Objective:To analyze the effect of zirconium-based pigments with different mass fractions on the colorimetric properties of fused deposition modeling (FDM) polyetheretherketone (PEEK) composites, and to investigate the feasibility of using these pigments for computer color matching of PEEK composites. Methods:Specimens were fabricated using FDM technology, comprising two control groups [Pure PEEK group, PEEK-TiO 2 group (PEEK compounded with 20% TiO 2)] and nine experimental groups based on the type of zirconium-based pigment (zirconium praseodymium yellow, zirconium iron red, zirconium vanadium blue) and mass fraction (0.1%, 0.5%, 1.0%). The experimental group specimens consisted of PEEK blended with 20% TiO 2 and the respective zirconium-based pigment. The spectral reflectance curve and chromaticity values of all specimens were measured using a spectrophotometer. The relationship between the chromaticity values of each colored PEEK composite in the experimental groups and the pigment mass fraction was determined. Shade guide tabs mimicking clinically used tooth shades were fabricated using a light-curing resin (Filtek Z350XT Body). The full-spectrum color matching method was employed to calculate the PEEK composite formulations (PEEK, 20% TiO 2, blends of the three zirconium-based pigments) required to match these target tooth shades. Verification group specimens based on these calculated recipes were then fabricated. The color difference between each verification group specimen and its corresponding target shade tab was calculated. Color differences between the target shade tabs and the two control groups (Pure PEEK, PEEK-TiO 2) were also calculated. Results:The spectral reflectance curves of PEEK composite specimens containing different types of zirconium-based pigments exhibited distinct characteristic features. The chromaticity values were significantly affected by the mass fraction of the same zirconium-based pigment. Based on computer color matching calculations, the color differences between the verification group specimens and the target shade tabs ranged from 1.59 to 14.55.Conclusions:This study demonstrates the feasibility of utilizing the three zirconium-based pigments (zirconium praseodymium yellow, zirconium iron red, zirconium vanadium blue) for full-spectrum computer color matching of PEEK-TiO 2 composites.

This article summarizes Professor Li Ziyong's clinical experience with the round-sharp needle. As one of the core needle types in the Huang Di Nei Jing(The Yellow Emperor's Inner Classic)nine-needle system, the round-sharp needle has long been marginalized in clinical practice due to historical discontinuities in its transmission and insufficient research on its morphological characteristics, resulting in its unique therapeutic value remaining largely unrecognized.Through nearly three decades of clinical practice,Professor Li innovatively proposed the acupuncture concept of"unblocking passages and guarding the pivotal mechanism",guided by the Yellow Emperor's Inner Classic principle that"ordinary practitioners focus on the joints, while superior practitioners focus on the pivotal mechanisms".Under this theoretical framework,he has extensively applied the round-sharp needle in clinical settings. With its unique design combining rounded and sharp features, the round-sharp needle demonstrates remarkable clinical efficacy by intervening at the fascial layer and releasing local fascial adhesions. It exhibits rapid onset and stable therapeutic outcomes. This article systematically reviews Professor Li's understanding of the round-sharp needle, its key operational techniques, and clinical case studies, aiming to establish a replicable paradigm for its modern application and promote the clinical translation of classical acupuncture theory.

Journal of Chinese Physician 2025;27(5):650-653
Objective:To review the clinical characteristics, treatment and prognosis of patients with Klebsiella pneumoniae endogenous endophthalmitis in the past 20 years, in order to guide diagnosis and treatment. Methods:Patients with Klebsiella pneumoniae endogenous endophthalmitis who visited the Ophthalmology Department of Peking Union Medical College Hospital from January 2004 to December 2023 were retrospectively included. The basic information, general condition, microbiological evidence, treatment regimens and prognosis of the patients were statistically analyzed. Results:A total of 26 patients (33 affected eyes) were included, with an age of (53.6±12.6)years. Among them, 76.9%(20/26) of the patients had diabetes mellitus, 61.5%(16/26) of the patients had liver abscess, and 88.5%(23/26) of the patients visited the hospital due to systemic infection symptoms such as fever rather than ocular symptoms. Thirty affected eyes underwent complete ocular sign examinations. The time from the appearance of ocular symptoms to the first ophthalmic visit of the patients was (10.5±6.2)days. The best corrected visual acuity of the minimum resolution visual Angle logarithm (logMAR) of the affected eyes at the visit was (2.3±0.9), and retinal detachment occurred in 70.0%(21/30) of the affected eyes. Thirty-three affected eyes received (2.9±2.3) intravitreal antibiotic injections. 66.7%(22/33) of the affected eyes underwent vitreous surgeries, and 24.2%(8/33) of the affected eyes eventually underwent enucleation of the ocular contents or enucleation of the eyeball. The median follow-up time for the patients was 111 days. The logMAR best corrected visual acuity at the last follow-up was (2.1±0.9), and only 27.3%(9/33) of the affected eyes had improved visual acuity compared with that at the first visit. Conclusions:Klebsiella pneumoniae endogenous endophthalmitis progresses rapidly and has a poor prognosis. The combined systemic and intraocular application of antibiotics and vitreous surgeries are crucial for eye protection. Early diagnosis and early treatment are the most crucial.
