Objective To establish an acute rejection model of cervical heart transplantation in mice and evaluate the survival and dynamic rejection process post-transplantation. Methods Mice were randomly divided into sham operation group (n=10), syngeneic transplantation group (n=21), and allogeneic transplantation group (n=65). Sham operation, syngeneic cervical heart transplantation, and allogeneic cervical heart transplantation were performed respectively. The survival of recipient mice and grafts, histopathological changes of graft tissues, subpopulations of splenic lymphocytes, and expression of inflammatory factors in serum and grafts were observed. Results The survival rate and graft survival rate of the sham operation group and syngeneic transplantation group were 100% at 7 days after surgery. In the allogeneic transplantation group, 5 cases failed and died on the first day after surgery. The survival rate at 7 days after surgery was 86%, and all surviving mice had grafts that stopped beating at 7 days after surgery. The allogeneic transplantation group showed significant rejection at 7 days after surgery, accompanied by tissue damage and CD8+ T cell infiltration. The proportion of CD8+ T cells in the spleen continued to rise post-operation, while the proportion of CD4+ T cells showed a downward trend. The expression of interferon-γ in serum and grafts peaked at 5 days after surgery, while the expression of tumor necrosis factor-α showed no statistical significance. Conclusions Acute rejection following heart transplantation in mice intensifies between 5 to 7 days after surgery, which may be a critical time window for immunological intervention.

Journal of Public Health and Preventive Medicine 2025;36(4):27-31
Objective To investigate the prevalence and influencing factors of thyroid enlargement in school-age children in Tianjin. Methods School-age children were randomly selected in Tianjin to undergo thyroid ultrasound examination, and salt iodine, urine iodine, height, and weight tests. A questionnaire survey was conducted. Univariate and multivariate regression models were used to analyze the risk factors for thyroid enlargement. Results A total of 917 children aged 7-13 years in Tianjin were surveyed, with a thyroid enlargement rate of 4.03% and a median thyroid volume of 2.60 ml. There was a non-linear relationship between children's body mass index (BMI) and the incidence of thyroid enlargement in children (P=0.008), and a linear relationship between children's body surface area (BSA) and the incidence of thyroid enlargement in children (P<0.001). Being 9 years old (OR=3.728, 95%CI: 1.343-10.343, P=0.012), obesity (OR=3.886, 95%CI: 1.801-8.384, P=0.001), having lunch at school (OR=3.157, 95%CI: 1.497-6.658, P=0.003) and frequent consumption of preserved foods (OR=4.611, 95%CI: 1.643-12.945, P=0.004) were risk factors for goiter in children. Regular consumption of seaweed (OR=0.305, 95%CI: 0.100-0.927, P=0.036) was a protective factor for goiter in children. Conclusion The incidence of thyroid enlargement in children in Tianjin meets national standards. Obesity, eating lunch at school, frequently consuming pickled foods, and being 9 years old may be risk factors for thyroid enlargement in children. Eating seaweed or kelp regularly is a protective factor. At the same time, attention should be paid to the relationship between BMI, BSA, and thyroid enlargement rate in children..

Objective To explore the association between different levels of fluoride exposure and dyslipidemia in elderly people, and to analyze the influencing factors and their interactions. Methods A total of 1 143 elderly people over 60 years old were randomly selected from historical high water fluorosis areas and control areas in Tianjin. Logistic regression model and classification tree model were used to analyze the influencing factors of dyslipidemia, and to analyze the interaction between high fluoride exposure and relevant influencing factors on dyslipidemia. Results The prevalence of elevated low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) was 5.69% (65/1 143). There was a significant difference in the prevalence of high LDL-C in different fluoride-exposed areas (2 = 0.092,P = 0.762). Multivariate logistic analysis showed that high fluoride exposure (OR=2.306,95%CI:1.185-4.491) and abdominal obesity (OR=2.274,95%CI:1.299-3.978) were risk factors for high LDL-C, while type B personality (OR=0.529,95%CI:0.308-0.908) was a protective factor for high LDL-C. The results of classification tree model showed that abdominal obesity contributed the most to the prevalence of high LDL-C in the elderly, followed by high fluoride exposure and hyperglycemia. There was a significant multiplicative interaction between high fluoride exposure and abdominal obesity on dyslipidemia (OR=5.191,95%CI:1.609-16.745,P=0.006). Conclusion High fluoride exposure may increase the risk of high LDL-C, and there is a multiplicative interaction between high fluoride exposure and abdominal obesity on dyslipidemia.

