1.Latent profile analysis of body image and its influencing factors in postoperative oral cancer patients

Objective:To analysis of the latent profiles and influencing factors of body image in patients with postoperative oral cancer.Methods:From July 2024 to March 2025, a total of 332 patients with primary oral cancer confirmed by pathology, aged ≥18 years, and undergoing oral cancer surgery at Hunan Cancer Hospital were selected using simple random sampling and cluster sampling. Among them, 25 were female and 307 were male. The body image scale and the Rosenberg self-esteem scale were used to investigate the patients. The main indicators included the total scale scores and scores on various dimensions of body image, such as appearance evaluation and health focus, with particular attention to satisfaction with facial appearance and oral function.The correlation between self-esteem and body image was analyzed, and differences in scores were compared based on gender, age, self-esteem level, and surgical procedure.Results:Among the 332 patients, 93.4% (310/332) were married, and 6.6% (22/332) were unmarried, divorced, or widowed. A total of 84.3% (280/332) underwent flap transplantation surgery, while 15.7% (52/332) did not. The body image distress in the 332 patients could be categorized into a body image adaptation group [80.12% (266/332)] and a body image disorder group [19.88% (66/332)]. Unmarried/divorced/widowed status ( P=0.020), undergoing flap transplantation ( P=0.006), and self-esteem level ( P<0.001) were identified as influencing factors for postoperative body image disorder in oral cancer patients. Conclusions:Given the varying levels of body image concerns among oral cancer patients, healthcare providers can implement targeted, personalized nursing interventions based on their distinct categories and influencing factors.
2.Current status of water management for terminal rinsing of digestive endoscope in 104 medical institutions in Fujian Province

OBJECTIVE To investigate the current status of water management for terminal rinsing of digestive en-doscope in medical institutions in Fujian Province,and to provide reference for improving regional quality control standards.METHODS An electronic questionnaire survey was conducted from Jul.2024 to Aug.2024 through convenient sampling in secondary and above hospitals of 9 prefecture-level cities in Fujian Province.The survey covered topics such as water treatment system configuration,maintenance and water quality monitoring.RESULTS A total of 108 questionnaires were distributed and 104 valid questionnaires were collected,with an effec-tive response rate of 96.30%.The survey revealed that 78.85%(82/104)of the hospitals adopted separate water supply for each department,and 82.69%used purified water for terminal rinsing.Only 19.23%installed the final filter membrane at the water outlet.In addition,66.35%of the hospitals did not specify the service life of the wa-ter supply pipeline,and the pipeline disinfection implementation rate was 60.58%,but 31.75%of them had ir-regular disinfection frequencies,with chlorine-based disinfectants(50.79%)and peracetic acid(34.92%)being the main disinfectants.The regular conductivity monitoring rate was 47.12%,and the microbial monitoring cov-erage rate reached 90.38%,with the monitoring frequency mainly being once every quarter(60.64%),but only 20.21%used R2A medium,and 12.77%adopted the membrane filtration method for inoculation.Tertiary hospi-tals were superior to secondary hospitals in terms of film membrane pore size pass rate(87.50%vs.56.86%),pipeline disinfection implementation rate(71.43%vs.50.91%)and advanced detection method application(P<0.05).CONCLUSIONS There are issues in the management of water used for terminal rinsing of digestive endo-scopes in Fujian Province,including non-standard equipment maintenance,inconsistent monitoring methods and insufficient awareness among management personnel.It is recommended to enhance management quality by optimizing the water treatment system setup,establishing standardized monitoring procedures and strengthening professional training for personnel.

4.Jiaotai pill and its main component enhance islet hormone secretion in type 2 diabetic rats by activating the THP1/TGase2/SERT/5-HT1FRpathway

ObjectiveTo investigate the relationship between Jiaotai pill (JTP), its main component berberine (BBR), and the serotonin (5-HT) system in regulating islet hormone secretion and alleviating pancreatic β-cell dysfunction during type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) progression.MethodsT2DM rat model was established using a high-fat diet and streptozotocin injection. JTP, BBR, and Metformin were intragastrically administered for 35 days. The analyzed indices included blood glucose, blood lipids, islet hormones, and proteins related to 5-HT synthesis, secretion, and transport. Additionally, an in vitro model of glucose injury in islet cells was established to study the effects of JTP and BBR on islet hormone secretion following tryptophan hydroxylase 1 (TPH1) inhibition.ResultsJTP and BBR significantly improved blood glucose and lipid levels and islet morphology in T2DM rats. Both models exhibited reduced islet 5-HT levels and impaired islet hormone secretion. However, the administration of JTP and BBR reversed these effects. Furthermore, JTP and BBR upregulated the expression of TPH1(P = .0194, P = .0413) transglutaminase 2 (TGase2; P = .0492, P = .0349), serotonin transporter (SERT, P = .0090), and 5- hydroxytryptamine 1F receptor (5-HT1FR) in the islet 5-HT pathway (P = .0194). In the cell model, the regulatory effects of JTP and BBR on islet hormone levels were significantly weakened after TPH1 inhibition (P = .001), suggesting that JTP and BBR influence islet hormone secretion through the pancreatic 5-HT system.ConclusionThe islet 5-HT system is correlated with islet hormone secretion dysfunction in T2DM. JTP and BBR can improve islet hormone secretion by activating the TPH1/TGase2/SERT/5-HT1FR pathway in the islet 5-HT system in T2DM rats.
5.Acupuncture for pain management in Australia: Current status and future directions

