Background: Dental caries is a worldwide spreader infectious decease. According to the present studies, the prevalence of the disease is highly dependent on the developmental of the country and its prevention strategies. By the World Dental Federation and World Health Organization (WHO) criteria, dental caries prevalence is increasing every year in Mongolia, which is becoming one of the main problems in our country. According to studies, the most effective method of decreasing prevalence of caries is to have an oral health knowledge, provide caries treatment on early-stage and focusing more on prevention. Aim: The aim of our study was to determine the oral health status among the groups aged between 5, 12, 35-44, 65-74. Materials and Methods: The study has consisted 3512 subjects who selected from 4 age groups (5, 12, 35-44, 65-74) and from 6 districts of Ulaanbaatar city and 5 provinces of Mongolia. The oral examination of each person was done by calibrated dentists according to recommendation of WHO, 2013. The statistical analysis was processed using statistical software system (Stata version 16.0). Result: The prevalence of dental caries and mean of Decayed, Missed, Filled, permanent teeth (DMFt), decayed filled primary teeth were 87.6%, 6.2±0.14 among 5 years old, 77.0%, 2.2±0.03 among 12 years old, 98.1%, 11.8±0.19 among 35-44 years old, 99.8%, 23.6±0.27 among 65-74 years old. The good oral hygiene index was 51.5%, 46.3%, 49.0% and 65.7%. The prevalence of gingivitis was 2.3%, 9.8%, 34.5%, 17.6% and of calculus 0.8%, 7.6%, 62.8%, 31.6%, respectively above groups. The percent of people with removable dentures among 65-74 years old was higher than among 35-44 years old. Conclusion Across multiple age groups, the prevalence and severity of dental caries remain high. Oral hygiene status is predominantly classified as fair to poor. Among adults, partial or complete tooth loss is common; however, the utilization of dental prostheses is low, indicating inadequate prosthetic rehabilitation and limited adaptation to tooth replacement.

Background: Oral candidiasis, which is one of the most common diseases of the mucous membrane, is carried in the mouth of about 17-75% of healthy population. And 51-74% of this healthy population is asymptomatic. However, oral candidiasis is found in 50-65% of the individuals with dentures, is found in 67% of elders over 75 years old and is found in 85% of the patients with oral cancer. The most common causative organism is C.albicans with 43.7%, less commonly C.glabrata and C.tropicalis. According to some researches, the occurrence of the oral candidiasis has been increasing continuously for last 20-30 years, and has strong tendency to consistently increase for the 21st century. Methods: Total 50 patients were participated in this study, including; the patients with full denture from Department of Prosthodontics of The Dental Center of Ulaanbaatar, and patients with evident symptoms of candidiasis from Department of Neck and Head Surgery and Department of Radiation Therapy of National Cancer Center of Mongolia. The study was carried out by descriptive study type, based on the patients’ questionnaire survey, physical examination and laboratory tests. Results: The oral candidiasis causing pathogen Candida was found in 100% of following patients including; the patients with full denture and the patients having head and neck radiation therapy. For the patients with full denture, Candida albicans was the most commonly implicated organism with 53%, Candida tropicalis 21% and Candida krusei 11%. For the patients with radiation therapy for head and neck cancer, most common pathogen was Candida albicans with 64% and Candida tropicalis with 7%. Conclusions Main causative pathogens for the patients with full denture are C.albicans (53%), С.tropicalis (21%), and for the patients with radiotherapy for head and neck cancer is C. albicans (64%). 95% of the participants who were diagnosed with oral candidiasis were resistant to Colistin and 100% sensitive to Nystatin and Miconazole.