By systematically combing ancient and modern literature, this paper examined Tribuli Fructus and Astragali Complanati Semen(ACS) used in the famous classical formulas from the aspects of name, origin, production area, harvesting and processing, clinical efficacy, so as to provide a basis for the development of famous classical formulas containing such medicinal materials. The results showed that the names of Tribuli Fructus in the past dynasties were mostly derived from its morphology, and there were nicknames such as Baijili, Cijili and Dujili. The name of ACS in the past dynasties were mostly originated from its production areas, and there were nicknames such as Baijili, Shayuan Jili and Tongjili. Because both of them had the name of Baijili, confusion began to appear in the Song dynasty. In ancient and modern times, the main origin of Tribuli Fructus were Tribulus terrestris, and ancient literature recorded the genuine producing areas of Tribuli Fructus was Dali in Shaanxi and Tianshui in Gansu, but today it is mainly cultivated in Anhui and Shandong. The fruit is the medicinal part, harvested in autumn throughout history. There is no description of the quality of Tribuli Fructus in ancient times, and the plump, firm texture, grayish-white color is the best in modern times. Traditional processing methods for Tribuli Fructus included stir-frying and wine processing, while modern commonly used is purified, fried and salt-processed. The ancient records of Tribuli Fructus were spicy, bitter, and warm in nature, with modern research adding that it is slightly toxic. The main effects of ancient and modern times include treating wind disorders, improving vision, promoting muscle growth, and treating vitiligo. The mainstream base of ACS used throughout history is Astragalus complanatus. Ancient texts indicated ACS primarily originated from Shaanxi province. Today, the finest varieties come from Tongguan and Dali in Shaanxi. The medicinal part is the seed, traditionally harvested in autumn. Modern harvesting occurs in late autumn or early winter, followed by sun-drying. Ancient texts valued seeds with a fragrant aroma as superior, while modern standards prioritize plump, uniform and free of impurities. Traditional processing methods for ACS included frying until blackened and wine-frying, while modern practice commonly employs purification methods. In terms of medicinal properties, the ancient and modern records are sweet and warm in nature. Due to originally classified under Tribuli Fructus, its effects were thus regarded as equivalent to those of Tribuli Fructus, serving as the medicine for treating wind disorders, additional functions included tonifying the kidneys and treating vitiligo. The present record of its efficacy is to tonify the kidney and promote Yang, solidify sperm and reduce urine, nourish the liver and brighten the eye, etc. Based on the textual research results, it is suggested that when developing the famous classical formulas of Tribuli Fructus medicinal materials, we should pay attention to the specific reference object of Baijili, T. terrestris and A. complanatus should be identified and selected, and the processing method should be in accordance with the requirements of the formulas.

Objective:To develop college students' proactive aggression questionnaire (CPAQ) and test its reliability and validity. Methods:From March 2023 to April 2024, a questionnaire survey was conducted among 1 552 college students(618 individuals in Sample 1, 783 individuals in Sample 2, 151 individuals in Sample 3 (retested after a 6-month interval), and 49 individuals in Sample 4 (randomly selected from Sample 3)).The reliability and validity of CPAQ were assessed using SPSS 24.0 and Mplus 8.3 software through item analysis, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, internal consistency reliability, test-retest reliability, compatibility validity, discriminant validity, and empirical validity. Results:The results of the project analysis showed that the 33 items in the CPAQ were significantly correlated with the total score( r=0.25-0.78, P<0.05), and item scores between the high and low group were significantly different (all P<0.001). Exploratory factor analysis retained 28 items, which belonged to three dimensions of proactive aggression (instrumental motivation, moral inhibition, and moral disengagement). The results of confirmatory factor analysis showed that the three-dimensional model of the questionnaire was well fitted ( χ2/ df=3.25, CFI=0.96, TLI=0.95, RMSEA=0.05, SRMR=0.06). The Cronbach's α coefficients for the total score of CPAQ and its sub dimensions were 0.93, 0.95, 0.89 and 0.75, respectively(all P<0.05). The test-retest reliability was 0.64, 0.63, 0.67 and 0.60, respectively(all P<0.01). In the compatibility validity test, the instrumental motivation dimension score was positively correlated with the proactive aggression dimension score of reactive-proactive aggression questionnaire(RPQ)( r=0.50, P<0.05), while moral inhibition dimension was negatively correlated with empathy and guilt scores( r=-0.30, -0.39, P<0.05). The dimension of moral disengagement was positively correlated with the score of the moral disengagement scale( r=0.58, P<0.05). In the discriminant validity test, the correlation of CAPQ and RPQ reactive aggression dimension score was not significant( r=0.08, P=0.16). In the criterion related validity test, the correlation coefficients between the score of CAPQ and each calibration questionnaire and scale were 0.70-0.83. In the empirical validity test, there was a significant difference in the different CPAQ score groups for proactive aggressive behavior(high group: (1.16±0.18), low group: (1.04±0.08), t=2.60, P<0.05). Conclusion:CPAQ has good discrimination, reliability, and validity, which could be used as a tool to measure proactive aggressive behavior among college students.

