From July 23, 2018, to December 31, 2019, a total of 299 219 children in Shandong Province received the fifth dose of the diphtheria, tetanus, and acellular pertussis combined vaccine (DTaP). Among these recipients, the distribution by age was as follows: 20 children under 2 years old (0.01%), 273 996 children aged 2 years (91.57%), 20 242 children aged 3 years (6.76%), 3 932 children aged 4 years (1.31%), 963 children aged 5 years (0.32%), and 66 children aged 6 years and above (0.02%). In total, 1 972 cases of adverse events following immunization (AEFI) were reported after the administration of the fifth dose of DTaP, resulting in an incidence rate of 659.05 per 100 000 doses. Among these, 1 718 cases were classified as common vaccine reactions, with an incidence rate of 574.16 per 100 000 doses, while 247 cases were identified as rare reactions, yielding an incidence rate of 82.55 per 100 000 doses. The incidence of AEFIs, as well as the rates of common and rare reactions, exhibited a significant increasing trend with the number of doses administered (all P<0.001). Among the rare reactions, there were 10 cases classified as severe, resulting in a reported incidence of 3.34 per 100 000 doses.

In order to understand the knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP) of vaccination against influenza, pneumonia, human papillomavirus (HPV), herpes zoster (HZ), COVID-19, and hepatitis B among staff of vaccination units in Shandong Province, a sample survey was conducted among 797 staffs of adult vaccination units in 12 counties (cities and districts) of Shandong Province from August to September 2022. The results showed that the respondents had the highest total score of knowledge and attitude for the COVID-19 vaccine, with the M ( Q1, Q3) of 23 (20, 25) and 10 (10, 10), respectively, and had the lowest score of knowledge and attitude for the herpes zoster vaccine, with the M ( Q1, Q3) of 19 (15, 22) and 8 (8, 10), respectively. The vaccine-related knowledge point"vaccine applicable population"had the highest score, with the M (Q1, Q3) of 26 (23, 30). The "contraindications/adverse reactions" and "adverse reaction management" had the lowest score, with the M (Q1, Q3) of 24 (20, 29) and 24 (20, 28), respectively. About 89.71% of respondents received one adult vaccine within two years at least. The principal driver for vaccination of 53.58% of recipients was their understanding of vaccines, which was"it was necessary to receive the vaccine". About 66.00% of respondents who had not received any adult vaccine in the past two years had insufficient awareness of the necessity of vaccination and believed that they were in good health and did not need to receive it. In summary, the staff of adult vaccination units in Shandong Province have a poor understanding of the herpes zoster vaccine in terms of vaccines and a relatively poor understanding of"contraindications/adverse reaction and management"in adult vaccination knowledge points.

Objective: To investigate the pulmonary functions among the elderly in Hangzhou City, so as to provide insights into the management of respiratory diseases among the elderly. Methods: Permanent residents at ages of 60 to 75 years were sampled from Hangzhou City from November to December 2020. The pulmonary function was tested using a portable pulmonary function monitor, including large airway function parameters [forced expiratory volume (FVC), forced expiratory volume in a second (FEV1) and FEV1/FVC], and small airway function parameters [maximum expiratory flow rate at 75% vital capacity (MEF75%), the maximum expiratory flow rate at 25% of vital capacity (MEF25%) and the forced expiratory flow rate (FEF25%-75%) at 25% to 75% of vital capacity]. The pulmonary functions were compared among the elderly with different genders, ages and body mass index (BMI). Results : Totally 314 participants were recruited, including 126 men (40.13%), with a mean age of (68.49±4.47) years and mean BMI of (23.51±2.79) kg/m2. The mean FEV1, FVC, FEV1/FVC, MEF25%, MEF75% and FEF25%-75% were (1.97±0.53) L, (2.51±0.72) L, (79.79±11.47)%, (0.98±0.53) L/s, (3.84±1.65) L/s and (1.99±0.91) L/s among the participants, respectively. Higher FEV1 [(2.22±0.55) vs. (1.79±0.43) L, P<0.05], FVC [(2.92±0.75) vs. (2.24±0.55) L, P<0.05], MEF75% [(4.19±1.82) vs. (3.59±1.49) L/s, P<0.05] and FEF25%-75% [(2.14±1.07) vs. (1.90±0.77) L/s, P<0.05] were tested among men than among women, and lower FEV1 [(1.75±0.46) L], FVC [(2.27±0.64) L], MEF25% [(0.88±0.57) L/s], MEF75% [(3.39±1.45) L/s] and FEF25%-75% [(1.79±0.96) L/s] were tested among the elderly at ages of 70 to 74 years. The proportion of large and small airway dysfunctions was 40.45% among the participants. Conclusions The proportion of large and small airway dysfunctions was 40.45% among the elderly in Hangzhou City, and poor pulmonary functions were tested among the women and the advanced elderly.