Шүдний тулгуур эдийн үрэвсэлт өвчний үед зарим нянгийн бүрэлдэхүүн хэсгүүд нь жирэмсэлтийн явц ба ургийн хөгжилд нөлөөлж болдог гэдгийг харуулсан судалгааны үр дүнгүүд байдаг. Иймээс жирэмсэн эмэгтэйчүүдийн тулгуур эдийн өвчин нь нярайн дутуу болон жин багатай төрөх эрсдэлт хүчин зүйл болж байгаа эсэхийг судлахад энэхүү судалгааны зорилго оршино. Уг судалгааг эмнэлэгт суурилсан тохиолдол хяналтын загвараар Нийслэлийн Өргөө Амаржих Газар болон Эх Хүүхдийн Эрүүл Мэндийн Үндэсний Төв (ЭХЭМҮТ)-ийн нийт 90 оролцогчийг хамруулан хийж гүйцэтгэлээ. Тохиолдлын бүлэг 30 (37 долоо хоногоос бага тээлттэй, 2500 гр-aaс бага жинтэй нярай) оролцогч, хяналтын бүлэгт 60 (хэвийн тээлттэй) оролцогч хамрагдсан. Судалгаанд оролцогчдийн шүд цоорох өвчний (ШЦӨ) тархалт хяналтын бүлэгт 99%, эрчим 8.32 ЦЛА/ш, тохиолдолын бүлэгт ШЦӨ тархалт 100%, эрчим 11.33 ЦЛА/ш байв. Амны хөндийн эрүүл ахуйн (АХЭА) үзүүлэлтийг үнэлэхэд хяналтын бүлэгт 2.4 буюу ‘’дунд’’, тохиолдолын бүлэгт 3.2 буюу ‘’муу’’ үнэлгээтэй байлаа. Тулгуур эдийн өвчин, шүдний чулуу (***p<0.008), шүд буйлны эмгэг хөндийн гүн 4-6 мм байх нь (***p<0.006) жин багатай дутуу нярай (ЖБДН) төрөх эрсдэлт хүчин зүйл болж байгаа нь статистик ач холбогдол бүхий үр дүнг үзүүллээ. Буйлны үрэвсэл нь ЖБДН төрөх эрсдэлийг 5.5 дахин нэмэгдүүлж байна. Community Periodontal Index of Treatment Needs (CPITN) үзүүлэлт нь АХЭА үзүүлэлтээс хамааралтай болох нь статистикийн хувьд ач холбогдолтой байлаа (***р<0.000). Тулгуур эдийн өвчин шүдний чулуу, шүд буйлны эмгэг хөндийтэй байх нь ЖБДН төрөх эрсдэлт хүчин зүйл болж байгаа нь судалгааны үр дүнгээс ажиглагдлаа.

Preterm birth is not only health problem but also one of major socioeconomic issues. Preterm Low Birth Weight (PLBW) is leading causative factor of neonatal mortality. Some researches results showed that during periodontal inflammatory disorder some bacterial components could affect pregnancy and fetal development. Therefore aim of our study is to assess and confirm periodontal disease of pregnant females whether or not risk factor of PLBW. We performed our study on the First Maternity Hospital and National Centre for Maternal and Child Health of Mongolia by clinical based case control method on 90 participants. Case group has 30 females (<37 weeks of gestation, and Neonates Birth Weight <2500), control group has 60 females (Normal birth) (ratio was 1:2). Dental caries prevalence on control group was 99%, the mean of DFM/t was 8.32 “average”, prevalence of case group was 100%, and mean of DFM/t was 11.33, which was also “average”. Oral hygiene examination assessment was poor. Study results showed that patients with periodontal disease such as dental calculus (***p<0.008) and periodontal pocket with depth of 4-6mm (***p<0.006) were risk factors for PLBW. Gingivitis is increased to have PLBW baby by 5.5 times. CPITN index was highly associated with dental hygiene index and it was statistically significant. (***p<0.000). Within the limits of this study poor periodontal health status of mothers may be a potential risk factor for a preterm low birth weight.

Dental caries is prevent problem, not only Mongolia, but also world wide. According to World Health Organization’s report in 1976 the mean DMFT of 12 years old of Mongolian children was 1.48 and in 1990 was 2.6. According to Mongolian research studies, the prevalence of caries and mean DMFT children within the age range of 3-17 years old was 79.2% and 3.88 and in 3-5 years old children were 4.9 correspondingly. Several investigators have reported increasing caries rate among Mongolian children, especially those living in cities. The aim of this study to access dental caries status among preschool, children of Ulaanbaatar city, Mongolia.The study covered 294 preschool children who were 3 - 5 years randomly selected from 2 kindergartens of Ulaanbaatar city. Design: Cross – sectional study, oral epidemiological survey based on World Нealth Organization methodology clinical examination.The caries prevalence of all preschool children was 85%. The caries prevalence in 3 years old children was 75.6%, in 4 years old, it was 85.78% in 5 years old, it was 93.8%. The caries prevalence was high among 5 years old children. The mean dmft score was 6.2±0.2 all children.Only 15% of the children were caries free. The caries prevalence of the preschool children was 85%, and the mean dmft (decayed, missing, filled tooth) were 6.2±0.2. The dental caries prevalence and mean dmft score among preschool children of Ulaanbaatar city were “VERY HIGH” stage which is determined by criteria World Health Organization.