Chronic pain affects 3.6 million Australians and this number is projected to reach 5.23 million by 2050, costing A$73.2 billion annually. Current care relies heavily on pharmacotherapy—particularly opioids—which leads to approximately 150 hospitalizations, 14 emergency visits, and three opioid-related deaths daily. National strategies now promote multimodal and non-pharmacological options. One of these options—acupuncture—offers a safe, evidence-based alternative with opioid-sparing effects for patients with acute and chronic pain. Therefore, its current application across various settings highlights its strong potential for integration into mainstream care. Here, we conducted a structured review of peer-reviewed literature, regulatory documents, workforce reports, and government publications on acupuncture to assess registration and education standards, workforce capacity, and professional and consumer acceptance of acupuncture. Australian pain management guidelines (2015–2025) that included acupuncture were systematically identified and evaluated. Acupuncture is a nationally registered profession with the protected title of “Acupuncturist.” Over 4800 practitioners currently provide care and consumer and professional attitudes are generally positive. However, public funding is minimal, with access largely dependent on out-of-pocket payments or limited private health insurance rebates. Few Australian guidelines recommend acupuncture for pain, in contrast to its more widespread endorsement in the United States and Europe. Some state health services and hospitals have piloted programs; however, their implementation remains fragmented. Global evidence, consumer acceptance, and the person-centered nature of acupuncture allow it to complement existing pain strategies and reduce opioid reliance in Australia. However, to achieve this, the profession must strengthen education in contemporary pain science, foster inter-professional collaboration, and expand research on its role in multidisciplinary care. Advocating for public funding is also critical. Embedding acupuncture within an integrated pain framework can better meet consumer needs, improve outcomes, and contribute to the long-term sustainability of the healthcare system.

7.Exploratory study on the relationship between brain structural network changes and gut microbiota in patients with mild cognitive impairment associated with Parkinson's disease

Objective To investigate the relationship between brain structural networks and gut micro-biota in patients with mild cognitive impairment associated with Parkinson's disease(PD-MCI),and the impact on cognitive function by neuroimaging and intestinal microbiology techniques.Methods 29 cases of patients with PD-MCI and 17 cases of PD patients with normal cognitive function(PD-NC)were enrolled.MRI T1-weighted and diffusion tensor imaging were collected for graph theory analysis,and fecal samples were analyzed using 16s DNA sequencing.Partial correlation analysis assessed relationships among differential bacteria,structural network prop-erties,and cognitive scale scores,finally followed by mediation effect analysis.Results In PD patients,the abundance of Prevotellaceae,Alloprevotella,and UCG-10 bacteria was positively correlated with language and memory cognitive domains,while the abundance of UCG-010 showed a negative correlation with executive function.Additionally,the gut microbiota also was associated with several distinct brain structural network node characteristics.Mediation analysis indicated that Prevotellaceae's effect on logical memory was mediated by the node degree in the right opercular inferior frontal gyrus(IE=0.074,95%CI:0.21~0.001,P=0.046).Conclusions PD-MCI patients showed distinct gut microbiota and brain network features compared to PD-NC patients.The association and the me-diation analysis of gut microbiota with brain networks and cognitive impairment suggests a role for Prevotellaceae in brain network alterations related to MCI,highlighting the gut-brain axis's potential influence on cognition.

9.Mitral annular calcification score based on cardiac plain CT for predicting intraoperative surgical procedure change of mitral regurgitation

Objective To observe the value of mitral annular calcification(MAC)score based on cardiac plain CT for predicting intraoperative surgical procedure change of mitral regurgitation(MR).Methods Totally 182 MR patients were retrospectively enrolled and divided into MAC group(n=57)and non MAC group(n=125)based on the presence or not of MAC,and clinical and imaging data were compared between groups.Logistic regression analysis was used to observe the impact factors of surgical procedure change.The receiver operating characteristic curve was drawn,the area under the curve(AUC)was calculated to explore the efficacy of MAC score for predicting surgical procedure change.Results Significant differences of the proportions of hypertension,atrial fibrillation(AF),mitral valve repair,mitral valve replacement,aortic valve replacement,tricuspid valve repair and surgical procedure change,as well as of admission left atrial diameter(LAD),admission left ventricular end-diastolic volume(LVEDV),admission left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF),aortic valve stenosis,aortic regurgitation,the proportion of mitral stenosis(MS)and follow-up LAD were found between MAC group and non MAC group(all P<0.05).Then the patients were divided into surgical procedure change group(n=50)and non-change group(n=132),and significant differences of patients'gender,AF,MAC,MAC score,admission LAD,aortic valve stenosis,MS and MR degree were found between surgical procedure change group and non-change group(all P<0.05).MAC score was an independent impact factor of intraoperative surgical procedure change of MR(P<0.001),with AUC of 0.757.Conclusion MAC score based on cardiac plain CT could be used to predict intraoperative surgical procedure change of MR.
10.Application of automatic slide-dropping instrument in bone marrow chromosomal karyotyping

Objective:To explore the application of an automatic slide-dropping instrument in bone marrow chromosomal karyotyping.Methods:The effects of manual and automatic dropping methods under different environmental humidity were retrospectively analyzed, and the repeatability of the automatic dropping method was analyzed.Results:No statistical difference was found between the results of automatic and manual dropping methods under the optimum ambient humidity and high humidity ( P>0.05). At low humidity, there was a statistical difference between the two methods ( P<0.05). With regard to the repeatability, the coefficient of variations of the automatic dropping method for the number of split phases, the rate of good dispersion and the rate of overlap were all lower than those of the manual dropping method. A statistical difference was also found in the number of split phases ( P<0.05) but not in the discrete excellent rate and overlapping rate between the two methods ( P>0.05). Conclusion:Better effect can be obtained by the automatic dropping instrument. It is suggested to gradually replace manual work with machine.