Chinese Journal of Geriatrics 2024;43(7):899-905
Objective:To investigate the impact of exogenous hypoxia-inducible factor 1α(HIF-1α)on glucose metabolism-related proteins and neurological function in the hippocampal CA1 region of rats with cerebral ischemia. Methods:Adult male SD rats were randomly assigned to four groups: sham operation group(Sham group), cerebral ischemia reperfusion group(CIR group), recombinant adenovirus empty vector intervention group(Ad group), and recombinant adenovirus HIF-1α gene intervention group(AdHIF-1α group), each consisting of 12 rats.A rat model of cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury was induced using the modified suture method, and neurological deficits were assessed using the Longa method. In line with previous protocols, exogenous Ad and AdHIF-1α were introduced into the lateral ventricle of rats in the Ad and AdHIF-1α groups, respectively. After 28 days of observation, the animals were euthanized.Hippocampal tissue was collected for analysis, including Hematoxylin-eosin(HE)staining, terminal transferase labeling in situ(TUNEL)staining, and Nissl staining to evaluate pathological changes and neuronal survival in the hippocampal CA1 region.Western blot was performed to assess the expression levels of HIF-1α, glucose transporter 1(GLUT1), glucose transporter 3(GLUT3), and 6-phosphofructose-2-kinase/fructose-2, 6-bisphosphatase 3(PFKFB3)proteins in the hippocampal tissue. Results:Following 28 days of recombinant adenovirus HIF-1α gene therapy, rats in the AdHIF-1α group exhibited reduced neurological deficits compared to the CIR group( P<0.05).Histopathological analysis of nerve cells in the CA1 region of the hippocampus showed significant improvement, with an increase in the number of surviving nerve cells and a decrease in apoptotic cells( P<0.01).Western blot results indicated an upregulation of HIF-1α expression in the hippocampus of the CIR group compared to the Sham group, along with increased levels of glucose metabolism-related proteins(GLUT1, GLUT3, and PFKFB3)(all P<0.05).Furthermore, elevating HIF-1α expression through AdHIF-1α led to a further increase in the expression of glucose transporters(GLUT1, GLUT3, and PFKFB3)in the AdHIF-1α group, demonstrating statistically significant differences compared to the CIR group(all P<0.05).Notably, there were no statistically significant variances in the aforementioned parameters between the Ad group and the CIR group(all P>0.05). Conclusions:The AdHIF-1α gene has the potential to enhance neurological function, promote nerve cell survival, and decrease nerve cell apoptosis. This effect is likely achieved by increasing HIF-1α expression in the hippocampus, subsequently up-regulating GLUT1, GLUT3 and PFKFB3 expression, and ultimately improving glucose metabolism supply.Overall, this gene shows promise in protecting the brain.

Chinese Journal of Urology 2024;45(8):629-630
Partial nephrectomy (PN) is primarily used to treat small size renal cell carcinoma (RCC), aiming to minimize the impact on kidney function. Although the recurrence rate post-PN is low, vigilance in diagnosing recurrence is crucial to differentiate it from inflammatory pseudotumor (IPT) and therefore prevent unnecessary interventions. In the case of a 56-year-old female patient who underwent PN for RCC of the right kidney, a mass was identified in the original surgical site over a year later, raising concerns of local recurrence based on imaging findings. However, when the patient declined puncture biopsy, a Radical Nephrectomy (RN) was performed instead. Subsequent pathology results revealed the presence of IPT, not tumor recurrence. This case underscores the importance of a comprehensive analysis of imaging features to accurately diagnose postoperative recurrence following PN. Where uncertainty persists, puncture biopsy should be considered to provide a definitive diagnosis. Moreover, emphasizing ongoing training in PN techniques and adherence to established protocols is essential to minimize the likelihood of complications such as trauma and infection, thereby reducing the occurrence of both postoperative PN recurrence and IPT.
