Objective: To investigate the correlation between color parameters (L^*, a^*, b^*, Eab^*) and the contents of reducing sugars, total polysaccharides, total oligosaccharides, as well as four saccharides (fructose, glucose, sucrose, and kestose) during the nine cycles of steaming and sun-drying processing of Polygonatum kingianum, and to preliminarily explore the optimal processing duration.
Methods: The color changes were objectively evaluated using a colorimeter. The anthrone-sulfuric acid method was employed to determine total polysaccharides and oligosaccharides. The 3,5-dinitrosalicylic acid (DNS) colorimetric method was used to measure total reducing sugar content. High-performance liquid chromatography coupled with charged aerosol detection (HPLC-CAD) was applied for quantitative analysis of fructose, glucose, sucrose, and kestose. Multivariate statistical analysis was conducted to assess samples from different processing stages.
Results: Significant variations in color and component contents were observed across processing stages. The herbal pieces progressively darkened with increased processing cycles: brightness (L^*) and total color difference (Eab^*) initially decreased then stabilized, while a^* (red-green) and b^* (yellow-blue) values first increased then declined. Total polysaccharides and oligosaccharides showed overall decreasing trends, whereas reducing sugars initially increased before stabilizing. Fructose and glucose levels rose continuously, while sucrose and kestose decreased progressively, becoming undetectable after five cycles.
Conclusion: The chromatic alteration and saccharide composition of P. kingianum showed significant correlation with processing duration. Both total color difference (Eab^*) and reducing sugar content stabilized after four processing cycles (12 hours), suggesting that four cycles of steaming and sun-drying may represent the optimal processing duration.

Objective: To investigate the correlation between the color parameters (L^*, a^*, b^*, Eab^* values) of Polygoni Multiflori Radix Praeparata powder prepared by different processing techniques and the contents of 2,3,5,4’-tetrahydroxystilbene-2-O-β-D-glucopyranoside, emodin, physcion, emodin-8-O-β-D-glucopyranoside, physcion-8-O-β-D-glucopyranoside.
Methods: The L^*, a^*, b^* and Eab^* values of Polygoni Multiflori Radix Praeparata powder prepared by different processing techniques were determined by spectrophotometer, and the contents of the five components were determined by high performance liquid chromatography. Secondly, SPSS 26.0 software and Simca 14.1 software were used to analyze the correlation.
Results: Through the hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA), it was found that the steamed samples and black bean steamed samples could be obviously divided into two categories: raw products and processed products. The processed products could be further divided into 2-8 h and 12-48 h. Pearson correlation analysis showed that the content of stilbene glycoside was significantly positively correlated with L^*, a^* and b^* values (P<0.01). The a^* value was significantly positively correlated with the content of emodin and physcion (P<0.01). Emodin-8-O-β-D-glucoside was positively correlated with L^* value and b^* value, while physcion-8-O-β-D-glucoside was negatively correlated with a^* value. Partial least squares discriminant analysis (PLS) showed that 2,3,5,4’-tetrahydroxystilbene-2-O-β-D-glucoside (VIP=1.69) and emodin-8-O-β-D-glucoside (VIP=1.06) were the key variables affecting chromaticity characteristics (P<0.01).
Conclusion: The three processes of steaming, black bean steaming and black bean stewing are consistent in composition transformation and chromaticity variation, and stilbene glycoside can be used as a specific index component to characterize the processed color. Chromatic parameters can effectively reflect the processing progression and serve as quality monitoring indicators during production.

Polygoni multiflori radix praeparata is a processed product of Polygoni multiflori radix(Polygonum multiflorum Thunb.),and its main components include stilbene glycosides,anthraquinones,flavonoids,alkaloids,phenolic acids,etc.It has antioxidant,antianemic,anti-tumor,hypoglycemic,anti-inflammatory effects,etc,and is widely used in clinical practice.The processing technology is mainly stewinging with black bean juice,steaming,processing for 9 times and braising and simmering.After processing,the color deepens and the content of composition changes.By consulting domestic and foreign literature,the research on Polygoni multiflori radix praeparata is not comprehensive enough compared with Polygoni multiflori radix.Therefore,this paper mainly summarizes the processing technology,chemical composition and pharmacological activity of Polygoni multiflori radix preparata reported in the past 20 years,and provides a reference for further development of Polygoni multiflori radix preparata.

