BACKGROUND:Abnormal iron metabolism is closely related to immune inflammatory diseases.Exercise intervention is a potentially effective treatment that can reduce inflammation by regulating iron metabolism and improving immune response. However, how exercise regulates immune system function through iron metabolism still needs to be further explored.OBJECTIVE:To review and summarize the research progress of iron metabolism in immune inflammatory diseases, analyze the regulatory effect of exercise intervention on iron metabolism and the potential mechanism by which exercise regulates immune inflammatory diseases, thereby providing new ideas for the treatment of immune inflammatory diseases in the future.METHODS:The data sources included CNKI and PubMed databases. The retrieval time was from January 2010 to June 2024.The keywords were"iron metabolism, iron homeostasis, hepcidin, immune inflammation, rheumatoid arthritis(RA),inflammatory bowel disease(IBD),multiple sclerosis(MS),systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE),exercise"in Chinese and English,respectively.Finally,101 articles were included for review.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:(1)Abnormal iron metabolism is closely related to the occurrence and development of a variety of immune inflammatory diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and inflammatory bowel disease.Iron overload or iron deficiency can lead to dysfunction of the immune system, and thereby triggers or aggravates the inflammatory response.(2)Exercise intervention is an important means to regulate iron metabolism.Short-term aerobic exercise or strenuous exercise may lead to short-term iron metabolism disorders.Long-term aerobic exercise can promote the recovery of iron homeostasis.Regular aerobic exercise can reduce serum iron concentration, reduce iron storage in liver and muscle, and improve iron distribution in the body.Long-term exercise can help restore the balance of iron metabolism, thereby reducing the inflammatory response caused by iron metabolism disorders.Exercise types such as strength training and flexibility training also have a significant effect on iron metabolism. The effect of exercise on immune diseases has individual differences.Exercise intensity, duration, frequency and other factors may have different effects on iron metabolism.(3)In general, exercise intervention plays a role in the prevention and treatment of immune inflammatory diseases. However, there are still some limitations in the mechanism elucidation,long-term effects and individual differences in the existing studies. In the future,it is necessary to further explore the specific regulatory mechanism of exercise on iron metabolism and the individualized therapeutic effects of different types of exercise.

BACKGROUND:A large number of studies have demonstrated that stem cell exosomes play an important role in the repair of bone defects, either directly as carriers for loading other small molecules or surface modifications,or by binding to biomaterials to promote the repair and regeneration of bone tissue.OBJECTIVE:To summarize the osteogenic mechanisms of stem cell exosomes from different sources and their research progress in bone defect repair.METHODS:Chinese search terms"stem cell, exosome, bone, biomaterial, carrier, bioceramic, polymer, metal, hydrogel, engineered exosome"were used to search CNKI.English search terms"stem cell, exosome, bone defect, biomaterial, carrier, bioceramic, ploymer, metal material, hydrogel, engineering exosome"were used to search PubMed database.According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria,77 relevant articles were finally included for summary.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Exosomes from stem cells of different origins can promote osteoblast proliferation and differentiation, promote angiogenesis, and regulate osteoclast activity and macrophage phenotype to promote bone formation and bone mineralization. In addition, many achievements of exosomes in the field of bone defect repair were described from two aspects:biomaterial-assisted exosomes and engineered exosomes. However, the current research on stem cell exosomes in bone tissue engineering is still insufficient, and most of these studies are limited to small animal models, while the treatment of bone defects in large animals, including humans, will be more complex, which will also become a major challenge for the treatment of bone defects. This will also be a great challenge in the dissemination of exosome therapy.