Objective: To examine the effects of air pollution on overall mortality, mortality of respiratory diseases, and mortality of circulatory diseases among residents in Hangzhou City. Methods: Residents' mortality data in Hangzhou City from 2014 to 2016 were captured from Zhejiang Provincial Chronic Disease Surveillance Information Management System, and the ambient air quality in Hangzhou City from 2014 to 2016 were collected from Hangzhou Environmental Monitoring Center, while the meteorological monitoring data during the study period were collected from Hangzhou Meteorological Bureau. The effects of PM2.5, PM10, NO2 and SO2 on overall mortality, morality of respiratory diseases and mortality of circulatory diseases were evaluated a generalized additive model (GAM) based on Poisson distribution, and the risk of mortality was described with excess risk (ER) and its 95%CI. Results: The daily M (QR) overall deaths, deaths from respiratory diseases and deaths from circulatory diseases were 111 (30), 16 (9) and 37 (14) persons in Hangzhou City from 2014 to 2016, respectively. A 10 μg/m3 increase in PM2.5, PM10, NO2 and SO2 resulted in 0.47% (95%CI: 0.23%-0.70%), 0.37% (95%CI: 0.21%-0.53%), 1.06% (95%CI: 0.50%-1.61%) and 3.08% (95%CI: 2.18%-3.99%) rises in the risk of overall mortality, 0.60% (95%CI: 0.04%-1.16%), 0.45% (95%CI: 0.06%-0.83%), 2.01% (95%CI: 0.84%-3.20%) and 6.06% (95%CI: 3.80%-8.37%) rises in the risk of mortality of respiratory diseases, and 0.45% (95%CI: 0.08%-0.83%), 0.44% (95%CI: 0.17%-0.71%), 1.43% (95%CI: 0.49%-2.37%) and 3.66% (95%CI: 2.13%-5.22%) rises in the risk of mortality of circulatory diseases, and the greatest effect was observed at a 2-day lag. Multi-pollutant model analysis showed that, after adjustment for PM2.5, NO2 and PM2.5+NO2+SO2, a 10 μg/m3 increase in SO2 resulted in an elevated risk of mortality of respiratory diseases than a single-pollutant model. Conclusions The air pollutants PM10, PM2.5, NO2, and SO2 correlated positively with the risk of overall mortality, mortality of respiratory diseases and mortality of circulatory diseases in Hangzhou City from 2014 to 2016, and the co-existence of multiple pollutants enhanced the effect of SO2 on mortality of respiratory diseases.

Lead poisoning severely threatens human health with its cumulation and durability in the body. The analysis of lead in blood is vital for screening, diagnosis, treatment, and prognostication of lead poisoning and for indirectly monitoring the level of lead in the environment. Although the detection programs are available throughout our country, the accuracy and comparability of the results cannot meet the expectation. A variety of factors can affect the accuracy of blood lead testing. To promote the application of blood lead analysis in clinical trials and reduce the bias of results, a better reference system for blood lead analysis should be established to evaluate the accuracy of traditional methods, promote the standardization of blood lead analysis and achieve accurate blood lead testing.

This article reviews the generation, current status, evaluation tools, influencing factors, and response strategies of financial toxicity in colorectal cancer patients, in order to provide reference for domestic research on financial toxicity.

COVID-19 represents the most serious public health event in the past few decades of the 21^st century. The development of vaccines, neutralizing antibodies, and small molecule chemical agents have effectively prevented the rapid spread of COVID-19. However, the continued emergence of SARS-CoV-2 variants have weakened the efficiency of these vaccines and antibodies, which brought new challenges for searching novel anti-SARS-CoV-2 drugs and methods. In the process of SARS-CoV-2 infection, the virus firstly attaches to heparan sulphate on the cell surface of respiratory tract, then specifically binds to hACE2. The S protein of SARS-CoV-2 is a highly glycosylated protein, and glycosylation is also important for the binding of hACE2 to S protein. Furthermore, the S protein is recognized by a series of lectin receptors in host cells. These finding implies that glycosylation plays important roles in the invasion and infection of SARS-CoV-2. Based on the glycosylation pattern and glycan recognition mechanisms of SARS-CoV-2, it is possible to develop glycan inhibitors against COVID-19. Recent studies have shown that sulfated polysaccharides originated from marine sources, heparin and some other glycans display anti-SARS-CoV-2 activity. This review summarized the function of glycosylation of SARS-CoV-2, discoveries of glycan inhibitors and the underpinning molecular mechanisms, which will provide guidelines to develop glycan-based new drugs against SARS-CoV-2.

Eubhorbia neriifolia L. is a plant of Euphorbia family.Five known lignans were isolated from the aerial parts of E. neriifolia L. by silica gel for column chromatography and preparative high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).Their potential antitumor activities were evaluated in vitro.Compound 2 exhibited proliferation inhibition and cytotoxicity against esophageal squamous cancer cells, especially KYSE-410 and KYSE-450 cells.Further analyses showed that compound 2 could significantly induce apoptosis through the activation of caspase 3/9 and down-regulation of the Bcl-2/Bax protein ratio.These results suggested that compound 2 had a significant inhibitory effect on the esophageal squamous cancer cells, especially KYSE-410, which deserves further research as a potential antitumor agent.