Total knee arthroplasty， as a common treatment option for advanced knee osteoarthritis， can alleviate the clinical symptoms of patients. Deep vein thrombosis of the lower extremity is the most common complication of total knee arthroplasty. Previous studies have shown that the occurrence of deep vein thrombosis after total knee arthroplasty is mostly related to the overexpression of inflammatory factors in vivo. Nuclear transcription factor-κB， Toll-like receptor 4， phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase/protein kinase B， tumor necrosis factor， and nuclear transcription factor E₂-related factor 2 are typical signaling pathways related to inflammation. Regulating the expression of the signaling pathways can intervene the formation of inflammatory factors. Inhibiting the formation of inflammatory factors can help suppress the activation of platelets， thereby blocking thrombosis. According to previous research， Chinese medicine monomers， Chinese medicine extract， and compound Chinese medicine prescriptions all directly or indirectly inhibit the expression of inflammatory factors by regulating the above signaling pathways， thereby suppressing the occurrence of deep vein thrombosis after total knee arthroplasty. Therefore， Chinese medicine can reduce postoperative complications and promote postoperative recovery of patients at low cost with small side effects. This article summarizes the research on Chinese medicine intervention on deep vein thrombosis-related signaling pathways after total knee arthroplasty， which is expected to lay a basis for the in-depth study and clinical application of Chinese medicine in deep vein thrombosis.

Alcoholic liver disease (ALD) is one of the most common chronic liver diseases worldwide and includes the different stages of steatosis, steatohepatitis, fibrosis, and liver cirrhosis. Enterococcus faecalis is a common bacterium for nosocomial infection and has a significant impact on the prognosis of patients with alcoholic hepatitis. This review mainly introduces the pathogenesis of ALD and the pathogenic mechanism of E. faecalis , summarizes the research advances in E. faecalis in ALD, and briefly describes the detection and treatment methods for E. faecalis infection in clinical practice. Since there is an extremely high mortality rate in ALD patients with lytic E. faecalis infection, an in-depth understanding of E. faecalis has become an important issue nowadays.

Objective:To investigate the association of polymorphisms at the matrix metalloproteinase(MMP)-3-1612 position of the promotor region with the inflammatory response and oxidative stress in elderly patients with cerebral ischemic stroke.Methods:In this retrospective study, 129 elderly patients with cerebral infarction diagnosed and treated in our hospital between March 2019 and March 2021 were enrolled as the study group, and 110 healthy subjects were selected as the control group.Polymorphisms of the MMP-3-1612 position in the promotor region, the inflammatory response and oxidative stress were examined using appropriate parameters and the associations between them were analyzed. Results:Compared with the control group, the proportions of patients with hypertension, diabetes, and smoking history in the study group were significantly higher( χ2=16.05, 17.19, 14.19, all P<0.05), and the levels of fasting blood glucose, low-density lipoprotein, and homocysteine were also significantly higher( t=6.22, 3.64, 2.69, all P<0.05).Meanwhile, compared with patients carrying the MMP-3-5A/6A or the MMP-3-6A/6A genotype, the levels of serum inflammatory markers such as high mobility group box-1 protein(HMGB1), fractalkine(FKN), tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α), interleukin-1β(IL-1β)and interleukin-17(IL-17)in patients carrying the MMP-3 gene 5A/5A genotype were significantly higher(all P<0.05).In addition, the expression of serum oxidative stress-related molecules Kelch-like ECH-associated protein 1(Keap1), nuclear factor erythroid-2 related factor2(Nrf2), antioxidant response element(ARE), quinone oxidoreductase 1(NQO1), and heme oxygenase-1(HO-1)was also significantly increased(all P<0.05), but there was no difference in these markers between patients carrying the MMP-3-5A/6A genotype and patients carrying the MMP-3-6A/6A genotype( P>0.05).Patients carrying the 5A/5A genotype and the 6A/6A genotype exhibited only one 97 bp band and one 120 bp band, respectively, while the patients carrying the 5A/6A genotype exhibited two 97 bp bands and two 120 bp bands.There was no statistical difference in the number of patients carrying the 5A/6A genotype in the cerebral infarction group compared with the control group( P>0.05), and the number of patients carrying the 5A/5A genotype in the cerebral infarction group was higher than that in the control group(69% or 53.49% vs.35% or 31.82%, χ2=11.34, P<0.05).Polymorphisms of the MMP-3 gene had a positive correlation with the risk of stroke( r=0.25, P<0.05). MMP-3-1612 gene polymorphism( OR=7.21, 95% CI: 1.13-1.83, P=0.01), elevated blood glucose( OR=1.27, 95% CI: 1.18-2.06, P<0.001), high homocysteine( OR=1.05, 95% CI: 1.08-1.58, P<0.01), hypertension( OR=5.414, 95% CI: 1.140-4.46, P<0.01), elevated low-density lipoprotein( OR=4.03, 95% CI: 1.03-2.35, P=0.02), coronary heart disease( OR=1.17, 95% CI: 1.47-3.19, P<0.01)and diabetes( OR=8.52, 95% CI: 1.32-4.71, P<0.01)were risk factors for cerebral infarction. Conclusions:In elderly patients with cerebral infarction, polymorphisms of the MMP-3-1612 position in the promotor region is closely related to the risk of cerebral ischemic stroke, the inflammatory response and oxidative stress.MMP-3 gene polymorphisms are risk factors for stroke.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a common type of primary liver cancer with high mortality worldwide. Among the common malignant tumors in China, HCC ranks fourth in terms of incidence rate and ranks second in terms of mortality, which seriously threatens the health and life safety of the Chinese people. This article mainly introduces the dual role of Kupffer cells (KCs) in HCC and briefly describes its interaction with liver parenchymal cells and nonparenchymal cells and related targeted treatment methods. The analysis shows that in-depth research on KCs in the regulation of HCC helps to provide new ideas for further treatment of HCC.