BACKGROUND:The long-term patency rate of synthetic blood vessels remains a significant challenge that requires urgent attention.Enhancing the anticoagulant performance of small-caliber artificial blood vessels is crucial in ensuring their long-term efficacy.OBJECTIVE:To investigate the anticoagulation activity of polycaprolactone/low molecular weight fucoidan nanofibers with shell core structure and determine the effect on the activity of human umbilical vein endothelial cells.METHODS:Polycaprolactone nanofiber membranes and polycaprolactone/low molecular weight fucoidan nanofiber membranes with polycaprolactone as shell layer and low molecular weight fucoidan as core layer were prepared by emulsion electrospinning method(the mass ratio of low molecular weight fucoidan to polycaprolactone was 10%,25%,40%,and 55%,respectively).The morphology and structure of the fibers were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, fluorescence microscopy, and infrared spectroscopy. The mechanical strength of the fiber membranes was detected by tensile test. The loading rate and sustained release rate of low molecular weight fucoidan in the nanofibers were detected by 1,9-dimethylmethylene blue dye.The anticoagulant properties of the fiber membranes were verified by hemolysis test, dynamic coagulation test, plasma recalcification test, and platelet adhesion test. The five fiber membranes were co-cultured with human umbilical vein endothelial cells. The cell proliferation was detected by CCK-8 assay and the cell morphology was observed by fluorescence microscopy.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:(1)Scanning electron microscope showed that the surface of polycaprolactone/low molecular weight brown algae polysaccharide nanofiber membrane was smooth, the fiber diameter was uniform, and there was no obvious beaded structure. With the increase of low molecular weight brown algae polysaccharide content in the fiber membrane, the diameter of the fiber membrane increased and the maximum tensile stress decreased, but it still met the mechanical properties requirements of small-caliber artificial blood vessels.Fluorescence images and infrared spectra confirmed that low molecular weight brown algae polysaccharide was successfully loaded into polycaprolactone nanofiber membrane, and the low molecular weight brown algae polysaccharide loaded in each group of fiber membranes was released suddenly within 12 hours and released at a relatively low rate after 48 hours.(2)Compared with polycaprolactone nanofiber membrane,polycaprolactone/low molecular weight brown algae polysaccharide nanofiber membrane had better anticoagulant activity, among which the group with a mass ratio of low molecular weight brown algae polysaccharide to polycaprolactone of 25%had the best anticoagulant effect. All five fiber membranes supported the growth and proliferation of human umbilical vein endothelial cells without affecting cell morphology and had no obvious cytotoxicity.(3)The results show that the polycaprolactone/low molecular weight brown algae polysaccharide nanofiber membrane has good anticoagulant function, blood compatibility, and cell compatibility.

BACKGROUND:Studies have shown that there is a close relationship between pyroptosis, inflammatory factors and osteoporosis.OBJECTIVE:To review the effects of pyroptosis and inflammatory factors on the pathogenesis of osteoporosis from the perspectives of osteogenic differentiation and osteoclastic differentiation, based on an overview of pyroptosis in relation to the interaction of relevant inflammatory factors.METHODS:The first author used the computer to search the literature published by each database until 2024,and searched CNKI,WanFang,VIP and PubMed databases with the search terms of"pyroptosis, inflammatory factors, osteoporosis, osteoblast, osteoclast, bone metabolism, signaling pathway, review"in Chinese and English.A total of 79 papers were finally included according to the inclusion criteria.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The progression of osteoporosis is closely related to inflammation,in which pyroptosis plays a key role.Immune cells induce pyroptosis through apoptosis pathway, promote the secretion of inflammatory factors such as interleukin-18,interleukin-1β and NLRP3,build an inflammatory immune microenvironment, and regulate bone metabolism through complex signaling pathways, resulting in enhanced bone absorption and reduced bone formation, thereby leading to osteoporosis.Previous studies have shown that inhibiting pyroptosis is anti-inflammatory and slows the progression of osteoporosis, and it has been shown to improve inflammatory bone loss in vitro and in animal models. At present, research on pyroptosis and osteoporosis is limited. On the one hand, the exact mechanism of osteoporosis and the pathogenesis of pyroptosis are unknown, and the specific pathways and regulatory mechanisms remain to be understood. On the other hand, therapeutic strategies targeting pyroptosis are still theoretical, not clinically proven, and drug side effects are unknown. In the future, the research focus is to further explore the pathogenesis, especially the mechanism of pyroptosis, identify potential therapeutic targets, further study the pyroptosis signaling pathway and Gasdermin protein, and develop new drugs to improve the therapeutic effect in patients with osteoporosis.

