most severe stage. Brain imaging data of the subjects were collected using a CTF-275 channel magnetoencephalography device and a 3 T magnetic resonance imaging device. The functional connectivity matrix of the gamma sub-band depression group, healthy control group, high suicidal ideation group, and low suicidal ideation group was calculated using the envelope correlation method. The network-based statistics (NBS) algorithm was used to correct for multiple comparisons and compare the differences in brain network functional connectivity between the depression group/healthy control group and between the high/low suicidal ideation groups. Results:Compared with the healthy control group, the functional connectivity between the bilateral middle frontal gyrus, right inferior frontal gyrus orbital part, right anterior cingulate gyrus, left middle frontal gyrus orbital part, and right superior parietal lobule in the depression group was significantly enhanced in the low gamma frequency band (30-60 Hz) ( θ=3, P=0.042). Compared with the low suicidal ideation group, the functional connectivity between the right amygdala as a central node and the right superior frontal gyrus, left hippocampus, right upper temporal pole, and left transverse temporal gyrus in the high suicidal ideation group was significantly enhanced in the high gamma frequency band (60-90 Hz) ( θ=3, P=0.049). Conclusion:In the low gamma frequency band, patients with depression have neural dysfunction mainly in the frontal lobe. In the high gamma frequency band, patients with high suicidal ideation have functional connectivity abnormalities centered on the amygdala.

Cytek Aurora flow cytometry (Cytek, America) and Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) were used to detect the expression levels of 25 cytokines after mild and severe RSV infection. Results:Cough and nasal obstruction were the main clinical manifestations in infants with mild RSV infection, accompanied by polypnea, wheezing and other symptoms. The main symptoms of severe RSV infection were cough and rales, accompanied by fever and polypnea. In comparison with the control group, the expression levels of IL-2, IL-4, IL-5, IL-6, IL-9, IL-13, IL-22, TNF-α, IFN-α, IFN-β, MIP-1β, I-TAC, ENA-78, GROα, Eotaxin, and MCP-1 in the RSV infection group all exhibited an upregulation trend. Both IP-10 and MIP-3α demonstrated a downward trend in the RSV infection group; however, there was no statistically significant difference ( P>0.05). The levels of IL-10, IFN-γ, MIP-1α, and IL-8 in the RSV infection group were significantly higher than those in the control group, whereas the levels of MIG, TARC, and RANTES in the RSV infection group were significantly lower than those in the control group ( P<0.05). The levels of IL-2, IL-4, IL-5, IL-6, IL-9, IL-10, IL-13, IL-22, IFN-β, IFN-γ, TNF-α, IL-8, I-TAC, MIP-1β, Eotaxin, and MCP-1 in the mild RSV infection group were significantly higher than those in the severe RSV infection group ( P>0.05). Among these, the levels of MIG, RANTES, TARC, MIP-3α, and ENA-78 in the mild infection group were all lower than those in the severe infection group. The expressions of ENA-78 and MIP-1α in the severe infection group were significantly higher than those in the mild infection group and also higher than those in the control group. There was no significant difference in IP-10 and GROα between the mild and severe RSV infection groups ( P>0.05). Conclusions:The differences in clinical features and cytokines between infants with mild and severe RSV infection provide important data support for the prevention and treatment of RSV infection in infants.

Objective:To evaluate the long-term efficacy of liposuction combined with lymphaticovenous anastomosis (LVA) in the treatment of secondary lymphedema in lower extremity and analyse the factors that affect therapeutic outcomes. Methods:A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 172 patients who were treated in the Department of Lymphatic Surgery, Capital Medical University Affiliated Beijing Shijitan Hospital for secondary lymphedema in lower extremity, between January 2019 and December 2021. The cohort comprised 170 females and 2 males, with a median age of 55 years. The primary diseases were: 99 patients with cervical cancer, 47 with endometrial cancer, 1 with penile cacer and 25 with other malignant tumours. All patients received liposuction to aspirate subcutaneous adipose tissue and LVA anastomosis of the inguinal lymphatic vessels with the great saphenous vein and its branches. Postoperative follow-ups were performed at outpatient clinic, telephone interview and questionnaire survey to acquire immediate status of the patients at the time. Following variables were included the follow-up: gender, age, body mass index (BMI), duration, hypertension, diabetes, the type of primary disease, history of surgery, history of lymph node dissection, history of radiotherapy or chemotherapy, extracellular water ratio (ECW%) in the affected limb, preoperative history of erysipelas, preoperative percentage difference in circumference of bilateral proximal toes, dorsal feet, ankles, distal third of legs, middle legs, proximal third of legs, knees, distal third of thighs, mid thighs, proximal third of thighs and groins. Additional parameters included duration of liposuction, intraoperative blood loss, adipose tissue content, number of lymphatic vessels anastomosed in LVA, postoperative daily standing time, postoperative history of erysipelas, and usage of compression garment. Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed using SPSS 26.0 software, with P <0.05 considered statistically significant. Results:A complete remission was defined as less than 10.0% in the percentage of bilateral limb volume difference during follow-up. There were 112 patients with complete remission. After excluded confounding factors through univariate analysis, multivariate analysis had revealed following independent risk factors: ECW% of affected limb ( P<0.01), postoperative standing duration >6 hours/day ( P=0.021), postoperative history of erysipelas ( P=0.016), regular use of compression garment ( P=0.013), and percentage difference of circumference at bilateral proximal toes ( P=0.038). Among the remaining 60 patients, 32 patients achieved effective remission which was defined as less than 20.0% in the swelling volume expansion ratio. Conclusion:Liposuction combined with LVA can relieve secondary lymphedema of lower extremity for majority of patients. ECW% of affected limb, postoperative standing duration >6 hours/day, postoperative history of erysipelas, irregular use of elastic socks, and percentage difference in circumference at bilateral proximal toes are the independent risk factors that affect the prognosis.