Mitochondrial dysfunction is closely related to the occurrence and development of benign and malignant diseases of the pancreas. Mitochondrial membrane of the respiratory chain electron transfer and energy transfer plays an important role in maintaining normal cellular function. When the respiratory chain was disrupted, the oxidative stress was increased in the cell, and produced a large number of oxide intermediate products which target mitochondrial protein, DNA, etc, lead to mitochondrial dysfunction finally induced acute pancreatitis, pancreatic cancer and other diseases. In addition, mitochondrial homeostasis plays an indispensable role in maintaining the normal function of islet cells. This paper reviewed the research status of mitochondrial dysfunction in pancreatic diseases.

ObjectiveTo investigate the effect of kaempferol on the proliferation, migration, invasion, and apoptosis of human hepatoma Bel-7402 cells and related molecular mechanism. MethodsHepatoma Bel-7402 cells cultured in vitro were randomly divided into control group and low-, middle-, and high-concentration experimental groups. The experimental groups were treated with low-, middle-, and high-concentration kaempferol (25, 50, and 100 μmol/L), and the control group was treated with an equal volume of dimethyl sulfoxide. CCK-8 assay was used to observe the effect of kaempferol on the viability of Bel-7402 cells; plate colony formation assay was used to evaluate the effect of kaempferol on cell colony formation ability; wound healing assay and Transwell chamber were used to observe the effect of kaempferol on cell migration and invasion; Western blot was used to measure the expression of apoptosis- and cycle-related proteins. A one-way analysis of variance was used for comparison between multiple groups, and the least significant difference t-test was used for further comparison between two groups. ResultsAfter 24 hours of treatment, the cell viability was 100.00%±2.72% in the control group and 75.70%±2.42%, 62.79%±2.45%, and 43.41%±2.11%, respectively, in the low-, middle-, and high-concentration experimental groups, and compared with the control group, the experimental groups had a significant reduction in cell viability (all P＜0.05). The number of cell colonies was 923.3±35.2 in the control group and 682.7±24.4, 464.0±22.0, and 327.3±14.0, respectively, in the low-, middle-, and high-concentration experimental groups, and compared with the control group, the experimental groups had a significant reduction in cell colony formation ability (all P＜0.05). After 24 hours of treatment, the relative migration rate was 100.00%±1.11% in the control group and 63.33%±1.16%, 51.72%±3.23%, and 37.18%±2.71%, respectively, in the low-, middle-, and high-concentration experimental groups, and the number of transmembrane cells was 212.0±3.0 in the control group and 134.0±2.0, 71.0±2.0, and 34.0±1.0, respectively, in the low-, middle-, and high-concentration experimental groups; compared with the control group, the experimental groups had significant reductions in relative migration rate and number of transmembrane cells (all P＜0.05). After 48 hours of treatment, compared with the control group, the low-, middle-, and high-concentration experimental groups had a significant reduction in the expression of the anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-2 (all P＜0.05), a significant increase in the expression of the pro-apoptotic protein Bax (all P＜0.05), and a significant reduction in the expression of C＜italic/＞yclinD1 (all P＜005). ConclusionKaempferol can inhibit the proliferation, migration, and invasion of human hepatoma Bel-7402 cells and promote the apoptosis of such cells, possibly by regulating the apoptosis proteins Bax and Bcl-2 and downregulating the expression of CyclinD1.

Objective: To detect the expression of basic fibroblast growth factor(bFGF) in oral mucosa with ulcer in rabbits. Methods: 72 New Zealand rabbits(with the weight of 3 000-3 500 g) were randomly divided into control group,model group,and treatment group(n = 24). 1,3,5 and 7 d after treatment buccal mucous membrane tissues of the rabbits were respectively taken from the 3 groups. The models of oral ulcer were examined by HE staining. The expression of bFGF mRNA was detected by RTPCR. The expression of bFGF protein was detected by immunohistochemistry. Results: The oral ulcer model of the rabbits was successfully established. Both RT-PCR and immunohistochemistry analyses showed that 1-7 d after treatment the expression levels of bFGF mRNA and protein were higher in treatment group than in model group(P ＜ 0. 05) and control group(P ＜ 0. 05),3-7 d after treatment were higher than in model group(P＞ 0. 05). Conclusion: bFGF may be a new therapeutic target for oral ulcer.