9.Association between socio ecological risk factors, physical activity developmental trajectory and depressive symptoms among junior and senior high school students
SUN Zhiying, LIU Zhonghui, LI Fengqin, WANG Xiaoyang, XU Ke, CUI Yushan, ZHANG Xianwei
Chinese Journal of School Health 2026;47(5):676-679
Objective:
To explore the relationship between socio ecological risk factors (SERF), physical activity (PA) developmental trajectories, and depressive symptoms among junior and senior high school students in Tianjin, in order to provide theoretical support for comprehensive interventions for adolescent depression.
Methods:
A longitudinal follow up design was adopted. In September 2022, a baseline survey was conducted using a stratified cluster random sampling method in two junior high schools and two senior high schools in Tianjin, collecting data on students basic information, SERF, PA, and depressive symptoms. Two follow up surveys were conducted in September 2023 and 2024, yielding 588 valid participants. Latent class growth analysis (LCGA) was used to identify PA developmental trajectory categories among junior and senior high school students. Logistic regression was applied to examine the associations between depressive symptoms and SERF as well as PA trajectories.
Results:
The detection rates of depressive symptoms among Tianjin junior and senior high school students over the three years were 26.53%, 20.24%, and 21.26 %, respectively. Depressive symptoms were positively correlated with SERF ( OR=1.04, 95%CI=1.03-1.05, P <0.05). The highest risks were observed in the individual dimension and family dimension ( OR =1.28, 1.21, both P <0.05). LCGA identified three PA trajectory groups:persistently low level (80.65%), persistently high level (4.58%), and slowly increasing group ( 14.77 %). Multivariate regression analysis showed that compared with the persistently low level PA, the slowly increasing PA significantly reduced the risk of depressive symptoms ( OR=0.44, 95%CI =0.20-0.88), while SERF still increased the risk of depressive symptoms ( OR=1.04, 95%CI =1.03-1.05) (both P <0.05).
Conclusion
SERF are risk factors for depression symptoms among junior and senior high school students, whereas slowly increasing PA development trajectory demonstrates a protective effect.

Chinese Journal of School Health 2026;47(5):700-703
Objective:
To understand the current status of short video addiction among vocational nursing students in higher vocational colleges (hereinafter referred to as "nursing students") and its related factors, so as to provide a reference for formulating online education programs in colleges.
Methods:
From March to May 2025, a stratified random sample of 2 223 nursing students from four vocational colleges in Henan Province was selected. Short Video Addiction Scale for College Students, Short form Egna Minnen av Barndoms Uppfostran for Chinese, Peer Rejection Scale, and University of California at Los Angels Loneliness Scale were used for investigation. Chi square test and multivariate Logistic regression analysis were used to explore the related factors of short video addiction among nursing students.
Results:
The detection rate of short video addiction of higher vocational nursing students was 26.95%, and the scores for avoidance, loss of control, inefficiency and withdrawal were (8.05±2.97) (10.24±3.09) (4.99±1.88) and (11.97±4.10), respectively. Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that sophomore year 2 ( OR=1.83, 95%CI =1.39-2.40), higher maternal education level (secondary school/vocational college: OR =1.34, 95% CI =1.06-1.68; college/undergraduate: OR =1.38, 95% CI =1.05-1.82), paternal overprotection ( OR=1.59, 95%CI =1.27-2.00), high peer rejection ( OR=1.40, 95%CI =1.19-1.66), and strong loneliness ( OR=1.57, 95%CI =1.07-2.28) were associated with a higher risk of short video addiction among nursing students (all P <0.05). Paternal affectionate and warm rearing style ( OR=0.82, 95%CI = 0.71- 0.95) was associated with a lower risk of short video addiction ( P <0.05).
Conclusions
The detection rate of short video addiction among nursing students is relatively high. Short video addiction is related to the nursing students grade, maternal education level, paternal overprotection and affectionate rearing style, peer rejection, and loneliness.
